fine hair gang here! lol density is thick but as soon as I do my mini twists it "thins" out. Use to hate it but I've learned to accept it and find my fine hair community here on youtube! 🤗 thanks so much for this!
I have fine hair also it looks thick but like you said I do my twist and it looks thin. I found by spraying my hair with water at night adding leave in condition and oil to my twist and plait them down at night. The next morning I spray a little more water and the get thick and juicy. I do the braiding at night to moisture and keep frizz down
I thought I was the only one with thin mini braids, from all my big puffy hair. But isn't it sooo comfortable just doing your own natural hair in braids? Thanks for Embarcing, Fine Hair Density (FHD)! Some people have samed me, for my natural density; oh, the stories, I could tell. BUT THANK YOU FOR SUPPORTING FINE HAIR DENSITY (FHD)!!!! YOUR HAIR LOOKS MARVELOUS 👌.
Fine hair is a texture meaning the strands are fine. Density is the amount of hair you have on your head. So (fhd) doesn’t make sense, perhaps you mean thin hair density
A few weeks ago I saw a family of about 4 women with small twists just like this. All styled in various ways but their hair was done their backs. This video was confirmation that I need to give this a try.
I have the sane routine basically my hair stays in twists and one of my friends asks me all the time don't you tired of wearing your hair like that and my answer is always no. I wash it, moisturize it and care for my hair like most naturals and it just thrives like this! I only wear it down for special occasions and just had it hot comb for the first time in 10 years and I'm now getting close to waistlength which I thought was impossible but thanks to my mini twist has now taken my hair to a whole other level! Thanks to you youtubers I watch and learn everyday I finally am reaching lengths I never thought were possible!!! Thank you for posting all the helpful tips I have truly learned a lot!!! I now make all my own hair remedies and all and my hair is growing out of control! Thanks again!!!!
You are hands down one of my favorite youtubers! Super relatable and down to earth. No big crazy set up. Just you, your hair and a camera! I love it! Welcome to NY!… kind of! Lol
Yassssss 👏🏾 girl! I’m apart of the “fine strand” community. Ugh it is so hard to find someone with hair like mine. I’m so glad you posted this video. I appreciate this. Yes girl I love seeing this style too. I would never wear it out in public, just throw on a wig or hat, but now you’ve given me the courage to do so! I don’t like to do much to my real hair at all to get it to grow better. After having kids, my hair has taken a beating so I’m going to do this more often and be confident in public like Heyyyyy! ❤️😊
Those minis are really cute. I wear mine out sometimes. When I exercise, swimming and when I just want my hair to breath. Headband wigs are my go-to now because they’re simple and easy. I love this tutorial. NewGrowthNaturals is a Caribbean influencer and this style and other braided styles with the clients natural hair is all she does. All of her client’s hair are healthy, thick and in different lengths of long. These work. Love it! ✨💕
Fine hair gang woop woop!!! Looks great! I did twists and added flexi rods at end LOVE IT!! Little curls at the end with twists OMG my go to style! No wash and go on this head!
Did twists last year and my heart sank with how stringy it looked. My hair was soooo soft when I took it out though. Let’s just accept this and love our hair regardless of the journey
I dislike & love doing mini twist. I dislike mini twist for 2 reasons doing them in the beginning & taking them down in the end. I love mini twist just because I am a lazy natural & it a great low maintenance style, that's very versatile. I hydra & moisturize weekly to help keep my hair healthy. Congrats on the move again 💕
I do mini braids and I feel the same way, at first when I started the routine I was excited about the experiment, "could mini braids be what leads be to my dream?✨"... Now I'm already groaning at the takedown and installation process, but at the same time, it means i leave them in long enough for them to be a protective style, if a style is easy to do, it's so tempting to be playing with your hair. But installation is also exciting, when you incorporate the new growth and your braids look longer than the last set 😀
Oh yes I definitely agree. I remember my heart breaking when my twists didn't turn out like Indigenous Strandz😄, fine nair struggles are so real. I've been mini twisted for 15 months now and haven't looked back. My hair is super fine, same length as yours, and low density. I put in 400 twists to give myself some volume but maintenance is a pain to be honest, I retwist a small section every week and wash every week and a half.
