Nice video, good way to comprise the most notable changes between the 2005 build and final game. I also can't help but think about the idea of preserving these early builds and how it isn't really something as feasible these days, if at all. I'm guessing game companies don't use discs to carry around these early builds in order to show them off at events and such like they did for Dead Rising back in the mid-2000s. While I'm sure (or perhaps hope) some companies hang onto those builds in a hard drive somewhere for the sake of it, who's to say if they will ever reach the public? It's a godsend you were able to get as many as you did on your hands.
Its crazy that lots of games are made and just shipped. Dead rising is so amazing in many ways. Showing how much it changed over 1-2 years is amazing. I wish some things were kept in the game but im still very happy with the game. Its my second favorite game of all time. I come across things that I've never seen before and never will again sometimes, old Beta animations and things left in the game i saw Burt use the beta baseball bat swing multiple times and it makes me curious what else is still there. These videos definitely are fun to watch and i love learning about what was in the game, what changed, what was taken out, and what is still there. Thanks Stip0 much love. I just wish Frank still had some of those good eyebrows
If Dead Rising was released in 2005, maybe Frank West would have the roll of father figure (before or instead of Chuck Greene), taking care of Dakota. Just like that old concept art of 2005 Frank West with a chainsaw, protecting Dakota.
Hey STiP0, I have a serious request. I've heard this long going rumor with NO SOURCE that originally Cliff Hudson was the original final boss, or rather, the person who started the outbreak, and controlled an army of zombies. Could you possibly make a video dedicated to rumors for Dead Rising and proving/busting them?
Gotta go against the grain and condemn throwing fuel onto that fire. Making theories is one thing but I don’t like the idea of giving unconfirmed claims attention.
This game made a big impact on me. Why do I remember playing this game as the first game I played on 360 at my friends house when he was one of the first people to get one?
The 360 launch was a little weird, what with it being the first console to release with a cheaper version. $400 was a bitter pill to swallow in '05, so the cheaper 360 Core helped soften the blow. The platform took a couple of years to pick up steam and become as big as it did, so I doubt releasing DR1 early would have helped at all. Not to mention, I was 18 when the 360 launched and I don't remember much hype at all about it, whatsoever. I didn't even know DR was a thing until almost a year after its release. I always thought of DR as one of those evergreen games, where the launch was sort of silent, but it became known as a must-have game to get when you buy your first 360. So, I'm glad they took the time to refine the game, it was a very smart move. Also that woman at 10:57 looked like Nathan Explosion in drag
Yeah I agree with what you said. I was 9 when the 360 launched and I also dont remember any hype whatsoever. Myself and most of the kids in my school still just played on the ps2 back then. As for Dead Rising, I remember seeing it in the shops around early December 2006. My mum took me and my cousin christmas shopping, and because we were both getting 360s that christmas she took us to HMV to pick some games for Christmas day. I picked up Dead Rising and a couple of other games which I cant remember. Needless to say when my cousin came round to our house for christmas, we fired up my 360 and played the shit out of Dead Rising. It definitely was a must have game if you had a 360. But like you said, it was sort of released on the down-low. Amazing game though, had some great fun with it back on the day.
If dead rising was released in 2005 I would’ve still liked it, yes I do like the fun and colorful dead rising, but I also liked the much more horror theme.
This is exactly the reason why I disagree with STiPO’s opinion on how the North Plaza should have remained colorful like the others. The final North Plaza contrasts against the other levels and has more of a “horror” atmosphere. imo.

Saw your tweet yesterday and was hyped for the video! I agree the earlier zombies looked more gruesome and would've dope to see them in game but I think the changes to them seemed more fitting regarding the time of events in game. It would have been cool though as the days in game pass for the zombies to start looking more gruesome and pale, imagine starting the game in regular Dead Rising fashion and the game ending in RE:Operation Raccoon City environment.
Great video! Watching your content really makes me wish Capcom really cared about this series and would make a proper game! Haven't enjoyed an entry to the series since the second game, and I've given them all plenty of chances!
The final game was pretty much perfect in my opinion. The recent GDQ speedrun done by DrunkWario was also great to see, some other good zombie games DyingLight, Day-Z, Resident evil 2, Unturned, House of the Dead and Left 4 dead.
*I would prefer having all the different zombie variants between final release and the oldest betas with that crazy red hud from TGS and that one shotgun running animation, lean more heavily on the horror elements, expand the game to include the whole city as a playable area and add in an optional CO-OP mode, have an unlockable version of infinity mode spliced with the story mode with a harder challenge curve as each day passes that would start off with a classic dead rising vibe and would morph into an almost dark souls level challenge.* I think about the what ifs and theorycraft about ways to drastically alter existing games, even ones I consider to be flawless gems. Even though STiP0 does not upload for a while since he is only one man and not a group. I think STiP0 may have found a new build of Dead Rising. Most likely one of the two 2005 builds or the 0.45 build.
Something i would really liked was they keep the hud from TGS 2005.. man it looked pretty good compared to the final version.. And i dont know why but at some certain part of the game i would liked to see the old frank version in final game ;-; oof
I think capcom is the most interesting when it comes to betas. When you look back at resident evil betas for 2 and 4. It’s always interesting to see what could have been, this doesn’t happen as much anymore 😕

It's very likely that the little girl (who's also in the "secret intro" if you stay on the main menu long enough) was part of a build here, yet oddly enough, only the video exists, no model or dialogue for her or referring to her
What if they did a Dead Rising 4: Off The Record, where you play as Chuck? Considering I like DR2: OTR way more than the normal DR2, I feel like I'd like it, at least.
Dead Rising was the reason I brought a 360. And a reason I laughed and cried inside after seeing the fourth one, aka the game I don't consider a Dead Rising, more like a Resident Evil lite.
This video got me thinking. If I were to look at it at a realistic stand point and sum it up, I assume it all was just too demanding for the system. Thatd be lovely. But then again, I'd really miss the 2005 one if I remembered it. Remake 2 wouldn't exist. The Evil within. Dead space wouldn't exist as they do. Gears of war even.

I really hope the new Dead Rising will be more like the 1st one. With the Remake coming out I feel like Capcom will take notice. The first dead rising was previously the only zombie game to actually scare me. I mean I'm numb to them but they'll get me time to time. Honestly, I am happy with the Dead Rising we have now. If it were released in 2005, it would have been heavily compared to Resident Evil. I would have rather played old Dead Rising. We can only hope Capcom decides to reboot the franchise in a few years with the old theme. Its also interesting to know that they probably reused the Frank/Dakota idea in DR2 with Chuck/Katie.
I recently found your channel and love your content, but I do have a question about the different builds. Was there ever a build where there was no clock tower, bee clock or rides for the roller coaster? The first copy I ever had of this game had none of these things and it wasn't till playing a copy at my friends house did I notice these were even in the game. Sadly I dont have the copy anymore or any of the pictures back from early 2007ish but I was wondering if this was a common thing because when showing all my friends it used to be like a wild thing to all of us
