  • We ordered a hot tub and it arrived early! We ended up buying a CalSpa hot tub spa from our local Pool Town store. It was a great buying experience and everything went smooth.
    This Cal Spa Hot Tub is considered an 8 foot tub and designed to seat 7 people. We chose this tub because of its two built in "cool down" seats, and we liked the wide corner seats, too. It is a very spacious hot tub. It has three pumps, an LED touch screen display, lights, waterfall, ozonator, upgraded maintenance free exterior cabinet with LED lighting, and built in Bluetooth stereo speakers with subwoofer that sounds GREAT!
    We looked for Hot Tub Ideas for the backyard, because we have full sun in the backyard. So, we decided to put up two Gazebo Pergola Canopy things to provide us with some style and shade. The work perfect and offer hot tub privacy, too.
    We ran 220 electric to the tub with a 50 amp breaker box. We hired a contractor to do this part and the install was nicely done.
    This is a large hot tub that has plenty of footwell space. That was important to us, too. This tub is not a lounger as we opted for more space and seating. There is a debate as to which is better; a hot tub with or lounger or one without. It depends who you ask and it really comes down to personal preference. We felt the lounger took up too much space.
    About Cal Spas:
    Established in 1978, Cal Spas offers hot tubs at price points from quite affordable to very luxurious. The acrylic shells are surrounded by either shell or full cabinet insulation. The exclusive adjustable therapy system offers targeted muscle relief through hydro massage. Unique jet options (including adjustable jets for energy-efficiency), handsome surrounds and FiberSteel construction underneath make these spas built to last. With up to 94 individual jets and seating for between three and seven people, and even more for swim spas, expect a cost range of $3,000 to $20,000. Cal Spas offer limited warranties ranging from 1 year for cabinets to 5 years for the shell's structure.

    Wow very nice. A big difference between this spa and your plug and play one. I thought you were going to get an artesian spa. Looks very nice and good luck with it

      We would have, but it was the difference in responsiveness from the two different showrooms we went to.

      Come back and let me know what you think about the lounger. I've heard so many people say the love them, or hate them. I'd consider a lounger in my next tub, maybe. So, let us know your experience. Good luck with the tub.

    I love that tub! Would you happen to know the width of that bad boy? I'm concerned the opening of our side gate is not wide enough.

      40 inches from top to bottom.

      @@GebosGarage thank you! Did the packaging add much to that?

    • @GebosGarage
      @GebosGarage  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@deathinsight No, not really, and if the packing gets in the way, they can always remove it. These guys were pretty good with delivery. But be cautious, most places will sell you the hot tub, but then it becomes completely your problem if you can get it to where you want it to go. So, I think its good you are doing some investigating a head of time. I just came in from doing a water change. I am all set for another few months!

    looks great... looking to buy one in the coming months. any other recommendations aside from a lighter tub color (for better lighting) and passing on the exterior lighting? thanks!

      The digital control panel is nice and modern, but when your fingers are wet it doesn't always respond. If the larger digital control panel is an upgrade that comes with a cost, skip it, and go with the older push button controller instead of the fancy touch screen display. I like it, but it irritates me when it doesn't respond. I have to dry the screen, then dry my hands, which isn't always easy to do when you are sitting in the hot tub. You will love the hot tub itself, though. It's very relaxing. More than I thought it would be. We enjoy it. Also, stay away from the Frog Sanitizing System.

      Gebos garaje why do you stay away from the frog sanitizern?

    • @tecnicocompu8918

    • @GebosGarage
      @GebosGarage  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The "Frog" 🐸 system doesn't work. My water was always cloudy when using the frog ball. I even called the frog company to inquire if I should be doing something additional to help the frog keep my water clear. They said no, the frog was ALL that was needed. I tried for a long time to get it to work for me. Finally, on the advice of other spa owners, I got rid of it. I now use chlorine weekly, and I haven't had a problem since.