I wore this style for about 2 months earlier this year and it really helped with length retention! I will be doing this style again for another two months and see how much more length I can retain.
I completely agree with the dry hair with the cornrow braids under the units. I haven’t graduated to 80 braids yet, but I do about 20 braid/twists all over at night I use the cream of nature moisturizer from root to ends.
Trust me I know too. Cornrows/braids cause me sooo much breakage. Even if I moisturize them under my wigs etc. My ends always thin out with braids, ill have so much new growth and it never matters cause my ends are so weak. Im going to give thr twists a try
It actually holds up very well. Am wearing it now and it been a week and it still looks fresh. Just tie it down before bed. And you can do different style so it never look old. And you can still wear your wigs.
I have done mini twists three times. First time round, I used product on the whole strand before twisting it. Twists turned out a lot thinner and more sparse looking than the other two times when I only used 'product' (Camille Rose Almond Jai...) on the end of the strand. So now, I just use some almond oil on the strand and then some 'product' on the end of the strand. Makes a big difference to how thick or dense my hair looks.
Your hair is full and lovely. Extension and wig culture has skewed our perception of how much hair is typical for the average head. Doing them damp would give a fuller look, but they might frizz more.💕
This video has encouraged me to twist my natural hair (as a style option). I have been natural since 2016 but I have not been wearing my hair out AT ALL.
This makes me happy!!! .. I did mini twist on my hair I looked like a child :( my hair is thin I wasn’t comfortable & I constantly see thick type 4 hair ! Also the comment section makes me happy that I’m not alone 💖!!
I love watching your videos! My hair is just like yours so it's nice seeing someone inspire me to style my hair! I love the versatility 🥰. I can wear these out or put on a wig when I feel like it. I'm all for these mini twists on my fine 4C hair 🙌🏽
As someone that lived in Connecticut for years, I loved the accessibility to NYC... And the ability to hop on a train and go home right after. It was a good decision to choose Stamford over the city. Also, Stamford itself has nice places to go and you're near the mall, too.
This video came right on time! This is def gonna be my next hairdo, my hair needs a break from all of this styling. And I have the same issue with my fine strands but I find that doing mini twists help give my hair more volume compared to mini braids.
I use ALOE VERA, ROSE WATER AND LAVENDER WATER (not to be confused with water infused with those oils) to mist and hydrate my hair. I find them more hydrating. I found them at a beauty supply store but you could buy a dozen of roses or lavender and make it on your own just by letting the petals soak and be absorbed by the water.
WOW! Listen I stopped this video almost at 7 mins and then started reading comments! When you spoke of not having big juicy twists and saying why isn't your hair looking like the others you see, I was like EXACT questions I've asked myself. After doing my mini twists I was most disappointed and then relaxed making sure I enjoyed my hair! FHD (like Joyce Wright said) is also where I am at! Thanks Jai...
Thanks for the transparency, I felt the same way about my hair. My hair is about the same length as yours in this video. I get the volume after a couple of days but not as full when I started my natural hair journey and this is my favorite protective style!
Thank you so much for explaining the density, or fineness, of your hair. I'm not a big fan of my hair in small braids or twists because I think it likes thin, and there's too much scalp showing. Your hair is beautiful, now I'm going to do twists this week.
Beautiful! My hair frizzes so easily, but i can not complain about thickness. I would advise you to use a mixture of rose water and vit E oil, 50/50 or 75/25. This is what Yannie the locologist advises people with locs to use, it worked when I had locs and still works for my loose natural hair :)
I LOVE this style!! Thank you for answering the question on why my "mini" (not as mini as yours, but I plan to try this) don't look so full. I honestly thought I was doing something wrong.
