MANY thanks for including is in this wonderful journey and the amazing progress this year. Stay safe.
I read several comments, all of which express my thoughts well. The night sky was exquisite, and the chickens were precious. Every decision you make encourages us all to, as you once said, "measure twice, and cut once". We need more good people to step up and bring balance and hope to the people of our beautiful Earth. I found you accidentally and have seen all the videos. Thank you so much for being a good example to so many.
Awww...She must have been terrified, especially hearing the dogs. She just went to ground and stayed hidden. Smart girl! She must have been so relieved to hear your voice, Martijn. This winter will be so different from last, with the first house sealed and the stove in. Love to see who shows up to help every week! Thank you for taking us above the clouds...Take care hon. See you next time
In a world of trouble as nowadays, Martin gives a weekly fixing point of calmess, peace and natural living reduced to that was is needed. Thank you, Martin!
I said it before in previous comments. This show is my church. I come here very Sunday. I also said that if this channel doesn't get some kind of award something is wrong. The fastest hour on You tube, bar none...the Internet, bar none. I am an too old to visit and help you Martijn, but if you ever turn your home into a B@B I want to stay. To see your vision. I'm glad you found the white hen. I refer to them as Hestia (white) Nyx (black) and Brigid (brown). You're under no obligation to do likewise. Lol It was 0° celsius this morning in Colorado. The Aspens have pretty much finished their color change. Winter is coming! Stay warm!
From Canada I wait impatiently every Sunday for your videos. You know exactly how to pace your story, I so admire your filmmaking skills. I just watched your Two Years on a Bike from Vancouver to Patagonia and have a whole new understanding and appreciation of your dedication and commitment when you decide to take on a project. I also am thankful that you are conscientious about safety. I worry about you. Thank you for taking the time to make these interesting videos. Hope to see you next week. 😄
I live in my own little world away from newspapers and radios and tv and only watch youtube and taped programmes which are few on TV. I love nature and plants and animals and it is so important to realise that things that are reported are not of our making and we can all just do what we can for our little space. Martijn does what he can for his and it is so good to see peaceable reportings. Glad the chicken was found and the masonry stove is so exciting. We have a very rainy day today which is subsiding soon but watching the stove made me make hot vegetable soup and put the heating on for a short while to air the house after all the rain. Still pretty mild in England but makes you appreciate home when the weather gives you rain and the need for shelter.
I so look forward each Sunday to your videos. I am brought to tears by the majesty of the mountains and your nature shots. Your impeccable detailing of every aspect of the cabin is so admirable. It is going to be so beautiful when you finish. It is with great hope that you are able to spend the winter in the cabin and be warm and comfortable. I am living vicariously there in the Italian Alps through you! I wish you knew how much love and admiration you inspire us each week!
About your white chicken, it could be intestinal worms. We have a chicken that was sluggish and we fed her raw pumpkin flesh with seeds and added apple cider vinegar (1 tablespoon per gallon of water) we think it helped and it certainly won't hurt. Good luck.
Just when I startet to worry your video came online, thank you very much, Sundays aren’t the same without your videos :) appreciate all your work you put in the videos, that’s amazing
Lovely night sky did I see shooting stars? 😊 seems you’re checking off the list before winter! Amazing to see your progress.Ive been watching since the first vid. Bravo to you!
I recently introduced my partner to this wonderful series, and as a result ended up watching many episodes for the second time. I was struck by, as with a good book, a second read revealed much that I had missed the first time around. For me, this reveals why this journey that Martijn is sharing with us is so good, that there are many layers to find.
Sunday is complete now. So happy to see White back to herself. You were so sweet to comfort her. Progress is amazing. You will be ready for Winter. Definitely needed the extra muscle for that stove.
You did not quit until you found the Lost sheep. (Or in your case, the lost chicken.) Dried Rosemary is good for them, an antioxidant, in fact most love to eat it. Sprinkle it into their feed. It has many medicinal qualities. Main thing is to help their liver stay clean, strong and without bad bacteria in it.
A beautiful week. I was thinking all the way through the video how your oven will be the heart of your home. Then I realised no, it’s you, you are the heart of this beautiful home. Congratulations Martijn and thank you for sharing.
31:05 Now that's a magnificent night sky!! That's the first time you shared this view I guess? Paused for a few minutes and still couldn't believe. You live in a place where nature never ceases to amaze, and you made it possible for people around the world to enjoy these wonders.
Those mountains in the background are amazing. Like decor, or matte painting. Makes it all look like a Disney Studio. 🤔 Good to see the white chicken well again.
What a satisfying post this was. I enjoyed seeing you snogging through the dirt, digging, and dust of the tanks, getting weary and a bit frustrated and the a week like this when two big things come together. As always superbly edited and shot. Visuals ranging from cosmic, to chicken dust baths, but so well paced and engaging. You deserve every subscriber and more.
