Hey Winters! You are the best SC TH-cam channel out here. You definitely top A1 due to your clarity and ability to explain what your doing in an organized and consise manner!!!
Nice great video. I've been having my friends digest your content, I purchased them both Gladius's . They are literally only 2 weeks into the game and don't play every day. One of them is really grasping what you are explaining. And is running vhrts solo and helping on player bountys already. I think that's proof you are onto something here. Anyways have a good day man, it's been a while since we've last talked.
What do you do if your enemy keep staying behind you/on your tail the whole time? Especially when you are fighting a light fighter with heavy fighter? Do you just go straight and dcple and turn?
Upstrafe and reverse with boost, if they get rear push through. It's all about timing, most ships can't do anything about it though. Heaviest ship that can deal with lightfighters (of skill) is warden. And Maybe the Connie with Vtol mode, but the bigger ships don't have the speed to threaten light fighters imo.
@@JohnathanWinters hmm, interesting, never thought of that, maybe it's because I'm still pretty new to dog fight, few days ago got a Gladius chasing me on port olisar, was flying an Ares Ion, and I couldn't get the Gladius off my Tail, ended up crashing to the space port lol
@@0Metatron could be, mine was like 2 days ago, don't know if it's you or not, but I do feel that heavy fighters aren't meant to fight light fighters, to hard to keep up with the light fighter.
Sure are quite the angsty complainers in the comments. The one time I had to PVP you, I had to resort to high speeds to keep my survivability up and manage distance. I really dig this video. Well done. Time to find some half competent pilots to practice against.
Thanks this was very helpful especially that downstrafe to avoid nosing i need to add that to my toolbox. Can you please make a video about the speeds of combat? In your example both fighters committed to a knife fight which rarely ever happens in the pu. So if you can make a video about how to deal with massive the energy delta and how to slow ppl down or how to fight people who disengage any time they have shield damage that would be greatly appreciated
Just keep your relevant speed (the one in the brackets) at as near to 250 as possible when getting close to your opponent and if you are about to blow through and pass make sure you pre turn to face them before you’ve passed them so that you’re not playing catch up
Serious questions... Why not fight with the speed limiter set to max SCM speed? Isn't the new flight model speed max going to be "somewhat around" the current scm max? Granted I think you will be able to boost higher than the current max scm.. who knows by how much... In the video, when the two of you are trying to separate is the only times you really went past the scm for the fight resets.. if you didn't have the capability to go higher than the scm with shields would you have still tried for the separation?
Eh, no need to dogfight when you use the right tool for the job. Dogfighting is suboptimal and only occurs in the rare event that you have similarly balanced groups of fighters wanting to engage; bringing a few missile boats to clear out the fighters instead is optimal. This is great for dogfighting enthusiasts, but better org tactics and bringing the right ships for the job is way more important.
I don't deny your skill but what's the point since the current fly model requires both players to agree to do that? What if I'm closing the distance being evasive and fancy and the opponent just thrusts back and aims with gimbals (which would make a lot of sense game-lore wise)?
Because when u fight big slower ships, knife fighting is how you beat them. Conversely, if you don't know how to knife fight in a big ship, you will get dunked on by any light fighter.
@@JohnathanWinters Yeah, right now, but that's not really believable, is it? The bigger the ship, the more fire power it can carry, the bigger the power plant, the stronger the shields, etc. But so far CIG restricted big ships so that it'd be possible to use small crafts to pirate. IMO getting too close to a big ship in a small fighter should mean insta death by some auto turrets and I think CIG will finally get the game to that point. I think it's part of what they're doing with master modes, as in: if you want to fight that big ship, you have to slow down but if you slow down, it'll just escape. And if big ships had auto turrets that are hard to avoid (which, again, makes sense game-lore wise), to rob it you'd have to either be extra stealthy or somehow disable a single turret or use two fighters from two different angles so that one could distract it while the second one gets closer or approach the ship from some natural blind spot, then EVA past the shield and blowtorch your way inside, finally disable defence from the inside and open the door for your friends to get in and take over or - and that's even better - you jettison the cargo through the back door without them knowing they're getting robbed. Now that's a proper heist.
What I will do is just floor it when ever there is a notion that some a hole is going to be around. Let them try to keep up, and the new way to ruin their day is to floor it then hit decoule mode and your ship will keep going an never stop.
Hmm that wont work against good pilots, if they know your intention is to run, they will just capatlize on you trying to run and stick on you like glue.
@@JohnathanWinters We dont really know that at all. That is mere speculation, and what works today still does. If CIG is going to make it where you have no choice but to fight or surrender, it wont make for a good platform to play on. That will ruin the product. Most the player base are not inrested in fighting other players on a daily. This goes back to the beginning. If CIG panders only to the PVP crowd the development will die.
@@wraith511802003 I'm just trying to explain my train of thought, not have a debate about what will or wont work. I have zero interest in what ifs. I thought you where referring to current and someone who had an interest in learning pvp, my mistake.
dont waste your time on this. it asumes none-gimbal mounts and no turrets. turn of cpld strafe anf circle, that all you need, it even works with multiple hostiles, which the moves in the videos does NOT
This video is specifically about knife fighting so I'm confused where turrets and gimbles come into play since any ship with a turret won't be knife fighting. And gimbles well gimbles are garbage so no one cares about them in pvp. As for any of the techniques in this video they are all valid. You are just in a higher speed oval-shaped fight with turret gunning ships. The same evasive maneuvers merging and splitting to regen is part of that dance you have to do to survive against skilled hurricanes or scorpius's . Also you explanation of what works really doesn't work. I'm sure you've gotten lucky in the PU with few kills because you cork screwed. But if you played this game at a medium to high level you will quickly learn that you will be fucked if all you do is what you say is all you need. The moves in this vid are pivotal! In top tier dogfighting you WILL NOT succeed unless you embrace the techniques . He's not making this moves up on his own. This is literally just a break down of how every ace is going to rush up on you and want to fight. Add multiples and you are dead anyways 2 good pilots will fuck any good pilot up it becomes simple math because everyone knows how to close distance and chase and not fall behind. Don't let your own ego let you think you understand pvp fundamentals because you smashed some noobs in the pu. It's an entirely different game we pvp fanatics and ranked pvp leader board chasers are playing if that's the case.

Pull back, inverted on display for ease of following.