Yes ma’am this is exactly how I do to my hair ! It truly did wonders for my hair as a protective style and then when the shrinkage does come those cute curly ends !! I love 😍
Your mini twist/braids always look so nice and neat! I'm about to blow dry my hair for the first time in almost 2 years😳. I'm scared to death! We will see what happens....I may decide against it once it dries🤣🤣! I'm so happy you found a place that you like...CT is just a train ride away from the city. Can't wait to see your new space. Safe travels to your new home🥰🥰
That looks great! I like the sleek look and it doesn't look thin to me.They will plump up once the humidity hits them. Your hair is long! I was doing the low bun thing for the past few weeks and my hair was so crispy from the heat and humidity that it wasn't even cute. I had to get myself in gear and go back to my twists🤣
I always come to your channel for inspiration on which style I'll do next. My hair density is quite fine so I'm not going to do these twist yet I'm looking forward to it when my hair gets longer hopefully by the end of this year. Everytime I attempted my hair looks too short. Twist are my favorite look. I'll rewatch your crochet twist and do those until.
My mom was really a no-frills, no-fru-fru type of woman. We RARELY got our hair straightened as kids growing up and our weakly style was a headful of plaits on unstretched, unblowdried hair. I thought they were ugly and I hated them. It was also the only time in my life that I had waist length hair.
Thank you for showing your hair texture, I am all natural and can not find women on utube with fine strands like mine. Meaning my twist outs and braids are not full and fluffy either. Also I have been using rosemary herbs in (boiled) water to add moisture to my hair. This has been giving me the superb growth 🥰. I hope this helps I can't wait to start wearing my twist-outs publicly😁 too. Thanks again for being you 🥳😘
Fine hair chick here as well. I also wear single plaits but under my wigs. Those plaits look great on you sis and you're pretty too. I love your accent. 💖
This was on time, I would love to create this style, I have a few questions 🙋♀️….how long can you keep them in, and what’s the best way to take them loose without damaging or losing hair🤭. This is really a fabulous summer go to. Thank you for sharing and congratulations on the move. Exciting 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾🙏🏽💕🥰💐🌸🤩
All I can say with taking them out is to be gentle. It takes me a few days to take out so I just prepare myself to stay in until my head looks decent lol. I keep mine in for about 2 weeks. I'm afraid to go any longer bc I don't want them to loc up or Tangle too much!
Tfs. I can def grease my scalp, wash,dc,hot oil thermo cap all while still in braid/twist every 6wks and a much needed peace of mind..Praz the Lord. Nothing beats a peace of mind. Thanks so much for sharing. I've seen progress....
This came just in time! I literally just did mini twists in my head last night. Mine aren't as small as yours tho. I didn't count but maybe 20-40. Maybe i'll count them tonight 😂
I have the same issue with fine hair, it’s super thick but when I put mini twists in it’s so thin. Now to make them juicer I twist wet and use only a light spray on leave in conditioner and mousse after they are done and I let it dry in the twists and it puffs up nicely without being frizzy.
These look great on you! You’re always my very first go-to for any hair ideas I think of bc it’s seems like you’re my hair twin. But with these twists or any protective style, how do you keep your wigs or clip ins from ripping out your hair? That’s an issue I’ve had.
I'm loving your twist girl they look super cute on You! I've been twisting my hair since lockdown in the UK, wearing only indoors. I have definitely seen a growth in length but my edges, girl I'm still struggling to grow 😩 any advice would be welcome 😉
Lol at wearing the cornrows 😂🤣 I completely understand. I relax once a year so I'm guessing I might be semi-natural?? Anywho, people always tell me my hair is so full but I just don't see it 😂 Maybe I will try this style and see. Yours is so pretty and long, I would definitely wear mine everywhere if it looks neat and long like yours! 😍 Congratulations on the move, your home is always so beautiful that you don't even need a special set-up for filming. Your decorating always give me inspiration when you're talking about hair! 😆 TFS💕
You can get the air water from Walmart for 5 bucks to fill your spray bottle. Then use the l.o.c method to spray with liquid, do your oil on your scalp and hair then your leave in conditioner. Usually last a few days between. Hope it helps
My hair is very fine and Irecently caused breakage along the edges because I did permanent color and my hair is salt and pepper with strong gray pathches at my hairline. I recently got a good trim, and I am trying to nurse it back to health. i use the same water bottle, but I only use it with distilled water. I have been using the melanin hair care line. I am going to try these mini braids and check out the results. Thank you for the video
Thank you for this vid. I have been dying to start incorporating this in my routine. I am going to add beads and jewelry to mine. Aww congrats on the move up here 2 the north!!
