Praying for Emily. My son is around the same age had a dirt bike accident and landed on his head last year...struggled for months to recover with extreme headaches. He couldn't work during that time. Thankfully he's doing better now. Praying for her quick recovery. 🙏🏻

The brutal grind on the body from the kind of work Shawn James does is a lot more mileage on the body than fitness, and at his age it takes a lot out of him even though you may not see it on the edited videos. Everybody including him is human with limits.

I read through the comments and saw your replies to the same questions I had - yes to screening, yes to oven, no you don't have termites in CA (I'm SO jealous, lol) and the chainsaw noise I heard is your consultant marking trails. AWESOME! So much getting done. I'm happy to hear that Emily is healing - although it always takes too long. To Emily: Patience, love, patience. I firmly believe everything happens for a reason - figure out what the reason was for this and cultivate what it is you're supposed to learn. So.... it's now early July. Kitchen should be done soon. Think you'll get the bedroom and bath done in time for winter and so your lovely wife can join you? I look forward to the day we can 'see' her at the periphery of the camera, lol...

It's great to see you back at the cabin. It was getting too quiet. Love what you're doing to the kitchen extension. I'm just in awe of your skills and imagination. .While looking at the wide angle shot of your expanded home, it occurred to me that the front entrance seems to calls out for a grander entrance than just steps. Maybe hand rails or something that gives it more of a welcoming tone.

I sanded and polyurethaned my oak floors in the living room of my cottage at Standish, Sebago Lake, water front property. The floors were new in 1935 when the cottage was built.

Thanks for the video, it's great to get to see what you have in mind as your plan. Sorry to hear about your daughter and I hope she can 100% recover. People are only now starting to understand how much concussions can affect us. I had a major one at 13 and was able to recover thought I think I have had several smaller ones in the 43 years since. She has your genes in her so I hope she can make a full recovery, sometimes it just takes time. Thanks a lot for the video!

As I watch this video, I wonder how you come up with the design of the buildings you build. I’m glad Emily is doing better. I use Jackery’s also. Works great when I need it. Nice to see you Shawn.
My guess, knowing Shawn, he thinks of what he ( & especially in this house, his family) is going to need spacewise. Then looks at how to situate everything to get the sun, not just windows but solar panels, access to the water supply, the distance of the chimney to the trees, where he'd dig for pipes for the kitchen & bathroom, maybe the cellar if it requires drainage. All I can think of, lol. What's your guess?

Just really appreciate all you've inspired and taught. When I first began watching, I used your channel to decompress from a VERY stressful lifestyle. I own my own biz and am about to expand by opening another location. Now, we have purchased over 50 acres of land and I have renovated a small house that was located on a 3-acre tract and I am on the move again. I've stated this before and I'll state it again... You have created a vast and incredible library of learning/teaching videos ranging from forest gardening, construction, woodworking, leatherworking (is that a word?) harvesting, storing, cooking, pest control, animal harvesting and control, etc... It goes on and on and this lady refers to them AND suggests your channel to others. What a treasure. I remember in one of your posts, when you had the smaller cabin, you mentioned creating a place where others could come and stay and learn your technics, etc? Did I understand that correctly? Is that still a mission? I understand wanting to protect your family and maintain some privacy protection. I was just wondering if you were still interested in that or in seminars perhaps? My land is located in a very humid, loamy part of SC near low-country and is filled with deer, geese, duck, turkey, rabbit, squirrel, raccoon, possums, or Opossums for the educated...lol. Anyway, thanks for putting yourself out there. I have certainly been able to enrich my own life by your willingness to show us how it's done in a wholesome way without vulgar words! I have been watching you build structures for several years. It amazes me how you can build with wood directly on the dirt in Canada. If we did that in the southeastern part of the US the structure wouldn't last long. The termites would have a feast! I hope Emily feels better soon. Shawn, you are like a time machine. This is how my grandparents built their homestead a century ago in northern Wisconsin. A one room cabin, later adding on, a barn for about 10 dairy cows, 2 horses to bring in the hay, a huge garden and plenty of venison. Early on there was no electricity. All kerosene lanterns and a wood stove. Thank you for taking us back. Cheers..

I hope there’s room for a dining table and double pane windows. I have a south-facing sunroom and a favorite time is eating out there and watching it snow. Better than TV!

Thanks for the video, it's great to get to see what you have in mind as your plan. Sorry to hear about your daughter and I hope she can 100% recover. People are only now starting to understand how much concussions can affect us. I had a major one at 13 and was able to recover thought I think I have had several smaller ones in the 43 years since. She has your genes in her so I hope she can make a full recovery, sometimes it just takes time. Thanks a lot for the video!

As I watch this video, I wonder how you come up with the design of the buildings you build. I’m glad Emily is doing better. I use Jackery’s also. Works great when I need it. Nice to see you Shawn.
My guess, knowing Shawn, he thinks of what he ( & especially in this house, his family) is going to need spacewise. Then looks at how to situate everything to get the sun, not just windows but solar panels, access to the water supply, the distance of the chimney to the trees, where he'd dig for pipes for the kitchen & bathroom, maybe the cellar if it requires drainage.
All I can think of, lol. What's your guess?

Just really appreciate all you've inspired and taught. When I first began watching, I used your channel to decompress from a VERY stressful lifestyle. I own my own biz and am about to expand by opening another location. Now, we have purchased over 50 acres of land and I have renovated a small house that was located on a 3-acre tract and I am on the move again. I've stated this before and I'll state it again... You have created a vast and incredible library of learning/teaching videos ranging from forest gardening, construction, woodworking, leatherworking (is that a word?) harvesting, storing, cooking, pest control, animal harvesting and control, etc... It goes on and on and this lady refers to them AND suggests your channel to others. What a treasure. I remember in one of your posts, when you had the smaller cabin, you mentioned creating a place where others could come and stay and learn your technics, etc? Did I understand that correctly? Is that still a mission? I understand wanting to protect your family and maintain some privacy protection. I was just wondering if you were still interested in that or in seminars perhaps? My land is located in a very humid, loamy part of SC near low-country and is filled with deer, geese, duck, turkey, rabbit, squirrel, raccoon, possums, or Opossums for the educated...lol. Anyway, thanks for putting yourself out there. I have certainly been able to enrich my own life by your willingness to show us how it's done in a wholesome way without vulgar words! I have been watching you build structures for several years. It amazes me how you can build with wood directly on the dirt in Canada. If we did that in the southeastern part of the US the structure wouldn't last long. The termites would have a feast! I hope Emily feels better soon. Thanks for showing the world your beautiful country.

Shawn, you are like a time machine. This is how my grandparents built their homestead a century ago in northern Wisconsin. A one room cabin, later adding on, a barn for about 10 dairy cows, 2 horses to bring in the hay, a huge garden and plenty of venison. Early on there was no electricity. All kerosene lanterns and a wood stove. Thank you for taking us back. Cheers..
