I got chills when I saw this scene. I absolutely love when Emma gets intense like this. It's rare, but it's always a delight to see. JMO is a superb actress.
I love the line Rumple says “It’s the man I am.” That’s the whole point of the episode, being the person you really are. Hook is at his core a good person, and that persona shown through and he sacrificed himself to protect the people he loves, while Rumple is someone who would do anything to get his power and immortality back because, without that, he goes back to the man he was before he became the Dark One, which was the village coward, and he’d do absolutely anything to make sure he NEVER goes back to that. It’s bad that he basically made Hook’s sacrifice pointless, but it’s perfectly in line with his character, because honestly, after dying and coming back to life just to be the slave of Zelena and losing his son in the process, I don’t understand how people can’t understand why he wouldn’t revert, even though he did sacrifice himself in season 3, it was mostly for Bae and Belle, not for the good of everyone.
Although I am sad for Belle, Rumple needs to be the Dark One; it's what makes this show tick. Hook has to be good, Emma has to be good, and Rumple has to be bad. Poor Belle, though.
AMEN! TOTALLY AGREE. Along side Merlin, Rumple is the most powerful sorcerer in all the realms and has the most knowledge of magic. Now that he has ALL the Dark One's powers inside him, he is truly the most powerful sorcerer/magic user in all the realms and they will need that kind of massive god-like power to take on Hades and the Underworld.
Okay, so I think we all kind of knew how this whole Hook being the Dark One would end... sacrifice D: But Rumple? He's unpredictable... most of the time (not when he's good!)
I've always felt a bit conflicted about this scene tbh. This is Rumple at his best, but also at his worst. He's an amazing villain and the way he always thinks ahead, proving he's the smartest and the one most suited to be Dark One, is such a treat to watch. Then again, it's kind of infuriating how they always throw his character development out of the window. If they didn't have those few episodes in which 'Emma turned him into a hero' it would have been fine. Honestly, this show had no clue about what side they wanted Rumple to be on.
I love Robert Carlyle, he can always make Rumple work, but my god did this show completely fuck him over so many times. It just got lazy after a while.
It was explained that this was Rumple's struggle against the dagger's corruption. It exacerbates one's worst qualities, the fact that Rumple wasn't consistently a villain only shows how much of a good man he is at heart.

Every time they do the “I’ll tell Belle if you don’t this” kinda makes me think that they’re not really her friend. They’re kinda using her to get what they need. If they were really her friend they would go straight to her and tell her

The "Don't test Me!" Gets me. Love how badass Emma is. Love that she got Killian back and that they are happily married and have a daughter now. As for Rumple..very mixed feelings.

I'm not a fan of Belle, but I feel soo bad for her that she gets reduced to a bargaining chip here. Emma doesn't even consider that Belle should know that Rumple betrayed her just because she deserves to know.
To be fair, Emma was in misery because she just lost Hook. She's hellbent on getting him back. I don't think we can expect her to think for any relationship other than her own at that moment.

That's what she deserved. Constantly torturing Rumple by leading him on and just when he passes her test, she says no over and over, just to run back. He's the dark one, always will be, she just pushed him ever further over the edge with her games.
It’s funny when I first saw this on the one hand I was surprised they went in this direction but not at all surprised he managed to outsmart and manipulate everyone again, rumple was most of the reason I watched the show
No one see's this from Rumples point of view. He lost his son and even being good, Belle left him and he made sure he saved her. Then left with nothing Emma by chance gave him the opportunity of getting one of his loves back, POWER.

Carol Soto not anymore. Rumpelstiltskin has the power of EVERY DARK ONE THAT HAS EVER LIVED. That includes Nimue's powers, Dark One Hook's powers (that was taken from Merlin), and Dark Swan Emma's powers...So I wud say that he could demolish all three of them without much thought. Rumpelstiltskin as the Original standard Dark One was equal in raw power to Merlin. He was stated many times to have been the most powerful sorcerer in all the realms.
Merlin was actually stronger than the Dark Ones, he was just tricked by Nimue when he was trapped in the tree. But now, Rumple is stronger than them all. I actually wonder if he can use the Dark Curse without needing a heart now, or if the thing he loves most is his own heart, that'd be something.
what I love about this is last season hook threatens to tell belle and for that he must die. Emma threatens to tell her and fine I'll help you. I love their relationship.
They blackmail him to do what they want, even though he doesn't owe them anything. It is very wrong. And they do so by using their "friend" (Belle). Hook never became a good person, worse he changed Emma into the worst version of herself. Look how sick she look the rest of the series.