I think my fine strands would prefer styles like this. When I add hair (such as doing braids or spring twists) or wear wigs a lot..I don’t see much length retention. I think it’s just too much on my strands.
U have convinced me to do the is to my hair. I feel you with the cornrows. When u take dat wig off and u have straight back braids, who wants to go anywhere like dat? Lol, I mean u still have to put a scarf on ur head which is what I try to avoid when wearing wigs.
You're so beautiful inside and out, good luck with the move and the stress management of it. Also my golly your hair has grown, I kept waiting to see if your twists had extensions. You did that girl.
Any tips on parting and How often do you redo the whole thing I also do these but with probably around 45 twists but I wash my hair once a week because my scalp gets dirty fast I keep them in for a month because I have to ask my mom to do my twists because I can’t part to save my life lol but they get so frizzy and I scared they will lock it’s happened before .Nothing against locks they cute .
Bruh wtffff the same exact thing happened to me. I NEVER WEAR MY HAIR OUT. Wore it out once for a week recently. I lost a bunch of hair and my head is tender. Ughhh 4c hair is it’s own beast am I right 😂🤣.
I don’t blow my hair out and instead of gel I use bees wax. My hair is really fine and then it’s thin in the front. Definetly wasn’t in love with it for a long time. I was cutting it yearly for a while but it’s been almost 2 years since I cut it and It’s really a learning curve. Fine hair gang🙋🏾♀️
This is how we black women maintained our hair back in the day, I mean before relaxers, weaves wigs etc, when most of us knew how to take care of our hair. The less you manipulate our natural hair the better. Plait it and leave it ladies. But let it breathe. So minimise wigs. I bet this woman's mum knew how to look after hair.
i also have strands on the thinner side, my mini twists come out like this too - i dont mind the look but i tend to add extra hair to the style or wear my hair in a bun for this reason
Good luck with your move. This is a great look and a great idea for hair protection. It's cute and versatile. I can see how they would make caring for your hair easier than with cornrows. My concern is the "takedown" since they're so small. I checked some old video and didn't see a takedown (i could have missed it). Could you give some pointers on how to remove them safely. Plus, does the gel get hard in your hair? Sorry for all the questions.🙏🏽 Thank you for all your content. So are straight-back cornrows a bad look in public? 🥺 I cornrow and put it in a pony all the time.
Cant wait to see your new postings and videos from Connecticut with you and your beautiful family! I love everything you do and show us, especially Mr Isaiah 😉.
It’s a sign! Lol. I wear wigs and I just took my braids down and threw a couple of twist in my head and said I’m going to try this twist thing under my wig. Hop on YT and here you are confirming this for me!
I SO LOVE THIS !!! i seem to like all natural styles.. my hair is medium length and would like to try this next thanks. If you were to feed-in hair for a little added length, What hair would you suggest??
fine hair gang here! lol density is thick but as soon as I do my mini twists it "thins" out. Use to hate it but I've learned to accept it and find my fine hair community here on youtube! 🤗 thanks so much for this!
ditto. fine hair and fine density. never had thick or dense hair. and as i am older it thinned more on top
Same here!! Fine strands, high density but extremely fast growth. Lots of detangling lol
i am learning to just accept my thin hair, looking for ways to style it naturally
I have fine hair also it looks thick but like you said I do my twist and it looks thin. I found by spraying my hair with water at night adding leave in condition and oil to my twist and plait them down at night. The next morning I spray a little more water and the get thick and juicy. I do the braiding at night to moisture and keep frizz down
So me!!!
