Witch Queen had a great campaign with some memorable missions and moments. And the Legendary difficulty was amazing! But besides the campaign and the raid, it just did not bring nearly enough to the game to maintain a similar longevity to something like the more content rich Forsaken or Taken King expansions.
I agree we need a season of the core playlists so bad. I understand it wouldnt be as profitable but I think it would bring players back which in turn make them more money in the long run
We Cant even replay story missions. They should give players refunds for taking away paid content with no possible way of adding it back to the without breaking shit.
I don’t feel like I agree with that statement. Let me explain (seriously). I feel like the Witch Queen is the only one of its kind. What I mean is that when the expansion dropped it changed everything. And now the other expansions (Beyond Light, ShadowKeep) feel outdated. There’s no weapon crafting, legendary story mode, and the other destination activities ARE POINTLESS. That’s what I mean, the older things feel like they have no place. The problem isn’t the DLC, by itself it was really good. And there is nothing but praise. The story was great, the raid was great, weapons were great, the activities were and are good still. The problem is that Bungie forgot about everything else making it feel like Witch Queen is the only one that matters. Atleast that’s the issue for me.
I fully expected wandering the marsh to be akin to wandering the Dreadnaught, not architecturally speaking obviously but the Dreadnaught was plagued in mystery and the secrets weren't handed to you or blatantly pointed out like they are in Savathun's throne world
I think it’s more the fact that the dreadnaught came out while the game was still pretty new. By the time we get to witch queen we’re already used to exploring and finding secrets. Back in TTK we didn’t have any thing prior that really had many secrets.
@@Vextral4653 Most secrets in the Throne World are revealed with Deepsight. Most secrets in the Dreadnaught were revealed with interactions. The Skyburner’s chest, the runes, chests like the worm scent one, etc.
@@Vextral4653 I think to some extent you are right but to some other extent the dreadnought encouraged you to rummage around and explore. Every area and side area had multiple random things that could happen and there was loot tucked in all the hidden areas. On the other hand you are right that it is hard to recreate something like that perfectly with how quickly news spreads in the community now. I'm not trying to be one of those ppl that just says bungie bad but patrol zones at this point feel like extended load ins to missions.
@@-_Oro_-bro we literally had the ghost thing for parasite and the butterfly crystals just like we had calicified bruh what more do you think was on the drednough, you even get in game lore in WQ

@@wifine1951 cuz the tech at the time were pushing the consoles to their limits. The next generation X/S and PS5 were the solution, Sunsetting got canceled and they're slowly bringing back the things they took out in a revamped way. The proof: literally every area of Mars from both D1 and D2 are back but they can't be roamed on freely just yet. Bungie's trying to go in the right direction, more resources were given to them by Sony to make that easier but that won't fully show until mid 2024
There's a patrol quest in the Cosmodrome that says Cayde-6 is the new Hunter Vanguard 😂 It's over by the area where the Warsat public event spawns if you want to check it out
Wow, that is a perfect way of describing it. The story was really fucking good, but that’s mainly it. The replayability fell off after it and now the seasons feel half-asses and mediocre.
@@thetoolie5917 I’d say they were all mid. Risen literally had 3 weeks of story content and haunted was not new at all. Plunder has very short story content and the activities are very repetitive.
Bungie announcing there will be only one new pvp map in LF has confirmed my fear that they are going to neglect the core game as a whole. They are going to keep piling on “new” content into a system that doesn’t allow for innovation and is designed to eventually be removed. Sure there will be tweaks to core playlists and sandbox but no system wide changes to give the game the facelift it needs. I’m completely expecting the LF year to be exactly the same as WQ w/ seasons probably dipping even lower in quality. None of this would be as bad if Bungie would admit the state the game is in. However they seem to think this is the best direction for the game and that everything is fine. BUNGiE
I think bungie is suffering from silicon valley syndrome. Overpayed employees not really doing any work and management who wont force them to work. Remote work has clearly declined the quality of the game and there's no care for it. Its been awful since shadowkeep forsaken was the only time the game was good.
Thank you gif. The year of Lightfall will guaranteed be more of the same, no true innovation. And what's worse, just take a look back at Beyond Light's year of content and how it took them 9 months to properly balance Stasis in both PvE and PvP - it will most likely apply to Strand as well. And then there's the miserable state of Destiny's "endgame" content: so-called Grandmaster and Master difficulties offering nothing but a 2-shot fiesta for all involved. No advanced mechanics; even the raids are becoming stale in terms of gameplay - the biggest difficulty is communicating properly, as opposed to accomplishing the encounter in the most efficient manner possible. The sad thing is, majority of the playerbase actually believes playing a Gears of War simulator (hiding behind cover and peek-shooting) is the pinnacle of difficulty in this game. Newsflash: Getting 2-shot by every enemy in the encounter is not a great challenge to be overcome, it's just plain annoying. Not to mention how the 3.0 Subclass reworks have mostly fallen flat on their face - with only a few fantastic exceptions to each class. Kinetic primaries have been essentially deleted from the game, since Subclass Element synergy is really the only way to setup your gear. No subclass/element identity; any of them can do add-clear equally well, with some downright horrendous Super choices left. Void has purple-explosions, Solar has yellow-explosions, and you guessed it: Arc has blue-explosions. Instead of Warlocks being ability-spammers with a larger arsenal of spells, Titans that control & fortify the battlefield, and Hunters that subvert & weaken enemies, we get no real difference in what a Nightstalker vs Voidwalker can do. PvP maps are on life-support, we are expected to play 80% of the same maps for the 4th year in a row now. No real gameplay innovations with Lightfall have me in 0% hype mode. I'm not even pre-ordering the base edition...
