please search for good vet because you can't help your bird on its own 🥺 you may need antibiotics and some medical drugs. these diseases can't be treated in any other way. also GOOGLE can help you maybe 💫

Thank you so much for this!!
Over 4 years ago, my Skye-a-baby died of unknown causes. Now, she was always a big girl-And could never really fly. I’m not too sure, but whenever she tried to, she’d always just fall immediately down to the ground. But when we got her, she was that size-So we thought it was normal. Actually, when we first got her she was very active. But for some reason, a few months before her last days, she started to fluff up a lot..She’d lose balance and fall to the bottom of the cage often..We thought she was pregnant because of how big she was. She was incredibly sluggish, and stopped eating/drinking entirely!! I was terrified for my baby! She became so quiet..
I told my momma about her condition, and she said that we would go to the vet..But then the next day after I came back to school, she was gone.. I remember when she crawled up into palm. She must’ve been in so much pain! I’m so sorry, baby..
But now I know that she was probably suffering due to fatty liver. We only really gave them seeds-We bought them plenty of toys, but they broke them all! Even the little swing we got them! But yeah, now I know that we weren’t even close to being prepared for having birds..I didn’t even know how to get them into eating fruits! But now I know why she could’ve died.
    R.I.P, My Skye-a-Baby!! ????-2020 🐦 🪦❤️

I rescued a budge last summer, unaware of the condition she was in. Her previous owners thought she was a boy and she was in a filthy cage with only three plastic perches. She was under weight and lost her bottom beak due to her top beak growing so long it broke it right off is my guess :(
she’s also missing some toes because of the plastic perches she had. Whoever owns a budgie please just take care of your bird, they are such special friends and deserve to life a happy bird life. Edit I was also told by my vet she might not make it but luckily I still have her with me! ❤️

Recently, my parakeet got sick. Whistly sound, hard breathing. something grew near his beak. He ate little. Watery poop. He was quiet, but aggressive.
No vets for birds in my hometown, so asap my father gave him tiny dose of penicilin & Loratadine in his water for 5 days. I sprayed his grass with that water , so he could chew it, too.
Since he didn't want seeds, we gave him soft tortilla, corn flakes & sesame seeds, his favs. It worked!! 🎉
Always keep the cage all clean. I use a water & white vinegar mix. My parakeet is taking vit C in powder - Lemona brand -once a week.

We took her to the vet and they said that she might not survive, they never gave her back to us. She was an albino budgie named Mimi and I always called her my little vampire. My bird recently has one eye closed and cannot open it. I have no idea if its an infection or he just scratched his eye on accident. He cant properly fly or walk without his right eye and he keeps sleeping and leaning his head at a side where his eye is closed. He can eat and drink but he doesn't seem to get any better. I can't go to the vet because I cant afford it and my parents will more than likely not help me pay for the checkup. Do you have any idea what this could be?

The video was very informative on symptoms and common illnesses and I hope it helps people but the end kinda left a bad taste in my mouth… No offense intended of course but it makes it sound like your bird will die without an avian vet when reality is if you can identify your birds illness you can cure it as long as you do your research and aren’t too late to treat them as birds are very delicate and often times when you notice the symptoms the bird is very unwell and you should act quickly.
Yes avian vets are nice and very helpful but what are you supposed to do if you don’t live near one or don’t have the money to pay for one? This is a common problem that many have including myself so I treat my birds without a vet and it works just as well if not better as long as you do your research. My birds Kiwi and Grape suffer from liver disease and I have helped them over come that illness by fixing their diets by making my own special food mix that has specific ingredients to help them heal and stay healthy along with giving them lots of things to entertain them and burn any fat that might cause more problems.
Sprinkling seed in the hospital cage is a horrible idea as with some illnesses like fatty liver disease it can cause your birds to only get worse. It’s best that seed is only used as treats so if your bird is healthy make sure you get them off that seed diet as soon as possible so you aren’t stuck in a hard place making your birds sicker with fatty seeds.
