Please remember the emphasis on the changes to special weapons. Shotguns, fusions and snipers were all present in the HEAVY slot prior to forsaken. WQ is my favorite dlc of all, but forsaken WAS the game changer.
WQ almost needs to be in an entirely separate category. The first time I went into the caves with the orange herpes I was like yeah this fucking expansion is ridiculous.
@@صهيبسالم-ي5م yeah, I agree. Cross said it best when he said that forsaken basically resuscitated the game. People were genuinely excited to get exotics again.
@@LikelyLagging anytime anyone brings of the "is it worth playing" question/topic, I can PROUDLY say that yes, WQ is DEFINITELY worth playing for the campaign/raid alone. That it feels like an entirely new game and compared to year 1 D2, it basically is. Just like cross said in the video, my mind was blown when we found out the truth about the hive and their "god's"...and oh man, rhulk... I don't even know what to say other than "got damn!" Lol
I really want Bungie to start implementing world drop exotics again. That was one of the things that made Forsaken so magical for me on top of how great it already was. Every day you logged in, you never knew what exotic armor piece or weapon you might get, which led to some awesome moments and stories when you finally got one you were really wanting.
Exotics still drop, it’s just really rare. For example, while i was doing a mission after i killed a random cabal i got a exotic engram(i got that queen linear energy riffle)
@Nugtastic what i think he meant is that he wants back exotic weapons you could only get from random exotic engrams, last exotic gun we got that was a completely random world drop was Monte Carlo
@Nugtastic what he means i think is that you used to be able to get the new weapons and gear solely from killing ads and pure rng, and i agree, hearing the sound of the exotic drop, and slowly walking up to it wondering what incredible new toy you were about to get (then get dissapointed by skyburners oath) was just different
the only problem there is that exotic engrams will give you items you don't have, and most veterans will have all the world drops already, so adding new ones wouldn't be a good idea since most people would get them straight away
I literally had an exotic drop from just a public event on earth, albeit a mediocre hunter's shinobu chest piece. Plus, you can always just load up Grasps of Avarice and farm an exotic at the loot cave, get something random every forty minutes.
The amount of content we got for Forsaken was ASTOUNDING, and it's all amazing stuff too. In comparison we got less for Witch Queen BUT what we got is highly refined and just a downright joy to play. Both are fantastic expansions but Forsaken was just on another level for me.
Witch Queen is probably the most polished DLC and unified vision we've seen in a DLC, but I agree Forsaken takes the cake. Forsaken was entertaining for *months* and I'm kinda full on WQ already (there's more stuff I can do, but in general I'm pretty tapped out). Honestly the fact that WQ is even in the same conversation as Forsaken is a testament to how good it is, considering the insane scope of Forsaken (with 3 studios producing content).
Forsaken was huge (size and impact). I’ve always thought of it as the real “Destiny 2” release… much like how I think of The Taken King” as the true core of Destiny 1. Regarding Witch Queen, it’s awesome so far and I don’t think we’ve seen half of it yet. Just remember how long it actually took to unwrap Forsaken / Dreaming City. We are end of week 3 now on Witch Queen, just think how much we didn’t yet see of Forsaken by end of its week 3. Impossible to do an apples to apples just yet until we get further into the seasons. End of day, we wouldn’t have Witch Queen or maybe even Destiny 2 anymore without Forsaken. So ya, which one is better content wise is really tough and too early to call for me personally. Story wise, Witch Queen has got my full attention and it’s the first time I haven’t had to watch a Byf video to know what the heck is going on.
Far as activities and story etc, both Expansions are quite equal. Actually Witch Queen, far as story is much much better than forsaken. A lot of what made day 1 Forsaken was the reworks to things that should have not been a change to in the 1st place. They don’t get points for that because nobody asked for static rolls. But yes Forsaken has more content but it’s not a that much of a gap
When I first heard about Void 3.0 coming instead of a new poison subclass, like many people speculated, I was a little disappointed. Now I can't find myself using another subclass other than Void. The campaign was amazing on Legendary mode and the raid is great with a new enemy type boss. Forsaken and Witch Queen are so close together at the top but I think Forsaken still beats it by pure content.
literally havent even touched arc or solar since start of wq, and only stasis cuz the new exotics, especially renewal grasps counter void in ways and kinda busted
@@SnazzyPuke yea, even on hunter, with the pull inwards, the vortex nades have become soo much better, less think and more kill, especially since before, u would get like maybe 2 kills and then the enemies would walk out of ur grenade if they weren't dead. edit: only time i've really ever used the contraverse holds were back in forsaken launch, when handheld supernova was just win button
In my opinion Forsaken had more overall new content, while Witch Queen had the better campaign experience. I'm going to have to go with Forsaken though. New subclass branches, new game mode, TWO new roam areas, a dungeon, and more, just increased the game's longevity and successfully captured player interest.
@@fifthcylinder yep. We’re still supposedly getting a new dungeon I think next season, plus Arc and Solar 3.0, plus a revamped D1 raid. Who knows what else besides that.
@@fifthcylinder in that case id still argue that the experience of the first season of forsaken was better than the current season. Both good but the two just don’t compare content wise
Forsaken was Bungie's Magnum Opus. Not necessarily their best, but definitely the most important. The Witch Queen might be better then Forsaken due to the time period Destiny is in right now, but it will never take away the fact that Forsaken is without a doubt, the most important thing to happen to this game.