Bungie don't wanna make Destiny 3 because that would require them to actually make new stuff...with D2 they can keep reskinning the same weapon models and reusing the same D1 exotics.
Now that I think about it, its weird how Curse of Osiris, Worthy, Drifter, and Plunder were all victims of the middle-of-year-content-curse, but Splicer wasn't
Naw, Splicer was absolutely a victim of the curse. Story was decent I suppose (wasn’t really engaging though), but without VoG having rereleased during that season, Splicer would’ve been another Worthy.
Splicer was as well. It was just overhyped because of its aesthetic. It is pretty much the exact same as this season. Vog hard carried it. Ketchcrash is better than override. Expunge is better than Expeditions. Splicer had a better story. Plunder had a better raid brought back. Splicer brought better GM weapons. Plunder brought arc 3.0, etc
Can I say this as someone with both Gumshoe, Harbinger and Splintered? Savathun’s Throne world has nowhere near as much depths as The Moon or Europa, hell Plaguelands, The Leviathan and Hellas Basin had more depth as patrol zones. I’ll compare it to Europa since it was the destination before it Savthun’s throne world had - Moth collectibles, Deepsight portals, parasite portals, Fynch reputation system, a exclusive public event, and some other minor things Europa had - Penguin collectibles, Dead exo collectibles, eclipse zones, weather system, a trophy room, salvation grip collectibles, weekly augments, exclusive public event, Variks upgrades, the mini friendly harpy easter egg, and some other things I left out activities like Exo challenges, Empire Hunts, strikes, and Wellspring since in my opinion they are not part of the open world. Activities like Altars and Containment are open world.
That’s very true. I guess on the surface it feels like the throne world has a bit more, but when you dig a little deeper it’s pretty shallow. It definitely didn’t hold my attention to want to explore it much after release.
Funny how you point all this out bc I really couldnt figure out why I didnt like the Throne World as much. I just felt tired of it once the campaign was over. I felt more joy visiting older destinations than ever going back to the Throne World lol.
I still think that Witch Queen is a top 3 expansion. While not as great as Forsaken and Taken King, this DLC still has a lot of great moments. I think that the year as a whole definitely isn’t the best, and that I feel has tainted the image of the Witch Queen itself, which is a shame. I will say that the campaign, strikes, Void 3.0 and raid were definitely the highlights. Another great video as always November!
The way content has been divided with little addition to the menu hurt WQ more than anything. It’s at least the first campaign that actually felt like a campaign
I used to pre order every season but lightfall will be the first time I don’t since these past few seasons have been snooze fests. Hopefully they make the dungeon key a separate thing from the deluxe
Problem with current Destiny is that it only adds and never develops content. Best exemplified with Witch Queen. I still go back into D1 and play content there, because its fun, in D2, it's old and repetitive.
You got it bang on. As someone who's been playing since the D1 beta, the game is becoming stale and I never knew why. The lack of anything new is really hurting this game.
the best thing to doif you want change in d2 is to stop playing for a few seasons and stop paying for expansions and cosmetics. once Bungie has seen that their selling rates have dropped as well as their playercount, they'll start improving the game. otherwise we'll all be in the hampster wheel forever just paying and playing enough for bungie to not worry about enticing new players
boohoo because ppl keep leaking stuff did you forget 2020 where all of WQ was leaked and now theres this year too with all the sznz 💀💀💀💀💀💀i wouldnt want to waste time on a bunch of bs either 💀💀💀
I loved witch queen’s campaign, easily my favorite from the entire franchise (possibly my favorite pve content in general). But you’re so right that this did not expand the game. I wish bungie would actually evolve their existing locations and content instead of leaving them to fade into irrelevance. Seasons as well should evolve existing modes and locations instead of simply introducing temporary content. The battlegrounds “mini strikes” are a great additional piece of content in my opinion.
It still blows my mind that they never revamp old strikes like they did in D1. It's such low hanging fruit that everyone would love and it would add so much replayability.
Expansions like shadowkeep, beyond light and witch queen show that bungie needs to slow down with their content drops Bungie is proving time and time again that they do not have the resources, manpower and time to create a new expansion, 4 seasons 2 dungeons, all the content that comes with it ontop of adding onto the already developed content such as strikes and previous locations. I'm more than happy with expansions being bi-annual or even tri annual releases with longer seasons if it means the content we actually are getting is much more substantial and equally balanced across the game No other massively online game drops content as fast as d2 does and i think bungie needs to see that and start slowing down at the very least after final shape if they want to continue working on destiny
Genuinely, I played for two weeks, only one of which was fun, the campaign was amazing, I got ostio striga and played with my necrotic grip build, and then the burnout took over and I no longer had any desire to play.
