Why would anyone spend $373.00 (currently on sale, actually price is $466.00) on this toy with horrible print quality, when you can purchase a Bambu Lab A1 mini, a real 3d printer with excellent quality and larger build volume, for $300? I do acknowledge that the Kokoni has other features, but what's the point when the print quality is so bad?
Thanks @bassam.2023 You make some fair points! Ill be honest as a very early beginner, Ive really enjoyed playing around with the EC2. I have also discovered that you can improve the quality of the print finish in the options mention of the app when about to print so Ill have a little play around with that and see if there is any improvements! Unsure just how good the quality will be of course! As for the price well that will be a big factor when he comes to trying 3D printing, that's why Im so far behind! Ive had a little look at the Bambu Lab A1 Mini on their website...looks very interesting indeed....👍 Thanks again for watching and commenting! Much appreciated!
Kokoni is a company that make excellent marketing videos, and not much else. They're an idea company that never fully brings their ideas to market, just enough to say "we did X" to investor, even though when the rubber hits the road, X sucks. But don't tell the investors that. How long will they be allowed to fleece investors? As long as there's suckers with money to be parted from, i suppose.
Hi there, thanks for commenting! I dont know much about Kokoni to be honest but Im (personally) quite pleased with the EC2. Of course I'm just a beginner and this is the only 3D printer Ive ever tried so still a long way to go. I can see from your channel however you are VERY knowledgeable of the 3D printing world! (Nice content btw!) I also do still think there is room for improvements which hopefully Kokoni will do with both the app and future models.
@@mcphoneyI definitely appreciate the beginner friendliness of it. Kokoni's last kickstarter bordered on a scam and ultimately failed to deliver on half of the things they promised. But it had a great video. I have a couple of videos about it on my channel. This one, the print quality is so bad, it really is difficult to recommend over any other similarly priced 3D printer. But, again, beginner friendly. How much is that worth overlooking?
Definitely make a good point there. And unfortunately Ive seen a lot of products over the years come out with a flashy video to entice customers only to find once it arrives...its absolute garbage! Overall I suppose if people do want more from the print itself in terms of quality, more so than the overall "child friendly/quick set up" then they will need to look else where! Ill make sure to have a look at your videos about the Kokoni "almost" scam btw.👍 Ps. Apologies about the late reply!
This was a neat video. However I must say, as someone who has a couple years of experience with 3D printers, this machine for the price is kinda outrageous. They did everything right in terms of the family oriented design, but it really should have been able to make better quality prints because of size and perceived rigidity. But on top of those reasons the price. Creality has made many entry level 3D printer models, and even though none of them are really perfect, they can all teach valuable lessons and have great quality prints. They aren't as safe to have around kids but they still function better for the money. Still a good video though.
Hi @Bowsmin12 Thanks for watching and commenting! It does seem, according to comments, that both the price and the print quality are not too favourable! Which is a shame because Ive really enjoyed playing around with the EC2! I am only a beginner however and still have a lot to learn myself! Hopefully in the future the price can be reduced to reflect the print quality more. Saying that, It does appear you can ask the EC2 to spend longer and create a better quality finish when printing so Ill defo have to try that out and see how the result compare! Thanks once again for your feedback and thoughts! 👍
Nice review! This Kokoni looks like they took a cheap Easy Threed X1, gave it a nice UI and an enclosure. But for the price, there are better options with bigger build plates. Bambu Lab makes a very nice user experience as well, even for new users. I hope this printer keeps your interest in 3D printing and you explore it and better models in the near future! Thanks for sharing
Thanks for watching and commenting @neondreams7 I must admit Ive been desperate to try out a bit of 3D printing....just never got around to it. But after my experiences with the EC2...Ive really enjoyed it! Of course this is very basic 3D printing from what I can gather, there is not really much to it. But hopefully Ill get around to doing something a bit more technical with another "higher end" model in the future! Thanks again! 👍
@@mcphoney I'll admit, I was happy that you were happy that you got a successful print! I suppose I might have been a bit of a "snob" thinking about this printer. As any time a print actually works, reguardless of the quality, it is always a win! I'll be on the look out for more videos! You might look at the new "Ender 3 V3 SE" and their reviews for your next step as well, or like I mentioned, Bambu Lab.
Not a "snob" at all. 👍 You were just passing on your knowledge, and its always great to hear what people think, plus it helps other viewers too! 👍 Much appreciated for the alternative printers too, Ill look at them both if I get enough pennies to purchase one. Think it would be the Ender 3 V3 SE, that seems pretty cool and at a good price point too! Ps. Apologies about the late reply!
This was really interesting and informative (and amusing) with some valid but constructive criticisms of the product that the manufacturer will hopefully take on board! Must admit I had no idea a household 3D printer of such a compact size was even available!
Thanks @HairyTRIBBLE1701 Glad you enjoyed the video! The feedback from more experienced users about the EC2 has been quite interesting and it would appear I still have a lot to learn as well as Kokoni has to produce! But Ive still enjoyed playing around with it! Thanks again for watching and providing your thoughts! 👍
I'd say it's based on almost 10 year old tech, like the Maker Farm Prusa. I'd even wager if it has a heated build plate, as that wasn't an option early on and isn't always needed for PLA. But I remember when I got in to 3D printing on my original Ender 3 about 5 years ago, and I got prints like this. . I was excited. So, yes, compared to modern printers, the penguin looks bad but again, 5-10 years ago it was acceptable and more so to a new user.
I have discovered an option to improve the quality of the print, which does of course use more PLA and take longer to do, but still Ill have to try it out and see if it improves! Thanks for watching and commenting though! 👍
It would appear that their are other models around that can produce better prints for a more competitive price. They may not be as "child friendly" or as quick to set up but good to know before splashing out! I however really am enjoying the EC2 so far but I am just a beginner in this field! Much appreciated for your thoughts btw! 👍
Yes indeed, for new users like myself I was quite impressed. Must agree the print isnt exactly the best like Ive mentioned in the video but still quite cool. However for more experienced users this will obviously put them off! Thanks for watching and your thoughts btw! 👍
This printer is a fucking joke for the price, and not in a good way. If you really want a meh printer with absolutely zero print area just get a ThreeD

I'm seeing it for $299 on Amazon. 🤷♀️
Still a horrible deal.@@wileycovington4497
Only reason to buy is ignorance.

An underrated TH-cam Channel. Keep up the great work Sir, excellent content as always 👌🏽
Thank you @abzdee6708 That really means a lot! 👍👍👍

No problem! Hope you enjoyed the review! 👌
Can this printer use STL files from a 3rd party?
Ill be honest Im unsure, but I do know it supports STL files so "technically" it should. Sorry I couldnt be more precise!
That print looks terrible...
Yeah I struggle to see the appeal, even for beginners. At $280 you're not even really saving money.

It is too bad. It prints small things badly and too expensive.