I am retired and have so much free time and your channel helps me escape and enjoy what you are doing and the way you put the process to gether, thanks
FINALLY, finally I’m up to date. I heard about Martijn in the UK Guardian newspaper a few weeks ago and I’ve binged my way through them all. What fantastic videos they are I can’t wait until the next one appears
So Very Wonderful to catch up with #87, Great to see You having some help from Ireland, The Masonary Stove is looking Fantastic. It's going to make such an Improvement for the coming Winter... Glad to see the White chicken recuperated finally, the Battery Box is Fabulous, this coming Winter won't be such a problem with extra Electricity. Very Professional Martijn, Absolutely Brilliant to see it coming together so very Good, Thank You again, Can't wait to see You next week..
Thank you Martijn for taking the time to bring us along on your journey - amazing in so many ways. When I finish watching your weekly videos, I am overcome with such a joyful and positive feeling. All the best!
You got quite a bit done. The oven is going to be amazing, the little roof sealed, battery box built / insulated, steppingstones in place, and you put together yet another inspiring episode. I was so relieved when you found the white chicken, it seems she follows you around more closely than the others. Your house is steadily becoming a home. Thank you for taking us along.
Aah. Another relaxing moment in the Italian alps. Everything looks serene. I like the way you care for your chickens. My grandmother lived alone, and she, too, would talk to her chickens. This made me miss her. The pears on the table with autumn leaves look very natural. You have come a looong way with your projects. Thanks for taking us along. Watching from the warm island of Guam in the Pacific.
Zoveel moois wat je laat zien Martijn. Met veel passie en geduld maak je iets moois daar. En het zegt wel iets dat je zoveel volgers hebt door gewoon jezelf te zijn. Je bent een voorbeeld voor velen in deze roerige tijden
Your drone shots of the skies are amazing. So so many stars, and the beautiful mountains. Thank you so much for sharing them with us. I’m glad to see your white chicken seems better.👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼🥰🥰🥰🥰
As someone who is also fortunate to have a house made of stone (mine is over 900 years old, originally built by the moors during the time they occupied the Cadiz area in southern Spain), I am inspired by with your relationship to the walls (and the great roof), your steady work ethic and your patient and exact manner of carrying out the many tasks. These kind of buildings are built for the ages and the solid rock gives a real feeling of being nurtured and protected. I have been watching since the beginning and have learned a lot and also been inspired by many of your ideas - very grateful to have you sharing this experience with all of us!
What a busy video this week Martijn, you've achieved a lot. I've never seen a masonry stove, or heard of one, before, that looks like it will sure keep you nice and warm during your cold winters in the alps. The night sky was truly something spectacular to behold with millions of tiny stars twinkling, it was also good to see your white chicken is feeling a bit better and I love the way she is the one who follows you everywhere. Thank you for your videos each week, I really look forward to watching your progress and wait in anticipation for Sunday nights when a new video is released.
This episode is a big leap forward! Now that the masonry stove is installed permanently I'm excited to see the changes it will bring in the future episodes. Thank you for sharing the breath taking view of the sky full of stars.
You know, it is really nice and homely at the end of the working day, to load up a stove fire with natural hardwood and just sit down to watch the beautiful way the flames flick and roll inside the stove. I really miss my old house with the stove.
..another awesome episode... your filming is just so art- and skillful, e.g. the angle for the top of the stove shot... once all is done, you will know everything you live in so well... from the roofs and walls down to the water & sewage systems... where your energy comes from and how you can adjust or fix it, to natural resources of food: eggs, potatoes, mushrooms, fruits, herbs... I so love watching you exploring, creating and using all of this... you managed to interest me in the smallest and slightest of modalities, which I never paid attention to before... I savour every second of your videos... there's a lot of work of course, but you also stop to watch the mountains, the trees, and the skies at all day & night times... without talking much about it, you express so much respect and gratitude to natures gifts and the elements... this is the 87th sequence - I watched all of them, without missing a beat... what you create is the embodiment of 'home' in this world... thanks Martijn, for letting me/us be part of this magical adventure! 💖
I have to say I really enjoyed watching you and Ronan work together. He was like a dancer in response to your actions. I rarely see a man who is not only competent on his own but also so clued into what is happening that he anticipates and acts in harmony rather than alone. All your volunteers have been good to watch but this man was exceptional. You both have a surgeon's touch when it comes to the delicate parts of the operation. Thanks again for these moments of peace and sanity.
