Just had a thought, I do that sometimes. When you cross over the first rope and create the loop, could you not make it bigger, to push through the whole coil of the rope? It would certainly speed things up, maybe use something like a small carabiner, to keep the rope coiled up. Just a thought.
Thanks Paul great video have been looking for this guide to make garland/ snake fenders! Do you recall the length of lines required for making 4 foot fenders ? Thanks Jon
Brilliant, thanks for that… I’ll be having a pop soon!👍
Very impressive Paul. Always wondered how they were made, thank you for sharing your knowledge. You must have a lot of patience
As if I don't have enough to do, now I've just got to try the model version.
Well done mate, informative as always
Looks amazing . Look nice around the house as well .
Brilliantly done.

Great. Would like to see more
nice work brother Yeah I also work on shore and I make finders as well So I understand how time consuming infrustrating it is😂
I bet there are some hefty fenders on those tug boats too?

I have tried that Graham but you do need to have the four ropes very organised , which can be time consuming!!
Not knowing shit about it I would think the twisting/ untwisting would be near impossible with the rope being passed by the handful .
I meant to say offshore on tug boats

Hi Jon
Glad you enjoyed the vlog.
The 4ft fenders used rope lengths at 29ft
What size of rope? Thickness? Also, is there a calculation for knowing what size produces what length fender?
I use 12mm polypropylene
Regarding rope lengths , I have just experimented and by trial and error roughly worked out what lengths work for each fender
Cheers. I think I will try 5/8 just over 15 mill because I have an 18 meter dutch wide beam barge.