Problem with Destiny is the same as most other AAA games. They're not made to be fun. They're made to make profit, as they are putting the cart before the horse.
I feel another problem with witch queen was that it has a season attached to it rather than having the expansion be it’s own thing like forsaken was. Forsaken had enough content and longevity to keep players entertained until season of the forge began 3 months afterwards. Witch queen, like shadowkeep and beyond light before it, had half of its life cycle put into a season that would get sunsetted eventually which leaves an empty feel to the associated expansions afterwards. It didn’t help that season of the risen’s story took place before we defeat savathun in the campaign instead of having it build a narrative post campaign, which made playing through Risens story feel disjointed
As great as these points are made by many in the community, they're all for not. The reason shit never changes is because the player base never changes. They haven't said enough is enough and STOPPED BUYING CONTENT. THAT is what gets companies attention. Stop paying their bills and watch how quickly all the shit they said they couldn't do before, magically becomes reality.
I have battered wife syndrome with this game I just need to get to final shape and then I can hopefully end this cycle of abuse for good. Unless they really start to focus on the core activities. I'm just so burned out running gms on the same strikes every season. I love gambit but they don't add anything to it and pvp well... it is quite neglected it feels
I’ll stick around up to the Final Shape. I left after Forsaken and came back this year for Witch Queen which was refreshing. I’ll play through the “last” two expansions sparingly and then be done with Destiny.
@@invvsanity105 well the "story" isn't really exciting lately anyway so you could disconnect completely. Lets recap for lightfall so far. Every weapon (That i know of and is legendary) Is either a reprisal or Reskin. Neomuna: Moon weapons (We only just now got the HC from the Cover) RON:SSer side DoE trace, Suros shotty, Generic auto, hakke GL, Hunt LFR SOD: Lost weapons and the GOA Sword SOTD: Just Reckoning weapons' but taken. The originals also came back so why bother reskinning them? GOTD: Generic weapons, sight on the RL is new, But the only *new* weapon model is the glaive, being a harpoon. We'll have to see about the solstice weapons, but ask me? They should have just extended the WQ seasons into this year and Just combined Lightfall back into final shape.
It's ironic that Destiny 2 was closer to a "single, evolving world" before they explicitly went in that direction, if you think about how Prison Escapees replaced the roaming High-Value-Targets, Minibosses in Strikes & Bosses in Lost Sectors, as well as adding Nightmares in the latter. What's weirder is that the Devil's Lair Strike, supposedly "locked in time" for nostalgia's sake, uses Eliksni wearing House of Dusk colors, while pretending they're Devils. Destiny 2 now has multiple, isolated worlds. In the post-Lightfall reveal interview they mentioned that the current Strikes will get some sort of updates. Very curious what those are going to be. I want whatever they did with Shattered Realm in Lost as the baseline for an overhaul on how patrol zones work, because as small as that activity was, it at least evolved the "exploration" aspect of Destiny.
I wish the throne world felt more like an untouched swamp, with fewer enemies. Instead we get this swamp that is filled to the brim with enemies, broken structures and buildings
I think the reason they haven’t updated old strikes and such to include newer things like Hive Guardians is because I’m guessing Bungie views strikes the same way they view D1 raids: a moment in time that is revisited. I’m not necessarily against updating old strikes with newer stuff, but I feel like if we suddenly began seeing Hive Guardians in The Disgraced, or even the Scarlet Keep for that matter, it would just end up being confusing and not making any real sense in general, especially for newer players.
That's pretty much the reasoning for it, it's also why the strike targeting the Fanatic was such an oddity in that it was the one exception to that rule as it canonically is a strike that is launched over and over again because he just keeps coming back. Well up until he got chased off the Tangled Shore and disappeared, he'll turn up again eventually though and my bet is that he'll be Crow's Vanguard Dare, giving Fikrul his final death.
I actually prefer the straightforward stories offered in ttk or even the red war over the newer seasonal stories.. These are over the top and often miss to deliver a solution to the new" thing of the week"
Fax these reasons are the reason why I stopped playing and skipped the expansion I’m being forced to play the same thing over and over again and no changes are added for the core activities
I feel most dlc is distraction now only 1 subclass as far as darkness goes, the sell of witch queen seems like 3.0 was the only reason I was curious and now I'm disappointed 3.0 didn't live up to my expectations
Destiny is now a theme park. There's a new ride ever so often but only that section of the park gets updated. MAYBE there's decorations throughout the entrance and a few main areas to get to that section of the park, but the rest of the place stays the same and deteriorat over time till it's time to flat out remove those areas. There's always that one ride in the back that shows is wear. Looking at you Gambit
We honestly need more people that speak out the truth and criticise where critic is due. I might be really delusional still thinking bungo would turn things around but I feel like our time and money is better spend elsewhere.