That the Witch Queen is in the conversation on what's the best Destiny expansion makes me love the new era of Destiny we are in. They weren't lying when they said D2's best days is ahead of us
Idk bro all the new stuff looks good but the fundamental issues are still there and until they fix it I’m gonna struggle playing the game and really enjoying it. I agreed w @Marcostyle when he reviewed witch queen
I'm not gonna lie it feels like we've passed the best days for d2 (forsaken). Yeah witch queen is cool and it moves the story forward and whatever but forsaken was peak destiny. Every season after forsaken except for black armoury and season of opulence were kinda shit. Beyond light and shadowkeep were underwhelming. Witch queen is just a step up from those two
@@car9182 forsaken had so much more to build off of though, forsaken completely reworked the entire game, that's what made forsaken so good. The story and destinations, and raid were just a bonus and comparable to what we got in WQ
@@cweezy1228 oh yeah don't get me wrong I know forsaken improved on majority of the major flaws of the game. But there's still flaws around now that bungie needs to fix. Witch queen has brought good stuff but compared to forsaken it feels like there still isn't much to do. Maybe it's because I'm a bit older now and back when forsaken came out I was okay with grinding and wasting away every day getting decent rolls on guns I wanted, but as for witch queen it's still just like there's not much to desire, just "do this so the (x) amount of money u paid doesn't go to waste"
The biggest turning point of D2 for me was the whisper mission. Came out towards the end of Warmind, right before Forsaken, and was the first time I felt the mystery and atmosphere in D2 that I felt throughout D1
As far as actually fixing the game and making the gameplay better overall, Forsaken hands down. As far as narrative and where we know the story is going right now? The Witch Queen... I think Forsaken really laid a lot of ground work for the rest of the expansions to really even matter. Not to mention, it was literally the biggest content drop Destiny has ever had.
I doubt they would have tried as hard to make Forsaken great if D2 had a great launch. But it didn't, it had a shit launch and they had to deliver hard to bring people back.
Like cross was saying though its kind of skewed because of how bad it was before, Forsaken literally pulled Destiny out of the trenches where as for Witch Queen tons of us were already regularly playing every day and it was only going up
For me, I think the biggest things are the raid and the legend campaign. The raid is a blast, with a few areas requiring most if not everybody to be involved, and then rhulk. My God was he fun to fight blind. He's still fun and so interesting. Then the legend campaign. Holy hell what an experience. I ran it solo and I felt so good after. It was challenging throughout but never felt impossible, it was so nice to just run missions instead of "go kill so many of an enemy" "go collect 20 of these" "talk to this person then this one then this one then this one". It felt like I was actually playing a campaign. I was and still am extremely happy with witch queen.
The witch queen feels like perfecting some of the lessons learned over the years and years of many flaws. While it’s not PERFECT, I think it is destiny’s strongest expansion and isn’t comparable with Forsaken and TTK which are good in their own right but I feel like the only reason they’re SOO heavily loved by fans is because how it turned the game experience on its head into something more enjoyable.
Taken king and forsaken were amazing expansions cus the games were bad witch queen was a good expansion when the game was already good. Imo seems like witch queen is better
Personally, I think Witch Queen is the best overall expansion. But, I’m not gonna lie, certain areas were done better in better DLCs. Crucible, Gambit, Open world and exotics (mostly quantity) were parts I say other DLCs did better.
It's impossible to compare overall effects of such good expansions. Both did their jobs of delivering just plain good content into the game and making people happy and having a good time.
WQ is better. Seeing how all of the stuff I grinded for in Forsaken is sunset all the way from pinnacles to quest guns such as my Blast Furnace I grinded just for it to be power capped I gotta knock Forsaken down a few pegs..... It's......... Okay now....
@@Kuhmodo so bungie decided to remove/reduce forsaken's value artificially, and that translates into a downside of the expansion itself? If you think like that forsaken might as well be down there with shadowkeep since there's only a raid and a dungeon now lmao
Forsaken is what got me to try out Destiny, so that campaign will always have a special place in the history, but Witch Queen has incredible missions. In my eyes, it seems clear that they’ve learned a lot a ton over the years to improve their quality. The Forsaken cutscenes might have been better though. I do like the Savathun cutscene with the traveler.
I re-watched all of Forsaken's cutscenes during the process of editing this video. Top tier cutscenes for sure. Started getting emotional again because of the Cayde-6 ones. Absolute chills.
Yah I think you're right, everything else is pretty equal or better in witch queen, but there's nothing close to shattered throne. But then maybe we'll get a similar dungeon at some point
@@leecorrigan8394 Shattered Throne sucks in comparison to the other two dungeons. I think Prophecy is the best dungeon. It has very little downtime in comparison to the other two.
Imo witchqueen campaign in terms of gameplay was the best, but honestly in terms of story, I don’t think it was that good. Not sure if it’s just me, but if you asked me what really happened in the campaign, I couldn’t tell you. If I had to say, I would say that we just ran around the throne world chasing clues to find savathun. Nothing really stuck out at all besides the final mission to me. There’s also still some confusion around mars for me. Nobody knows exactly why only just mars is back and why there is some parts of golden age mars. Also we didn’t really get experience mars at all really, we just ran through a tiny part, we got the enclave and an exotic mission, but the mission is half underground, and parts of D1 mars. I was hoping we would actually get to go to mars and explore and do something interesting with it, but honestly mars just feels like it is just there, isn’t doing anything and is kind of a let down. As for the ending of the campaign I liked the reveal of the witness, but the part I didn’t like too much is how we straight up just killed savathun and that was that. We didn’t get to see what we did with her body afterwards, or too much closure, she just kind of died. Sure her ghost is still out there, but I just feel like the final mission could’ve been so much better in terms of actual story.