    Should I get one with or without lounger and also is as that the tub making that loud noise

    • @GebosGarage
      @GebosGarage  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      They say 1st time buyers get a lounger, but 2nd time buyers do not. It's all personal preference. I chose not to get one simply for space. They take up one whole side of the tub. But they look comfy.

    Is that the Cancun-X EC-840BX or Cancun-X EC-867BX I just ordered the Cancun-X EC-840BX and I'm very excited. Also the sales men told me this tub has a phone Wifi feature where you can control the tub from work with your phone.

    • @GebosGarage
      @GebosGarage  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      This is the 867BX. I was not offered the wifi option, but it does have Bluetooth speakers installed. It's been a great tub, even through the hot days of summer. We turn the temp down to 98 and it feels great on the summer mornings and evenings! Enjoy your new tub!

    How does the lighting look at night? I've heard lighter colors will be more effective with lights than darker colors.

    • @GebosGarage
      @GebosGarage  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I believe you are correct. We have had this discussion about the lights ourselves. We think the lighter tubs would be better. I am not overly impressed with the lighting on this tub. The outside cabinet lights are fairly dim, too. If I had to do it over again, I would pass on the upgraded cabinet which got us the exterior lights. Knowing what I know now, I would also go with a lighter tub color, for various reasons, one is for better lighting. Bit, overall we still love this one. It's just things we learned along the way that will help us with any future hot tub purchase.

    What is the size of your patio and did you have it reinforce for the hot tub weight? I just extended my patio to 17x26 hoping that's big enough, your hot tub looks like around the same size hot tub that I just purchased, 92x92

    • @GebosGarage
      @GebosGarage  ปีที่แล้ว

      My patio is 14x28 and a six inch pour. I forget the psi of the mix they used. I did not reinforce. Let me send you the video link of them putting the concrete in. My hot tub is about that size, 8 foot all the way around.

    Can you shut off that Volcano jet in the middle of the floor? It seems like it would be kinda annoying / maybe? What’s your impression of it? Thanks

      We love the center foot thing, its the best part of the tub in our opinion. But yes, you can divert the water to somewhere else, and it's like turning it off. It also gives your feet something to brace against so you don't float out of your seat.

      Funny, you should ask.
      So, it was just over a year ago, and I paid a local fella around $1000 for parts and labor. The installation was perfect, and it looked great.
      Well, last month, the tub motor/pump stopped engaging. There was power to the tub, and the control panel came on, but the motors wouldn't engage.
      It was under warranty, except for the $135 service fee. The spa repair guy came out. Said the tub was fine, but that my electrical was only sending 110 not 220, as he checked with volt meter.
      Turns out the breaker panel with the 50 Amp fuse went bad. It melted inside the panel where the black wire goes into the fuse. The plastic melted.
      The spa guy doesn't do the electrical, so I called the guy that put it in initially. He came back out, and I had to replace the breaker box outside the house, and he rewired it for me. The spa breaker box was $160, which came with the 50 Amp breaker. Yes, I paid him a little bit of money for coming over right away and getting it fixed. According to the spa guy and then the electrician, sometimes these things go bad. So, that was my experience. I'm back up and running with a new box and breaker.

      There is a hose tucked into the side of the tub. It's a black cap looking thing. Unscrew the cap, turn the valve halfway, and let it drain.

      We decided against the lounger because we wanted a full four corner seating capability. The lounge takes up space. Maybe I'll try it in my next hot tub.

    Still happy after a year?

    • @GebosGarage
      @GebosGarage  ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm happy that my kids use the crap out of it all year long (we don't have room for a pool). I use it once a month, maybe. Yes, you do have to maintain your water quality weekly. If you fall out of this routine, you'll be shocking the cloudy water back to clear, and that takes some time/effort. So don't miss your maintenance routine. Overall, would I buy another one? 🤔 I don't know. Maybe. If the kids didn't love it, probably not.
