Great insight to a new car's potential (which is only just emerging), I'm sure there will be some haters, but most still ride a pushbike to school!
Great to see Jared having a chat it's nice when a tuner is open and honest about tuning, whereas alot of the competition are closed shop (maybe because the competition dont know their own tunes).
However it looks like the ride in the ST jiggles and pogos just like the RS Mk3.

The Gent at Dreamscience at the start is refreshing to see on motoring content - very eloquent and knowledgeable. As is your content; much prefer this to a crackle mapped car flying through a 30 zone like he's Lewis Hamilton and recording it

Love your videos mate and thank you for sharing this , It does make that MK4 glow , Still not overly sure of it's looks but it's a grower. Certainly seems like a 'drivers' car though and holds that experience firmly and delivers from what I can tell. Impressive !

Great guys at DS, they did my stage two pack on a MK3 Focus ST and it always puts a smile on my face. I've even travelled from the NW to Hull to have general work done as their customer service is absolutely on point. Always worth the journey for good work and great service.
Yea they are good lads. I would have used them more if they weren’t so far away from where I live.

Had my new model st focus since July, I love it. Done the same lap time as my friends m240i and was only 1 second slower then a mk3 RS with track tyres round snetterton
Wish I could have one, but they are way too expensive, I have heard the new Fiestas are more fun to drive but can't get past how crap the rear looks, think I'm gonna get a MK7 ST, I have a ST Line atm

@@valterRS it's just ashame about the price tag, I've heard the MK8 Fiesta is fun to drive but I can't get past the horrible rear end, I'm in a proper dilemma, think ill get a MK7 ST, i currently have the ST Line, hopefully they'll make a better Fiesta next time or could wait for this to lower in price
m ws it is very pricey but cars in general are getting very pricey, the mk7 Fiesta ST is an excellent car with great tuning potential which you will have loads of fun with so just go for it ! No dilema 😁👍🏼
Really fancy a Mk4 in orange! Top guys at DS had my ST 225 in there a few times for various mods

The car looks a massive upgrade from Mk3, I had the diesel st and it left me feeling cold 😀.
david appleyard the 2.0t petrol was a great package. The engine was great. Well tuned and pulled from 2000 rpm all the way to peak power.
Great cars and well looked after with the Dreamscience guys.. Just wish the mk 3 got mentioned more as I’m running one with the Dreamscience imap and it’s brilliant..

Quicker than a stock RS when rolling, didn’t expect that. Doesn’t look too hampered by the wet either. I’d be looking at the BP Ultima map here in NI. Tempted.
The "second wind" is the assistance of the variable valve timing.

Interesting video this one. Grade of fuel is very important to this engine and definitely uses a smaller turbo than the RS. I'd. Imagine a 300bhp ST on regular 95 pump fuel would be the sweet spot for this car. Like you said on the stock motor you never felt like you needed more power. 300bhp is right on the money for fwd cars these days and makes a compelling package. I don't like limiting myself to 99 Ron fuel as nearest pump that sells it is 19 miles away! It's like an electric charge point Lincolnshire really is like the stone age haha
You can temporarily use lower octane if you're stuck, just never boost it as that's when it will det
I’ll be honest mate, running 99 Ron with these cars stock just like all of them I would use it. VW do recommend you use premium fuel with their GTI.. I find using 95 Ron with my ST it’s seems to use more!
My understanding is that they will be developing their own launch control for this car as well as a crackle map which they will begin working on once they finish the Mk8 Fiesta ST crackle map. Having come from a Revo map on my Mk8 Fiesta ST I’m so glad to be able a) revert to stock for dealer visits b) changing map if I can’t fill up with 99RON c) future upgrades to mapping

I read that an additional intercooler in combination with the strongest map DS-ULTIMA plus is strongly recommended. However, it works apparently without an intercooler, too! Is that true?

Have you ever had the chance to drive in a Hyundai i30n? Quite curious to your unbiased opinion, as I am looking into getting either that or a Focus RS (mk3). I really can't decide, do I go with more practicality in the i30n or do I follow the boy-racer dream and find a RS when money allows :v - I know this aint really related to this video per se but since this is your most recent one I'd thought I just ask here.

What does the accelaration 0-100kmh (0-60mph) says? What would be the difference to stock?

What would happen if you ran the top map meant for 97+ Ron fuel on normal 95 Ron fuel are you able to switch maps on the handset if you can’t get to a petrol station selling higher grade fuel? Had my Mk4 ST for about 3 months now it’s the twin of this one in the video same splitter but smaller spacers at only 5mm it’s a great car
So, for the ST 2020 which is already 280hp and 420nwt ... what would be the numbers after tuning for AUTOMATIC ? And from we could buy the tuner gage?

Sorry if this has been asked already but, how do you put the ESC into sport mode?
To turn ESC in sport mode - just press once ESC button. To turn ESC off - You need to hold ESC button few seconds until it show on screen ESC OFF info.
Gary, you mentioned the turbo lag but Ford say there is no turbo lag as the turbo keeps spinning after the throttle is lifted. The technology is also used in the Ford GT. Has the DreamScience map affected this?

