The noise levels due to bitcoin mines, datacenters, power plants, and other industrial facilities are 100% forecast-able. Professional engineers are sworn to uphold the public health, safety, and welfare. So there's no excuse for not doing a noise impact study on a facility this large and this close to homes.
A developer is proposing an AI supercomputer site down the street from me. This comment helped me respond to their FB post about it - thank you. 🙏
That’s got to be a joke. EPA regulations in Texas are self reported, so if those companies aren’t telling on themselves or
Companies killing folks. No one cares. That’s Texas deregulation for you.
lol you do know this is Tex-ass right? I'm pretty sure the Govt. in charge there smooths all that pesky regulations and impact studies bullshit right out the way
Hahahaha! “Sworn to uphold the public health, safety, and welfare”. Just like Trump swore to uphold the constitution. Nobody takes this oath stuff serious anymore, “..so help me God”. What a joke!
Notice that they never build in affluent communities.
lol because those areas likely aren't next to flared gas facilities and oil fields.
Yeah the poor rancher and the poor guy who can’t remember which of his homes he was in sure are disadvantaged.
You figured that out all by yourself did ya? Yeah no kidding because its only economical when the energy is very low cost.
Cheaper land
Well, an hectare in the ass-end of Texas vs a foot in Beverly hills is quite cheaper.
This isn’t a bitcoin problem, this is a lack of respect for human life problem. Why aren’t the machines enclosed in large insulated structures like data centres are? Then they can regulate the temperature while using less energy than they currently are, while being much quieter and more resilient to environmental damage.
& it will get worse

It’s horrible that these people are going through this. However, by supporting a party that is concerned more about protecting corporations, deregulating industries & not holding corporations accountable for the damages that they cause, more & more people will suffer. Remember, the Supreme Court declared that corporations are people so money from corporations like this one will continue to filter to the GOP to protect their profits & bottom line.
No, it is horrible full stop. I don't care who they voted for, that's divisive and it is not the story. The story is that this is causing serious health problems.

I feel bad for these people. But Granbury is as conservative as you can get and the residents need to realize that when you vote for people like Ted Cruz and Greg Abbott, this is the kind of thing that will happen.
One problem will be replaced with another. When you have R's in charge, you have to deal with the tyranny of Big Corporations. When you have D's in charge, you have to deal with the tyranny of Big Government. In Texas's case, if Dems are in power, you also better be ready for a huge inflow of illegal immigrants.
@@HarryCopperPot generally more business is great. It helps grow rural communities into way bigger ones by bringing more people and money to the city. But this is an unfortunate exception as it came with a lesser known consequence.

Regardless this is a simple fix the miners should do just out of respect. Put them in immersion fluid. You get a better efficiency, longevity of the equipment (so less e waste in long run) and next to no noise. If they buy in bulk it won’t be that expensive and they could afford it or at the least write it as a business cost to help their neighbors. Most are not next to neighborhoods
Outside city limits. I’m not sure there was any heads up required
Sorry but even if there was zero noise issue, they are literally using both a power grid that clearly isn’t stable or well designed (seen from the deaths during the Texas deep freeze that occurred). However the fact this was allowed to be installed and run off anything but sustainable and green energy, is truly deplorable!
@@TheTechnoPilot I was looking for the comment about this. Watching this and seeing the location I wonder how much strain they put on the grid where they are 🤔
Do you have any source that says they aren’t run off clean energy? Most bitcoin miner loads are collocated with wind farms in Texas. Also you seem to be mentioning a completely separate issue as if it’s relevant to Texas, when the same issues would have caused problems in every region in America and already has.
And BTW this went to course several weeks ago and the case was thrown out lol.
@@savage.4.24 It's an enormous strain. There are multiple utility companies across the US saying they may not be able to keep AND residents and smaller business get to absorb all the increased costs!

