    THANK YOU...one of the best instructional videos on TH-cam!

    I’m doing this today and bought phenoseal to put around it before even seeing your video! Happy I watched it bc I was thinking maybe I was going overkill but now I’m secure in my decision!
    Thanks!

      Glad this was helpful. The splash guards have been in place now in my home for over 4 years and still going strong. Sealing the adhesive was a good choice because the double sided adhesive doesn't hold up over long times in a moist environment.

      Not sure if this is the total solution. I'm totally surprised your shower doesnt have a glass door with those jets. This may help some though.

    Well, there ya go. I thought for sure I am the only Dad that this happens too. Believe me, my daughters are old enough to know better at this stage too, but it still happens. I bought ones that are much smaller than these, so back to the store I go. So glad I procrastinated on fixing the hole in the ceiling from the toilet leak months ago, because I would have to do it again anyway. Thanks for the video.

      Glad to hear that I too am not the only dad with these issues. Someone teased that I should discipline my kids instead of solving issues for them, but I am not sure that person has not raised their own daughters. Good luck.

  • @tinakimmey8290
    @tinakimmey8290 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Splash guards often come as a pack of 2 so it is likely why they indicated only one. Especially important in the days of online purchasing where you're not holding the product.

    • @ThisGuyProductions

    thank you for the video, I just had my Hall bathroom redone because, just like your daughters, my sons don't understand that taking an hour long shower and not putting the shower liner in in gonna do service damage to my floor and the ceiling underneath the bathroom, so after I have my whole bathroom floor redone I will be installing this. but if you have any other suggestions please let me know, Thank you

    • @ThisGuyProductions
      @ThisGuyProductions  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Oh my gosh. So sorry to hear that. You can use flooring that is water tight and also add a level of protection around the edges of the room up the molding. Simply adding caulk will help. good luck.

    • @ThisGuyProductions
      @ThisGuyProductions  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Our shower/tubs are long enough that the water doesnt spray that far back. The issue for me in our home was closer to the shower head on that side.

    doesn't the caulking you add turn black after a while?

    • @ThisGuyProductions
      @ThisGuyProductions  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      nope. Its the same stuff that lines most bathtubs already. You just clean it like the rest of the shower. It stays white and clean. You may need to reapply a new coat every once in a while. Its been almost a year and it still looks as great as day 1.

    So we took out the shower door because it got gross, mold and such in the track of the door, scum on glass, etc. Cleaning it=pain. Put up a curtain. Of course, water got all over the wall, corner, like yours, so now we are thinking, let's just put in a splash guard but no, maybe we should just put a DOOR on...God. Now we're just going back with a new door. God bathrooms suck. Loved this video. Instructive and hilarious which is always good.

    • @ThisGuyProductions

    Sigh.....kids these days, what can I say. I felt your pain man. My washroom is in the exact situation you have now. The baseboard and the drywall were all damaged. Well, we were planning doing a renovation on this bathroom anyway, this just put us ahead of schedule. I installed the splash guard (thanks for the video) on the other bathroom after so that we don't end up taking shower in the backyard. 😅

  • @michaelpapillo4334

    ANOTHER WAY TO FIX THAT WOULD BE TO GET RID OF THE STRAIGHT CHROME OLD FASHION ROD THAT HOLDS THE CURTAIN UP,, AND INVEST IN A NEW CURVED ONE , AT EACH END IT CURVES INWARD TWARDS THE INNER BATHTUBE ,, THEN YOU WOULDN NEED THOSE SPLAS GARD OR US SMALLER ONES IF YOU WANT ,, THERE SOLD AT HOME DEPOT ALSO

    • @ThisGuyProductions
      @ThisGuyProductions  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I always figured those curved curtains were for more space in the middle. I hadn't realized they were tighter in the corners. I will need to look into this. Thanks.

      Yeah, IF your tub and shower wall are 90 degrees. If not, you are out of luck with this type. I bought some at home depot that can flex inward or outward to compensate for that. Keep it in mind if you are in the market for something like this.

      I am an adult, and no matter how closed the shower curtain is, we end up with a large puddle of water. I know for a fact it stays closed, but there is always a mess. We have a liner and a shower curtain. We put a towel outside the length of the tub each shower, but it isn't enough to catch the water. I just went out and bought another liner and splash guards but seeing as the bottom part is small, I do not expect great results, but I am desperate. Point is, in our house anyway, this isn't a problem that can be blamed on kids or anyone with incorrect behavior.

  • @teresa6775
    @teresa6775 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Let's step out soaking wet, first stepping on the step of the tub so water can run everywhere down the side and all over the floor. Not sure wth kids these days think about, but it's surely not anything involving common sense.