I loved Witch Queen, it surpassed its' predecessors in some ways. Mentioning that the Throne World felt lifeless felt so accurate. I go back to the dreaming city a lot. Either for Shuro Chi's lore patrols or to do fun gimmicks like ascendant challenges an blind well. The dreaming city was a built for the post-campaign, where I feel the throne world suffers from. The "reveal" deep sight pockets should've been more intwined like the tincture of queens foil in the dreaming city. The T.W. needs more verticality and platforming that give depth into how big the T.W. actually is - something the D.C. does well with ascendant platforms. The main focus also seemed to be in Miasma, which isn't my favourite and I like the atmosphere, but really there isn't a lot of interest in that area for me.
I won’t lie, I’m kinda glad that Destiny2 is crumbling. The lack of support for anything just shows that Bungie doesn’t care. Maybe I’m just mad that Bungie doesn’t learn or refuses to learn, they have money but it feels like they are acting poor.
I think we could all agree that Bungie has become one of the mediocre, greedy and corporate based company as the rest are. There should be no excuse what so ever In the ridiculous excuse as growing pains. Have we forgot that Bungie is held as the best developer for the Halo series ever had. So we know what they are capable of. Growing pains?! BS, we have been in growing pains for almost a decade! Not just that, it shows how money centered and uninspiring it has become as for almost all games now days. The only thing they don’t have growing pains is for our wallets. Because they know no matter what we are still going to buy what ever they put out, sadly. We as a community are pissed and rightfully so
I think I am at the point I would gladly just sacrifice a season just to freshen up the stale things. For Strikes, they don't even have to be new at least some variants would be great, plus cycle some of the long in the tooth ones like Exodus Crash. Add more Battlegrounds, I actually enjoy those. Also cycle in some Gambit/Crucible maps, and put a labs node back onto the Gambit playlist. The labs node should be there there with several alterations so we can figure out what we prefer.
other than the Forsaken episode this was my most anticipated one and I wasn't disappointed. the Witch queen is one of my favorite Destiny expansions by far for the campaign, raid, and loot in general. although it was a good expansion (in my eyes) there were still some poor stuff that came with it, as you mentioned. the lack of core content updates is getting kinda annoying but hopefully Lightfall can fix this points with LFG and other new updates. once again I must say that this is my favorite D2 related series on TH-cam, so keep up the great content! P.S are you going to wait to release the next episode about the WQ seasons until season 19 comes out? or are you going to do a separate episode on season 19?
@@NovemberHotel i figured as that made the most sense, instead of splitting them up. No thank you for making this series! I’ve shared it with some people I know and they have started watching it!
It would have been nice for the cabals on Nessos to evolve, and become our allies and blue selves to signal their allegiances to Caiatl, or have a small mission in the cabal base on Earth that would explain to us what it has become etc...
You hit it. Interested to see your wrap up of this years seasons once lightfall come out. Personally, I do not think they will change much in the area's of complaint. If they do it will be only slightly, enough to say something was done but they'll miss the mark as usual. I believe it is because as long as the distractions and seasons are selling alongside the cash shop they do not care to make the changes. If enough people grow tired of it and bounce it will take them too long to catch up because they are very slow with changes despite being a multi-billion dollar company. That leaves them out of excuses in my book.
November speaking facts, this expansions story was badass and honestly had a few extremely nerve wracking moments, but it had more issues then it fixed. Like weapon crafting being way to grindy, the raid was extremely laggy and crashes constantly, a mediocre new location and 0 love for PVP
Every video game is a distraction, and if it isn't then it's probably a chore of a game which defeats the purpose of video games to have fun and be distracted from the real world. 💀
This isn't a fair comparison yet because since the season model was introduced the last season has always had really good stuff in it which is in part why people always feel the latest expansion isn't that good once they get through the campaign. And going by some of the leaks I've seen this one is the same, so the year long story telling isn't complete yet. As for the expansion itself I think the only D2 campaign that came close was Forsaken but that was also stretched out more than people remember. I do admit I wish there was more secret stuff like form around that time but eh... Gameplay and the introduction of 3.0 light subclasses has radically changed the game and breathed new life into the combat for me, sure people are running what seems to be the "best in slot" according to what popular youtubers put out but the build crafting has gone through the roof this year.
Please stop preordering content and spending money in eververse until bungie starts making substantial content and stops recycling loot, enemies, and mechanics. It’s sickening how often terms like “returning” “coming back” “going back” “reskinning” etc are used to describe “new” content.
@@NightHawk-ix9fv I pre-ordered witch queen and when I saw it was all recycled hive and they weren't doing much to the rest of the game I canceled the pre-order. I did run through the campaign though when they made it free.
They removed too much content for me as a returning player. Was very fun the first few hundred hours but then the lack of content sets in and the seasons this year are pretty bad and dry as well.