This is the scene that destroyed Rumple's character in my eyes. What made Rumple interesting was that he was HUMAN. He did everything he did because he thought it was the right thing to do. He spent 300 years not being a hedonist, but hunting for Baelfire. Season 4 was a little iffy, but he did say that he was trying to secure himself a happy ending the only way he knew, which makes sense in a twisted sort of way. But him intentionally embracing evil goes against everything the previous seasons(and the first half of this one) built up to. Plus, it makes his relationship with Belle just look ridiculous. Is that supposed to be our big bad? The guy chasing after his whiny wife all the time? Is OUAT a fantasy sitcom? "Woops, there they go down the portal again."
For me, it's the exact opposite. Rumplestilskin was never a good man. Was he human? Did he love his son? Does he love Belle, and, to an extent, Henry? The answer is yes, to all of those questions. But just as he loves them, he loves power. He loves being in control. He loves people owning him.As he said later to Belle: "I love this Dagger. And I also love you".He's never going to be hero. It's not the man he is.
Nicolas Barrera That's the baloney the writers came up with in season 4. He sacrificed his life for them in 3x11. He offered the dagger to August when he thought it was Bae, even planning to get rid of the magic. He described as a crutch, nothing more and nothing less. I agree that he loves power, but not to THAT extent. Rumple wouldn't take the Darkness back once he got Belle and pulled Excalibur out of the stone because he proved to himself that he's not a coward, which is what the power always substituted for. I've stopped taking this show seriously. It's probably all Henry's fanfiction, since he's the Author(the s5 finale simply has no other explanation).
I agree with Nicolas. The fact is Rumple was never a good man. Just because you are a coward doesn't mean you can't have a good heart. Problem is Rumple never really had a good heart. And sure Rumple did sacrifice his life, BUT that was never really the issue. The issue was his power, and he is yet to actually give that up for anyone. I mean he has said he would, but I've never seen him actually follow through. And I am not sure how pulling the sword from the stone gave him a chance to be a dark one again.
Birdie Wolf He didn't give up the power early on simply because he didn't understand the need to. It was never about wanting more power and wanting to dominate etc. etc., magic was simply something that let him do whatever he wanted. He was a regular guy and any regular guy would love to chill out with ultimate power. Besides, what was he going to do anyway? Go hang around with Neal in New York? He can only really lose the power if he dies, which is exactly what did happen - voluntarily - in 3x11. Throughout seasons 1-3, Rumple's only issue was temptation, which is a character flaw, not evil. In seasons 4-5, it became active ambition without any real justification. As for the sword in the stone, don't even bother to question it, they're just making it up as they go along.
DarthRushy I never said he was evil. I just don't believe he was a good person. He has really always done what he has to do in order to get what he wants even if that means hurting people. The only time I can really say the writers lost track of that was season 4a. When he was trying to rid himself of the dagger's influence. Not to mention he lied to Belle about the dagger. She offered it back to him twice, said she can keep it, then proceeded to lie. That was ridiculous. And you said it was an issue of temptation, then how come he just didn't fall victim to the temptation yet again in season 5? Unless you want to explain your previous sword in the stone comment. Because I didn't see that scene as a chance for him to get his power back, but you did. I am just wondering where you saw that opportunity. So excluding the issue of the sword in the stone, when Emma came to him about the sword that was his first real temptation use magic again, and he took it. Right now, Rumple is just no longer hiding the dark part of himself. I for one am interested to see how Rumple will fit in once he gets Belle out of the sleeping curse. He is more powerful than ever, and he is finally being honest with his wife. He is obviously not on the side of good, but I don't think he is on the side of evil either. I can see him sort of being a neutral force for both sides. Like he will throw his support at anything that benefits him. And I think we will have to agree to disagree on what happened on 3x11. Because I don't believe him dying means he gave up magic/power. He gave up his life. If a drug addict gave up their life to save someone from a burning car, does not mean they gave up the drugs.
Yes she is different, but I don't like it. When Neal died, a part of her died as well. She threw herself into Hook's arms and became dependent of him. She completely lost herself, became selfish and an hypocrite, became just like her parents and believes to be better than others. Doesn't take time to understand the pain of others, use them as tools to further her own goals and completely ignores her son. She definitely doesn't act like a Savior anymore.