So glad you found “Daisy” that adorable chicken! I was so moved by the majesty of God’s creation above your place… such breathtaking views! So exciting to see your progress!!! Be Blessed Martijn ♥️ Sending you my prayers, as you work to get everything in place before winter!🙏🏻♥️ Angie☺️
Great progress this week, Martijn, thanks to your friends from Ireland. Hallelujah that White Chicken seems OK, and hallelujah for that magnificent night sky. 🙂
Best produced videos on TH-cam, without a doubt! Your videography techniques are the most pleasurable to watch hands down!! Thank you for all your hard work making them so enjoyable to watch!! 👍👍👍😎🇨🇱
I know so well the dread of looking for a missing chicken at night and the deep relief of finding her. My heart was in my throat. So glad you found her and that she was fine.
Chickens might be picking up a pathogen of some sorts from the area, hence the Barred Rock and now the white one. You might check with local livestock vet and see if you can keep some kind of medicine on hand that you can add to their water from time to time to prevent or cure this. I know that here chicken owners add apple cider vinegar to their birds water regularly, 1 Tablespoon per gallon. I don't want to loose her, she's my favorite.
It’s always sad when an episode comes to an end. Such an enjoyable watch. Not only can you learn off grid & building skills, you can more importantly watch how to live an ego free existence. Such a humble man making this game of life look easy. Thanks Martijn 🙏🏼
Masonry Stove is so grand. Cannot wait for the first fire. You have such wonderful friends who are always willing to help. Hope the white hen is ok? Thanks for the beautiful starry sky photo and the aerials. See you next week.
You must be quite relieved to see it all coming together. Your excellent videography/editing skills never fail to impress... stunning drone footage. but I have to admit, your 3 little hens have stolen my heart. Thank you again, Martijn 🙏
I don't know if this works for chickens as it works for dogs but cook up some white rice and give them that for a couple of days. It's like a small miracle for dogs. That masonry stove fascinates me. Can't wait to see it in action. I see Sparky is looking pretty good by the end of the show. Very happy about that.
Ah, your little chickie had so much to tell you about her nighttime adventure. So endearing. You have so many great friends and family who help in your creative endeavors. They will each have a sense of pride knowing that they put their own mark into your amazing home. Sending loving and peace-filled thoughts to everyone.
So delighted to see you had some Irish volunteers, if I was 30 years younger I would want to help. Not only are you restoring the buildings and minding thee chickens 👏 you are giving us viewer a sense that the world can be a better place. Well done Ronan and Deirdre I'm so proud of you.
Thank you so much for including pictures/videos of the night sky. It’s been 40 years since I’ve seen it look so clear and full of stars! There’s too much light here now where we live (just northwest of Kansas City Missouri, United States). I remember seeing all the stars and bands of the Milky Way with my naked eyes as a child. It’s so nice to know that you can see it still today. Best wishes always
Well done on all of this episode's ventures! Your Irish aides really 'stepped up to the plate" (I guess that's an American baseball figure of speech, now that I look at it 😏) and the results speak for themselves. Happy to see White Chicken clucking right along with her feathered friends---thanks to your finding her before a fox took her for dinner. I get a lot of satisfaction watching your artistic eye on the valley shots, nature scenes, and hearing the wind in the trees. Nice.
I feel like I'm there in the process with you. When you sat down at the stone picnic table, I was so excited that it was time to explain the sketch and stove project 🤣 One suggestion from someone who lives in snow and icy weather in winter. I would recommend a box to cover your external solar "switch". That way it's not covered in snow, or frozen when you need it.
Ive loved watching this progression from 2 years ago. As a hooked fan I get the feeling of when I watched a great tv show back in the 80's (Im 51) where you have the anticipation of what happens next week! No bingeing like these days. I want to.. I want to see what pizzas are made in that oven!! But love the journey mate. Thanks for the Monday morning pre work "episode" with my breakfast here in Australia. 👍
I really thought that the white chicken was hatching eggs in the grassy bush because I used to be a chicken babysitter, and there was one that sometimes did that. I'm glad she was doing better. It's great that your oven is already set up in its place. I can't wait to see it working. Have a great week, Martijn!✌️😉
Thankful for your stove to keep you from the cold on your mountaintop. In this world of woe and war, we all want to “flee as a bird to the mountain” for peace and beauty.
It always a pleasure watching your videos and to see how far you have gone, the cabin is looking really good thanks to you hard work! A big hug brother and continue with that amazing job.
Maybe you can get an old car tyre of like 225 wide. I use it instead of the ratched strap you use during chopping wood. Screw it on a wooden block of about 50 cm high. Works great, no more bending over ten times for each block of wood you want to split.