This is the same problem that i have had and told my friends about. Planets not being touched upon after they have been added to the game is annoying. It makes the planet completely pointless after the story mission. Imagine of the Alters of sorrow got updated, new bosses, Lucent hives, new weapons and maybe an armor set. What about if Europa got some sort of Brig invasion esc event, that was in hard mode when the snow storm was active. The snow storm was such a throw away idea. The idea was good but the exacution was terrible. Oh no i can't fully control my Sparrow. I really disliked how they removed the Vex invasion event on the moon as soon as season of the Undying ended. A really cool and fun event. It could have been a great way to get those Vex offensive weapons still. Story wise this might not make sense, but what if they added that invasion on Nesus ? it is the Vex planet and would fit in there quite well. Strikes and Gambit not recieving any more maps is also stupid. Yes Strikes did get 5 more from the dlc's alone, but why not anymore after that ? Sure, season of the choosen did a couple, but that was one season. Europa has not been given one after that season and the Moon has not gotten a new one at all.
Ya know what's amazing? Destiny is considered probably at the top of the "looter" genre, but more and more, I'm seeing people get tired of the "loot" aspect, and they just want to play the campaign and narrative and story. Loot farming can be fun, but the real meat of the game is in the narrative elements, that give players more reason to see what happens next, an emotional motivation, a personal motivation, something beyond just "gotta collect em all." "Loot" is just numbers and comparisons and spreadsheets, and when new "loot" is released, just more numbers and comparisons and spreadsheets. A person can literally pick up any Halo game, play through, and get a hearty action shooter with a compelling story (most of the time), without any grinding for Gear Score. I would love to see more looters deemphasize "loot" as the main selling point, like Destiny has done in the past, and instead, shift toward emphasizing the real gravity of the story and characters. Unfortunately, due to vaulting and seasonal storylines, much of that is gone and what remains is so broken and incomplete, it's nearly impossible to "come back" to Destiny's story. It's just vapor.
At this point I think it’s fine we don’t always stick hive gods & other powerful beings in the raid, i mean I love raiding, but but even in raids when dps can simply turn into standing together in a well & shooting the boss
i totally agree re: expanding the game world. I would guess part of why they don't do that is the free to play model, they're worried people will shift from buying every expansion to just buying the most recent one cos everything from the old ones is available updated now
I think Bungie’s just beyond checked out with this game at this point and more or less trying to make due with a situation that wasn’t the most ideal or even necessarily in the original plan from the get go. Even with some of the phoned in story telling and plot conveniences, it basically just feels like Bungie’s shepherding things along to the finish line so they can effectively move on. Bungie’s often relied on the more experienced portion of their player base to further sell the hype and prospect of something new, but with just how much stagnation there’s been in the game with not a massive amount of innovation in equal parts, it just leads to a lot of people approaching the game with extreme ambivalence.
12:37 Blight ranger was good for a little while because of a bug. Once they patched it became the worst exotic armor piece in the entire game with literally zero utility in any imaginable situation. Its such a stupid concept that the only way they can actually make it useful is to completely rework it or literally un patch the bug. In fact because it uses an exotic slot up while doing nothing at all arguably makes it the single worst piece of armor in destiny 2, including blues.
Couldn’t agree more. It was so fantastic, but it didn’t really add that much permanent content outside of the campaign. So outside of running Legendary, there’s almost nothing left over after the credits roll.
This exactly sums up how I feel about the game. It feels like there is just not enough to do except for grinding over and over again. I wish there was more overland stuff to do.
I hate that they vaulted paid content without giving players refunds. They can't even let people replay story mission so new players can actually care about the characters they want us to give a shit about.
@@mariobadia4553 I agree with this and I hate that people say "well it was out for years you could have played it during that time". Its inconsiderate to people who may have started playing destiny late into the game and didn't have a chance to enjoy certain areas. The best they could do was bring lost sectors back for story missions lmao
Which Queen campaign, raid and dugeon duality (for the hardcore lightblade) is honestly what carried this expansion, along with the subclass changes, everything else content wise and seasonal wise was so so bad. And I have a feeling that the same pattern will occur in lightfall. What pisses me of is the fact that you have to not only pay for a dungeon, but once new dungeon comes along u can no longer farm the old dugeon unless its on a given week. That is a form of vaulting which many players would never like to admit.
I’m kind of hoping the the reworks to the subclasses taking so much time and effort was a big reason that a lot of the seasonal content seemed lacking for WQ. Hoping with LF they have a better content plan after the campaign. Season 19 needs to be good after the lackluster season we’re currently in. Sunsetting really hurt this game and I think if they brought stuff back without making the community pay for it, that would really help the game. I feel like they know what they need to do, especially after all the negative talk from the community this year. I hope they are working on it.
@@thetoolie5917 forsaken alone makes you pay for beloved destiny 1 exotics, hawkmoons mission is exploring old locales for an old exotic, shadowkeeps main content is old with a face lift that you (again) have to pay for.
