    We repo'd one while the owner and his wife were in it and said they were not getting out. My partner reached down, unscrewed the drain and pocketed the drain cap. They started cussing as the water disappeared...our boss told us to leave. Big mistake...went back a week later...the tub was destroyed...that time we took photos, left the tub and took 'em to court. Won the case...collected over $7,000 with payroll garnishment.

    Nicely done, guys.. I had no idea there were repo's on hot tubs! I paid for mine before it arrived.. I had better lock it down, seeing how easy it is to take in 30 min. I'm using a car dolly and a tractor to move my tub. Fun!

    Everyone looking for the Teflon mat should first try three 10’ long pieces of 2” PVC pipe as rollers, you can spin the tub around after you roll it across the yard sitting upright. Going up a set of stairs requires some other tools but for a move across the yard PVC works very well.

    I just paid $50 bucks for a 5 or 6 person hot tub, plus $10 in gas to go get it and bring it home. It has 3 cracked couplings and 4 eyeball jets are missing. The skirting needs to be be refinished or replaced, which is no biggie. The only real cost will be to run a 6/3 underground cable and the disconnect breaker box.

    • @rupe53
      @rupe53 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sir Jaxx ... you need to run a #6/4 cable for code.

    • @SirJaxxSirJaxx
      @SirJaxxSirJaxx 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@rupe53 The unit is not 3 phase, but 240v 30 amps. 6/3 w/ground is needed to compensate for the voltage to the hot tub and Sauna. Plus an outlet or two for lighting.

    • @rupe53
      @rupe53 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@SirJaxxSirJaxx ... I misspoke. What I meant was 4 wires total. 6/3 plus a ground is fine from the panel to the outside of the home but generally speaking that's not rated for underground / wet . At some point you would change over to conduit and use THHN for the rest of the run, keeping in mind the service disconnect should be within sight of the tub. There are also certain distance requirements from that disconnect (and outlets) to the tub. There are outdoor "spa panels" made that have a space for your tub breaker and a service outlet breaker. Quite handy!

    • @SirJaxxSirJaxx
      @SirJaxxSirJaxx 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@rupe53 Let me lay out what I planning to do here. Starting at the meter I plan to drop a 2" close nipple down to a 2 pole Breaker box rated for 100 amps, but will use a 60 2p breaker. From the bottom of the switch, I have 2 options, go out through the back of the disconnect into the cavity and route my 6/3 cable into the cavity and down through the sill plate into the crawl space, or I can drop a 2" nipple with an LB and into the crawl space. I will that route 30' of 6/3 cable directly across the floor joists to the other block wall foundation and exit through that foundation. Then up in Conduit into a Lockable Service disconnect switch and from there I will route the 6/3 direct burial cable 70' over to a Stub out mounted on a wooden post and install a 30a 2p outlet. I will reinstall the 30a 2p 240v appliance cord and plug and use it as the Service Disconnect for the Hot tub and probably the same set up for a future Sauna. I will add 2 20a 120v convenience outlets on the sides of the post too for power and Lighting. The Power and lighting circuits will separate that were originally from the garage to a Trailer hookup, about 100' long, I plan to hire a Kid to dig it up from the outlets back to where I bend it over to the same post I will be using for the Hot tub outlet.

    • @rupe53
      @rupe53 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@SirJaxxSirJaxx Yer gonna have to check on some local code for a few things but I can tell you that an outlet does qualify as a local disconnect, but it must be a GFIC circuit and it must be a certain distance from the tub. (usually more than the standard 6 ft appliance cord) Also, you may not be able to tap directly from the meter box unless there's a breaker box already there, which is where you should tie in. (main panel) Those outlets usually need to be further away from a hot tub than the hot tub disconnect. (recalling 12 - 15 ft?) Some of this is national code and your local code may be more strict. (further away) There are several articles I have found on the web about project like this and from experience I would say to select the ones where they keep mentioning national code. (NEC) This will keep you safe, although you should also check on local code for any inspections and future sale of the property.

    How much money do hot tubs cost that its worth it to pay to have it taken back? seems kind of overkill to me but whatever.

    • @383yj
      @383yj 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      It depends on the model. The cheapest are obviously the inflatables but theyre garbage. This type usually starts around a couple thousand for a two person and the cost goes up the more seats and features you add on. If i had to guess I would say this one was in the $5K range but I have seen them upwards of $15 and even $20K. I believe that was a Bullfrog.

    Toxic chlorine and pool chemicals are awesome for lawns and any critters that may live underground...

    • @SpaGuy
      @SpaGuy  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Shows you know nothing.. There is more chlorine coming out of your water hose than is in a hot tub.. Every tub owner drains the tub by the way where do you think they drain it to?? Yep the yard..

    This is hilarious, but I’m confused as to why you would need to repo a hot tub? I’ve owned stores and ran dealerships for years. The hot tub is either paid for in full, or if its financed, as a dealer I am funded in full. If they miss a payment, its with the finance company, not me.

    • @SpaGuy
      @SpaGuy  6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Troy, We in-house rent to own hot tubs... We also use finance companies but I mostly sell used tubs so it was not until the last few years that finance companies would finance them..

    • @sirlancelot3109
      @sirlancelot3109 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      And let’s be honest this isn’t the first time you’ve repo’d a hot tub. I’d even venture a guess that you do quite a bit of it and it’s part of your business model.

      We always make the wiring safe and at least terminate it at the closest box.. Power down and tape off any exposed wiring... Thanks for watching... Spa Guy