Bro, you've just made one hell of video. Clips, editing, voice-over plus script, delivery. A lot of work went into this thing. All around epic. TY for the great content. Oh... And yeah, WQ is world class also.
Couldn't have said it better myself. Thanks for your dedication to your community and the Destiny community Aztecross. Witch Queen has made some massive leaps in many ways, similar to Forsaken, I just think that this time around has been more impactful. Pvp really needs some love, but everything feels incredible to play right now, weapons and abilities are all quite balanced but retain the power fantasy. Last but not least, we have Bungie full, undivided attention these days, as to back then there was a lot of internal conflict happening. So both expansions were amazing. But Witch Queen is probably the most solid expansion we've had
Forsaken was a great expansion that added so much life to the game that wasn't there in year 1's launch. I think campaign wise Witch Queen was much better. However Forsaken helped push destiny into a much better direction that has ultimately made the game leagues above what it used to be. So overall I'd have to say forsaken for the foundation it built. But Witch Queens story was leagues above forsaken in terms of sheer quality and substance.
Forsaken transformed a game that needed it. Witch Queen was able to make an already good game leagues better. For both serving different purposes I think they are both equal in the best expansions of D2
When I completed The Witch Queen at 2 am day after release, I couldn't sleep. I couldn't process the enormity of what I had experienced. (For me it was right up there with Red Dead Redemption, Crysis 2, Horizon Zero Dawn, Skyrim, etc). I was, and remain, in awe of what Bungie did here. I have about 4,000 hours in this game and I've never loved it more than I love it now. Sometimes I just run around the Throne World and do nothing but enjoy the sights.
You can’t compare it to each other you have to compare it to the time of the game. Forsaken made destiny 2 way better just like witch queen. Both had great stories but the witch queen story arguably setted it the future better
I like destiny. But after 10 years of playing the same content over and over, it just didn’t have the same appeal that it used to. I wish bungie had the balls to actually change up the gameplay loop from season to season, but instead we get the exact same activities with a new coat of paint. I miss the days where exotics actually felt powerful ( like in forsaken), not to mention the fact we get 1 raid a year, that is laughable for a game calling itself an MMO. The forsaken year added 3 raids, like its not even comparable. Forsaken was the best year of destiny and it’s well and truly behind us.
@@MrDustyGaming I'm kinda with you. I've really enjoyed the last couple years of Destiny but I find myself playing less and less each season, even as the game improves and evolves. I think the constant release cycle of content they've got themselves locked into prevents them from really revolutionizing the game so they have to do small evolutionary changes each year. So even though Witch Queen was the best campaign we've seen from Destiny, it still felt like something I've played before. Part of me would like to see them take 2-3 years off and develop a Destiny 3 and really try to create something new and unique and revolutionary from what we expect from Destiny. But...I also enjoy logging in every couple weeks and having something new to do.
You cant compare the entire year 2 to just witch queen when it launched only a month ago. After the whole years of content has been released, this comparison can be made
I like destiny. But after 10 years of playing the same content over and over, it just didn’t have the same appeal that it used to. I wish bungie had the balls to actually change up the gameplay loop from season to season, but instead we get the exact same activities with a new coat of paint. @@MrDustyGaming again it's not fair to compare an entire year if content to just the witch queen. If you want to count the confirmed things for the rest of the year, Witch queen will have 2 raids, and 2 dungeons, along with 2 pvp maps (at least) and that's not even anything seasonal. If you want to compare you can only compare season of the outlaw to witch queen + risen.
I quit destiny 2 only a month in after release. And came back 3 months before witchqueen. The game has changed so much I had to watch a lot of TH-cam to catch up. So much content now!
With the addition of Void 3.0, A new species introduced " im talking about Rhulk" and the addition of the Legendary Campaign i strongly feel The Witch Queen is hands down the best expansion in destiny history, im talking the best expansion between both Destiny 1 and Destiny 2.
I’m gonna be completely be honest with u I completely disagree with your opinion. Void 3.0 is cool but the switch to special ammo was much better and impactful. It also has a better raid and honestly who actually cares about the campaign. U play thru it once and never think about it again
@@charlez1174 who cares about the campaign? Ummm like a fuck ton of people bro. Don’t say who cares about the campaign when it’s one of the main things that people say make WQ amazing
Nobody talks about how busted Spectral Blades was in the beginning. 7th columns were being farmed on that Cabal ship map (I forget the name) because it was a circle and SB had near impenetrable shields and lasted forever.
Forsaken was amazing content and was a fixer for D2 but WQ is just solid on its own. Story, lore, raid, post campaign, weapons, void 3.0, etc make WQ the winner for me
Obviously Witch Queen is amazing, but I actually really like how Shadowkeep and Beyond Light set up the story. We were able to develop a relationship with the darkness and the pyramids almost to the point that I (personally) wasn’t scared of them anymore. That’s until Witch Queen came along and showed us exactly what lives inside of a pyramid, and who is behind all of them lol
I still don’t think we will know the full effects of witch queen and that we won’t for a few years. This expansion layed so much ground work for future content like implementing new systems and evolving the game
We love u man. U and byf are my favorite destiny tubers. And I hope all this copyright stuff gets figured out. Ur literally a Chad in all our eyes. Much love. From a warlock
Witch Queen is amazing, but the sunsetting locations has me sad. I just hate seeing content removed from a game. Especially with no way to experience it again or backup.