See that's what really gets me about this expansion. You put it really well - how hard would it genuinely be to get some revamped strikes with lightbearing hive and like one exclusive weapon or armor piece to said strike? Like take Scarlet Keep. Literally just shove in the new aesthetic rework that we can already see in PsiOps for it, along with some lightbearing hive or a reworked Haschladun as a lightbearer, a new helmet or cloak/mark/bond, maybe a new hand cannon... wow, maybe like a week's worth of work since they already have all the assets, if that.
bungie could save D2 by simply just adding a party playlist that keeps track of leaderboards. like just imagine sparrow racing being in the game full time. and there being a leaderboard for each week that keeps track of who has the most racing wins
Agree with all points made here, like seriously each “expansion” feels more like a DLC than anything. It feels big and grand because it’s “new” but in the long run everything grows stale. I honestly haven’t even touched gambit for the past 3 seasons, Vanguard strikes has become a chore for greater loot and the dialogue becomes mundane, Crucible even if stale is my only activity in D2 these days. It would feel so much more amazing if we can run an “updated” version of other Strikes as mentioned. Imagine completing the three OG D1 Fallen/Hive Strikes, but the bosses are now beefier to a degree. I would love to see a “Legacy” and “Revised” modes or rotation of Strikes where OG loot from that Strike in D1 is implemented in “Legacy” and “Revised” brings in new themed Strike weapons/armour. Take the Armistice Strike. “Legacy” would have let’s say the DFA and the Sniper from Season of Dawn as weapon drops. “Revised” would have a higher drop chance of Legacy weapons, but also include a new weapon or armour based on the story - ESPECIALLY after LightFall where it’s Calus’ Cabal instead of Red Leigon and we get Cabal Calus themed weapons/armour. He’ll return the old Leviathan weapons and armour if you’re feeling lazy idk.
I wish bungie would listen to these videos.all of these things you say are so very much needed. There was that leak (take it with a hint of salt obviously) that bungie had a PowerPoint saying they couldn't overdeliver. Well bungie, I hate to say it, but this stuff isn't overdelivering, it's the bare minimum. Over time we have been getting less for our money but paying more. They keep making improvements but they come at the cost of sacrificing something else, resulting in no significant overall change. I love this game, the story, the gameplay. Out of this love I plead for them to fix it.
That PowerPoint is real. It’s from a GDC presentation done by Justin Truman. I have a recent video addressing a few of the points but you can just Google it and read it yourself if you like. The things said in the PowerPoint are very concerning
All the strikes with Cayde-6 need to be either removed or revamped. It’s so jarring hearing him casually mouthing off on the comms knowing he’s six feet under
i really hope the lack of strike, gambit and pvp content was because they were already too bussy with the revamps of the systems, making them rep based instead of token based, "improving" their matchmaking and the solo player experience with freelance modes and in the case of gambit revamping the mode to be "better" than its original form, i just hope that was the main reason why we didn't saw much real new content and not because bungie its actually forgeting about their core gameplay
Witch queen felt like a bigger dlc but smaller than an expansion, ever since forsaken, they’ve become extremely lazy and even hinder their devs from creating extra content, there needs to be a mass exodus of players so Bungie can pick their slack up and make good content again.
I always laugh when bungie calls the game an mmo when raids are stuck with 6 players lmaooo, if they really wanted to tickle my pickly, make the lightfall raid 9 man or 12 man.
One thing I've noticed about the D2 community is that what they consider a good campaign is the ones with cinematics, idk why its probably because most of us was raised on CoD and Halo so we expected that type of level of campaign quality
@lilbu223 "in any other game"....that makes no sense but okay yes it was a good campaign I'm just saying what makes it good is the cinematic as they explained moments in the story in a satisfying visual way
Witch Queen had a great campaign with some memorable missions and moments.
@@mariobadia4553 which story missions? Witch Queen? You can absolutely replay them on demand.
@@coldblizzard5880 the extra mile would’ve been if Bungie implemented the same replayable mission setup for the other expansions, eh?
I fully expected wandering the marsh to be akin to wandering the Dreadnaught, not architecturally speaking obviously but the Dreadnaught was plagued in mystery and the secrets weren't handed to you or blatantly pointed out like they are in Savathun's throne world
I rember trying to explore the throne world like that and feeling disappointed that the biggest hidden thing was a qualichor chest.

The story wasn't that great. That's still your mind trying to convince you destiny is good.
@@vjortega43 bang on bro, PvP specific community managers that don’t play pvp and the same “we’re making a game that we developers want to play”
I mean ppl keep pre ordering deluxe edition, 2022 was the most profitable year for them, nothing will change.
Didnt they say there was gonna be 1 pvp map at the start of lightfall then a new one each season after that?
Bungie don't wanna make Destiny 3 because that would require them to actually make new stuff...with D2 they can keep reskinning the same weapon models and reusing the same D1 exotics.
Now that I think about it, its weird how Curse of Osiris, Worthy, Drifter, and Plunder were all victims of the middle-of-year-content-curse, but Splicer wasn't
Naw, Splicer was absolutely a victim of the curse. Story was decent I suppose (wasn’t really engaging though), but without VoG having rereleased during that season, Splicer would’ve been another Worthy.
@@jamfilledjars I think one of Splicer's saving graces was how good the aesthetics of the season were.
@@trickytreyperfected1482 Splicer was one of my top seasons next to Arrivals, and Chosen
Splicer was a brilliant season probably my favourite bar arrivals
I’ll compare it to Europa since it was the destination before it
Savthun’s throne world had
- Moth collectibles, Deepsight portals, parasite portals, Fynch reputation system, a exclusive public event, and some other minor things
Europa had
- Penguin collectibles, Dead exo collectibles, eclipse zones, weather system, a trophy room, salvation grip collectibles, weekly augments, exclusive public event, Variks upgrades, the mini friendly harpy easter egg, and some other things
I left out activities like Exo challenges, Empire Hunts, strikes, and Wellspring since in my opinion they are not part of the open world. Activities like Altars and Containment are open world.
