    My goals are to grow my hair to 10-12 inches by the end of this year right now I'm 7-8 inches and also to try to not braid my hair a lot so maybe 2 times for this year is good enough I realised that when I last had braids which were in November I haven't put any in since and my hair grew a lot and got healthier I had about 51/2 inches of hair and between November and January I grew 3 inches also I want to ensure that my hair is well taken care of (by myself of course) I wash my hair once a month but I started moisturizing my hair even more because it was dry and brittle but now I wash it twice and in cornrows and twist that helps too much manipulation isn't good for me. Deep conditioning is key never did it before and when I did girl my curls were popin.

    My daughter is 9 years old and she has about 20inches of hair curly (I had to measure it this year cuz it’s to much) , I don’t do her hair a lot at all it can be a few weeks or even a months, I do braids or twists… most people would say that’s bad practice but when it’s time to do her hair I detangle with my hands it literally takes almost 6-8 hours and then to wash it takes another 1.5 hrs almost I know it seems extreme but taking the time to do her hair really has saved it! We also have never put any heat to her hair and she has never received a cut. She has had the same
    Head of hair since birth. I try to tell people do not do anything to your hair just leave it alone, like she said give your hair a break let it grow naturally less chemicals.
    I do use olive oil as well for her when I condition. I don’t let my daughter get her hair done by anyone. Like literally, no one touches her hair, these practices has allowed her hair to grow down her back curly! I don’t even want to see how long it will be when it’s straightened. Lol

  • @TheeOriginalLolo
    @TheeOriginalLolo 3 ปีที่แล้ว +19

    Okay 3 things:
    1. My hair goal is to have tailbone length hair by the end of this year and if not, that goal extends to next year!
    2. I lowkey want to grow my hair in natural protective styles without weave. I love braids, they're my favorite but I feel like I want to learn how to grow my hair while it's free and not just lazily in protective styles that have to have weave incorporated if that makes sense?
    3. Yes, genetics aid in how fast/thick your hair grows naturally but anyone can grow long, healthy hair if thats what you desire. Short hair is beautiful btw! But realize we have grown up in a majority white society that instilled self hate in us from the beginning. Just because you haven't found what works for your hair doesn't mean it doesn't exist. For example, people with naturally clear skin exist but there are tons of people who don't have naturally clear skin but found something that allows them to have clear skin, the same works for hair! Good luck on your journey!

    Your tips were great! Genetics plays a HUGE part with our hair. In reference to wash n go’s (I can’t speak for the braid outs and twist outs...Ion do those lol) I only style my hair once every 7 days. It goes in a bonnet at night and all I do is give it a quick head toss from side to side and I’m out the door. My hair is almost waist length. So I guess it depends on how each persons hair responds to those styles and what they have to do to maintain it. As always...folks should just do what works for them. 💕

    I was at my goal and trusted someone to do my hair. I had it sectioned and detangled. She took all the sections out and washed it like u said and ripped through it. After she was done she said “you lost a lot of hair in the sink”!! 😡 I never lose a lot of hair. She wasn’t going to DC before flatironing. She then rips it out more when detangling again before blow drying. When she was done my hair was so thin and so much shorter. She trimmed it and I didn’t need one. Only needed it after she destroyed my hair. Over the next 1 1/2 year I had to cut over 6 inches of heat damage and thin hair just to get it back healthy. I was almost waist length when I went in. APL when I left. Never again. Hurt my soul 😩

    Just recently found your channel. I've had this exact conversation with females in my office over and over again. They call me "Long hair don't care" because I don't do twistouts and wash n go styles. One of the few times that my hair was flat ironed, a lady told me that my hair was down my back because I don't comb my hair. I just laughed because they never believed me when I told them what you just said. I started growing my hair out from a brush cut. They wanted to know why my length bypassed theirs, but didn't believe my answer.

    Im going to start just finger detangling, you always did say that but habit had me picking up the comb or dendim brush. And I wash my hair every week unless I have in crochet/ other braids 😫... I'm going to stretch that out. I know you've said it before but how often do you trim your ends? And of course you're correct, it's best to make sure you're also eating right and drinking water

    Genetics can affect your thickness, balding pattern and Going grey early.Not really length because hair grows your entire life. We all grow hair around the same length of time give or take. If your hair isn’t growing it’s because you are doing something wrong or an illness. It’s just that we are uneducated about our hair

      On average hair grows 6 inches a year. The person whose hair grows 7-9 inches a year will naturally have longer hair than the 3-5 incher. The person with fast growth has more leeway with styling, hair care, or lack thereof. People with slow growth can still hack their way to long hair, they just have more obstacles.

    I totally swear by finger detangling. My hair is bra strap length thanks to finger detangling. Unfortunately I have noticed my hair is thinning in the top front of my hairline ( not shedding but maybe being pulled back and a bit of hormones) .My goals are to moisturize better and find a way to thicken it. Any tips are greatly appreciated 😊

    Hello Jai, when you say wash your hair in sections, 3 or 4, how do you do that, without getting shampoo on the other the sections? My goal for my hair is to get it's length back and have it health and stop breakage. You talk about manipulation of the hair, does that include when its in a protective style? I also have to agree about buying all these products and sticking to what you know. Thanks for the Video and advice. T

    I have a question. If your plat gets thinner and thinner the more you braid it towards the end. Is that a sign that you need your hair cut because your hair is thinning at the ends and it’s suppose to be thick along with the rest of the braid. Could that be a sign of too much heat?

    • @rootsofwasabi
      @rootsofwasabi ปีที่แล้ว

      Your hair is thicker at the root/base and will be thinner as you braid down. It doesn’t necessarily mean that your hair needs to be cut. It even happens when you use braiding hair for box braids etc.
