Great guys at DS, they did my stage two pack on a MK3 Focus ST and it always puts a smile on my face. I've even travelled from the NW to Hull to have general work done as their customer service is absolutely on point. Always worth the journey for good work and great service.

Had my new model st focus since July, I love it. Done the same lap time as my friends m240i and was only 1 second slower then a mk3 RS with track tyres round snetterton

Interesting video this one. Grade of fuel is very important to this engine and definitely uses a smaller turbo than the RS. I'd. Imagine a 300bhp ST on regular 95 pump fuel would be the sweet spot for this car. Like you said on the stock motor you never felt like you needed more power. 300bhp is right on the money for fwd cars these days and makes a compelling package. I don't like limiting myself to 99 Ron fuel as nearest pump that sells it is 19 miles away! It's like an electric charge point Lincolnshire really is like the stone age haha
I’ll be honest mate, running 99 Ron with these cars stock just like all of them I would use it. VW do recommend you use premium fuel with their GTI.. I find using 95 Ron with my ST it’s seems to use more!

m ws it is very pricey but cars in general are getting very pricey, the mk7 Fiesta ST is an excellent car with great tuning potential which you will have loads of fun with so just go for it ! No dilema 😁👍🏼
My understanding is that they will be developing their own launch control for this car as well as a crackle map which they will begin working on once they finish the Mk8 Fiesta ST crackle map. Having come from a Revo map on my Mk8 Fiesta ST I’m so glad to be able a) revert to stock for dealer visits b) changing map if I can’t fill up with 99RON c) future upgrades to mapping

I read that an additional intercooler in combination with the strongest map DS-ULTIMA plus is strongly recommended. However, it works apparently without an intercooler, too! Is that true?

What would happen if you ran the top map meant for 97+ Ron fuel on normal 95 Ron fuel are you able to switch maps on the handset if you can’t get to a petrol station selling higher grade fuel? Had my Mk4 ST for about 3 months now it’s the twin of this one in the video same splitter but smaller spacers at only 5mm it’s a great car
Gary, you mentioned the turbo lag but Ford say there is no turbo lag as the turbo keeps spinning after the throttle is lifted. The technology is also used in the Ford GT. Has the DreamScience map affected this?

A rival well known Ford Engine tuner beginning with M do a 330 package also and they rekon it brings it down to 0-62 in 5.2 seconds.... I reckon it will bring it on par with a Civic type R FK8 performance and the RS mk3........ maybe a touch quicker on a roll in higher gears.
I’ve had both cars and I prefer the Focus if I’m honest, there is a big price difference though which for the driving experience isn’t a huge difference, the biggest difference is the build quality and interior quality. It’s definitely put together better than the Fiesta. That’s why I changed my year old Mk8 Fiesta ST for the Focus.

Robinho's Left Foot It arrived the day after I ordered it. Put the map on very quickly, and so far I’m very impressed with how much more pull it has especially in 3rd and 4th gears. It certainly keeps a your attention now, especially in this weather. Overall, as Gary said in the video it feels like OEM plus, which is a good way of putting it. The power curve is linear with no sharp spikes, and it continues until the red line, whereas other maps I have had previously drop off after 6000rpm. Ultimately, the question is “do you regret purchasing it?” to which my answer would be “No, absolutely not”
100%. I'm in the same boat. The 1.5 Ecoboost 3 cylinder is a disappointing engine. I'll be grabbing one of these proper ST's once they'll let me in my contract.

Ben Mulleady did you get this package for your ST Wagon? How do you get on with not having the Performance Pack from Ford, as it appears you can’t spec that as an option?
@@steveblewer1202 yes I did although I'm not running a map on it at the moment. I put the same map as on this video on it for a while but tbh I found it unsuitable for road use. It does say its more for track focused driving which might be better. I need to put the middle range map on it but tbh as its just sat on the drive a lot currently I haven't bothered. Don't think you can spec the performance pack on the wagons but not really sure what it would have offered that I'm missing? Saying that the suspension changes could have made it better equipped to handle the extra power, I'm not sure.
I dont think Dream science will ever get the same business back that they had with the 225 as there wont be as many of these on the road! The 225 new price was around 18k. These are 30k-35k. Silly money for a ST imo.
I know everyone goes on about the LIST price but I have just got a black ST with PP, HUD and wireless charger for £20 less per month than I was paying for my 17 plate ST3 on PCP.....
Car Focused they are going to developing an overrun map. Spoke to them today, they have just finished the Mk3 RS overrun map, then they are starting to do to the Mk8 Fiesta ST overrun map then once that’s done it’ll be the Mk4 Focus’s turn.
I’ve owned two of the last gen STs in the United States. If Ford would bring this one over I would own one right now. I want it so bad it hurts to watch these reviews. I also owned an RS for a short time but it was just too stiff and not as well rounded as the ST for an everyday driver. For me the ST is the one to get.
It’s 280bhp and I’m bored already after a couple of months of ownership, so yes there are some of us that DO want more power. Roads are only congested in built up areas, so what really is the point of your trolling comment?
Car Focused minimal . It’s not 50 bhp difference though? Then you could argue much better grip in gear. Be interesting to see how much the power the mk4 power it can take without forging.
Not from a stop (RS AWD launch wins), rolling start would be close. It takes a lot of extra hp to actually pull on a car at highway speeds. Also, it's hard to put the power down with a FWD beyond 250-300hp.
Fiesta st with nexus stage 2map by laird performance she’s running around 260bhp feels really quick for fiesta...probably would benefit from a diff 🤔 only had it bout 3 weeks looks different with rs front bumper
Let's face it unless you are on a track it's all the car you could ever need on UK roads.....people rant on about front wheel drive tourqe steer this and that...it's what makes it a bit exciting or it would be a boring drive! I would have more confidence to push on in the wet in the ST compared to a Rear wheel Drive BMW like the M140i with no diff fishtailing up the road 😅. Fast in a straight line yeah! You see all these drag races with DSG cars like the golf R and RS3 - Launch mode with no skill required off you go!! .. Yeah it's bloody fast in a straight line and would wipe the arse of the ST but hit some twisty roads with a manual gear box you can't beat it and would be pushing them on!....drivers car and more than quick enough for most people's ability unless you are Chris Harris or Tiff Nedell and could reach its oversteering limits !!😅
@@leonmason77 at least in germany there isn't an automatic transmission for the ST, only for the normal Focus. And it has nothing to do with someone can't drive, it's just much more comfortable when you drive this car everyday. OK, but the turn indicators aren't led, only the front ones.
EmViO the comment about the automatic and not being able to drive was me joking about. I agree they are easier to drive, but despite that you can’t beat a manual when blasting through back roads. I’ve changed the non-LED bulbs for LED.