That’s very true. I guess on the surface it feels like the throne world has a bit more, but when you dig a little deeper it’s pretty shallow. It definitely didn’t hold my attention to want to explore it much after release.
salvations stuff dont count as collectables, savathuns world literally has room to display your butterflies 💀💀💀 and finch upgrades exist
It's crazy how much more the europa open world had than the throne world despite the differences
Funny how you point all this out bc I really couldnt figure out why I didnt like the Throne World as much. I just felt tired of it once the campaign was over. I felt more joy visiting older destinations than ever going back to the Throne World lol.
@@thetoolie5917 did you literally never go in the little tent by the exo stranger or the penguin room next to variks?

I still think that Witch Queen is a top 3 expansion. While not as great as Forsaken and Taken King, this DLC still has a lot of great moments. I think that the year as a whole definitely isn’t the best, and that I feel has tainted the image of the Witch Queen itself, which is a shame. I will say that the campaign, strikes, Void 3.0 and raid were definitely the highlights. Another great video as always November!
Thanks man!
3 months later and it’s only gotten worse. The DLC is now 50 dollars with seemingly the least amount of content yet. It’s just upsetting
The way content has been divided with little addition to the menu hurt WQ more than anything.
It’s at least the first campaign that actually felt like a campaign
If there’s one thing that soured WQ for me it was definitely the dungeon key system since I don’t buy the deluxe edition every time
I used to pre order every season but lightfall will be the first time I don’t since these past few seasons have been snooze fests.
“We wanna push the limits of an Action MMO with missions like Expunge and Presage”
Now their not going to make secret missions anymore…
I wouldn't call Expunge and Presage secret missions, so they can easily still come. But yeah, we need secret missions.

"Like expunge and presage" lol haven't seen missions like those at all this year
I loved witch queen’s campaign, easily my favorite from the entire franchise (possibly my favorite pve content in general).
Expansions like shadowkeep, beyond light and witch queen show that bungie needs to slow down with their content drops
Bungie is proving time and time again that they do not have the resources, manpower and time to create a new expansion, 4 seasons 2 dungeons, all the content that comes with it ontop of adding onto the already developed content such as strikes and previous locations.
I'm more than happy with expansions being bi-annual or even tri annual releases with longer seasons if it means the content we actually are getting is much more substantial and equally balanced across the game
No other massively online game drops content as fast as d2 does and i think bungie needs to see that and start slowing down at the very least after final shape if they want to continue working on destiny
Same, also i spend way to much at this point already so I wanna see it trough. We've seen what destiny CAN be, when it works it's fucking great
I felt this way but I think I’m genuinely done. I want to follow along with the story but I just won’t play anymore.
I’ll stick around up to the Final Shape. I left after Forsaken and came back this year for Witch Queen which was refreshing. I’ll play through the “last” two expansions sparingly and then be done with Destiny.

Lets recap for lightfall so far.
Every weapon (That i know of and is legendary) Is either a reprisal or Reskin.
Neomuna: Moon weapons (We only just now got the HC from the Cover)
RON:SSer side DoE trace, Suros shotty, Generic auto, hakke GL, Hunt LFR
SOD: Lost weapons and the GOA Sword
SOTD: Just Reckoning weapons' but taken.
Probably due in part to lacking the man power to constantly update anything.
They did it in destiny 1, they added taken versions and siva versions to old strikes
Imagine if Bungie put the same amount into crucible, strikes, and gambit, as they do with eververse.
I actually prefer the straightforward stories offered in ttk or even the red war over the newer seasonal stories.. These are over the top and often miss to deliver a solution to the new" thing of the week"
For a billion dollar company the creativity is getting piss poor
Fax these reasons are the reason why I stopped playing and skipped the expansion I’m being forced to play the same thing over and over again and no changes are added for the core activities
I feel most dlc is distraction now only 1 subclass as far as darkness goes, the sell of witch queen seems like 3.0 was the only reason I was curious and now I'm disappointed 3.0 didn't live up to my expectations
I always forget how huge the taken king was. Updated everything, multple quest lines, great raid, great strikes, new powers etc.
I don’t see how people dedicate themselves to a hamster wheel….I understand ppl have mental disorders though.
I won’t lie, I’m kinda glad that Destiny2 is crumbling. The lack of support for anything just shows that Bungie doesn’t care. Maybe I’m just mad that Bungie doesn’t learn or refuses to learn, they have money but it feels like they are acting poor.
We never got to walk that swamp😡
You pretty much touch about everything I’ve been complaining about.

What could have been...witch queens year just felt bleh
My opinion is, perhaps in the future, Bungie will sell Raids separately from the DLCs.
