these things should be brought in bulk and reassembled/modified to become a usable machine for another few years, perfect for youngsters starting out 3d programs and edits and it will play almost anything still even if slower and lower
These gpus are cut down to not have onboard video output and pcie ver.1.1, on a chip firmware level, therefore impossible to flash or mod in any way. Even when put on a regular gpu board, they act the same. Some p106 p104 p102 have x16 lanes active(still ver.1) so they dont bottleneck that hard, practically its a thunderbolt 3 connection speed(but those depend on the board, if the respective smds are soldered on

I own a few of these , you can bios flash it to unlock the memory limit as it actually does have 11gb . It's limited in pcie speed because the capacitors for the extra lanes were never added to the board. If you make those changes you have a 1080ti but with current prices id just buy something else .
Yep, if this card utilize anything faster than just x1 (x4 for example), performance would've been so much better. And as you said, there are many better options if you want to only game.
a question that arose to me is the following, to anyone who has tested this setup already: won't the max screen resolution be capped by the max resolution supported by the integrated graphics? if so, in my case I have intel graphics 4600, that supports a max of 1024 x 768, not a big deal for playing videogames.
Nice video, i have an CMP 30HX gigabyte, it works fine in my pc, i am wondering if it is possible to flash the gtx 1660 super bios on this, they are practically the same GPU
I doubt you can be able to flash a different gpu bios onto this and even if it was successful there will be no changes in performance. Maybe that may grant you access to more games or something due to driver checking but it's not worth doing.
@@skewbtf2 No, those pcie lanes were cut off on the hardware level, no bios flashing can "enable" extra lanes. But it is possible to increase if you are willing to tweak it on the hardware level.
Solder the caps that aren't present near the pci port ? I'll try cuz i just bought one p102-100 😂 according to some other yt videos, this should boost this + 10gb vram bios should extremally boost this card
I already tried it, the card boots up just fine but it's not actually 10gb, when a game is using more than 5gb of vram it would slow down dramatically or crash. The card I have don't have 10gb on the hardware level.
I guess I titled that wrong, it's similar to the 1080ti because of the chip (core) itself. And as I stated in the video it has been cut down too much, look at the pcie lanes/speed.
i really want to buy this for an upgrade from the r9 390 for cheap (i find this p102-100 card for $65) i wonder if it is faster also there is a way to use this for gaming -> th-cam.com/video/udYeKK7f7Ao/w-d-xo.html but there might be a way to flash the 1080ti bios to it plus this gpu has 440 gb/s bandwith which is better than the 390's 380
Flashing a 1080ti won't change it to a gaming card, most of its restrictions is locked down or downgraded on a hardware level, so even if the flash was miraculously successful you won't get any performance improvement out of it. You can find some decent gpus like the rx 5700xt for under $150 on ebay. Though that card is only 2x faster according to techpowerup (200%)

Ive got similars results with p104-100 because it runs at pciex4 , but p106-100 is pretty decent for gaming.
