- Colin Chapman once mentioned that the ethos of every Lotus was to simplify and add lightness. Times have certainly changed for the Lotus brand and this new Eletre is a far cry from the lightweight sportscars Lotus is well-known for producing.
Lotus has had to adapt to modern motoring requirements and the Eletre is the first attempt at an electric car and an SUV. What's it like to drive, what's the performance like and has Lotus designed an interior worthy of its R4 million price tag? Johnny Bravo from Wish (Ciro De Siena) susses out the newcomer and gives us his point of view on the newcomer from the British brand.

There's just something about seeing/watching a car tested on local soil. I've seen 3 or so Eletre reviews before (obviously on overseas YT channels) but watching this being tested locally, by our very own presenter & figures interpreted in Rands, Kilometres & Kilowatts as opposed to $/£/€, Miles & horsepower. Lovely stuff. Must have also been nice to meet Newey. That must be one of petrolheads biggest moments. The car looks like nothing else in its segment. Eish, but the Urus or any ICE equivalent has a growling V8/V12. Keep up the good reviews, gents.

I've watched quite a few reviews of the Lotus Eletre and the Lotus Emeya... Lotus is back!!! 🙆🏻♂️ I can't even choose between the two cars. 🔥🔥 That Unreal engine responsiveness on the touch infotainment screen is 👌 even the UI is 👌

I can’t remember seeing a Ciro video with basically no negative comments like ever. All I need is about R4 349 000 then I can get my hands on one!
I could never afford something like this, and even if my Powerball dreams come true, I could never spend 5mil on a car. But it looks stunning.

When James from Throttle House said that the Eletre had the best interior in recent times I didn't believe him. But if Ciro said it, it must be true🤷♂ But how can it possibly stand up to the Bentayga and it's swiveling showpiece 🤔
It can not be overstated how impressive it is… driving a Lotus…round signal hill… while talking to camera 😭
The car is fitted with proper sound. Saw KEF speakers there.

Great review as usual Ciro👌🏾, but I do not think you compared this vehicle to the Audi E-tron Suv in terms of EV capabilities such as range and pricing in relation to the E-tron and other EV SUV within the SA market, and what about the famous cooler box boot measurement😢. Any particular reason why not mentioning all of the above? My apologies if I might have missed it. Great videos watch it while having a meal most of the times 👌🏾👌🏾 I even influenced my girlfriend to watch it with me😁

The Eletre comes off the Polestar 4 platform another great car from the Geely Volvo/Polestar subsidiary so it must be awesome. Great show as usual. Watching from Cozumel Mexico 👍

The Lotus Eletre has a RRP range of £90,805 to £126,305 in the UK
The Lamborghini Urus has a RRP range of £185,512 to £213,744 in the UK
Only in SA does a company like Lotus think they can rip you off and charge the same price as a Urus for this when in the UK they charge almost half. They did the same thing with the EMIRA pricing it much higher in SA compared to the direct competition in the UK. Nice cars and all but no time for a company who just up their prices because they think they can.

A Cayenne Turbo E-Hybrid is a second slower, but a R1 million cheaper, more practical, great resale values, and sounds wonderful! (Sounds wonderful if you don't drive the Cayenne in full EV mode, of course)