Dear Martin, we haven t'seen the air piping going directely from outside to the internal fire chamber for proper combustion. It foundamenal for preventing the depression of the room and the leaking of carbide monoxide and smoke. Please take care as we are worried about your safety! We know that because we are building our house as well. Ciao
Terrific Martijn. I've been waiting for the day you installed the stove. This video is certainly one of the best you've posted. Thank You. I am extremely happy for you and as always am looking forward to the next video. Stay well, happy and satisfied. Your friend and fan Richard from NJ in the USA.

Makes it all look like a Disney Studio. 🤔
Good to see the white chicken well again.
I agree with you wholeheartedly, though I suspect you meant to write slogging, not snogging!😆
@@pegsbarton6353snogging in the dirt might be some peoples cup of tea 😂
I am retired and have so much free time and your channel helps me escape and enjoy what you are doing and the way you put the process to gether, thanks
You have come so far with this project and genuinely just watching the progress is so inspiring
FINALLY, finally I’m up to date. I heard about Martijn in the UK Guardian newspaper a few weeks ago and I’ve binged my way through them all. What fantastic videos they are I can’t wait until the next one appears
Glad to see the Irish helping out 🇮🇪🇮🇪
.....is he wearing an All Black training shirt too!

@@daveburnham9111 Nope it's a Dublin GAA top!
One of the hardest working men, I've ever seen.. a joy to watch as always Martijn. Respect to you Sir!
The drone footage was spectacular! 👏
Thank you Martijn for taking the time to bring us along on your journey - amazing in so many ways. When I finish watching your weekly videos, I am overcome with such a joyful and positive feeling. All the best!
I have never saw wood chopped so it is all together. Awesome! I enjoyed the video.
So happy the little white chicken was OK. Your progress is amazing - you'll have a cozy and comfortable winter there, this year.
This......
Be Blessed Martijn ♥️
Sending you my prayers, as you work to get everything in place before winter!🙏🏻♥️
Angie☺️
Good name for her! She looks like a Daisy!
Love seeing your chickens. In my mind, I see them as Betty (White), Mel B(rown) and Cilla (Black).
You must be quite relieved to see it all coming together.
Your excellent videography/editing skills never fail to impress... stunning drone footage.
but I have to admit, your 3 little hens have stolen my heart. Thank you again, Martijn 🙏
Your commanding attention to detail is mesmerizing👏🏼
I don't know if this works for chickens as it works for dogs but cook up some white rice and give them that for a couple of days. It's like a small miracle for dogs. That masonry stove fascinates me. Can't wait to see it in action. I see Sparky is looking pretty good by the end of the show. Very happy about that.
They can eat rice, but only very small amounts.
Scrambled egg would be more nutritional for her 😊
Ah, your little chickie had so much to tell you about her nighttime adventure. So endearing. You have so many great friends and family who help in your creative endeavors. They will each have a sense of pride knowing that they put their own mark into your amazing home. Sending loving and peace-filled thoughts to everyone.
Hearing how the stove works is fascinating and as it ages it becomes sound and strong and efficient. Liking the new jeans, shirt and braces.
So delighted to see you had some Irish volunteers, if I was 30 years younger I would want to help. Not only are you restoring the buildings and minding thee chickens 👏 you are giving us viewer a sense that the world can be a better place. Well done Ronan and Deirdre I'm so proud of you.
Getting the masonry furnace in place feels like a significant moment. Congratulations
Nice.
Stove is going to keep you warm in the winter great video 🇬🇧😊
Was a joy to see you manage there again.
I feel like I'm there in the process with you. When you sat down at the stone picnic table, I was so excited that it was time to explain the sketch and stove project 🤣
One suggestion from someone who lives in snow and icy weather in winter.
I knew the chicken was ok when you said "Go play with your friends"! And she did.
Thank you for bringing something BEAUTIFUL to look at amongst all the tragedy that's been going on.
You work so hard and you are a perfectionist. Greetings from South Africa
Maybe you can get an old car tyre of like 225 wide. I use it instead of the ratched strap you use during chopping wood. Screw it on a wooden block of about 50 cm high. Works great, no more bending over ten times for each block of wood you want to split.
I love when you talk to the chickens and they talk back ❤
HE'S ALIVE! So good to see a video from you. I was just in your community page looking to see if you are ok and things were well.
Ciao
Notice page 17 of the Planning Guide of this stove. Maybe…..? 😮
Martijn, you have to learn to call to your chickens. Make the same noise they do, they will respond. ♥️
Just had a coffee put in front of me and your video pops up. My sunday is complete ❤😊
The best channel on youtube, massive learning curve, great work, great content, and a bonus with the three egg providers
Terrific Martijn. I've been waiting for the day you installed the stove. This video is certainly one of the best you've posted. Thank You. I am extremely happy for you and as always am looking forward to the next video. Stay well, happy and satisfied. Your friend and fan Richard from NJ in the USA.
