    Its not "be merciful" its "have mercy", it changes a lot in a catholic context.

    • @dezlovecraft5247
      @dezlovecraft5247 3 ปีที่แล้ว +17

      @Chewbacca For the "Kyrie eleison"! that would traslate to 'oh Lord, have mercy' Some think that the Lord have mercy is an extension or conclusion of the penitential act; others exchange it for a song of forgiveness; others, that this invocation is merely penitential, that is, that through it the Lord is asked for forgiveness and nothing else; others simply omit it. Ultimately you can have some confusion in what defines the acclaim. Hence, then, the need to get closer to understanding the Kyrie eleison (but saying that "have mercy" and "be merciful" are the same its a grammatically wrong statement). In the Gospels we find some passages where the invocation Kyrie eleison is addressed to the Son of God (Mt 15,22; 20,30). For Saint Paul, Jesus Christ is the Kyrios, the Lord, which suggests that the first Christian disciples of the apostle, could have used Kyrie eleison as an ejaculation to address Christ and request his help (the miracle in this case).
      The invocation Kyrie eleison (Lord, have mercy) reveals in itself two realities understood by the one who directs it, and realized by the one who receives it: the acclamation and the supplication. The acclamation comes to be the praise, honor and recognition of Christ. The supplication will then be the request addressed to the Lord, to pour out his grace on us and help us in the midst of our weakness. Being part of the initial rites of the Mass, this invocation becomes the confident cry that the believers direct to Jesus Christ, who will speak shortly afterwards in the liturgy of the word, and will be given as food in the liturgy of the Eucharist. In spanish there are different ways to adress people, and the most formal one is the one used as "have mercy" than you giving a command "be merciful" you don't talk god like that lol.
      There are tons of bible passages that talk about the Kyrie eleison I just gave you, but if you want more information you can, I cant tell you that the Kyrie eleison first appeared in the East in the middle of the fourth century, in the Antioch and Jerusalem liturgy. Two testimonies confirm this: the first, Book VIII of the Apostolic Constitutions (380). Also "ten piedad" would be traslated to "have mercy" and "be merciful" would traslate to spanish to: se piedadoso. "ten=have" and "se = be" are different words. So its also a wrong traslation.

      Quite honestly I'm disappointed in this music. It's actually not dark enough, not sad enough, not depressing enough, not dramatic enough, not epic enough.
      It's just not enough of anything for me really. It's far too subdued for me.
      If you want proper menacing dark music from a video game, look up shadowlord from NieR replicant, or shadowlords castle also from NieR replicant.
      If you want dark somber music, check out mourning from NieR:Automata.
      If you want dark doom and gloom, check out snow in summer from NieR replicant.
      And if you want to lean into the horror side of things, and more cosmic side of things. There's the entire bloodborne ost which does this kind of dark music much better.
      And the 2 NieR games I mentioned, replicant and Automata do this kind of music much better too.
      Automata has the better soundtrack between the 2 games, replicants ost is just more similar so I mentioned it more here.

The guy from the studio plays metal, so Stir of dawn has more basslines and guitars on its tracks. The OST from Blasphemous 1 has black/death black metal vibes on it, I'm not sure if those come from Viola itself or rather has something to do with White Tower Studio while mixing.

      yup, there's a lot of themes that translate great to games... i mean, have you read the angels and demons descriptions as told by the bible? but yeah, no big studio has the balls to make something with Christianity themes, in fear of criticism... props to game kitchen, good example of how more creepy/badass a game can be with this, instead of hurr durr muh vikings

      Having artists like Goya also helped a lot. They heavily inspired on his Black Paintings for some of the nightmarish beasts in the game. But yeah, I'm amazed how somehow this studio actually made me respect a little bit more christian religion, if not as an ideal of virtuous living, as a complex system of beliefs tangled with its own sorts of mythology.
      I get the feeling every religion and mythologies should have its own set of games (including at least one Souls-like) that explores how creative/bright/dark can you get.

    Does anyone who speaks the language know the meaning of Taranto in this context? Is it 'Tree/Oak for my Sister?'. Admittedly I don't know the Brother and Sister's lore that well either, but I do remember the charred tree.

    • @Sugman123
      @Sugman123 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      Just checked it out. Taranto is kind of a subtree of flamenco, the latter can have different kinds of singing/rythms/structures etc within it. This game mostly takes roots from the southern part of Spain, from culture to architecture, music, traditions (kind of), religion etc. I encourage you to search whatever you don't understand on a site called RAE (Oxford for spanish speakers) in google and translate it back to English. This game has a lot of terms and references even not evident to us spaniards because of the inherent "Souls" obscuring lore stain.