He ressurected Rumple just because he thought his reasons to use the dark one were more important than honor his sacrifice. Emma was never a ultimate fogiving person and Neal was never better than the charmings. Emma changed by all the things she went through. Stop putting her pain and experiences resumed in relationship stuff. Being with Neal or any men at all is NOT what makes Emma, Emma. Being better or worse is consequence of all her relations and experiences together. Neal is not more important good either bad influence in her personallity than Henry, Regina, Snow even Hook. And being in love with someone doesn't make you worse either. Emma has every right to be in a relationship without people assigning her action or personallity to the men she's with. Also love someone doesn't make you depend of them, Emma is not depent of anyone.
Well, I suppose once Belle rejected him, he had nothing to live for. Being a hero didn't really do anything for him except pull out Excalibur. No happy ending for him, his son's still dead and Belle had pretty much left him. Honestly, I think Belle coming back wasn't in Rumple's plan. He knew either Hook or Emma was going to use Excalibur to destroy the darkness, and he knew no one was going to be taken down into the Underworld, so he knew he was going to survive all along. What would come after that? The same plan as before and removing himself from the Dagger's control so he can leave Storybrooke? And then what? Somehow find Belle?
I wouldn't say it necessarily pushed him, but it did put him in a compromising position. It's Rumple's responsibility to choose to remain good, not Belle's, and that includes staying good even when bad things happen, like being dumped.
No he did not. He took advantage of the situation. But whether or not he took his Power back wouldn't have changed anything. Hook was about to send them all to the Underworld. And whether or not he chose to own up to his mistake (which is different from being a hero. Hook never was a hero.) He would have still died. Whether it was Emma or Hook who was stabbed, whether or not the Darkness was destroyed or transferred back to Rumple, Hook would still have died. Hook became a Dark One after being cut by Excalibur. Onxe the Darkness was gone, his injury would reipen and kill him anyway. Rumole didn't even betrayed Belle. She had already left him, meaning tha he didn't owe her anything when he chose to retake the Darkness. Therefore Rumple double crossed no one.

You can use euphemisms like "took advantage of the situation" to describe his betrayal of everyone. Still, that doesn't change the fact that it remains backstabbing. It certainly would have changed something if he had not taken back his power. What would it have changed? It would have been destroyed and would not have been able to do any more damage. THE DARKNESS is the power that wanted to send them all to the underworld, Hook was just their puppet. He didn't just admit his mistake, he saved them all. And he sacrificed himself so that the darkness would be destroyed for good. BUT NO! Rumplestiltskin saves the darkness from destruction and risks something like this happening again. HE HAS DOUBLE CROSSSED EVERYONE HERE! EVERYONE!
This pissed me off beyond belief! Rumple had potential to finally officially start over and become a better man! All that potential for when he pulled Excalibur and when he became brave enough to save Belle from Merida in bear form without being the dark one, GONE!
He's better as the dark one. He's more protective of Belle(at any cost :) ) I'd rather love the dark one than a coward any day. Belle should stop choosing emma and the crew over Rumple. When it was time to save him they were hesitant. They put him last. Hook is worse