There was something about Foresaken that really drew me in. I was playing it everyday and had tons of fun. Everything felt good. Witch Queen to me is alright and I only really find myself playing for pinnacles and then getting off. I miss the old days
@@alpha3518 Yeah but the problem is the actual stuff Forsaken added - that being story, locations, etc. - is subpar to Witch Queen. The gameplay changes were going to happen regardless, but Forsaken's story was so cliche it's not even funny.
Aztecross… This is one of your best videos ever. You truly didn’t miss any detail, and I feel like this is valuable and relatable even to new guardians. Great job! I agree with everything you said. I do think I love Last wish a bit more than Vow of the Disciple, but I also love the pyramid aesthetics a bit better. Every raid has its own glory, but they are all fun and I want the D2 Year 1 raids to come back, even if destinations do not. I miss EoW, Levi, Spire, and CoS so much!
They’re fighting for spots 1 and 2 so they’re both the best we’ve had. However forsaken just had straight up more overall and NEW content and completely changed the game. WQ has good PvE and campaign… but at the cost of pvp for 3 years I don’t think that’s worth it or healthy for the game. Forsaken campaign was also really good people forget (and replayable if desired). Without the seasonal content from season of the risen, there’s nothing to do after 1 week besides farming wellspring or weekly raid runs to collect red box weapons. Forsaken had us playing and grinding longer than 1 week, and when all content was finished the pvp was actually playable to keep us until black armory. For this I think forsaken still has the top spot. People always overreact and to say that forsaken “isn’t even close” to WQ….. Both are good. Forsaken still #1
Since this is the most recent vid, i hope you see this my man. Much love about the situation going on with copyright strikes. You and byf have done more for this community than most when times were hard for the game. I hope bungie is able to reign these strikes in for you two and give you guys back your channels. ❤️❤️❤️
Please keep us updated on the strike situation. I better hear you say, "Anotha week boys and Aye-notha TWAB!" On Thursday. It's one moment I look forward to every single week. Sitting in my chair while I listen to my guy Aztecross read me the TWAB in his buttery accent. You're one of the premier channels I go to for Destiny related things, and by far my favorite thing to look forward to, is those TWAB videos. So I'll be praying for and rooting for you (and all the other amazing creators who got hit). Eyes up bro.
Forsaken is a 9.5, Witch Queen is a 9 imo, Both incredible expansions that just made the game better, with Forsaken just having more content and that savior launch feeling
Forsaken was the most honored to me pvp was so powerful getting Not forgotten was very hard work I cried when I was one game away from getting NF and lost ten games in a row I played hard didn't give up I got my NF and was the man 2 tapping everyone destiny will never get that kind of feeling again but it's still my favorite game 🎮 ❤
For me: Story - witch queen Locations - tie. Dreaming city is amazing, tangled shore can rot in the vault. Throne world is amazing. Raid - slight edge to last wish Other content/activities - I prefer blind well over wellspring...but the lack of matchmaking in forsaken is painful. I edge Witch Queen over Forsaken, and a lot of that is due to the fact that the systems of the game, which Forsaken helped to improve, are in a way better spot now. The yearly model is better. The story telling is better. The loop is better. Which helps WQ to feel better. Obviously, Forsaken was important in getting destiny to where it was today. And the gap between the expansion and where the game was previously was wider with Y1 and Forsaken. But if the question is which is the better, more fun expansion? I go Witch Queen all the way.
@@neels2044 which is great. And we are lacking one in Witch queen....but we also have Exotic quests and preservation and 2 dungeons supposedly coming this year. So yes, the dungeon was a great addition and set a good precedent
@@crumblyburgers but we are just talking about the BASE expansion not the upcoming seasons because then we also got 2 raids and A BUNCH of content from the forsaken annual pass
@@neels2044 we have an entirely new weapon crafting system for weapons and glaives, some really well made and tuned exotics post campaign for all 3 classes, amazing amount of weapons both craftable and world drops not to mention we already got Grasp of avarice last season so it's not really fair we expect another dungeon so soon from bungie. Tbh I don't think forsaken didn't bring anything as new as we have now, it made a bad game just way better but Witch queen took a product at it's upward trend and elevated it to it's peak. And we're getting master VoTD as well for some juicy content
I was beyond excited to play Destiny 2 back in 2017. I wanted to get back into Destiny, and the fact that it was coming to PC sent my hype sky high. At first, it was good. Getting back into the dance of Destiny. Joined a clan, and did clan stuff, Nightfalls, and raids. Everything soon after, fell off. Less and less of the clan played, more and more, i had to rely on LFG. At one point, trying to get a group together for EoW was hard. So, i quit. Like Jan. 2018. Skipped most of Warmind, 'til early Aug. 2018. I saw the Forsaken trailers, i read all the things that were gonna change, and i decided to give it one last chance. i haven't stopped playing, since. Sure, i took extended break here and there, but it was never for more than a couple weeks. The clan was slowly coming back, and truly, we were experiencing Destiny's best days up to that point. Y3 came, and again the clan left again. I remained steadfast. Y4, clan still was gone. My resolve was strong as ever. Y5, and the clan is coming back! My friends, whom i've played D2 vanilla, and Y2 with, are back! I use to think that Forsaken, and Y2 was the best Destiny ever was, and ever will be. So far, it seems i was wrong. I'm glad i was wrong.