You can temporarily use lower octane if you're stuck, just never boost it as that's when it will det

david appleyard the 2.0t petrol was a great package. The engine was great. Well tuned and pulled from 2000 rpm all the way to peak power.

Mountune isn’t warranty friendly either mate. It used to be on older models.

I dont think Dream science will ever get the same business back that they had with the 225 as there wont be as many of these on the road! The 225 new price was around 18k. These are 30k-35k.

I know everyone goes on about the LIST price but I have just got a black ST with PP, HUD and wireless charger for £20 less per month than I was paying for my 17 plate ST3 on PCP.....

Car Focused they are going to developing an overrun map. Spoke to them today, they have just finished the Mk3 RS overrun map, then they are starting to do to the Mk8 Fiesta ST overrun map then once that’s done it’ll be the Mk4 Focus’s turn.

Should have kept your Mk3 and the 4 wheel drive! This car is struggling big time to hold the power with the 2 wheel drive
I’ve owned two of the last gen STs in the United States. If Ford would bring this one over I would own one right now. I want it so bad it hurts to watch these reviews.
I also owned an RS for a short time but it was just too stiff and not as well rounded as the ST for an everyday driver. For me the ST is the one to get.
Over there you have the Hyunday Veloster, quite nice car that we dont get here in the UK

nice way to void a warranty , its a shame that the focus st mk4 does not get enough press as its a good car

It’s 280bhp and I’m bored already after a couple of months of ownership, so yes there are some of us that DO want more power. Roads are only congested in built up areas, so what really is the point of your trolling comment?

Car Focused minimal . It’s not 50 bhp difference though? Then you could argue much better grip in gear.
Be interesting to see how much the power the mk4 power it can take without forging.
Not from a stop (RS AWD launch wins), rolling start would be close. It takes a lot of extra hp to actually pull on a car at highway speeds. Also, it's hard to put the power down with a FWD beyond 250-300hp.
What RS you talking about? Mk2 definitely, mk3 not a chance in hell

Fiesta st with nexus stage 2map by laird performance she’s running around 260bhp feels really quick for fiesta...probably would benefit from a diff 🤔 only had it bout 3 weeks looks different with rs front bumper
Let's face it unless you are on a track it's all the car you could ever need on UK roads.....people rant on about front wheel drive tourqe steer this and that...it's what makes it a bit exciting or it would be a boring drive! I would have more confidence to push on in the wet in the ST compared to a Rear wheel Drive BMW like the M140i with no diff fishtailing up the road 😅. Fast in a straight line yeah! You see all these drag races with DSG cars like the golf R and RS3 - Launch mode with no skill required off you go!! .. Yeah it's bloody fast in a straight line and would wipe the arse of the ST but hit some twisty roads with a manual gear box you can't beat it and would be pushing them on!....drivers car and more than quick enough for most people's ability unless you are Chris Harris or Tiff Nedell and could reach its oversteering limits !!😅
The only two things I dont like about the new Focus ST are :
- non dark and non-LED tail lights
- no automatic transmission
EmViO the tail lights are LED and there is an automatic option for those that can’t drive.
@@leonmason77 at least in germany there isn't an automatic transmission for the ST, only for the normal Focus. And it has nothing to do with someone can't drive, it's just much more comfortable when you drive this car everyday.
OK, but the turn indicators aren't led, only the front ones.
EmViO the comment about the automatic and not being able to drive was me joking about. I agree they are easier to drive, but despite that you can’t beat a manual when blasting through back roads. I’ve changed the non-LED bulbs for LED.
@@leonmason77 ok then nvm :D I like both, manual and automatic. A fun car can have manual, but as I said, for an everyday car automatic is quite nice. The ST is a very good car!
