      That sound like the beo sword in Fire Emblem 5.
      That sword gave at the user 2 skills, vantage and wrath, those 2 skills will always activate after a counterattack, but wrath and vantage can't be activated at the same time, because wrath doesn't work when you have vantage.

    You can farm Headhunters before getting the Highwind. There's an island you can get to with the Tiny Bronco that still counts as being in the Mideel area. I remember them being pretty common, but there may be other enemies in that area. Still, you can use them to farm AP on Disc 1.

    Nice video :)
    I had calculated the average AP per battle by location according to the quantity and the encounter rate of enemies.
    *Junon* , 1st corridor: 138 AP => new best spot once you get the buggy
    *Mideel Area, beach* : 200 AP => new best spot once you get the Tiny Bronco
    Mideel Area, grass: 180 AP => useless unless if you kill them way faster than the Sea Worm from the beach
    *Mideel Area, jungle* : 266 AP => new best spot once you get the Highwind
    Mideel Area, dirt: 161 AP => useless, except you might want Sources from Spiral
    Gelnika, northern room: 206 AP => **not** the best spot but more interesting stuff & challenge, once you get a submarine
    Gelnika, western corridor: 204 AP => easier than the northern room and paradoxically almost twice as much EXP
    Gelnika, flooded cargo bay: 172 AP => useless, except you might want stuff from Serpent
    *Northern Crater, ponds* : 922 AP (963 AP if your 3rd character has a mastered Pre-emptive) => The two screens with a pond have the same enemies with the same encounter rate, but the *screen on the left* has a higher battle frequency. It's the best spot.
    Northern Crater, Graveyard: 254 AP => not that bad compared to Mideel, interesting enemies
    Northern Crater, all other screens: 193 to 213 AP => useless
    *Scimitar vs Javelin*
    Yeah, Scimitar is advantageous to improve some specific Materias fast. On the other hand, Javelin is the equipment that gives the most AP in total, useful when you want to master all the Materias. To be precise:
    Scimitar => 2 slots × triple growth = you get 6 times the AP gain.
    Javelin => 5 slots × double growth = you get 10 times the AP gain.
    In other words, you get +66% AP replacing Scimitar by Javelin. Since I noticed that, I equip KotR on Apocalypse. xD
    In the same way, and in the long run, Wizard Bracelets are as efficient as Rune Armlets (8 × 1 vs 4 × 2).

    • @tasselhoff1293
      @tasselhoff1293 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I dont understand what you mean..how does the javelin give more ap? It has more slots so the ability to level more materia is there, i just dont understand how you think it gives 66% more ap..care to elaborate? From the movers u get 2400ap..2400x3= 7200ap, where as 2400x2 =4800...how is that 66% more then the scimitar?

    • @churboify
      @churboify 5 ปีที่แล้ว +14

      @@tasselhoff1293 its because the Javelin has more slots than the Scimitar.
      (AP × growth multiplier) x amount of slots
      Scimitar: (2400ap x 3)x2 = 14400
      Javelin: (2400ap x 2)x5 = 24000
      So for bulk mastering it's more efficient to use Javelin, but if you want specific materia mastered faster then use Scimitar.

      The total AP you gain over all is more. Not the AP for each individual Materia. If you have Materia you want to really focus on mastering, Scimitar. You have multiple Materia and aren't in as much of a rush., Javelin.

