Who else always gets the theme stuck in their head when they hear the word DuckTales?

13:08 This statement made me excited. I really hate how much Scrooge has been softened up lately, to the point people actually think he's someone to look up to, when he's very much the sort of character you're meant to look down on. After reading the first issue I was very scared that he was gonna turn Scrooge into a goody-goody, so I'm glad to hear that he has an understanding of Scrooge.

If he keeps it relatively close to the recent cartoon it will be good.
It is amusing that the original uncle scrooge and Donald inspired Indiana Jones which in turn inspired the 80s ducktales

I really hope it follows the footsteps of the 2017 show. That one was amazing, and I miss it.

For those who like DuckTales - they should really read the comics of Carl Barks and Don Rosa. They are two true masters of comic books who unfortunately get often overlooked and dismissed for creating “funny animal” comics.

Another humorous Vertigo, although probably totally forgotten unlike Preacher, was a mini series called Cruel and Unusual. About a lady running a private prison. It was humorous in the sense of dark satire.

I’ve really enjoyed your interviews, and this one has probably been my favorite. It flew by and covered so many interesting topics. You did an excellent job of supporting the natural flow of the conversation whilst reining the discussion back to DuckTales at the right moments. Masterfully done!

Another great interview, Sasha. I've always been a fan of the Duckverse. It'll be fun to revisit it.

Casually Comics, the new go to destination for comic creators. I like it 👍

I like that Scrooge told Huey, Dewey, and Louie about his adventures while walking around Duckburg. Also, cameos of DT87 characters, who will be used in upcoming issues. Overall, this comic is fun and onto a good start!

The man who understands Miller's humor and that Dark Knight Returns has a lot of newspaper strip cartoon humor is the perfect person to work on Ducktales ❤

I enjoyed the most recent Darkwing Duck comics overall. I've fallen behind on Darkwing Duck and Gargoyles, but they were both good returns to my nostalgia.

2017 Scrooge was flawed. It was just more about his pride than his greed.

When it comes to writing dense, iron-clad continuity, there are a few things to consider - not only that, as mentioned in the video, readers who pick up the occasional issue without caring about the long-form story are capable of filtering out a lot of the long-term background events and just enjoying the episode (something the MCU used to be good at - telling a fun story for a couple of hours, then having a 2 minute scene that ties into the wider story) - but also that, for the type of person who cares about long-form stories and their continuity and world-building, nitpicking details and discussing holes is also fun - the people who wrote in for a no-prize weren't doing it for the money; they were doing it because they took satisfaction in patching over those pesky inconsistencies.
In my own life, I have often been the person reading individual books picked up in second-hand shops or found on the shelves at the local library - making the best of a limited selection, and almost never being able to read an entire series at once. Under those circumstances, you get very good at recognising when there's a story that's been told, but you haven't had the chance to read, and getting a feel for what happened from the gaps they leave in events. With better writing, you can also tell the difference between a story that has already been written down, and one that only exists as an idea - stories change in the telling, becoming more real, and you get a sense for the difference between a pure noodle incident, a story that exists in outline, and one that's been fully fleshed out based on how and when it comes up.

I thought this first issue was pretty good. It tries to thread the line between Ducktales and the Carl Barks stuff which is especially evident in the two page short story flashbacks. I know there’s some Barks/Rosa purists who will hate it but it’s decent fun.

I was hoping for something more like the more recent cartoon. That one destroyed and somehow honored my original nostalgia for the old one.
