Tendrías que hacer un sistema de cierre y apertura de tu fragua, algo fácil de manejar , sugiero una compuerta vertical con contrapeso. Sólo me atrevo a decirte esto como un admirador. Would it be easier to shape the face of the hammer with the grinder prior to quenching? While its nice and soft? Any reason why I wouldn't want to do it that way?

I'm not a blacksmith but I am curious. Could you have just used a press to push the ram to make the handle hole? Not sure what that would do.