    • @Michael-hc2hp
      @Michael-hc2hp 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Roy Sunshine But you already have Cloud for the triple AP growth. Both Cloud and Cid are the only ones who can get more AP with their weapons than x8 which is what 4 Slots x Double Growth gets you or 8 Slots x Normal Growth. Cloud's Apocalypse gives you 3 Slots x Triple Growth which is x9 and Cid's Javelin which is 5 Slots x Double Drowth which is x10. Anyway I always just have Cloud, Tifa, and Cid so my materia farming is perfect as I just have Cloud and Cid with their x9 and x10 AP weapons and Tifa with the Powersoul, Curse Ring, and Slash-All to decimate those Movers and Magic Pots. However if I want specific things mastered quickly like KotR, Mime, Counter, Magic Counter, W-Item/Magic/Summon, and Bahamut ZERO, then I give Cid the Scimitar, it all matters on the situation. Like I want to get at least 3 materia of Independent and Support and 4 materia for Magic, Command, and Summons because I want 3 to have in my inventory and I also want the Master Materia. If I'm trying to get just a bunch of useless materia leveled up such as like Exit, Sense, Steal, Manipulate, and Gravity, then I'll give Cid the Javelin.

The battles themselves may take awhile, but they don't do much damage and the battles are basically automated because they inflict you with berserk, but if you're quick you may be able to cast a spell to wipe out everything before they can act.

    So, please help me here. I remember playing through FFVII as a kid, and I found a beach location fighting sea worms, but the SPECIAL thing about this area was that if you had a dualshock controller (or more importantly, a madcatz controller with a turbo button.) you could wrap a rubber band around the left stick to hold "down", and set turbo on the "O" button, and cloud would just run back and forth, back and forth on a beach. What this means is you could leave your PS1 running overnight and still be farming. But the IMPORTANT thing was that you needed to use some elemental materia to absorb the elemental attacks from the sea worm in order to heal yourself. So basically... you couldn't die. BUT, I can't find the exact place now. I don't remember getting 100% sea worm encounter rate (but it was very high), but I DO remember it was on a beach. Any help? I remember being able to do it relatively early in the game, either with the buggy or the bronco.I still have my old save... with at least 2 of every type of material maxed out, 99:59:59 save time, etc. But I've since moved on from that spot and I can't find it anymore. I also remember having to drive past the giant snake thing (not through the swamp, near it) to get to the place. (EDIT: Maybe I could have also equipped my characters with tetra elementals... I SEEM to remember doing that.)

    I can remember I had to boost up my toons by farming before i tried certain bosses. Arm grabber near sub, wall boss around temple of ancients, cosmo canyon cave area & dragon @ top of the cliff...
    Demanding pots for elixirs give huge ap which is boosted by double or triple ap - can remember getting all materia maxed out apart from KOTR but then putting it in Cids wep Javellin with MP Turbo max, with KOTR needing 150k ap. Emerald wep time for 50k ap x 3 for insta KOTR born.
    Oh - while ur doing those pots, occasionally orange bouncing balls things spawn instead. Morph them into protect rings - 1 each for insta manawall V Emerald.
    Usually I'd W-SUM KOTR+ MP turbo, then mime repeatedly til Emerald dies...
    For Ruby, kill off 2 toons apart from Cloud. KOTR 1star-MP Turbo, Master Summon 1-HP absorb & Master Summon 2-MP absorb & mime repeatedly till Ruby dies..have ribbon & elemental (absorbs)-fire for ruby flame. U will insta heal every time u KOTR after Ruby Ultimas...occasionally u will die if ultima & ruby ray combos but then have final attack-revive to bring u back...

You can put the Save Crystal just about anywhere in the Northern Cave, but there are places you want to avoid or else you'll cause a glitch that prevents you from leaving the area you put the crystal (meaning you'll never be able to leave the Northern Cave).

    Regarding the Scimitar, if your goal is to quickly level 1 or 2 specific materia, then yeah, use it. But if you're doing long grinding on many materia, his 4-slot 2x growth weapon is better. 3x for 2 materia is x6 overall AP. But 2x for 4 materia is x8 overall AP.

    4:39 I think I can healthily disagree, there is a tiny part of the island either on or near Mideel, that you can reach in disc one using the Tiny Bronco, that has green grass on what looks like a peninsula. Headhunters can spawn there in groups of FIVE giving 250 AP per successful fight (50 each). They're usually pretty easy to deal with too, if you have the mp for a summon or decently damaging L2 elemental All cast.
    The only downside is the other opponents that you may encounter that can be absolute bastards to deal with. I'm sure one of them can cast L2 Confu which, if unprepared for, is a bit nightmarish.