During quarantine I decided to give mini twists a try. I never took them out, now I have locs, lol. Yours are really cute!
This is sweet! :)
This has me dead cause this is something I’d probably do
Love this!
It never dawned on me that ppl do this style and take it out. I've only seen it done for starter locs.
I have mini twist now with fine hair I pray I take them out soon or I will have dreads also. Lol
You are not alone. Chile my hair is bra strap length but when I mini twist/braid/flat iron it looks so thin
You're welcome!!! 🤍
Same here!
Fine hair is a texture meaning the strands are fine. Density is the amount of hair you have on your head.
So (fhd) doesn’t make sense, perhaps you mean thin hair density
Tashi is right. Fine, medium, coarse texture = thickness of each strand. Thin, medium, thick density= the number of strands per square inch
I wouldn't describe them as thin or flimsy at all. I think they look great!
Thank you!
Agreed
A few weeks ago I saw a family of about 4 women with small twists just like this. All styled in various ways but their hair was done their backs. This video was confirmation that I need to give this a try.
It's really the best style. Now, how small is completely up to you, but I say give it a try!
Whenever I do these braid-twists I retain growth. I have learned to be patient taking them down to avoid tear. I’ve learned to love my 4C hair
I have the sane routine basically my hair stays in twists and one of my friends asks me all the time don't you tired of wearing your hair like that and my answer is always no. I keep my hair in mini braids for 11 months of the year. I redo them every month
I wish you'll update us on this style. So we can see how it's holding up.
It actually holds up very well. Am wearing it now and it been a week and it still looks fresh. Just tie it down before bed. And you can do different style so it never look old. And you can still wear your wigs.
I have thick type 4 hair, my mini twists can last 3 weeks. However, I don't really wear them under wigs.

These look so good! I like that they aren’t so full, looks nice and sleek and not fuzzy haha. Perfect for dressing up or corporate life
This video has encouraged me to twist my natural hair (as a style option). I have been natural since 2016 but I have not been wearing my hair out AT ALL.

My hair destiny is similar to yours.

Yass. I do this. Every few days i harvest hair loving herbs from my garden. I rather grow the herbs to be certain i get the best. These herbs help.

If you want them fuller looking, you part bigger sections. The twists wont be as compacted and tight and will give a denser appearance
FINALLY someone with fine hair like mine!!!! It’s beautiful and Gives me more confidence to wear my hair like this! Thank you!!!
Mini twists grew my hair out sooo much. Major change in my length.
Thought you were wearing extensions at the beginning of the video, your hair is really flourishing!🤩
You see me friend😂
Thanks for the transparency, I felt the same way about my hair. My hair is about the same length as yours in this video. I get the volume after a couple of days but not as full when I started my natural hair journey and this is my favorite protective style!

Yessss I’m loving this🙌🏾 and not to mention your channel as well, such an inspiration 🤗
Love your content and I love mini twists!! Trying to get more comfortable wearing them as my hair is shorter 😫
I struggle too!! What I've done is use loc jewelry or any hair accessories.
Beautiful! My hair frizzes so easily, but i can not complain about thickness. I would advise you to use a mixture of rose water and vit E oil, 50/50 or 75/25. This is what Yannie the locologist advises people with locs to use, it worked when I had locs and still works for my loose natural hair :)
I want to thank you. I never thought to braid my twists first. I was always fighting with puffy hair the next day.
I love your hair a lot!! ❤ Plus yes I too find that my hair prefers braids instead of cornrows...next to no breakage😊
When I was a kid this was my main hairstyle and my hair was so healthy and long, Im considering going back to this too
I LOVE this style!! Thank you for answering the question on why my "mini" (not as mini as yours, but I plan to try this) don't look so full. I honestly thought I was doing something wrong.