Ben Mulleady did you get this package for your ST Wagon? How do you get on with not having the Performance Pack from Ford, as it appears you can’t spec that as an option?
@@steveblewer1202 yes I did although I'm not running a map on it at the moment. I put the same map as on this video on it for a while but tbh I found it unsuitable for road use. It does say its more for track focused driving which might be better. I need to put the middle range map on it but tbh as its just sat on the drive a lot currently I haven't bothered.
Don't think you can spec the performance pack on the wagons but not really sure what it would have offered that I'm missing? Saying that the suspension changes could have made it better equipped to handle the extra power, I'm not sure.
Want to buy Dreamscience IMAP Tuner but not sure if it's compatable with the 2016 U.S version RS😓

What is the standard max boost on a mk4 vs the 99 map

Robinho's Left Foot It arrived the day after I ordered it. Put the map on very quickly, and so far I’m very impressed with how much more pull it has especially in 3rd and 4th gears. It certainly keeps a your attention now, especially in this weather. Overall, as Gary said in the video it feels like OEM plus, which is a good way of putting it. The power curve is linear with no sharp spikes, and it continues until the red line, whereas other maps I have had previously drop off after 6000rpm. Ultimately, the question is “do you regret purchasing it?” to which my answer would be “No, absolutely not”

@@CarFocused I guess the ST is lighter and handling wise must feel very different. I love the tech behind the RS but with the current front wheel drive designs being so good I wonder if you need anything more in a hot hatch?

Those torque figures are very impressive more impressive that the bhp. The car sounds great fun just a shame it looks a bit boring. I’d prefer it in orange though.

I dont think Dream science will ever get the same business back that they had with the 225 as there wont be as many of these on the road! The 225 new price was around 18k. These are 30k-35k.

Very hard to say as it was around 3 years between driving both maps for me!

Mountune isn’t warranty friendly either mate. It used to be on older models.

Is the Fiesta ST more fun?
I’ve had both cars and I prefer the Focus if I’m honest, there is a big price difference though which for the driving experience isn’t a huge difference, the biggest difference is the build quality and interior quality. It’s definitely put together better than the Fiesta. That’s why I changed my year old Mk8 Fiesta ST for the Focus.

A rival well known Ford Engine tuner beginning with M do a 330 package also and they rekon it brings it down to 0-62 in 5.2 seconds.... I reckon it will bring it on par with a Civic type R FK8 performance and the RS mk3........ maybe a touch quicker on a roll in higher gears.
Ryan Cole rs mk3 is sub 5 sec but still it won’t be no slouch
Let's face it unless you are on a track it's all the car you could ever need on UK roads.....people rant on about front wheel drive tourqe steer this and that...it's what makes it a bit exciting or it would be a boring drive! I would have more confidence to push on in the wet in the ST compared to a Rear wheel Drive BMW like the M140i with no diff fishtailing up the road 😅. Fast in a straight line yeah! You see all these drag races with DSG cars like the golf R and RS3 - Launch mode with no skill required off you go!! .. Yeah it's bloody fast in a straight line and would wipe the arse of the ST but hit some twisty roads with a manual gear box you can't beat it and would be pushing them on!....drivers car and more than quick enough for most people's ability unless you are Chris Harris or Tiff Nedell and could reach its oversteering limits !!😅

Car Focused they are going to developing an overrun map. Spoke to them today, they have just finished the Mk3 RS overrun map, then they are starting to do to the Mk8 Fiesta ST overrun map then once that’s done it’ll be the Mk4 Focus’s turn.

nice way to void a warranty , its a shame that the focus st mk4 does not get enough press as its a good car
The only two things I dont like about the new Focus ST are :
- non dark and non-LED tail lights
- no automatic transmission
EmViO the tail lights are LED and there is an automatic option for those that can’t drive.
@@leonmason77 at least in germany there isn't an automatic transmission for the ST, only for the normal Focus. And it has nothing to do with someone can't drive, it's just much more comfortable when you drive this car everyday.
OK, but the turn indicators aren't led, only the front ones.
EmViO the comment about the automatic and not being able to drive was me joking about. I agree they are easier to drive, but despite that you can’t beat a manual when blasting through back roads. I’ve changed the non-LED bulbs for LED.
@@leonmason77 ok then nvm :D I like both, manual and automatic. A fun car can have manual, but as I said, for an everyday car automatic is quite nice. The ST is a very good car!

Fiesta st with nexus stage 2map by laird performance she’s running around 260bhp feels really quick for fiesta...probably would benefit from a diff 🤔 only had it bout 3 weeks looks different with rs front bumper
I’ve owned two of the last gen STs in the United States. If Ford would bring this one over I would own one right now. I want it so bad it hurts to watch these reviews.
I also owned an RS for a short time but it was just too stiff and not as well rounded as the ST for an everyday driver. For me the ST is the one to get.
Over there you have the Hyunday Veloster, quite nice car that we dont get here in the UK

Car Focused minimal . It’s not 50 bhp difference though? Then you could argue much better grip in gear.
Be interesting to see how much the power the mk4 power it can take without forging.
Not from a stop (RS AWD launch wins), rolling start would be close. It takes a lot of extra hp to actually pull on a car at highway speeds. Also, it's hard to put the power down with a FWD beyond 250-300hp.
What RS you talking about? Mk2 definitely, mk3 not a chance in hell

You’ve had the chance to drive both now, I agree completely that the low down front seems underwhelming, but once you hit 3500 and above it pulls like a train through to the redline. I’ve no doubt this car has the potential to upset a lot of other brands out there. I’m really excited to get this remap next week. I’ll let you know how I find it. Let’s hope it’s dry for more than an hour here and there!
The stance of the car is growing on me. When I first got her, I was in partial regret not getting an RS, but although the ST badge doesn’t have the same heritage as the RS, as it stands it’s not far behind. The front end is take it or leave it, but the rear I liked from day one. Seeing it lowered makes it look better from the front. I’m going to put on a TRC splitter too as it did a good off protecting the front bumper on my Mk7 Fiesta ST.

From 0-60, no chance. From 70 onwards the standard mk4 ST is not far off the mk3 RS so I assume this to be quite a bit quicker. Almost the same power, more torque and a lot lighter.
Such a shame Ford is not making a mk4 RS. With all the upgrades the mk4 ST got over its predecessor I would have loved to see what the mk4 RS could have been.