They choose the easy path and hurt everybody else in the process, even innocent people that had nothing to do with their lack of courage. We got some good old season one here (but with more character development). Emma's back in her red leather jacket, blond waves are back, and rumple is the dark one . Not sure how to feel about this but I missed our strong, slightly stubborn savior this past season.
Okay here we go Season 1-2: He may have been evil but he was amusing an funny!!! Plus he tried to be good for his son Season 3: I when he turned almost completly good with everyone!!! I started to see the good in him like Belle Season 4-5: Is where I COMPLETLY lost any hope for him!!!! He just HAD TO go back to being dark!!!! To me the Good Rumple and Rumbelle is gone forever after THIS SCENE!!!! And now he isn't even delisiously evil like seasons 1-2 now he is more annoying as hell!!! He isn't a "good" villain anymore when you root for him even if he is evil , now he is the type of villain you want to high five his face.......With a sword....And a few chairs.......And a table 😡😡😡
I kind of agree with you, unfortunately. My absolute favorite character in this show is Rumple from seasons 1 through 3. I go back to those seasons a lot now because I miss the character he used to be. He was developing beautifully, and then the show ruined it for me. The truth is, I didn't want Rumple to turn completely good. I always thought his dark side was what made him so awesome. But the thing is, Rumple from the first couple seasons was bad with a purpose. Always. He was dark and complex and although I do believe that yes, he did like the power and control, he typically used that power and control for sympathetic reasons. *Spoilers* I mean, the whole reason he had Regina cast the curse was so that he could go look for his son. And to me, one of the most powerful scenes in the first season, or even in the show, is when he tries to beat Belle's father to death with a cane over his heartbreak and misery. He was a twisted man no one could really trust, but I felt something for him because his intentions made him human. I have a couple of problems with where the show has taken him. One: His demeanor. What I loved so much about Mr. Gold in season one was that Robert Carlyle knew how to walk the line. Rumplestiltskin from the Enchanted Forest was flamboyant and over the top (amazing performance by the way) but what really impressed me was how he brought that to Mr. Gold's persona without making them too much alike or too different. Mr. Gold, despite his more human appearance, smiled a lot and had an impish, mischievous spark in his eyes that always reminded me who he really was underneath the mask. Recently, I don't see as much of that anymore. The earlier version of him was entertaining and witty and mysterious, while the more recent version of him comes off to me as just kind of a jerk who keeps stabbing everyone in the back for no good reason. Two: his relationship with Belle. I could go on and on about it, but for the sake of being concise, let's just say the dynamic between them that I loved so much in the beginning has been pretty much shattered. And oh, the drama. I knew there would be challenges, but the farther along we went the more I started to think that they simply didn't belong together. And it's essentially because Belle could never accept him as he was. Her love was conditional from the start, and he had to behave if it was going to work. He knew this and therefore lied to her constantly, which led to the downfall of their relationship. As a result, I've begun to feel that what Rumple really needed all along was instead someone who would inspire goodness in him, but also have the strength and the will to stand by him through everything, including his darkest moments. Instead what we have now has turned into a tedious, toxic mess. And frankly, I don't know exactly where they went wrong or why... I can only justify all this by reasoning that Baelfire's death triggered something in Rumple and he changed as a result. The problem is, I REALLY don't like the change. I always knew that Rumple would never truly be a good guy. That's not who he was. But honestly... I wish that if they'd planned to flip his switch that they'd done it with a greater purpose and made it a little less predictable. I don't even know what that might be but... what I do know is that the Rumple I loved is gone. And I'm not sure they'll be able to mend that.

Quite the contrary. You see, Grant Douglas Ward was ready to stick to his terms of a deal and never pinned the blame on someone else and took full responsibility for what he did. Rumple, on the other hand, didn't do any of these things. So don't compare a villain with an anti hero.
there are differences, but there are similarities. I meant the comparison in the way that they are the constant "bad guy" in their respective shows and obviously both have issues. They both have one person they love and have tried to change, but gone back to their own ways. I do see what you mean by the anti-hero thing though...

Grant Ward never, and I mean NEVER, had a clear showing of what love is and chose to be what he thought was a better person and it all got blown up in his face. Rumple, on the other hand, had an idea of what love is thanks to Belle, but he chose his power over her, and that is something Grant Ward would never do if he found someone who didn't want him dead.
I guess Rumpelstiltskin will always be the villain as much as we wanted him to be the good guy he just isn't he may do heroic things time to time but he will always turn back to his dark ways and though I have always enjoyed Rumpelstiltskin the bad guy I'm a little sad that I don't think he will ever get a happy ending and I don't think Bell will survive.his darkness
When Emma was threatening rumple she really reminded me of the snow queen. With her facial expressions and with the way she always kind of whispered while talking. It was such an amazing scene! Jen and Robert did a fantastic job. I'm really mad rumple did what he did but I'm happy Adam and Eddie did it because the show needed for this to happen.
Would have been really cool to see Rumple use some of that "combined power of every dark one" for something truly massive/scary. It should have given him to power to resurrect the dead, or something.
Rumple is just simply the best as the dark one. The power is safest with him because he’s been living in it for so long. Even though it guides him to do dark things, it’s often only when he is provoked by others.
I knew it was to good to be true. I had a hunch that Rumple will never give up and always find a way to keep his love for power!! I was all excited like "YEA, he FINALLY change to be a good man that Belle always wanted him to be!" Poor Hook! I feel bad for Belle the most, going back to Rumple was a huge MISTAKE.
Robert Carlyle is such a superb actor the way he transitions between Rumple and ordinary Papa, he made OUAT extraordinary with his gestures, impish behavior and utter 😎 suave coolness! ABC, when will u learn we want fun, good plot action and not gory 18+ series!
I have such complicated feelings about Rumple. On one hand I want him to be good because I care about him and Belle and he'll never truly be happy as The Dark One (and if he continues down this path he'll surely die). One the other hand, he shines most when he's being villainous. I noticed in 5A I was completely bored with "hero" Rumple and didn't enjoy his scenes. So he's more fun to watch like this, but I want him to be redeemed... lmao, it's a catch-22.

