Suggest applying clear packing tape lengthwise on the part of the shower curtain tucked in the gap of the shower chair ……these curtain are( mostly thin and tear easily) will make easier to slide into the middle of the shower chair
I used this trick while I had a shower bench and it worked like a charm. My plastic liner came from Dollar Tree and I didn't mind cutting it up at all. Thank you so much. Loved the transfer bench too, but am so glad to return to showering standing up.
We didn't cut the curtain we already had. Just merely stuffed it into the crack between the first section and the second a little. Not a drop of water on the floor. So far so good
Just subscribed!! Thank YOUUU!!! I'm 4wks post op now from having my Left knee replaced (had the Rt one done 18mo ago) I struggled with this very thing!! So glad I stumbled upon this video and your channel. I WILL definitely be watching and learning!! Blessings 😇
Thank you so much for sharing this work around! Used a transfer bench with my mom for the 1st time today and I had a small lagoon! I checked and the commercial curtains were very pricey.
This is wonderful! I saw how expensive the commercially available shower curtains for the transfer benches are, and so this really helps. Thank you for sharing these ideas. Your channel is really helping me prepare for hip surgery. 💘
This is what I have been doing but, within a few showers, the cuts begin to rip upwards. Using secure plastic clips on the upper edges of the cuts will extend the life of your shower curtain.
Thanks so much. I just had surgery and after 2-4 days I can take a shower but still can't stand on right leg so this will be better ao I don't fall down. Sure can't take crutches in shower or balance on 1 foot either.
This method works with a transfer bench in a tub but do you have any suggestions for keeping the water off the floor while using a transfer bench in a shower with just a small lip? HELP!!!
Use 2 shower curtains, one on each end of the rod. Pull them together and clip closed with a couple binder clips in a drug-store wrap technique. Tuck a bit into the space on the bench. No water gets out and the bench can be re-positioned anywhere.
@@EquipMeOT thanks for making this video. Would you know of the water leaks out where the curtain is cut if someone else uses the shower without the bench in the tub?
I don’t believe it. Because Homebound visiting nurse OT never mentioned this in Jan 2019.My small shower vertical. But transfer seat was out of way. I tried it with OT with my clothes on when we got one. Never used it. I donated to senior center with this brand new never used . I had to get another another shower seat. It was so hard for me to transfer. Can you demo for vertical shower with low bottom unlike high bathtub, with seat? Transfer seat same way as bathtub? Abs shower curtain work sane way to but shower curtain will move and water leak. How? Demo? I am curious. Do homebound visiting nurses and OT nurses must know how with like this transfer seat in shower ( no bathtub) ? Right? I asked shower grab grin on shower wall with sucker. When I see red. I have to remove it and clean and put it back on shower wall to see green on. It still helps me a lot to assist. I still use the small circle shower seat. My shower is very small. I am not going upstairs for the bathtub. Back in 2019 I used wheelchair in first floor…. Can you also demo wheelchair in bathroom ? I borrow nursing home rehabilitation wheelchair but bug mistake. It didn’t fit into my bathroom door!!!!! I am curious about your demo with showing how to use , etc. What s about bathroom sink faucet the ball knob pull on and push it closed. Have any rubber cap on ball knob somehow? Not have like tar in medical supply store at all! Even Home Depot’s store if lucky have. None! Do u have that rubber cap grib for sink faucet knob ? Info please where to get it? Mine wet hands slipped up. Hurt my wrists and elbows abs shoulders. Thanks!!!
This msy be a very stupid question but how do you get onto the transfer bench if it has the shower curtain cut and folded in it? I don't mean to be duh about it i just can't visualize it. Help! Thanks for this informative video!
Caregiver- I just lift the curtain up in the middle and put it in the top of the ‘gap’. But if you’re the person using the bench this might work better for you I guess.

I'd say where you cut and stops just put some good tape on the outside so it doesn't separate more seems to have worked well for us😊
This is sooooo helpful! Thank you! I’m tired of making a mess in my bathroom during my recovery process. ❤️
Your'e welcome! No more slippery, wet floors!
Omg!! Would have NEVER thought of that!! Excellent info! Thank you for this fabulous tip!

Such a life saver for my wife whist bathing her handicap mum..
We didn't cut the curtain we already had. Just merely stuffed it into the crack between the first section and the second a little. Not a drop of water on the floor. So far so good

Great tip, wished I I tried it before the 1st shower..

Great idea- if someone needs assistance while showering maybe fold 1 section onto other and then tuck thru seat? Going to try it this week- thank you!
Great!

You’re welcome!
@@EquipMeOT thanks for making this video. Would you know of the water leaks out where the curtain is cut if someone else uses the shower without the bench in the tub?
I have not had a problem with that unless the water is spraying right at the flap in the curtain.
@@EquipMeOT good to know. Thanks for responding.
Thank you SO very much! I'd love a video of same situation with set up for caregiver assisting
I think this will help even with a caregiver performing the shower. Maybe not 100%, but definitely worth trying.
I have a small lip in my shower. What did u end up doing?
Thank You soo much!! Now I will be prepared for my M IL’s visits
Great idea thanks…. They sell those curtains all cut out for outrageous prices. $67 last time I checked in Amazon

Just tucking the curtain under the outside legs and assuring the rest of curtain is n tub works well too. No chance of curtain ripping.
Just put tape on the outside of it where the cut ends worked for us😊
Caregiver- I just lift the curtain up in the middle and put it in the top of the ‘gap’. But if you’re the person using the bench this might work better for you I guess.
👌👌👌
The way your shower bench is arranged i don’t see how the person can get his legs into the shower because the vanity is in the way
In this bathroom, I have to remove the glass shower doors to position the bench properly. I’ve demo’d that in previous videos.
I bet no one will ever make a video showing a patient actually using this, i.e. fir demonstrative purposes fully clothed getting in and using this.
Tuck in for every shower
That piece going rip off over time
too bad our bench doesn't have that slit in it...