    Early game those worms on the beach were my go to. I found they went down easy if you had Vincent with his weapon you get in Calm. It has two slot that are linked so you can do Elemental Ice, which they worms are weak to, and Deathblow. The weapon has a 255% hit rate so even with the Deathblow accuracy drop you still hit the majority, if not all, of the time and it does massive damage. I set it up a rapid fire controller and had it run along the beach after first getting the little bronco and I was able to have it running while I slept and I didn't get a TPK.

    I would only recommend Cid's Triple growth if you want to very quickly level up a select few materia. If you want to level up a bunch of materia, any Double growth with 4 slots is better. This is because Cid's weapon rewards 2 slots at 3x growth, so 1 AP does the work of 6. For a 4 slot weapon at 2x growth, 1 AP does the work of 8, just spread out between more individual materia. Even an 8 slot Normal growth is better than Scimitar, so long as you want to level 7 or 8 materia on a single weapon. Cloud's Apocalypse is still recommended because for 3 slots at 3x growth, 1 AP does the work of 9.
    TL;DR
    Level a lot of materia: Use Apocalypse and either [two 4 slot Doubles], [one 8 slot Normal and a 4 slot Double], or [two 8 slot Normals].
    Level a few materia: Use Apocalypse, Scimitar, and whatever else fits your needs.

    It's probably worth mentioning a warning with regards to the Magic Pots in case people didn't realise (especially newer players) but you should never attack the pots prior to giving them an elixir because, aside from doing no damage to them, it causes them to steal from you (I can't remember if this happens anyway if you hang around too long without doing anything). The worst thing about it is that there is a chance that they will steal especially valuable pieces of equipment such as someone's unequipped Ultimate Weapon, which can be taken right back if you're fast enough to kill it but if it gets away it will leave you in an unfortunate position of having to reload the game since it will be gone for good otherwise.

    Beat the 3 dragon balls for 7200ap with triple growth Apocalypse sword near the end in the crater. It's the area where you have to go underwater for a few seconds after the party splits up. That room and the one right after that where you can run around in a full circle. Something I've remembered all these years for a while. I know there not dragon balls but always thought they looked a lot like them. When you attack them too it seems the camera gets all weird too. Your character moves to weird areas of the screen too. Almost like the monsters are bugged a bit.
    There of course a rare spawn and happen around 1/10 battles or so in those areas.

    U can get Heathunters allready spawning when you first have the tiny Tiny Bronco. Swim to one of the nearby islands of Mideel and walk on the grass there (its one of the tiny Islands near Mideel) and you should encounter Heathunters there. The downside is that there also spawns an really annoying Bird that confuses one of your chars and if it took enough damage its flies up and you cant hit it with meelee weapons. This is ususally my 2nd place to farm AP my first is Junon too and then later in the game i go to Mideel island diractly to eleminate the anyoning Bird spawn.

    When the game came out on PC for Steam, I went after all the achievements. I spent HOURS in the swamp room in North Crater. Every time I mastered all of one color class, I ran back up and got a master set from the huge materia. I thought the game kept track of what you'd mastered, but no. I had to have a mastered copy of everything in my inventory. So after I'd created two sets of everything, I had to make a third set just to get them all in my inventory. I was so sick of the game by that point.

    The Heavy tanks in Gongalga aren't a super terrible option to farm if you're also doing some early source farming. 45AP, 1300 gil, 340exp, and power sources if morphed.
    They only have 1600hp, so they die pretty quickly once you get your power high enough.
    Only real downside is that it's really only ever a half decent option and even then, only after the Temple of the ancients.
    If you max strength out for every character by the point in time that you can start farming it, you are looking at about 200 battles per character (approximately 1600 battles or 72,000ap).