The thing about Savathun is that I think they plant on using her as Khali or mistraek, an allly so she can’t be the raid boss
I was hoping for more sprawling, spooky, foggy swamp lands like we saw in the trailer. We didn't get that at all. 😭
Ya know what's amazing? Destiny is considered probably at the top of the "looter" genre, but more and more, I'm seeing people get tired of the "loot" aspect, and they just want to play the campaign and narrative and story. Loot farming can be fun, but the real meat of the game is in the narrative elements, that give players more reason to see what happens next, an emotional motivation, a personal motivation, something beyond just "gotta collect em all."
"Loot" is just numbers and comparisons and spreadsheets, and when new "loot" is released, just more numbers and comparisons and spreadsheets.
Awesome video as always, and really addresses a lot of the grievances I have with Witch Queen as well. Cheers mate!
The wallet speaks louder than any roar ever could.
What do you think about Origin Perks being added to weapons with WQ?
You know what this video seems to be telling me?? That Activision Blizzard was the reason for past success.
Vicarious Visions* but basically
At this point I think it’s fine we don’t always stick hive gods & other powerful beings in the raid, i mean I love raiding, but but even in raids when dps can simply turn into standing together in a well & shooting the boss
Bro did I see November playing crucible with Datto on his team!? Yo that's sick my guy
i totally agree re: expanding the game world.
Incredibly good video analysis, I wish the light bearing hive were also in kingsfall
This exactly sums up how I feel about the game. It feels like there is just not enough to do except for grinding over and over again. I wish there was more overland stuff to do.
I hate that they vaulted tangled shore, like there Is 0 reason to vault it
I hate that they vaulted paid content without giving players refunds.
Was disappointing and boring after the campaign lmao
Which Queen campaign, raid and dugeon duality (for the hardcore lightblade) is honestly what carried this expansion, along with the subclass changes, everything else content wise and seasonal wise was so so bad. And I have a feeling that the same pattern will occur in lightfall. What pisses me of is the fact that you have to not only pay for a dungeon, but once new dungeon comes along u can no longer farm the old dugeon unless its on a given week. That is a form of vaulting which many players would never like to admit.
No new pvp maps? Where did the throne World map came from then?
That didn’t come with witch queen. It came the next season. Season of the haunted.
@@NovemberHotel Oh didn't knew about that. Probably It was meant to launch with WQ but was delayed, no?
bruh why can't bungie just deliver a game that the community wants
didnt they add 2 crucible maps?
Not until Season of haunted and Plunder. At launch there’s 0. And both maps are remakes from d1
Bungie: we're not happy with just another mission!
Destiny player base: Please stop pissing on us and calling it a warm rain.....🙁
I’m kind of hoping the the reworks to the subclasses taking so much time and effort was a big reason that a lot of the seasonal content seemed lacking for WQ. Hoping with LF they have a better content plan after the campaign. Season 19 needs to be good after the lackluster season we’re currently in. Sunsetting really hurt this game and I think if they brought stuff back without making the community pay for it, that would really help the game. I feel like they know what they need to do, especially after all the negative talk from the community this year. I hope they are working on it.
when have they charged you for that💀💀💀💀💀💀
@@thetoolie5917 forsaken alone makes you pay for beloved destiny 1 exotics, hawkmoons mission is exploring old locales for an old exotic, shadowkeeps main content is old with a face lift that you (again) have to pay for.
That graphic with shadowkeep to witch queen is straight up sad. Excellent video
See that's what really gets me about this expansion. You put it really well - how hard would it genuinely be to get some revamped strikes with lightbearing hive and like one exclusive weapon or armor piece to said strike? Like take Scarlet Keep. Literally just shove in the new aesthetic rework that we can already see in PsiOps for it, along with some lightbearing hive or a reworked Haschladun as a lightbearer, a new helmet or cloak/mark/bond, maybe a new hand cannon... wow, maybe like a week's worth of work since they already have all the assets, if that.
but it wouldn't make lore sense tho, cos the hive in the scarlet keep are on xivu's side and not savathuun's.
bungie could save D2 by simply just adding a party playlist that keeps track of leaderboards.
like just imagine sparrow racing being in the game full time. and there being a leaderboard for each week that keeps track of who has the most racing wins
Expansion without expanding game lol
It’s still confusing to me that the campaign was the big highlight for me unlike other expansions.
Destiny isn't there to entertain you. It's there to entrap you...
Exactly this
I wish bungie would listen to these videos.all of these things you say are so very much needed.
The Taken War was one of my favourite D1 quests. It really felt like the story of TTK continued after the main quest. D2 just feels lacking
These videos always help me sleep with tranquility in the background
Ngl if I could go back and change one thing about d2 this year, it would be to NOT add weapon crafting.
The Witch Queen campaign would be considered a 7/10 in any other game lol
@lilbu223 "in any other game"....that makes no sense but okay yes it was a good campaign I'm just saying what makes it good is the cinematic as they explained moments in the story in a satisfying visual way
@@oofmysoul140 I think he’s talking about how it seems like Bungie has a gun to most of their fans’ heads
Perfect video, you described it all so well. Hope this vid gets a lotta attention
Thank you. I just want to see this game actually deliver on its potential
