  • I analyse Kat Held from Below Deck to show that her actions are consistent with narcissism.

The fact that she never sees a problem with any of her actions is just so telling of her issues

Very true. It's one of the most frustrating things about narcissists in my opinion.

I'm so hoping Kat has seen this video. Also, she doesnt strike me as very bright, I wonder if she even know's that she's a textbook narcissist.

I very much doubt she'll ever understand that she's a narcissist

Been on two yachts with Ben. He is quirky but a perfectionist. He has things to do and JR High level battles are NOT on his list.

I have seen all the red flags flashing so bright earlier in the season. She’s a bully, selfish and arrogant but that’s not all, she’s also mean and unapologetic of all her bad behaviors.

As a Dr i can safely say that Kat is abusing her anti-anxiety medication (probably xanax). When she was on the boat and everyone thought she was drinking.... i knew when she turned her cabin camera away from what she was doing that she probably took 2-3 of her Xanax bars. While everyone thought shed been drinking she was actually high on Xanax. For those of you who dont know, xanax binds to the exact same receptor that alcohol binds to. So it can mimic being drunk. I felt sorry for Adrienne because i could see how hard she was trying to make things better but the 2 girls under her should both have been fired. Kats behavior gets so out of control because she combines the xanax with alcohol WHICH THE XANAX GUIDELINES STRICTLY PROHIBITS!!! She definitely has an alcohol problem exacerbated by abusing xanax. Most people who take xanax dont really need it. Its usually an excuse to deal with stress....Some have real panic attacks ...but not every single day. The drug is very highly abused and over prescribed. It definitely should not be taken on a boat!!!! Adrienne, im sorry they misunderstood you. You have a great work ethic. They created the problem with you, obviously because they have an authority problem. Dont feel bad!!! The other girl is as smug as they come. At least from what i saw

I would have reported the incident to the captain. Why this went unchecked I can’t imagine. Kat overall behavior victim is sickening. I don’t blame them for leaving a bad tip.that Kate went along with this is disgusting unprofessional. No supervisor should be neutral. That others went along with this is disgusting.

I don't like Adrienne and those charter guests at all. I would take kat. Adrienne actually worked in getting this show put on tv. She lost it when she was replaced with kate. She weasled her way in with those guests. It was shady that the guests didn't tell her Adrienne would be there. It was like a screw you.

  • @bcn7226

Interesting video essay. I wonder what makes you say that Adrienne is a narcissist?

    • @thenarcissistwatcher
      @thenarcissistwatcher  ปีที่แล้ว +4

Adrienne shows plenty of red flags in just the short clip of here:
      - Telling a nasty story she heard about Kat to the charter guests shows a lack of empathy, smearing and indirect assertion of control, boundary transgression, two-facedness (haughtiness).
      - In the argument, she is extremely manipulative: feigned deafness at first, provocation (e.g. smiling while admitting to spreading the rumour and then giving a fake and sarcastic apology), dismissiveness (which also shows haughtiness), deflection and attempted blame shifting by asking Kat if the rumour is true, triangulation and present silent treatment (turning to the charter guest to smear Kat mid-conversation), false contrition, bringing up the past, and insult.
Although this is a good indication, you can't determine if somebody is a narcissist from a single interaction because they may have been having a bad day, or have been drunk, etc.
However, Adrienne's behavior throughout Season 1 of Below Deck and her behavior off-screen paint a strong and consistent image. For example, when she was Chief Stewardess in Season 1, not taking the side of Kat (her stewardess) when a third party eye witness told Adrienne that Kat had been sexually harassed by a charter guest. This shows a lack of empathy, and a lack of accountability. Or taking the side of well-known bullies on later seasons of the show.

@@thenarcissistwatcher I agree that Adrienne's behaviour on the episode you've mentioned is very narcissistic. As for her behaviour on season 1, I am not sure if I can agree. To me she seemed overwhelmed rather than narcissistic to me.
In any case, thank you very much for your lengthy reply, appreciate it!

@@bcn7226 I have no more respect for Adrian than I do for Kat. I would never trust anyone who told me something that they heard was a rumor, because you are destroying that person‘s character for something that you don’t even know is true. I find that abhorrent. It’s nothing but gossip. Disgusting behavior from Adrian. 😡

I like Kat but the way she treated Amy was ridiculous. Like we saw you taking your clothes off and jumping ben. I don't know why hooking up with Amy's boyfriend was such a big deal. If Amy wanted to put it on camera she easily could have. Kat was horrible to her.
