You both have pushed me to stop saying I'm going to travel someday and to actual get up and do it.this summer I'm going to Montreal and the summer after I'm doing a study abroad in France. So thank you both for being so inspirational to me.
Lorie aww thank you so much I’m still trying to plan out a date that will fit with school and I’m also trying to convince a friend but I’d love to hear from you where you think is a good place to visit
Hey Damon and Joe! For all the *very* inexperienced flyers like moi, who’s traveling (alone) to another continent next year. Would it ever be a possibility of making a ‘Airport Guide: for Dummies (me)’? Like a step by step, start to finish, here’s the do’s and don’ts, or whatever you can think of. I’m afraid of fumbling up at security or not being able to find my terminal etc. (note; am a travel dummy with anxiety) so uh, thanks! Think about it!
I always ask airport staff for help - you can sometimes get conflicting info so persistence is key, if someone's not helpful, ask someone else. As someone with anxiety, having plenty of time to get there and get through security makes me feel a bit more in control (usually give myself 2-3 hours depending on the airport - some airports tell you online how much time to allocate for security checks etc). Even if I end up waiting in the terminal for ages, I would rather be there than stuck in traffic or a queue! When I arrive at a new location, I sometimes speak to taxi drivers/bus drivers for advice on where I need to be in terms of getting a transfer (aka train, bus, mini van). In most experiences they've been more than willing to help, one guy even called my mini van driver for me as my phone wasn't working! From experience, I would always suggest using local transport as pre-paying for an airport transfer for me has always been unreliable and if you're flight is delayed they sometimes just leave. If your hotel/hostel offers it, they sometimes give free transfers so that's another way to do it. On connecting flights I always ask other passengers if they've doing the same one as me so that we can find our gate together - that eases the anxiety a bit and it's good to know you're not the only one stressing! Make the airport staff aware of your situation as they sometimes will try and help you through as quick as possible. In general, make sure you book flights with a longer transfer time, especially if you're going into a country as you have to get through passport control. If a connecting flights gives you less than 60 minutes then I would avoid it as it's incredibly stressful, and obviously don't travel on the last connection as you could be waiting a while for your next flight if you do miss it! Try and book connecting flights through the same airline as well rather than two separate tickets, it save a lot of hassle even if it is more expensive. In terms of security, most airports require you to take larger electronics out of your hand luggage so do that in the queue. I always take my own zip-up clear bag for liquids with me to airports so I don't have to fumble about with it when I'm there. Always take a backpack as they're easier to squish into overhead lockers and you're less likely to be asked to put it in the hold if there is limited locker room. If you're checking in a suitcase, always pre-weigh it at home - don't risk getting charged for being over the weight allowance. Take a spare change of clothes/underwear (as well as facewipes/toothbrush) in your hand luggage just in case your luggage gets lost. Some airlines provide you with an eye-mask/headphones, but I always take my own as the cheaper airlines charge you for those items. Hope this helps - from a fellow anxious traveller!
Because of your channel I’m literally going to backpack through Europe next year. You guys literally motivated me to SHUT UP AND GO! Love you guys! Also great tips, the more I watch your channel the more I learn and more prepared I become !
Yeah good tips, one missing tho. I've been budget travelling for 18months and most of the places I stay the accomodation is free because I signed up to a housesitting service. i cant recommend it highly enough, gone are the days of the couch surfing, its like having a black card for airbnb lol. this is them tinyurl.com/y7s87zu5
When our 12th Collab of Christmas failed to show, we figured we’d collab with each other instead and give you the video you’ve been thirsty for forever. (Cuz we wanna see y’alls travel games on maximum velocity in 2018) Check the description box for the link to our blog for more in-depth info on this overload of information! ❤️ @damonandjo ❤️
Like. How to make the money for it, how to make money while doing it, how to get perks, how to improvise, how to make the most of the time/find stuff to do for free, cheap, or "underground", etc.
