You can enable test signing by just pressing shift when clicking restart, going to troubleshoot, advanced options, then startup settings. It doesn’t even require a secure boot change
True, but that's only for that boot. You need to set it in the BCD if you want to keep using the unsigned driver, unless something has changed since the last time I've messed with unsigned drivers - AY
This. Way too many reboots just to get test signing set. EDIT: didn't fiddle with it on new MOBOs yet and not sure how it depends on BIOS/OS version. Required only changing one setting all the times I needed it set (4 or 5 PCs so far).
@@LinusTechTips I do what they said for installing some usb drivers I use for phone stuff but I never have to do that stuff again and I still can use the unsigned driver just fine lol

Maybe windows update just kept nuking the driver you installed as soon as you disabled it, or maybe I just have a special driver that tricks windows idk.
Man, if only NVIDIA released this as an actual update instead of trashing all of those GPUs. But who the hell cares about the environment, or recycling?
Yeah, that seems to be a common theme nowadays. :/ I recently worked at a sort of drift store in Finland, where many of the decommissioned computers and peripherals from different public institutions and buildings of the area got delivered. They were used in schools and hospitals for a few years after which they were recycled and sent to us for free. In our warehouse, we had so many keyboards and mice (most still working) that we could sell them for 2 euros, yet still we were drowning in them. Surely, we didn't have a shortage of HP SFF PC:s with core2 duos and earlier-gen i3:s either. In the middle of all that, I once thought: If a thrift store/recycling centre in some small city in Northern Europe has so many functional keyboards just lying around, how many are there in some warehouse in China?
And who at Nvidia cares about their bottom line, right? I'm sure the execs are so excited about undercutting their sales to help Chinese bitminers to resell their cards.
@@lesslighter yes of course, I meant in general, there's a lot of functioning tech being thrown away as junk all around the world. And many people (especially the elderly and the uninformed) are buying new PCs or just needlessly powerful machines for basically just web-browsing and e-mail. I'm sure someone somewhere could use that older stuff too for something. I just wish we could somehow get over the quantity over quality mentality and the public institutions etc. could get the devices checked and/or repaired instead of just buying new ones, at least sometimes.

or poor people looking for budget gaming options?
