905 hp is no joke....It's the king of Speed with hyper Suvs....170,000 isn't a high price. I was expecting it to be around 280,000. It has a cool sleek look

I bet the Model X Plaid would smoke it. That being said, this vehicle definitely looks better. Lotus should've made a hybrid instead. Most EVs made are trash and definitely won't hold up

@@peterjordansonthe2nd731 eah it is, but i used to own model x plaid and bought Lotus eletre R. Trust me The performance you can get from Lotus Eletre on track and street is muuuuch more than on Plaid X. Plaid X is like Ford Caravan with 1000 hp engine inside thus handling like a trash.

Wow! Great video! I own a Tesla Model X Performance and I have to say this looks way more premium and has great performance as well, wow never thought I would say I’m considering changing my X for an electric Lotus hyper SUV! The paint looks amazing, carbon fiber options, that interior looks incredible, Im sold. Since is a new technology from Lotus we just have to give it a little time to see how the reliability is and then give it a go.
I’m going from the model x long range, I’ve just ordered mine. Very excited!
To me, the only interesting thing about electric cars are that they'll be the first autonomous driving cars, but I guarantee that tech will be adapted to ICE soon after. The acceleration is adrenaline inducing for the first 10 times or so, but then it's kind of meh. If I wanted a daily to drive me to work, I'd buy one, but otherwise it's "ICE, ICE, baby!"
Thats why every EV owner has a fun ICE car, since all EVs get boring.

Not in the same lead as the MXP for performance while the MXP is not in the same league as the Lotus for fit and finish.

That Lotus is pretty amazing. I never thought of this before but one of the benefits of electric cars is no break-in period. You can just start romping on them right of the factory floor.

agreed. i am in no way able to afford a 170k car, but comparing it to a 300+k car, this is a steal for the big bank rollers who love cars.

Great video Brooks. That looks like a really fantastic Hyper SUV. It really shows that without modifications it is going to be hard for ICE to keep up with Electric ⚡️in a straight line.

It's really nice but needs some noise for me. Would rather run a bit slower in the other ones with great sound than the lotus.
This is a fun comparison. It is hardly a lightweight Lotus, but it is quick and opulent. It does seem to compare well against the $$$ gas powered European "exotic" SUVs, but still is not nearly as quick as the Model X Plaid, and close to the Cyberbeast. But Lotus buyers won't care about that one bit, because it is very rare and luxurious. I wonder how it will compare against the Lucid Gravity due out later this year. Certainly it will be more exotic and rare, but likely not quite as quick.

The X would walk it by a full second in the quarter. It wouldn't be close at all.
In straight line, probably the x plaid will win. But on a track, the Lotus will easily win, since it has a sport car configuration, a sporty platform, and very efficient braking system.
So it’s 0-60 is on par with Tesla Model X P100D? But less than trimotor Model X Plaid?

I'm well impressed, Lotus has always been a British brand that was a great little driving car that could punch well above its weight but they always came as if they was still being made in a shed, I didn't ever think they would end up going this way but to make real money and rejuvenate the brand they sort of had too, fit and finish plus quality materials, I just hope once they have got money to pay investors back they go back to their roots and make some small driver focus cheaper models, obviously the engine will have to change so that's gonna be bad news for old school but maybe a little hybrid with a nice exhaust, small wheel base, lightweight????

Aint nothing British or Lotus about the Eletre. Lotus is now Chinese owned (Geely). The Eletre was designed at the Geely Design Studio and is assembled in Wuhan, China.

I still don’t like electric but I will say from %10 up to %80 in 20min is impressive. I’m used to my stepbrother’s teslas and even the supercharger stations aren’t this quick.
it's not the supercharger that are not that quick. it's the charging that starts slowing down as soon as the SoC reaches 20-25% to make sure there is no additional degradation on the battery. a standard 250kW v3 supercharger could charge a 100kWh battery in 20 min from 0 to 100% if the battery was able to take it, 17 min from 10 to 80.
a 350kW v4, 17m 0-100% 12m 10-80%
it is really the battery, cooling and BMS software that are limiting charging speed, rather than the chargers....
We need to start being a bit more specific...905EV hp. These kind of tests are outdated. We all know EV torque accelerates better, heck you have KIA's now quicker to 60 than M4s

The Lotus Eletre with over 900hp is only $24 000 more than the macan turbo EV with 630hp, and looks so much better too.
just checked and the Macan EV looks bad especially the bloby looks with the super low profile tires is really terrible
on a different note I like the elucid gravity crossover/wagon look that doesn't pretend to be either a boxy off road SUV or a "coupe SUV"

It’s not the same class. The model X plaid is a fast in straight line family SUV. But it has no sporty behavior. You will know it once you take the first corner, or once you brake. Still, it could be fun to have it among them.
@@msm4445 I own the model X plaid and a model S plaid. Owned all sorts of new sports cars and the MXPs brakes are not that great but in the corners in sport settings it will hold its own. 1.02 G in the corners and 1.25 G in a straight line.
@@macmovieman1 yes teslas are not bad in corners, but you still can go faster in corners with a real sport car, especially when you have excellent brakes. The brakes of the Eletre are the same size of those of the Bugatti Chiron.
According to my calculations the eletre r and the c8 z06 performance package would be dead even in a roll race.

Because an X plaid isn’t a sporty SUV. It’s a fast family SUV in straight line only. It has no sporty platform, no rear steering, no anti body roll, no ceramic brakes neither even real good brakes. So when you take the first corner you will fell all what I mentioned. So it’s not in the same class as these SUVs. But the X plaid is still quite a very good and very practical fast family SUV.

I have an 05 Elise with 58k, been bulletproof. What kind of problems did you have?
@e.c.1025 It was mainly issues regarding the alternator (or so i thought). Battery constantly died even after replacement, so I then replaced the alternator and it was still happening, took it a Lotus specialist in Norwich, I used to live there which was handy, and didn't have a clue either so I sold it and got a VX220 which was great but not as good as the Elise.
