I saw a 70 year old Caucasian woman with a skin of a 20 year old. She has been vegetarian from the age of 16 and Vegan from 19. Meat eating really ages skin.
Eating meat and other non nutritious foods shortens the telomeres. Meaning the shorter your telomeres are, the shorter your life is. So ageing of any part of the body is accelerated with those foods, such as ageing of the organs etc. Eating a plant exclusive diet and exercising lengthens the telomeres. So even people who are on a bad diet can actually lengthen their lives by changing their diet and lifestyle which lengthens their telomeres.
Thanks for sharing this. The mango studies got through to me, I hope. I enjoy sweet foods so 1/2 cup helped. 1&1/2 cups did not. Got it. I’ll try harder to eat more veggies and keep fruits to less copious amounts.
Likely not because "fruit" - other fruits: zucchini other squash cucumber bell peppers orher peppers eggplant avocado okra etc It's likely for other reasons, like sugar concentration.
Hmm. I am not sure about this. At almost sixty eight I have plenty of wrinkles and I think being slim and having a small face hasn't helped. The women I know who are larger seem to have fewer lines on their faces. One thing I have noticed is that I still have full eyebrows and eyelashes whereas other women my age seem to have lost theirs. My hair is also thicker than most and I have fewer strands of grey. I wonder if all this is due to an efficient blood flow thanks to a wfpb diet. I understand that science supports this theory because losing hair on the lower legs can be attributed to poor circulation in diabetes patients. Thanks for another great video and sending best wishes from the UK.
One of the biggest factors in youthful-looking skin is the amount of sun exposure a person has had. The sun will give you just as many wrinkles as a bad diet.
@@susanbarbella3477 nope. You can change it all with diet and lifestyle (lifestyle being not going in the sun as well as other factors, but most people have already got too much sun damage and its not reversible. I've always hated the sun so have never intentionally sat in it. I look 15 years younger than my 53 years.
To say that fish helps with skin wrinkles is so general. What kind of fish were the subjects being fed? Those high in fats and omega 3s or ones higher in protein.
I'm a vegan, but I do notice fruitarians or people who choose to eat almost exclusively fruits aged rapidly. They have dry, wrinkled skin far too early in life. With that said, they also tend to live very active outdoor lives. A lot of sunlight exposure will impact the skin so it's hard to tell if the diet is a major factor. I personally think these fruit heavy diets are not ideal. People eating well-rounded vegan diets with grains, vegetables, beans, soy etc look way better with age.
Do you know any humans who are algivores or detritivores? Do you know any spiders that are herbivores or springtails that are carnivores? Do you know any humans that are omnivores?
Just be aware that it is common knowledge that fruitarians are fruitarians only because they have an addiction to sugar and only eat sweet things. Fruitarians are not healthy people who will live to 100 because they will be malnourished.
@@craigsmith6026 No, quite the opposite, frozen fruits and vegetables are very good and nutritious because they are often more ripe than fresh ones because they are frozen right after being picked ripe but some fruits dont like to be frozen like berries for exemple but mangoes are delicious, better than the ones sent by boat already. I just started Ozempic for type 2 diabetes and weight loss (primarily for diabetes) and I’m worried about “Ozempic face” and other side effects. I’m already eating very healthy, so hopefully that will help.
Start low, go slow. "Ozempic face" is likely just a result of rapid weight loss. There's a 4-week titration schedule up to 2.4 mg for weight loss dosing, but it's not a must and can be stretched to 8 weeks (usually to deal with adverse effects). You should be fine since T2DM dosing is typically up to 1 mg; however, if you do go higher than 1 mg to target greater weight loss, then you may consider also going much slower.
Isn't it the case that many people gain weight again when they stop taking the medication? It can't be the point of taking it all your life. I had pre-diabetes, now cook according to Dr. Greger's cookbook and my values have become top, I also go to restaurants but only eat very low-fat dishes there, preferably Thai, Vietnamese or other Asian restaurants. If I really have quit my job, I fast for 24 hours, eat 400 g of vegetables with soy sauce at lunchtime and start eating again the next day at lunchtime.
I was on Trulicity, insulin, glimepiride and metformin and was obese. I read How Not to Die, went WFPB, low oil. Exercise 45 minutes a day and followed the Daily Dozen. I lost more weight than I care to admit, dropped all my meds besides Metformin and my a1c went down over 3 points. I'm not saying don't take it-controlling blood sugar by any means is primary to prevent damage, but according to my doctor I was eating healthy and everything was getting worse. It wasn't until I went fully WFPB that things really turned around. Just my experience but perhaps you can avoid the serious side effects. Any weight loss will show in your face but balanced against the dangers of obesity and T2D, it's a secondary concern.
@@PlantbasedSilvi I remember a Greger video where he mentioned eating a cup of blueberries with a fatty meal to counter the potential damage from the bad fat.
I would love to know if dried mango has the same affect as fresh. I can get dried, organic mango in bulk for a great price, but the same fresh would be prohibitively expensive. 😓
Flax seed is estrogenic. That mechanism of action is known. I have this problem with statistics: food responses vary, and one of the ways they vary is in response to lectins. Lectins are immune response provoking by blood type. I’m blood type B which is much less common than types O or A. Unless the study sorts by blood type, the advice may be worse than useless: it could be harmful. Foods that benefit others may cause me inflammation. Type A doesn’t digest red meat very well for a different reason: stomach acid timing. Humans are unusual in that their blood type antigens are adjacent to their digestive and immune systems on the genome, and this enabled new mutations/adaptations to foods based on generations of cultural and environmental influences.
I keep wrinkle free with liver at least once a week, butter, fatty meat and fish, eggs and full fat cheese. I eat hardly any vegetables or fruit. I use a red light daily and when I'm outdoors the sun I wear a hat, but I rarely use sunscreens. I'm 54.

A lot of vegans do a lot of outdoor exercise, and get a lot of sun damage. Meat eaters are not interested in their health, or are in the gym, not in the sun. Easy explanation for you.
vegetables and fruits makes sense, and saturated fat causing inflammation also makes sense. but i cant help believe that good quality meat in moderation might support healthy collagen in body?
Your digestive system breaks down all proteins to their basic amino acids. So the type and source of protein doesn't matter. So with that, it's exponentially healthier to get your proteins from legumes and grains than animals. Animal products are carcinogenic, fatty, inflammatory and acidifying. I say all this as a flexitarian. I love cheese and meat too much to get rid of them entirely. But these days I think of them like dessert. A treat in moderation, and not for daily consumption. I do meat and/or cheese and/or yogurt once or twice a week, eggs and other dairy maybe once a month. There's plenty of other delicious food that's simply healthier.