Just cut the fiber optic lines. Bitcoin mining needs good internet 🤫
When you block new power plants from being built with a growing state if 30 million people, then you have loud things like this pop up.
Seems like switching to emersion cooling would be the answer. Idk why they thought a loud air cooling system would be ok near a residential area in the first place.
I read something from a person living near some DCs in Virginia I think and one of the DCs had that kind of cooling and the noise was not a problem. .
I live in a county next to Hood county. Knowing them, they voted for the governor and senator, knowing full well their stance on this issue that is effecting them. And will continue to do so. Smh

I guess non of these hypocrite's travel by air , ya know cause they would never be the cause of airplane noise . Anyway simple solution is to deal with the noise or compensate those impact by it. Looks like another Wall street funded hit piece in one of their propaganda rags.
actually it is, after the fact. The whole design needs to include noise control from the get go. Then it's only hard, whereas the retrofit can be impossible. Imagine using 100º Texas summer air for "cooling".
@@RealDavidN bitcoin will at least double in a year and they can just build a whole AC cooled building over it with insulated walls. They should do that now of course.

And it ate my baby ⟵(o_O)
America is a free country. There are no rules.
How was the gas plant better healthwise? They should be mad at who's mining, not bitcoin in general. It is like hating money cause a busy bank moved in.
This is infuriating. They need to provide these people options- relocation, insulation, or compensation.
This seems to be a very easily fixed problem for marathon. They have the capital and there’s no reason that if they want to continue mining at that location that they should change all their miners to immersion cooling. That would completely solve the noise issues and help bring peace of mind to that community. This would be costly for marathon, so maybe a better option would be to move locations. A responsible bitcoin miner should step through the front door of that community before setting up shop and create some sort of positive incentives for that community, they are in.
With OUR POWER GRID? They're idiots. 🤦🏽♀️
You are ignorant. If you knew anything about what you were talking about you'd know that BTC mining cannot exist in areas where the power grid is weak or in demand. The competition cause it to move to stranded energy like methane from land fills, free energy like geothermal in Iceland , or in depopulating areas which helps stabilize the local economy. Its simply not economical to compete with any in demand electric power.

why doesn't mara just dig a hole and put them underground. It would keep them cooler and fix the sound problem. Are they stupid?
@@rickymarwah3438 or immersion fluid is the better answer imo but yes lower in the ground less heat. They need to work on better air flow tunnels to get high up gusts which are cooler than surface air gusts I think.
More expensive to dig out large facilities though
@@catdaddycoins I can't imagine it'd increase costs to the point where disturbing the peace is the better option. Unless there is some kind of red tape about buried hardware.
BTC miners should have a decibel limit, again underground would help with cooling & reduce the noise. The solution is pretty easy but like with everything they make it all convoluted and costly.
@@rickymarwah3438 the red tape would be the shipping containers they look like they’re in need to be completely underground and then air vented out. Again, liquid cooling them takes the fans off the machines. When they’re hot the fans run faster aka louder. Fans being the issue. The liquid can be reused and would decrease their wear and tear as well as efficiency increase and no noise. The liquid gets exchanged with a wet to dry radiator and the fans on those could be slower moving.
If they’re underground and air vents upwards that might actually increase the noise since the waves would be bouncing around a bunch in the containers as opposed to being wide open with thing filters to keep the dust out of them.
I bet these complainers would rather have more fracking and earthquakes physically hurting them and their buildings.
These factories are in the countryside with very little agriculture value. They are in the best locations possible. People shouldn't live around them.

It seems to me lile they need to build insulated panels around the buildings like they do at compressor locations for the gas pipeline
If there electric bills go up how do you not get them for extorting
Is it less noisy during the winter / night ? Since less heat. Maybe the same 24/7
all that noise for fake monopoly money
Like roosters, maybe you need more roosters.
There are data centers everywhere, why is this place such a problem?
That's how BTC FUD works. If they don't use it then its a problem . If it were AWS or Google then they could not care less about the noise. Its common to all DCs. Good thing no one here shops at Amazon being such bleeding hearts for the residents of Great Oak too I am sure.

Crypto for years has claimed they can do all these things better like transferring money, sending and receiving things, containing ID’s, etc. But when you simply look around it’s rather simple to discern that the infrastructure we ALREADY have in place is not only better than what a blockchain offers, it’s also more efficient, and uses MUCH less power from the grid. Oh, the irony! Texans, proud defenders of their right to bear arms, now find themselves powerless against the deafening noise of a Bitcoin farm. One would think that a community so dedicated to their firearms might take a more... direct approach to solving this nuisance. But no, it seems the sound of gunfire is more acceptable than the hum of mining rigs.