Cross you really did an amazing job capturing the essence of each expansion and what they brought to the table. This was such a great journey down memory lane. Glad that we are all able to appreciate the richness that Bungie has brought to Destiny and we hope that this is just the beginning
I was gonna say witch queen was almost as good as forsaken until I remembered all the exotics and legendaries. 26 exotics? compared to 6 exotic armour pieces? Witch queen is pretty good but it feels too much like beyond light compared to forsaken which was taken king level in terms of how much content it added.
I remember thinking I finished forsaken and *then* walking into the dreaming city. There was just SO MUCH content in forsaken, but I think witch queen stands up there in quality. The art and story have really blown me away.
Forsaken was the best DLC hands down in Destiny. Witch queen is an easy second tho. Forsaken brought so many good changes, supers, exotics, maps, modes, stuff it was unmatched and it always will be the best.
I think Witch Queen edges it out, one of the cons that Forsaken brought was the over reliance on the Baron killing mission structure that bungie would have us do for the next 2 expansions with mixed results. Also the psi op missions actually pushing the story out of the throne world onto Earth & the moon is a huge breath of fresh air. Finally!! After years of expansions being self contained & having little to no impact on the world around them, we have an expansion that returns a bit of the Space fairing back into destiny.
After beating Leviathan, I quit for 3 years. Coming back in Season of Arrivals, there was so much to do. Everything was about to be sunset so blasting through everything I missed felt pretty refreshing compared to year one of doing nothing. Nothing will compare to the amount of stuff in that experience but they've kept me interested since then for the most part.
Bad take. If you think forsaken was more high fantasy than a mf bug queen being manipulated by the motherfucker from megamind who is trying to take over the known universe and you have to stop them, then I am seriously concerned for your cognitive skills
@@ExtraordinaryFate eh. Tbh other than pinnacles I’m already feeling like there isn’t much to do. By this time during forsaken I would still be grinding for 1k voices or Luna’s Howl or something. This DLC just hasn’t felt that crazy to me
Nothing will ever top Forsaken. Crucible will never be as fun. The game relies way more on repetition now than in Forsaken, and the season structure is such a rip off.
Forsaken without a doubt. WQ has a weapon crafting system, half baked out the box, a new useless weapon type, and more, that just keep it from being as good as Forsaken, between Last Wish raid, storyline, two patrol zones, bows actually being good, 3 new subclasses, and so much more. Its no contest. Plus, Bungo has both High Moon and Vicarious Visions keeping them from doing stupid things. It was glorious.
The main thing that I missed the most that Forsaken did was just the amount of new Exotics. I know technically we have gotten a lot since we have gotten basically 2 new ones each season leading up to the Witch Queen but I really loved that feeling of getting a random exotic drop in Forsaken and it being a new weapon I didnt have. I dont expect Bungie to make exotics only accessible from random drops but it would be nice to have like 2 new ones that just have a chance of dropping from anywhere.
Im gonna be honest. I never understood the hate the red war got. I thought it was super fun (as a destiny newbie) to experience the story and campaign. Destiny was one of the few games which gave me the "wooaahhhh" factor which i only last experienced when i started playing World of Warcraft back in mid TBC. But as of right now in D2 i really miss the forsaken days, i enjoyed the theme a bunch more and we didn't have this bullshit sunsetting which vaulted most of my daily driver guns from back in the day, those guns remain alive in my vault simply due to my emotional attachment and reminder of some better days. That's not to say im not enjoying D2 as it is right now. Im having quite a bunch of fun (minus the insane desync in pvp which came with crossplay)
Between witch queen and forsaken I don’t know what all lightfall could even overhaul. That’s a good thing tho because that just means more content and more surprises. The future of destiny is bright.
Oh man,if you don’t know what needs to be changed I think this whole community is doomed 😪🤦♂️ literally a million things can be done to change this game and make it much much better

Now absolutely everything in the game means nothing and it’s so Un eventfully getting anything. And then you have people like the guy who posted this saying he dose not know what could be overhauled 🤷♂️ and that’s exactly why the game is why it is
Forsaken ranks at the top simply for that Dreaming City reveal. I remember booting up the game, looking at the new zone, and feeling underwhelmed. Tangled Shore is a great zone, but I was expecting more. The real changes were made at the foundation of Destiny 2. More PvP content, sandbox changes, random rolls, Gambit, and FINALLY introducing LORE in the goddamn game. Year 2 was such a defining moment for the franchise. Now, with all this being said? IMHO that leaves Witch Queen as the 2nd best Expansion and would have even topped Forsaken if we got all the Subclass reworks on day one, new PvP maps, and new Gambit maps.
Forsaken > WQ for total value added to the game. Discussing which DLC/expansion is better is NOT a state of the game discussion, it is judging which DLC brought more into the game and expanded upon preexisting systems. WQ is still undoubtedly top 3 in terms of Destiny dlc, but the game was already in a great space compared to what the game was prior to Forsaken and Taken King back in D1
@@shiningpecan6978 Fixing the game aside, WQ has “added more” is just flat out wrong. You could absolutely make a quality over quantity argument in favor of WQ. But in no way shape or form has WQ added more than Forsaken…
Keep your head up Cross. 2 hours, 2 days, 2 weeks or even hell even 2 months won't keep me away. You'll be back up soon. As always thanks for the content!
