Im amazed every time how music is ignored again and again in reviews. Graphics are such a big thing but you can watch 10 game reviews by major outlets and not hear the words "music" or "soundtrack" once. So much work is put into standout soundtracks in many games and going by reviews, the games might aswell be silent, as it doesn't seem worth any mention in the grading.
@@MrLaeddis1 Why did both Horizon and Elden Ring offer Deluxe Editions that cost 20$ more for digital artbook and soundtrack just last week then? Seems like there's a market. I don't think we just "expect good music". There's a bunch of genres with widely different music styles and instrumentation and there are definetly games that have less memorable backround soundtracks and some studios that are known for their music. Within just the destiny community you'll see that under the soundtrack videos (that bungie themselves release for each dlc) there's talk about how good this years music is compared to previous annual expansions. I personally go a step further even: There's a bunch of games that I don't buy, but I do buy their soundtracks. Music is one of the biggest factors for me. There's definetly a market, otherwise there wouldn't be websites selling video game soundtracks in all kinds of forms, even in special editions on vinyl. Lastly, while not everybody cares for all aspects of games, a review should adress the big parts, shouldn't it? I might not care that much if a game has a mode with more than 30fps, but many, many people do, and so thats mentioned in reviews constantly, as it should. Music is also a part, that does matter to sizable group of people. I think you made a statement about all people playing games, just based on how you play them.
100% agree. We're paying for an experience. Atmosphere is a large part of it and can be affected greatly by the music. My favorite examples are Nier/Nier:Automata, and the Souls Series. I initially bought them for the combat. Stayed for the story(Nier) / experience. The music really elevated my experience in those games and raised my expectations for others. Sure some people might like to play games in silence, but without a doubt if it came to those games you'd really be missing out. When that boss music kicks in it makes a big difference in how you feel while fighting. Even the background music that just plays while wandering around makes the entire experience all the more memorable.
ive been so skeptical of pre-orders in the last few years but this one really came through. i only got into destiny a couple of months ago and i'm having a blast with the expansion so far. so many things to do and im taking my time with it
The new campaign difficulty is so good. It's precisely hard enough to make you really engage and think strategically, and you actually feel accomplished when you beat a hard encounter. It's a huge breath of fresh air for a game I've been playing for so many years.
Loved playing destiny 2 with my buddies a bunch last year. Quick question - have they made it more clear what to do once you finish the campaign? My friends and I got pretty confused and eventually fell off. Also is there an “icy-veins” type website that validates competent end game builds?
yes, end-game and post-campaign content is laid out quite well in my opinion, but i am a veteran player. not sure what you mean by “icy-veins” but there are loads of third-party website tools to help with builds and such. if you are even somewhat interested in witch queen, go for it. you wont regret it as its the best d2 has ever been
I know what you mean , i usually have to be at work often and never get chance to sit down for a couple hours continuously, only completed DSC so far. Hopefully I'll be able to do VOTD at some point.
The DLC was great but after that it was back to the same old D2. The same repeatable activities for the next three months. I’m already burnt out bc of the wellspring activity.
As a long time Destiny player, this kind of review feels like new for me. I mean its so rare for a game like Destiny. I still dont understand what so great about the campaign, i mean it just a higher difficulties. Stage varieties? Sure beyond light and forsaken have a lot of stage varieties. So yeah.. It just a higher difficulties.
I bet the expansion is great, but I don’t think the campaign is where the players spend the most time. In the end it’s Strikes, Crucible and Gambit again and these playlists have been neglected for years at this point. Can’t sugarcoat that.
Sounds disappointing…I’m a lore guy so the campaign is gonna be where I’ll be first and foremost, but after that you’re correct. The formula for me since D1 has been campaign, Strikes, Crucible then free roam grind. You’re saying they didn’t add any new Strikes or PVP maps from Witch Queen?
Action MMO, RPG, FPS, looter shooter live service semi open world type game. Destiny borrows bits from lots and lots of genres, not just the ones mentioned too arguably.
The problem I have with Destiny is that you buy the DLC for $50, and then 2 months later they release another season that costs another $30, it's just too expensive.
If you get the deluxe, you won't have to pay till the next year. The wq deluxe has even more bonus content than before, the 2 dungeons and osteo striga
I can't help but to agree with this review at times. However I still feel all reviews are in some way shape or form encouraged by the Developers themselves at times. With that said let me explain why, first things first let's look at the Artifact it is supposed to boost or power level; now there's some activities in PvE that even with the Artifact our levels are decreased. Next let's look at our mods why do we even have them why not just make some Bosses slightly more powerful than others. I'm talking about the Overloads, Unstoppables, and Barrier. Sure others have mentioned that they are way to powerful and Bungo made some mod adjustments as well as weakening them but was it enough. Don't get me wrong here I love a challenge as much as the rest of the community. Next let's look at Raids why not separate PC players from console players? We all know PC players have a slight advantage over console so doing a World's first is slightly one sided. Then the changes to one of the most epic Rocket Launchers in the game, why not just leave it where it was adjust it to match D2's model. I have so many others I can touch on but I'll stop here for now.
I mean you don't really need to to enjoy some stuff. It can seem pretty pricey but expecting devs to work for free for a 1 time cost of 60 dollars for 5 years seems a bit unreasonable.
It's ok. 4/10. There's some serious bugs, physics bugs area still apparent especially at move fast moments. Story is the sister of the best expansion of the past, so extremely lazy storytelling. Characters are still very generic and definitely not fun at parties. Outside of it being just another terrible expansion, the combat is still great and fun. Oh and the new map has only one warp section to and it's very small and lackluster, so even lazier than previous expansions.
My god you need the pin of shame🤡. This is such a bad take. We’ve known about Savathûn since taken King, realistically this DLC has been built up since Oryx’s introduction. It ties narrative threads together better than and Destiny DLC prior and does a great job at telling a story. I get it, you’re just a hater and anything I say won’t sway your decision. But for the love of God will you just let people enjoy the game.
For me, its the uggliest dlc (could be more dark and colorful) and a joke, simply because there is no sorcery in the space! Until now, Destiny had explored things that could exist in space and can be explained by physics such as elements, energy fields, dark matter, portals, multiple dimensions but now we have something that is not part of space and does not exist. Thanks to the lack of ideas of their creators, will we see Destiny become a fantasy game? maybe some dragons? or little red riding hood? elfs? gnomes? Blind fans will aplaud, I am sure

The seasons only cost $10 and it’s more like 3-6 months. Too expensive for some, but not nearly as bad as you’re making out.
Expansions vary in cost between $30-40, but Seasons are always $10.
I thought Destiny 2 was F2P? What's "free" about having to buy expansions to keep up to date?
Never had to buy content for Warframe...
I mean no really. You'll get a big expansion once a year, the seasons in between are quite cheap even if you're buying them one at a time
