    Tony that featherblade must be incredibly sharp for you to get weepers you're one of the most careful shavers I've seen. I actually missed you talking during your shave LOL have a good one

      Thanks, Robert! It was pretty sharp and I had the Black Beauty dialed up to the most aggressive setting.

    I'm a mild razor shaver. Too much blade gap and too much blade would leave me bloody too. But I am impressed with how you handled both. Nice clean and close shave. As we say, you can't get any closer than blood 😉

    We all slice pimples for sure but I think setting 9 and a feather blade was a bit more than was needed lol. Anyway I love the videos with vintage razors. Congrats on the black beauty

  • @wross5961
    @wross5961 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    i got the metal bottom one from 1970 but the nickel finish is a bit worn,however,it's shaves great. That 9 setting would be some major beard growth setting like 1 inch hairs.

  • @spikeg.jr.4893
    @spikeg.jr.4893 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    I own a super 84 adjustable, and I feel that setting 9 is possibly more aggressive than the muhle r41. It goes to show that everyone has different skin.

    • @averageguytested
      @averageguytested  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I’ve never used it, but people swear by it. It helps condition your skin to reduce irritation and sensitivity

  • @RobertNES816
    @RobertNES816 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    On my 109 I only go up to 5. Anything higher and it's too much aggressiveness for me. The 109 is definitely more aggressive feeling then the Fatboy and Slim. However the Fatboy and Slim I noticed have a smoother glide across the face. I definitely prefer the older razors in that regard.
    However if you haven't already tried it out the Rockwell T2 from my experience shaves closer but shaves just as smoothly as the Fatboy and Slim.

    • @averageguytested
      @averageguytested  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I will try the T2 - so many razors, so little time. :)

    I heard on the fatboy u are supposed to loosen the bottom knob before you make adjustments . Do you know if you are supposed to do this with the black beauty too? I couldn’t tell when u adjusted it here.

    • @averageguytested
      @averageguytested  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes! You should open the head prior to adjusting on these vintage adjustable razors. There’s also a lock feature after you change the settings. Once you tighten the head you can make an additional turn to lock the blade in place.

    It's very tough to shave with de razor angle is very important and that should be 30 degree angle to be precise that's why I think cartridge razor is better but as I'm planning to buy Parker injector razor I hope that gives me better shave.

    • @averageguytested
      @averageguytested  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Angle is key with the injector razor, but on that Parker you can dial down the aggressiveness for a milder shave.

    Hi. I really need some help. I've been shaving since 2008 and I've been using Mach 3, then switched for mach 3 turbo. Recently I've started to get razor burns and bumps even if I use a brand new razor cartridge when I shave after 24 hours. I'm perfectly fine and get a very nice smooth shave if I shave after 48 hours but if I do it after 24 with only timy bristles on my face, i get screwed. Any idea what should I do? Thank you in anticipation.

    • @averageguytested
      @averageguytested  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You may be dealing with knock off or counterfeit blades. You can try Gillette’s new SKINGUARD razor, which is designed to reduce irritation and ingrown hairs.

    • @muhammadmujeeb2928
      @muhammadmujeeb2928 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@averageguytested even if I did get the fake blades, I don't understand why the same blade would give me burns and nicks if I shave after 24 hours but it will work perfectly and not give me the tiniest of nicks if I shave after 2 days (with a little more hair on my face).

    You got a cut. I tried De safety razor a week ago and cut up my face. Maybe I was applying pressure. Hey Tony I heard the Amazon brand Solimo makes comparable 3 blade and 5 blade cartridges that are great Mach 3 and Fusion Proglide 5 alternatives. Their prices are cheaper than Gillette. Gillette's cartridges are pricey even though they are excellent. 🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦
