[Blasphemous] Crisanta's voice dub - before & after DLC

- After DLC the Stir of Dawn update, some NPC's voices seem to be re-dubbed. Tirso and Ludovico of Albero, Esdras of the Anointed Legion, and Crisanta of the Wrapped Agony.
Especially, Crisanta's voice was changed so dramatically, so I made this comparison video.
Crisanta's voice before update felt loud like relentless hero declaring punishment, but voice after update feels so threatening like snake's hissing.

I found the original voice to be a bit too young sounding for a figure like her, the sharp undertone of the second voice suits her nicely, the spanish one is nice too
Agreed tbh: Crisanta should've had a stern and older voice since the beginning, fits with her character much more. The 2nd VA really nailed it, while adding more expression to the entire script: the first Crisanta was somewhat...devoid of any emotion. This Crisanta is genuinely angered at the Penitent One.
The new voice is far, far superior. I wish her final quote in the good ending was included also.
Yes, I watched the ending some hours ago and found her voice is different from the one before boss fight. But unfortunately, I didn't record it as video because I focused on DLC new bosses.

Old voice was so goofy. A lot of the voice acting really took away from the tone.

Well it's a small Spanish dev team so o Guess finding propper actors for every voice was harder than the usual triple A cast, considering that they didnt have a Spanish dub on release and some changes in voice lines after and all the additions from dlc shows that they actually invested on improving this game, it was rough at the start but now shines his true potential
@@gotgunpowder I personally think Esdras' VA did a very good job. I also believe it was one of his last acting roles before his death.
The single difference between something we'd soon forget to an eternal, epic moment is this voice acting difference right here.
The old voice honestly just didn't fit with the rest of the tone of the series. It lacked gravitas, something literally everyone else in the series had.

This is kind of a good example of how visuals and perception of personality influence how we feel voices should be in fiction. But if this were IRL and we saw some badass warrior w/ that original voice, we likely wouldn't think anything about it.
recently i got to that point and i read the subreddit to this and i didnt even knew i had the improved version. reding all those complaints while having the dlc voice i was asking myself: wtf is wrong with those people or wtf is wrong with me. i really thought they were complaining about the dlc voice version but now i can understand those complains from the past

Oh, wow, I didn't know they fixed this. I played Blasphemous a couple months after it came out and Crisanta's voice was like the one blemish on an otherwise immaculate game. So glad they fixed her awful nasally voice. It was straight cringe. Sounded like some terrible anime dub.

Lmfao. First it was a terrible American accent voice. That accent only came to be about like 150 years ago. The new voice is so much more authentic.

There is no expression of that voice actor, its looks boring when she is like nothing but excpet there is not expression of the word she is saying

The expression is perfect, it can be fit for police actor.
First one is just like reading script.
The second is like she plays role in a movie.
It's weird, I fought her soon after the base game released and for some reason always remembered her sounding more like how she sounds AFTER the DLC. I guess my brain was like "This is what she SHOULD sound like so it's what you'll remember her sounding like". Haha. The first voice sounds so out of place in this game for some reason. It's like they just brought in some rando and was like "Hey, read these lines like you're really passionate about something". Like all other voiced characters sound so right for the game, like the voice actors were really trying to put themselves into the shoes of the characters, but Crisanta Pre-DLC just sounds so weird. Haha.

Dude it's like day and night the first one had no authority or power behind her delivery and the second actually sounded like someone fit to call themselves captain
The second one is definitely superior...But the Spanish version (game's canon language) surpass them all.
I miss the old voice. Really gave her this feeling of being strong and righteous but also kind of immature, like she'd been blinded mentally by the Miracle.

Newer crisanta sounds like the zealot she is, in the dlc her voice breaks during her new dialogue whch adds a hint of frustration and madness to her
The original voice sounded more modern the new voice sounded on par with the game

The Spanish dub is amazing, and is my favorite version of Crisanta.

The old voice isn't actually bad, but it's the wrong one for a character of Crisanta's chops. It makes her sound like a combatant without years of experience, which could be a good character, even perhaps a good counterpart against the Penitent one, but not done like this.
The new voice is much more serious and older. Her words also are now full of weight. In comparison , the old one is much younger and honestly didn't really fit the character Crisanta depicts; the head captain of the anointed legion and someone who is way too devoted to her own beliefs and religion
The first voice is just Janice from accounting helping the dev team out
I actually like the first voice more. It's an interesting juxtaposition to hear a young sounding voice coming from Crisanta.
But it doesnt make sense, im not talking about her tone of voice, Crisanta would work with a tone like that too, it's the Nuance and inflextion that feels off, that Made her sound like some naive teenager princess, doesnt fit at all for that reason

I enjoy the juxtaposition of the first voice. Objectively the new voice is better/very obvious, but the first is more of an interesting/abstract artistic choice.

The new voice is definitely stronger and more regal-sounding, but I kind of like the old voice. It makes her sound a bit like a petulant child...which she basically is, given what she does after the credits.

@@suleymanbabak1973 In the previous version, after you defeat Crisanta she flees. You defeat Escribir and commune with the miracle by impaling yourself on Mea Culpa and your flesh turns to bark.
At this point, you are lauded as a hero and a saint, who rescues the people from the Grievous Miracle. However, Crisanta, who was too scared to face her death at your hands, is apparently too salty to let you or anyone else have a moment of respite. She finds your body, still in communion with the miracle, and wrests Mea Culpa out of you while saying, "And thus shall your name be erased under the heavens."
It reads to me as extremely vindictive and yes, childish. The day is fucking saved, but she would trade everyone's salvation for the salty runback. But, with a new voice for Crisanta comes a new story, and a new ending. Just as her new voice is superior, so too, is her new ending.
*I have nothing against the OG VA, but that OG dub is cringe...*
