I feel like in the first Ong Bak, the action scenes felt so raw and impressive. As his movies progressed though, it seemed like they gradually shifted most of the heavy lifting to the camerawork/editing.
When people ask: ''Why didn't Tony Jaa became a big star like Donnie Yen or Jet Li?", this is the movie I point out to them. This movie and all the behind scenes BS and drama that surrounded it, basically ruined his career.
@@PozitivMC During the production of Ong Bak 2&3, Tony Jaa was always fighting with the director & producer. He wanted to include more Buddhist philosophy and spirituality. The producers told him: "It's supposed to be an action flick, put more fights in it. " Also, his contract was supposed to be renewed and allegedly, the producer was pressuring him to sign a very scammy contract, where he would make very little money and would shoot exclusively for his studio. Allegedly, the producer threatened Tony Jaa to sign the contract. Tony Jaa then had some sort of breakdown, on a Thai TV talk show, where he started crying live on air. He also went to the Thai police and asked for protection from his producer. He then disappeared for a couple of months while they were still filming part 3. So the producer had the movie finished by editing some random scenes together that were shot with Tony Jaa, before he disappeared. That's why Part 3 of Ong-Bak doesn't make any sense in terms of story. Tony Jaa eventually appeared again and claimed that he's now a Buddhist monk and doesn't want to make movies anymore. The producer sued him, because he had still a contract but the court ruled in Tony Jaa's favor, because he was officially recognized as a monk and thus the contract was invalid, according to Thai laws. The whole monk thing was eventually a legal trick, to get him out of his contract and after a couple of years, Tony Jaa left the monastery and returned to the movies. At this point, the Thai movie industry practically blacklisted him and he only gets work in Hollywood or other Asian movies, mostly as a secondary actor nowadays, like in that Master Z movie with Max Zhang or in Expendables 4.
This movie i am big fan of Tony Jaa and the villian is very comedy. Because he is shouting for fight makes the serious fight into comedy fight scene. 😂😂😂😂😂😂
@@TheLostDude7 Tony Ja said when he made this movie, he mixed the Thai traditional dance with Muay Thai and named it Natayudtha. However, can't deny that some move is obviously kung fu.

This was really to show the true arts I. Mui Thai. Watch this scene again and look at it for that purpose. I did wanna see the straight violent ways of the fighting style like ong back 2 1 , but this one was really the art of mui Thai fr fr. Jaa was screaming killing yelling, this was one completely silent and artsy
Ong Bak 2 still had solid fight scenes and really allowed Jaa to diversify the choreography and martial performance he was giving. Ong Bak 3 was, well, very odd, the fight scenes are just not up to the standards set beforehand.
To watch this movie for the first time on television, my bros and I had to go against mom as mom wanted to watch the hindi series. But after watching this movie it is not worth what we did!!! Part 2 was more interesting 😂😂😂
When Tien has a vision of the consequences his violent reaction to the evil deeds of the bad guy will have, he decides to “fight without fighting”. He uses a softer martial art to literarily guide the bad guy to face the consequences of his own karma, without actually personally killing him, so there are no more karmic ties between them. The death by broken elephant tusk is also significant. An elephant in India with a broken tusk is called Ganesh, as Ganesh had lost a tusk in a similar incident. Since the evil guy was actively involved in elephant abuse, this elephant is now an active part of the fulfilment of his karma and he becomes, as Ganesh, a lord of beginnings and of the removing of obstacles.
Ah yes, a movie about an ethnic born Khmer turned Thai playing as a savior going against a villainous Khmer King. I have yet to see a single historical or fantasy movie from Thailand that portrayed us as anything aside from being villainous or black magic wielder. The Thai-Khmer relationship between both royal family since ancient times are tied by marriage, if our head of states are evil, then so are yours.
Looks like the Time of the Mayan/ Aztec Empire,,,the fighting technique is also good almost like an Indian dance style with a mixture of martial art creative hand and feet movements
