    Gosh that staircase is going to be stunning, based on your drawing! Can't wait to see you spend your first night in that room, with the fire going and the ambiance and flickering shadows on the magnificent stone walls.. Yes, his drawings are indeed stunning...but I was looking at the drawing, then looking at the shots of the actual wall and stove/stair area...looks like he may have been a little too optimistic of the width of the area in the drawing...looks like in practice, the stairs will have to be fairly steep, and only room for one of the firewood storage areas due to the room being so narrow...@@Theguys1

    This is what a polymath looks like everyone. A modern day artist, architect, builder, craftsman, philosopher, intellectual. This is what humanity looks like when governments, corporations and international banks are not part of the equation. The human being that is care taker of the earth and not thief. The human being that is pursuing life not retirement. The human being that is about relationships and kindness over wealth and pursuit of luxury. This is why the viewer is brought to peace...because this is how we should be living; simple human lives not as slaves to the whims and needs of tyrants and murder cults, but instead able to express our creativity and enjoy the work of our hands and the simple abundance it provides us.
    thanks Martijn, it's not your lifestyle that inspires me, it's your willingness to expose me to a life free of the fear of the cult-ural norms that turn us into slaves to the beast. Hope your channel survives for years to come and that you remain energetic to communicating your journey, no matter where it leads.

I can see you sitting there with the fire crackling and a light on while you are reading, with a winter storm raging outside and you are all warm and cozy. I hope you still make the videos even when the project with the house is finished and you are living the life of your dreams--and everything is not so difficult. What I like is you take time to be and enjoy the environment so it doesn’t matter how long the renovation takes as it is all part of your life. Also not as stressful as when you were in that storm in the desert and having to resort to alcohol to get through the night !!

    The stove looks great! You're going to be nice and cozy when it's cold outside this winter. Way different from that first winter when you had to build a cabin inside the cabin to keep from freezing! I'm glad to see the white chicken is okay. They're so funny and cute, the way they follow you around. And the noise they make when they see you come outside! Do you have names for them?

    I was watching one of your videos from august this week, and if you put them together, the transformation of the house and landscape in just a few weeks is astonishing! Your calm manner and filming style may trick us into thinking it goes quite slow, but that isn't the case at all!
    I was very curious how the stone facade was going to stay up, as the carton layer doesn't seem to give it a lot to hold on to. But I'm guessing that as it is quite a thick layer, it should be able to hold itself? The interstacked corners will probably help a lot there, to provide rigidity.

  • @miesde
    @miesde 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    Hi Martjin, you put the stones in the water. I understand why. But the stones are also very moist inside. Be very careful when heating up the fireplace. The water in the stones evaporates and the stones explode! You therefore only have to heat the fireplace a little several times so that the stones slowly dry.
    All the best, Mark

    Looking fantastic Martijn - the stove installation has been epic, I've lived in old Berlin apartments with massive stoves and they were beautifully constructed and tiled, but I never really understood the complexity of them as expanding and shrinking, hot and cold, living breathing systems, fantastic to see it constructed.

      That cardboard will insulate to much, and will impede a lot of heat reflecting into the room.
      That is not a good idea in my opinion. The gap could be constructed free hand. Just my thoughts preventing you of a mistake 😉

    At least then you have warm dry work place to crack on with. The detail youve put in shows quality.
