    I love your mantra of "why do what others have already done?" I agree, if you're going to do something, make it your own and make it great so that it is worth your time. Time given can never be taken back. Do it so that it is not just another tiny boat, it is not just another car, it is not just another whatever...because when you've reached the finish line, you'll look back with satisfaction. But having this mindset, is there ever a time when one is truly satisfied? But know that the true product is not the boat but all the bits and pieces of nuggets of hindsight and insights you've gained and shared along the way. I'm a sub now. Greatness isn't achieved by following the mass.

    Love this video. I’ve been dreaming to trick my 12’ Sun Dolphin flat bottom plastic boat with some storage /foam/ navigation lights. Checked your website boat kits but no luck. If you ever run across one I would love to see you do one. It would blow the pond monster out of the water. Keep this stuff up. Maybe will see my kit on your website in future. Thnx for posting.

    Love your work! I'm planning on modifying my Pelican Bass Raider 10e eventually, but not sure how to best reinforce the outer walls at the top before installing the plywood deck. I do metal fabrication, paint and body work, so that gives me a little edge. I'm a carpenter, mason, plumber and pipefitter by trade from my time in the Army. The creeking from a wood deck can be remedied with sandwiching foam tape for truck toolboxes between the wood and other substrate. Butyl caulk on a roll works to semi-adhere stuff and stop rubbing.

    Great video, great project! The 12’ Prowler or the 12’ Quest Sportsman (Bass Pro/Dicks Sporting, same boat at 520# weight limit, $700), seems like a great candidate. On that boat, a new modded deck covering the footwells/battery wells could have hatches, and there would still be inside side walls above the deck of 8” or so. If you installed a modded deck even with the gunnels as on this 10’ build, there would likely be room below deck to add foam/flotation if needed. Anyway, thanks for the great channel! :-)

    I love the idea of an electric outboard, but until batteries get much, much lighter the power to weight ratio is just not there. ~50lbs is a 10 horse 2 stroke. Honestly thats the smallest motor I put on anything. Flatback canoe? 10hp 2 stroke. Portabote, 10hp 2 stroke. 10-11ft inflatable, 25hp 2 stroke :)

    I wouldn't want to trade all my foam flotation for a rod locker. Glad you acknowledged it was a stupid idea. Now I am trying to figure out the point. Oh yeah, clicks.

    • @bigcountry908
      @bigcountry908 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      this comment means nothing when he added pour-in foam elsewhere in the boat he didn't really trade any flotation for the rod storage i can see this being correct if he removed the foam and added more weight than he did but the foam is really only there to displace water if it gets in the hull and with a proper bilge system this is a non issue
