- Evgeny Kissin, associated with Deutsche Grammophon for more than a quarter century, has been concentrating in recent years on Beethoven. This 2-CD album is his personal selection of highlights from recitals given between 2006 and 2016 in Vienna, Amsterdam, New York, Seoul and other leading musical centres. It is Kissin’s first substantial solo Beethoven release, an extensive compilation encompassing sonatas and variations from the composer’s early, middle and late periods. “A Beethoven player of rare pedigree and distinction” (Gramophone, 2008). “A rare and miraculous piano legend” (Daily Telegraph, 2016).

It seems this player is playing the composition rather slowly than the usual.
I think the slow pace is perfect after the drama of the 1st movement (Pollini played it too fast in my opinion)
