    👍Nice video. Well, angelfish eat live artemia. I'm looking for micro plankton for the first few days for babies, but only live😉

    I've crashed like 6 rotifer cultures already this year T_T. One tip I would suggest is using Rotigreen instead of RG complete or rotigrow ($$) +. Save those two things for your rotifers!

    Great video. I've raised peacock gudgeons before and those were the same, everyone said rotifers only, but I used microworms for my larvae and had a really good success rate. I raised two batches at around 90 to selling point each. I'm currently researching to prep for when my clown pair start laying. I've been thinking though, I don't see anyone using pvc,I wonder why? I used pvc for the peacocks, they lay in the pipe and when it's close to hatching, remove it, attach an elbow and a straight pipe to the end, drill a hole and run airline with an air stone at the end to pull water through and over the eggs. Easy pull out and easy to keep the water at a continuous flow for the eggs. I'm going to try it, we will see.

      The reason why PVC isn't used is because clowns rarely host them. They got smooth artificial surface with bright unnatural color; my guess is that their eggs wouldn't stick to PVC that well with the micro-filaments on the base of the eggs. Also, they tend to slime up and still wouldn't look "natural" to the clowns. PVC fittings also release chlorine over time - I wouldn't doubt if they could smell that and decide not to use them.

    Perhaps your copepod tank is preseeded with rotifers?

    Awesome, video. Honestly I have only been feeding my fry flake food with success and then not feeding them at all and letting them eat the left over sediment decaying flake food and they have been surviving. I am trying to get my water parameters to balance before I introduce food again

      That’s interesting. Yes ammonia is the killer, very hard to keep it under check.
      How many fry are you getting to a month old from each clutch?

    • @nathanmciver6737
      @nathanmciver6737 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Honestly not sure how many fry. The parents keep producing and that's why I'm abit dispaontinted with not being able to provide for the babies. Its nitrite thats the killer. People are not being fully honest in this industry and have lost alot of fish. It seems abit odd, I took cycled water from the parents established tank with perfect water parameters, and I am still getting nitrite spikes. Any suggestions or methods you may have personally used? I am not new, but with getting the babies in a grow out tank I am. But theirs nothing new. Any feed back is helpful

      @@nathanmciver6737 for me it is ammonia. Very hard to control with just a air stone.
      My most successful clutch was 94 fry which are almost 4 months old now.
      Rotifers are the best. With a product called rg complete which has a ammonia blocker in it. This was my most success.
      I am new too....
      Alot of water changes on the larvae/fry tanks. Daily

      @nathanmciver6737 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Nice! Honestly I don't do many water changes and that has got me my success on breeding parents. So with these water changes you are talking about, is your grow out tank clean with a glass bottom? Only asking because that's what I did today was try and remove some excess food waste

    can you use baby brine shrimp right after the clownfish larvae hatch?

    • @madisongray2382
      @madisongray2382 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, I know for a fact you can, I heard some people who did it with lower success rate compared to rotifers (best strain of rotifer for highest success rate is still the "SS" strain of very small sized rotifers), just make sure you siphon only the nauplii using light to concentrate them in one spot and none of the egg shell casings because those shells will cause digestive problems and kill the larvae eventually. Even powder food particles such as cooked egg yolk work (bigger larvae such as pink skunk clown larvae, Clarkii, Saddleback and Maroons. Key is to keep food suspended in water with nice aeration (big bubbles) and let the fry see them with diffused lighting in the water column. Also, absolutely control Ammonia and Nitrite.

    Is there any way to filter out adult copapods from baby ones? From what I've read mixing in copapods is better for nutritient, but they can try is eat adults and choke.

    • @Max_Ohm
      @Max_Ohm ปีที่แล้ว

      Figure out the size of the adults and the babies in micrometers and then order a filter sieve accordingly.