    I'm still playing this game, I had it on PC first so I had cheat engines.. which was fun and all but I didn't even involve myself in most of the game... then I played on the Playstation.. Until I broke my game disc when it got caught in the system itself.. the center got stuck on the spinner.. Then I have it on Steam, I lost it after getting to the end.. so I had to restart... this time I rushed past most of the side quests such as the parade stuff and others.. but I've been farming sources ever since.. I beat the game, got Emerald beat then beat Ruby... I never knew the real secret to beating Ruby.. Paralyze him.. then spam Knights of the Round a few times and keep paralyzing him and luckily I learned to kill off 2 party members before the fight so he didn't eject them from the battle.. it was pretty much the only way I could get a Gold Chocobo.. I tried multiple times and just kept getting a green chocobo.. I'm trying for maxing all stats for everyone as well as mastering all materia.. just need Sneak Attack and the other you win from the Chocobo Races.. and I think I'll have them all and get the final achievement of Materia Overlord.. also thanks to all of these videos, I'm trying out so many things... Trying to get Vincent maxed out, he has nothing but counter attack materia... then I'll master tons of Knights of the Round and give them to Barrett and face Sephiroth several times with a different party each time..

    There’s some great break downs that explain why Mideel is the single best place to farm AP, despite the common belief that the north cave room with Magic Pots, Movers and Tonberry is better.
    With the right setup, one can average like 5-10 seconds per Mideel battle, and every encounter in the area is going to produce a good amount of AP. So even though the amount of AP earned per battle may be higher in the North Cave, the varied number of encounters, along with the more time spent in battle with these encounters, you can actually farm more AP faster in Mideel thanks to the far greater rate of encounters

    • @ErionAireTam
      @ErionAireTam 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The pound in the North Cave gives ~3.47 times the average AP per battle of Mideel jungle while you can still clear battles in 5-10 seconds with a good stuff.

      Best way in my opinion is the bridge to Corel/Mt.Corel
      Use HYPER on your Characters and fight BOMBER on the Corel bridge. When it explodes, it does big damage to your group and will rise your LIMITbar very fast. For the second technique of the LIMIT Break level you have to use the first technique about 8 times.
      Then you need the enemys Search Crown which appears in bigger groups on Mt. Corel.
      Use Magic (Matra) to kill all enemies at once, untill you reach the next level of LIMIT break.
      To get there, you have to kill between 40 and 200 enemies with that character.
      It took me about 2 hours to reach the second technique of the 3rd LIMIT break level from each character.
      Except Cait Sith (only 2 LIMIT levels) and Vincent (no second technique).

    • @diggadat4827
      @diggadat4827 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I tend to grind limit breaks early. I grind all the way thru Cloud and Aeris' LBs (except the level 4's of course) right near Aeris' house, on the screen with the robot arm on the way to Wall Market. Hell House and the little purple bug enemies. In particular, the bugs can come in a group of 4 which is awesome for getting the kill count for each LB that needs it. Hell House deals high damage in its broken form and charges LBs quickly. Use Aeris' house for free heals/MP restore. Then I do the same thing with Barret and Tifa after the plate falls. Then I grind out everyone else's LBs pretty much as soon as I get that character. Red XIII and Yuffie in the forest near Junon where you can find Yuffie. Vincent and Cid in Mt. Nibel. Cait Sith just wherever since he just needs the 40 kills and I never really use him beyond just unlocking his second LB.

    • @diggadat4827
      @diggadat4827 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you're talking mechanic-wise though, it's just the same two-step system for almost everyone. Use the first limit break in each set (1-1, 2-1, 3-1) a set number of times, which will get you the second in each set (1-2, 2-2, 3-2). Once the second LB in a set is unlocked, kill a set number of enemies to advance to the next tier. Only exceptions are Vincent and Cait Sith, who both just need kills and they don't require you to use a LB a certain number of times.

  • @TheXtrafresh

    3:45 those guys can be triggered on the very first visit to Junon. Killing them can be done by using Enemy Skill - Beta.