Man forsaken was great. So many activities. Black armory and opulence's memagerie is awesome. Gambit prime is fun too. Outbreak perfected and whisper quest make my jaw drop. Man I had so much fun back then.
The only problem I have with the witch queen as of right now is the lack of pvp content again. I’m not a big pvp guy but I casually drop in the mode so I would really like to see more content for it.
Forsaken did had a much higher impact when u compare it to what the game was before/after forsaken, but Witch Queen is just a much better time to play destiny due to all the changes and improvements the game has been trough
@@Spartan-sz7km Nah, the campaign was fine. WQ’s campaign is significantly better though. But forsaken isn’t seen better because of the campaign. It had vastly more content than WQ and even TTK I believe. It had more weapons, armor, 9 new subclasses, strikes, crucible maps, gambit, a dungeon, etc.
I've been playing this game since Beta, and idk if Bungie does it on purpose or what, but every second year has been a "Save the game" expansion. Forsaken and TTK have a really similar feel to me. With TTK bringing a huge change in the way we leveled, three new supers with Hammertime Titan, Darth Warlock, and Do a barrel roll Hunter. Introduced a new weapon type with swords. A huge destination with endgame level bosses. The Court of Oryx public event area. The Kingsfall raid, which is easily still top 3 imo. All this coming off of D1 year one which could easily be described as VoG, A long strike disguised as a raid, and Prison of Elders
Forsaken in my opinion was substantially better. It brought the game back to its roots but the sum of content Forsaken brought was so much more substantial. More exotics, new subclasses, the introduction of Gambit, the first Dungeon, and one of the best Raids ever made. Witch Queen is like Forsaken Lite. One cool area, weapon crafting, Gambit rework, and a cool raid.
I think Forsaken was a phenomenal expansion, and it saved Destiny 2 from dying. However, it's important to remember that at that time, absolutely anything would have been better than year 1. It took a 4/10 at the time and put it to a 10/10. Witch Queen on the other hand, took an already great game and elevated it to another plane. Witch Queen was better than Forsaken because it took something great and made it better. Forsaken was no doubt amazing, however, the bar was already so low at the time that anything would have been received well.
sooo, we just gonna forget about the taken king? i mean, ttk was basically in a lot of ways nearly the same impact as forshaken, if not better, its just that bungie pressed control Z on all of d1
I'd say it was more impactful than that. Before TTK, Destiny wasn't as popular as say games like Call Of Duty or Halo. But when TTK released, it opened up a whole new realm of possibilities that allowed the game to go further. It created mysteries, compelling stories, challenged new gameplay designs and constructs. If anything, it revealed a whole new world of gaming dynamics that was then made available to the rest of the world. Once other companies saw how Bungie was able to transform a small game into something bigger, many also started trying the same thing. However, those gaming companies knew that it wouldn't be as impactful as Destiny, because it was a whole bunch of new ideas taken with risky shots. However, those risks are what prevailed in creating a better game for many tk experience. So, in simpler terms, you're right. TTK was perhaps the greatest impact for Destiny ever, and will probably never be able to reach that impact again. However, we still hold out hope. As long as we stay loyal to the game for what it is bringing us so far, we should not be disappointed in what we gain from the experience
The Witch Queen story was amazing, and the raid was very well done as well. After that, the rest is meh. Crucible is a mess, gambit is terrible and nothing else is really worth talking about. Crafting is cool, but why do I have to rely on rng to give me enough red box weapons in order to craft that weapon. IMO Forsaken had a bigger impact on the entire game than the WItch Queen did.
Crucible is not perfect, but wow I'm very happy to have left behind OEM/Recluse/Mtntop, where you couldn't shoot a titan in rumble unless you wanted to die (I am lumping all pinnacles in with Forsaken). Revoker broke endgame PvP for years. Things aren't perfect now, but the renewed emphasis on gunplay, nerfs to every special weapon type, and dynamic cooldowns for abilities has brought new life into the Crucible. I want new maps, but I think the massive amount of changes from Beyond Light to Witch Queen is what's made Crucible fun again (for me).
This is where I am as well. He'll, I lost interest before the raid even came out. I don't understand why if we are going to be guided towards doing the same activities over and over again why they can't get new maps to at least make things somewhat interesting. No new crucible or gambit maps and only 2 strikes.
wq has nothing on forsaken whatsoever other then the story hahaha. aint nothin do in wq other then farm god roll on random trash weapons just to throw in yor vault. shits so bad

@@DJET723 he's right though, WQ is a snooze fest. Forsaken had weeks and weeks of content like dreaming city curse weeks and the grind for power took forever not to mention the exotics were rare af. After WQ campaign that was it lmao people already hit 1560 within a day nearly. The 3 new exotics we got armor wise are so forgettable and the exotics glaives.. lmfao. Void 3.0 is excellent everything else is weak. That new exotic mission doesn't even hold a candle to presage or harbinger let alone whisper secret mission or zero hour.
