That Xbox was definitely updated at least once because when the Xbox 360 launched, it indeed didn't have a marketplace tab. I still remember when they added it, and thought it was weird that it was on the left side of the default screen.
The xbox 360 had some pots you could adjust with a really small screwdriver that adjusted the laser. But it’s worth replacing the disc drive, I was literally just looking into buying a Xbox 360 blade dash board this week lol
Yeah I'll try it. I woulda thought it would pop up with something either way. I know on the ps3, when you put a newer game on an older firmware, it'll bring up a pop-up that asks you to update your console
Certainly keeping the blades is Nice. Some of the other system dashboards that came afterwards would be cool too especially some of the earlier ones. 🎮😃
I remember when I first saw this dashboard. My cousin had come over and brought his 360 over along with Halo 3 (the greatest game ever to exist btw) and mind you I never played an Xbox til' that day and I was 8 or 9. I thought it looked very cool futuristic at the time lmao.
I found one during the last UK Covid Lockdown so about March 2021, there were 9 mixed 360 consoles all phat, a PS3 slim, a 360 controller and a silver PS3 controller, all 'broken', the controllers were easy fixes, a thunbstick and a dead PS3 battery and all the 360s repaired, all were sticky/non working drives and 1 was a frozen update so that needed the USB stick update fix, the PS3 was red light of death so I'll donor parts on that one. Anyone in the UKs north should remember GRANGER GAMES, they went bust just before covid and all the stores closed, my local one was getting cleared out by the landlord and I was the first to walk by, they just put them out on the curb with a sexy XBOX banner and some shelving. My favorite Xbox 360 dashboard? the current one, I'm used to it now and it does it's job but I did like blades, it gave me goosebumps seeing it again, I called my girlfriend into my games room to show her and she just rolled her eyes, she's not a gamer !
Last time I saw the blades was January 2009. Specifically I think it was January 11. That was the night I got Xbox live and it updated to the newer dash board. Definitely miss the blades, remember just messing around in the different tabs, good times.
There was also the Gen2 blades OS that few people talk about. This was a quick holdover update between the blades dashboard design and NXE. I and some others refer to it as the "Carbon" dashboard or "Blades carbon. it lasted a little less than a year right before the launch of NXE and as such is VERY rare since no consoles came with it pre installed like the blades OS. You would need to find a system that updated to it and never went further into NXE around 2007/8. Very interesting. The 360 dashes were ahead of their time to be sure.

I honestly don't know why they changed it. I actually got my Xbox 360 when still had the blades. At the time to Elite had only just come out. To this day it still runs and has not gotten a red ring because I'm pretty sure that the elite also had Red Ring issues. In fact my friend who got a Xbox 360 got a red ring he got it repaired and they removed the faceplate and the power button so you actually had to stick your finger in there and hit the actual switch.

I bought one last year, before the pandemics and it came with this theme. Too bad I've updated it, I didn't know what I was doing, cause it's my first Xbox ever.
I didn't know this existed fascinating bit of gaming technology thanks for sharing
Sam and Logan Norrell sure had good taste in games as well as interfaces!
I have one of these!!! I found it broken in a lot I bought it had a broken USB port I fixed it and was surprised when I booted it I'm keeping it it's so nostalgic
Your mic made me think I had someone walking above my head everytime you bumped the console lmao
Great vid!
For my 13th birthday in March my parents new how badly I wanted an Xbox and I mentioned the Xbox 360 as it’s still a great console and my dad managed to find one in perfect condition for 50 dollars with everything to power it, HDMI cables, the hard drive, 3 controllers, and 13 games! Idk how he found all that for $50 but he did and I use it a lot and it works perfectly fine so… wow
2:58 From what I know, they work the same except for emulation of og Xbox games.
They work for BC of OG Xbox too.
You just need to inject the emulator on the HDD
Definitely the best dashboard. Looks nice, simple and very easy to navigate.
I found hovering a vaccum cleaner hose above the laser assembly helps suck the dust out of it under the lense.
Thank you for saving this piece of history
Never realised the blades dashboard was rare as a hospital in the uk I went to and rarely go to now has or had one of them blades 360s. From memory.
This looks extremely clean and brand new and for a 15 year old used console.
I find it funny that people called the blades dashboard when those "blades" are actually supposed to be files going back-and-forth.
I need a way to homebrew a PS3 dashboard/OS onto literally anything. Favorite console.
It would be nice if Microsoft gave the 360 those blades back as a thank you for gaming with us
You got ripped mate , you can buy them in Australia for 30 dollars fully working.
The music visualizer on this is something I miss dearly
I love the new dashboard. The blades seems kinda... difficult to use.
I'm glad I'm not the only one who thought this. The blades are cool but the newer one seemed easier to navigate and see everything.
I might have found one at goodwill :) missing the power cords when i found it