STOPPPP I AM TRYING TO BREAK OUT OF MY MINI TWISTS AND MINI BRAIDS RUT (it’s all I wear!) and this is gonna make go right back in 😭😍
I love mini twist/braids!! I sometimes add some hair (kinky spring type hair) to add a little length
I love your hair!! Wishing you great success as you and your family take on this new adventure!!
Thank youuuu🤍
Yes ma’am this is exactly how I do to my hair ! It truly did wonders for my hair as a protective style and then when the shrinkage does come those cute curly ends !! I love 😍

Keep doing your thing sis, I love learning from you😙😙
❤
boil dried rosemary, with water, add it to your spray bottle. I usually add a little oil too, that helps with length retention as well

Thanks again for being you 🥳😘
😀
Praise you..80 braids 😳. This looks so good on you but just about anything looks good on you.
Thanks gorgeous!❤
Fine hair chick here as well. I also wear single plaits but under my wigs. Those plaits look great on you sis and you're pretty too. I love your accent. 💖
Congrats again on the move! Prayerfully his commute won't be tough each day...🙏🏼. Blessings for your family 😊.
Love the style!
I am a teacher and I have thick hair and I love twists as a protective style in the summer ❤️ thanks for the tips 👍🏽safe travels 🥰
Thank You, you answers are on point!! I will definitely try this style.👏🏾👏🏾💐💕
Tfs. I can def grease my scalp, wash,dc,hot oil thermo cap all while still in braid/twist every 6wks and a much needed peace of mind..Praz the Lord. Nothing beats a peace of mind. Thanks so much for sharing. I've seen progress....
Thank you so much for this video! I have a similar hair texture and density to your hair, and I also love mini braids or twists as a protective style.
Awwwwww.... girllllll. We luv u tew....... I can't wait to see what Stanford brings us. Your fall videos are going to be FLEEKY!!!!!!!
Hopefully, yall may just see me in the house under a blanket 24/7 😂
Very cute, looking forward to putting my hair in braids when warms up and grows more, thanks for tutorial!
This came just in time! I literally just did mini twists in my head last night. Mine aren't as small as yours tho. I didn't count but maybe 20-40. Maybe i'll count them tonight 😂
honestly I'm so glad to see your hair because my hair is naturally thin as well.
Love your hair just did this to mine! I find that Bantu nots, or riding my braids gives them a curl and make them appear thicker! ☺️
I don't use wig clips. They're not necessary and cause more harm than good. I haven't worn clip ins in awhile now
I'm loving your twist girl they look super cute on You!
I've been twisting my hair since lockdown in the UK, wearing only indoors.
I have definitely seen a growth in length but my edges, girl I'm still struggling to grow 😩 any advice would be welcome 😉
I LOVE THIS STYLE! ❤ I would not be looking forward to taking it down though🙄🤣
Right! It takes a few days. def time consuming lol
First video ever saw you. You’re beautiful and amazing and can’t wait to try this style!! ❤️
Lol it's like TH-cam knew what i was thinking, was just about to do braids right now
I honestly suck at doing these lol but im gonna try again. School started back and i need to not have to do my hair lol. Love this.
Thank you😁
I think my fine strands would prefer styles like this.
I used to live in Stamford. Good choice for more space and not a bad commute to NYC especially if you’ll be working in Manhattan. Norwalk is cute too!
I can tell you really love your hair!! It’s long to so your doing everything right 😂👏
❤
You're so beautiful inside and out, good luck with the move and the stress management of it. Also my golly your hair has grown, I kept waiting to see if your twists had extensions. You did that girl.
Thank you so much❤❤❤
I love this style on you. Good luck with the move. Good luck and God Bless!
Those braids aren’t flimsy! They are very cute and sleek
ughhh this is so gorgeous
This is the same issue I have with my mini braids, they are so flat.
I do twist under my units for this same reason. So I can still be presentable when I remove the unit.
I like cornrows. They can be quite elegant.
I also have a lot of hair, but when I do the twist, they are not full either. These look good on you and the parts are clean. good job
Hey! I would do something with texture to it or tight curl. Straight hair would be my last resort.
I think they're gorgeous!