Hands down Forsaken was and is the best DLC Destiny has released. Not only was it the saving grace of the franchise it laid the foundation for what we have in Witch Queen. Nothing we have would be possible without it. For that alone its the best. WQ is phenomenal but not better then Forsaken
You can’t compare a full year of destiny to 2-3 months in, this comparison video should only be made by the end of witch queen to make the drawing line to which expansion is truly better.
Well for me Witch queen was more worth it because the campaign alone was worth 40€ for me but in forsaken the campaign was very boring imo and yeah Vow of the disciple is cooler than Last Wish but the only thing that is way better in forsaken is the exotics and when we got our new supers I could not play the game if Chaos Reach and nova warp didnt get introduced cuz those are now my favourite supers and the reason why I play Warlock over Titan and Hunter
It’s come a ways . I’m still here so that means it’s fun and good when new content drops . It’s like a good week or two of my favorite type of gaming . A nice decently long campaign with good side quests for goood weapons and end game content that’s good
For me personally forsaken was a game changer because d2 vanilla & prior was a complete pile of shit so it’s sandbox changes & content of pvp modes pve & season pass gave it that new life. But witch queen with the current state of d2 is in is another level to forsaken because it’s made the game better where d2 prior to witch queen was in a far superior state of healthiness if sandbox & player base raids dungeons pve content even trials/pvp so to be better than what the game is in in a healthier state & to top that is huge ground work.
Thank you Cross ❤...you took me.back through my life these last 7 years.. I'm glad Destiny was a part of the ride.. good and bad.. we still have a ways to go.. see you all star side guardians 💫
Forsaken was better in my opinion. Just because of how much content there was following the reintroduction of random rolls and special weapons. Witch Queen brought of a lot of good things, but I will always regard Forsaken as the resurrection of Destiny 2.
The only reason I believe forsaken was good was because of how bad the game was before it came out with curse of osiris
Imo it's over-rated cuz destiny year 1 was so shit
I think it’s the fact that it literally saved the game.
Nicely put, exactly my thoughts as well
Witch Queen is probably the most polished DLC and unified vision we've seen in a DLC, but I agree Forsaken takes the cake.
Forsaken and Witch Queen are so close together at the top but I think Forsaken still beats it by pure content.
legit. can't wait for arc and solar 3.0
literally havent even touched arc or solar since start of wq, and only stasis cuz the new exotics, especially renewal grasps counter void in ways and kinda busted
@StelthStriker786 I'm a Warlock main so I haven't taken out my Controverse Holds with Vortex nades. So good
@@SnazzyPuke same. Really wish they would make an Ornament for Controverse hold already
WQ isn't done yet so it's not really a fair comparison. We are getting more. I think they're a tie personally
@@fifthcylinder yep. We’re still supposedly getting a new dungeon I think next season, plus Arc and Solar 3.0, plus a revamped D1 raid. Who knows what else besides that.

Halo is bungie's magnum opus in general
Forsaken is bungie's magnum opus for destiny
@@WhoTheHellIsDave All the Halo's are Bungie's Magnum Opus (especially Reach)
@@car9182 I feel same way. For me,Forsaken is still peak D2
Couldn’t agree more! There is no WQ if not for Forsaken. There probably isn’t even Destiny 2 (as we currently know it) if not for Forsaken
I doubt they would have tried as hard to make Forsaken great if D2 had a great launch. But it didn't, it had a shit launch and they had to deliver hard to bring people back.
Like cross was saying though its kind of skewed because of how bad it was before, Forsaken literally pulled Destiny out of the trenches where as for Witch Queen tons of us were already regularly playing every day and it was only going up
Idk, TTK had so much content as well. But that was yearly expansion
Now what about Arc 3.0 and Solar 3.0?
This right here
Yep definitely a lot of the perception is through rose tinted glasses
Tell aside from the campaign, what did WQ add to the game compared To Forsaken , cause i can tell alot of reasona why forsaken is way better
@@XTheGamer101X read the patch notes?
Taken king and forsaken were amazing expansions cus the games were bad witch queen was a good expansion when the game was already good. Imo seems like witch queen is better
Personally, I think Witch Queen is the best overall expansion. But, I’m not gonna lie, certain areas were done better in better DLCs.
Crucible, Gambit, Open world and exotics (mostly quantity) were parts I say other DLCs did better.
It's impossible to compare overall effects of such good expansions. Both did their jobs of delivering just plain good content into the game and making people happy and having a good time.
this. witch queen's 40$ translate better in it's campaign vs forsaken's campaign, but forsaken did much more for the game than a campaign and a raid
WQ is better. Seeing how all of the stuff I grinded for in Forsaken is sunset all the way from pinnacles to quest guns such as my Blast Furnace I grinded just for it to be power capped I gotta knock Forsaken down a few pegs..... It's......... Okay now....
ayoo it's our boi
Absolute chills.
cutscenes are one thing where there is no substitute for money. like, you pay more, you get more, and bungie has a limited budget.
Am I the only one who didn’t enjoy witch queen at all
Maybe I was just bored of destiny but it just wasn’t fun at all to me
The reveal of cayde's death back in time made me shiver, and still make me shiver till this day...
Witch queen campaign is better but the end game in forsaken was better, seemed to have more to do and keep you playing more
Yah I think you're right, everything else is pretty equal or better in witch queen, but there's nothing close to shattered throne.

Forsaken literally saved Destiny 2! Clear winner for me!
Saving it doesn't make it better. Which of the two in a closed area is better. It's not witch queens fault that the seasons prior to it were good.