I do realize you have some of these but not all together, and some of the videos are a bit outdated with new travel restrictions, safety issues (minority female), all the other dumb craziness the presidency has exacerbated. 🤣
I didnt even know that i needed this! Ive been having a hard time figuring out how should i go abroad and work. You gave me a lot of choices that i should look into. Its like a christmas gift =) i hope yall have a happy christmas❤️ love you❤️
I miss these videos where you were both together and filming. This was the peak of my watching you both. It's not the same when you both have separate channels. Also, I hate when people say they don't want to stay at hostels. I love staying at hostels. I've met so many cool people through hostels that I kept in touch with or did stuff with while travelling. Totally worth it.
This was literally so helpful because I am about to study abroad in Barcelona and I have been going crazy trying to plan all my travel. Cheap travel is the best travel because your girl doesn't prioritize very well, like I will buy a ticket to Paris but then only be able to afford water while I'm there lol
Im studying at John Cabot University abroad this fall from Sept. - Dec. from University of San Diego i love this channel!!! cant wait to travel europe!
You guys are everything. I've used so many of your tips from when you guys where barely starting on TH-cam and it was so worth it!!! Love you guys!!!!!
Hey Damon and Jo I’ve been watching you guys since your NYC days and it’s been LIT. I wanted to say that whenever I’m nervous or anxious I always watch you guys. You always calm me down and make me happier. Thank you for making funny, no drama, and informative videos. Also Damon’s fashion and over aesthetic makes me happy 😁
Boltbus is honestly a real one for those $1 bus fares!!!! Saved my broke ass so many times traveling between Baltimore and NYC! Besides that, boltbuses are so clean, comfortable, and safe feeling.
Thank you so much for this! I feel so inspired! I recently just graduated from my degree and have been feeling so lost lately but this really lifted my spirits because now I see that the possibilities are endless and I can go anywhere I want and do whatever I want 🙌🏼💛
not just is there a replay button but also there’s a button for watching at .75 the regular speed so u can get all the information and damon&jo sound drunk so thats a win-win
Guys that was FAST !!!! You did it great in 5 min! Just wanted to thank you for all the tips you have given through your channel you are so great. And by the way je vous aime trop, vous êtes les meilleurs! J’espère que vous reviendrais vite en France pour organiser un nouveau MeetUp!! 💚💚
omg YAS!!! this is exactly the video ive always needed!!!!! and i lowkey love that layover website because you get to spend time in a different country to the one you're actually travelling to 👌🏻
Love you all! I reallyyyyy enjoyed watching a new video from you all every day during Collabmas. I logged into TH-cam every afternoon and was excited to see new content from you on a regular schedule. I know you all are working harrrrrddd... Hopefully you get some time to rest now that it is over.
Please do a video about backpacking and how to plan a backpacking trip and basically everything related. I'm starting to plan my backpacking trip for after I graduate
Which 8 people disliked this video? This is USEFUL information, I’m shookkkk😪 Thanks Damon and Jo! Love y’all so much, and I wish you always the best!💖💖💖😘
ahh i showed my spanish professor skyscanner because yall use it, im taking her again next sem so she finna get psyched for the student faculty one!! thx!!
This is soooo helpful. I actually have a job now and I'd love to travel to New York or Washington to visit some colleges and do some touristing. Safe travels and happy holidays! xo
I love you two, you're amazing, my god. My friend and I are thinking about traveling and the tips you gave were the best to inspire us to shut up and go. And you did that in 5 minutes hahahah
Regards to the credit card. It’s best to use credit card rather than cash? I’m travelling to France from US. And where is it best to exchange for cash? Thanks!!! Hope for an answer!
The thing with the credit card is that it depends where you're going. For instance my "problem" is that I'm going to Colombia, of course there are some places where I can pay by credit card but when I go to Amazonia I don't think they'll accept it.... Do you suggest I take all my money by cash? But then it means I can't leave it in the hotel room, so I have to take with me, which isn't "safe" either... uhhh idk You're both amazing bth!
BLESS, I knew lots of these already but some were still new to me :) overall, I think just being really flexible with your schedule (ie traveling for fun!) is easiest way to get travel deals 💫
This is like when there’s 5 mins left in class and your professor says let’s get through this last entire chapter real quick
What if you showed up to a hostel and Damon and jo were your roomies.... I would die 😂(of happiness) 💗
Please do a twenty minute one ☺
Philip please :)
Philip 😂😂😂 yes please

i'm travelling in March and i have several layovers/airports that i'm going to.