@@Brown614 either way it provided much more content all around. Hate to say it but I’ve already gotten a bit bored and I didn’t even grind that much.

Forsaken still #1
Best outro music so far. Great video as always, Cross
Totally off topic, you have the best commentary of any other Destiny content creator I watch! Keep on Keeping on.
Didn't people bitch about pinnacle weapons?
Amen only real ones remember the grind and struggle to getting NF and the satisfaction of getting it was in real i struggled for mine 😭😭
Now me personally ttk will always be my favorite that really set tone for everything that came later and it changed everything
For me:
Story - witch queen
Locations - tie. Dreaming city is amazing, tangled shore can rot in the vault. Throne world is amazing.
Raid - slight edge to last wish
Other content/activities - I prefer blind well over wellspring...but the lack of matchmaking in forsaken is painful.
What about the dungeon in forsaken?
Witch queen was good but Forsaken was still better. It just felt massive in its scope
@nomasporfavor That moment when you tell people your life story on an Aztecross video.
@@ExtraordinaryFate if that’s what you consider a life story then I fear for how boring your existence is
Cross you really did an amazing job capturing the essence of each expansion and what they brought to the table.
I’d argue taken king is the best
@@makaveliba4243 bro you are hilarious. TTK had 7 months without any new content.
@@stevanhaire5300 okay? Taken king brought so much content it was ridiculous
Finally!! After years of expansions being self contained & having little to no impact on the world around them, we have an expansion that returns a bit of the Space fairing back into destiny.
my only let down in the witch queen is the amount of scorn we're facing. I was expecting a lot more hive but instead we got Scorn Queen
Great, well rounded video man. I could tell it took a while. Thanks for making this.
Witch Queen is great but Forsaken is in a league of its own
After beating Leviathan, I quit for 3 years. Coming back in Season of Arrivals, there was so much to do. Everything was about to be sunset so blasting through everything I missed felt pretty refreshing compared to year one of doing nothing. Nothing will compare to the amount of stuff in that experience but they've kept me interested since then for the most part.
That's a bad take. You literally had 3 years worth of content to play through, versus what? An expansion at a time?
Forsaken had much more of the high-fantasy feel for me, but Witch queen has really brought lots of things to do.
Lots to do like what?
Bad take. If you think forsaken was more high fantasy than a mf bug queen being manipulated by the motherfucker from megamind who is trying to take over the known universe and you have to stop them, then I am seriously concerned for your cognitive skills
@@SayLes427 I could be here all day saying what there is to do, so I'll just stop you right there before I try to actually list them.

PvP player detected. Opinion: invalid
Personally Forsaken was a better "complete" experience whereas Witch Queen was a better PvE experience imo.
Perfectly said. Forsaken had content all around
Dude, your presentations are absolutely on the money! I bet Bungie look forwrad to your uploads as much as you look forward to their updates.
Between witch queen and forsaken I don’t know what all lightfall could even overhaul. That’s a good thing tho because that just means more content and more surprises. The future of destiny is bright.

Cross, I appreciate how hard you work on these videos man. Top notch as always.
WQ has a lot going for it big potential with upcoming seasoms
Fixing the game isn't the same as total value. That's just making the game playable. Witch queen has added more and it's just the start.
@@shiningpecan6978 Fixing the game aside, WQ has “added more” is just flat out wrong. You could absolutely make a quality over quantity argument in favor of WQ. But in no way shape or form has WQ added more than Forsaken…
@@Chris-ld5vk are you talking about all of forsaken or just the first season of forsaken?

foresaken was lightyears more impactful than anything bungie has ever done for this game
I honestly find myself enjoying PVE more than PVP these days.
Beautiful narrative my guy. You have a natural gift!
Forsaken did had a much higher impact when u compare it to what the game was before/after forsaken, but Witch Queen is just a much better time to play destiny due to all the changes and improvements the game has been trough
Forsaken is seen as better because of how terrible d2 y1 was. But forsakens campaign in hindsight is really boring
Witch queen is a turning point in story for sure, and being here since D1, ITS INSANE!
Dude! Awesome video, and you nailed it on both expansions!! Great job!
Forsaken was different man... Witch Queen is great but Forsaken was legendary
Realllllyyyy good video brother well organized and hits all the main points. Nice job man.
sooo, we just gonna forget about the taken king? i mean, ttk was basically in a lot of ways nearly the same impact as forshaken, if not better, its just that bungie pressed control Z on all of d1
WOW Cross, this video was AWESOME!!!! GREAT JOB!!!
Forsaken hit different, it really was a great comparison piece to The Taken King.
Forsaken walked so Witch Queen could run.

@@DJET723 he's right though, WQ is a snooze fest. Forsaken had weeks and weeks of content like dreaming city curse weeks and the grind for power took forever not to mention the exotics were rare af. Void 3.0 is excellent everything else is weak. That new exotic mission doesn't even hold a candle to presage or harbinger let alone whisper secret mission or zero hour.

Hands down Forsaken was and is the best DLC Destiny has released. Not only was it the saving grace of the franchise it laid the foundation for what we have in Witch Queen. Nothing we have would be possible without it. For that alone its the best. WQ is phenomenal but not better then Forsaken

Yooo I did not see that cutscenes with the hive being brought back in the ocean. That looks so good.
That was quite insightful. Nice work