Wow! after everything Belle and him have been through and i thought Rumple would know better since he knew how it felt getting kicked out of storybrooke and feeling that punch that aimed right at his throat! I dont want Rumple to die but i kinda want him to suffer not a little ALOT! he deserves it! kicking him out of storybrooke was nothing! if i were Belle i would've done way worse then that! -.- Rumple is right. The dark one lies and tricks! and he certainly tricked me! and is it just me or does Emma's hair look really poofy and not like it usually looks?
Seriously, I was fully expecting Rumple to jump in front of the sword when Emma was about to kill Hook. I was like okay, this would be a really good ending to his story but man, when this scene happened, I was sooo happy because Robert Carlyle is just too perfect as Rumplestilskin, especially when he's the Dark One. He's so good at being evil and his character is just too damn smart and compelling. He's a villain. He's THE villain. Really hope he ends up being the villain for the final arc. Maybe him and Peter Pan? Still need to finish season 5 and 6 and 7 but man, this show is way better than I expected. I can see why it ran for 7 seasons now
I have to give Rumple credit. He easily could have hurt Emma here, and bad, especially after she went off about Hook, but all he did was stop her. I don't think he ever liked hurting her or Henry. Probably because at first he knew she had to break the curse, then because of Bae.
@@soixsantes Not me. His motives made more sense than the rest of them. He wanted power because he was tired of being pushed around. He created the curse to find his son. Those are better than Regina blaming a 10 year old for telling a secret to her mother and carrying a grudge for who knows how long. That's certainly enough reason to tear a loving family completely apart. She wanted to blame someone it should have been Cora. And Regina conveniently never mentioned that to anyone, or expressed any regret over Cora killing Snow's mom. That was pure selfishness What really, really bugged me about her was her attitude of "You have to forgive me for everything but I get to hold on to my grudges as long as I want." At least Snow expressed regret for what she did. Not only did Regina never do that but she flat out says she regrets none of her choices in Neverland.

Rumple was my favourite character before. i know the actor is great as a villain but after the third season there was no reason to make him bad again, he already found his son and reconciled with him before he died and he married Belle. But after that they just ruined, not respecting the character' s evolution. i only keep watching this because i still hope the show will be good again, but after years it doesnt seem so..
This scene could have been so much better what should have happened is that when Hook summoned all the previous dark ones the Rumplestiltskin dark one should have been summoned as well and then merges or possessed his other self, his actions would make a lot more sense and not feel like a cop out or character assassination

You know I don’t really think this undoes the character development rumple had It kinda emphasizes it in a way. Let me explain. When he helps hades later on, there’s no joy in it for him. If you’re paying attention you can see regret on his face during multiple occasions Then when hook calls rumple out on having underminded his sacrifice his only response is “acknowledged”. He doesn’t make an excuse, he doesn’t make a threat, he doesn’t taunt and laugh, he doesn’t respond in anyway like he would’ve in earlier seasons. He simply acklwedges the captain’s point Sure he became a much bigger problem in season six but most of what he did was indirect, and whatever wasn’t was mostly done for family related reasons. The worst thing he did was give the evil queen that underworld water and it was quite clear that using it was never her plan. David and snow were gonna turn themselves in, to do otherwise would be completely out of character. Turning him into a hero may not have been as permanent a solution as advertised but the impact remained in his soul.

Supposedly it's a side affect of being the Dark One. Most Dark One's are dead in order for there to be a successor, so they never encountered this problem, but because Emma use to be one, the dagger is calling to her. It's probably calling her back to tempt her into taking it for herself, even tho Emma doesn't want it anymore. Rumple will probably figure out a way to stop that, he can't have her always knowing where his dagger is now can he?!

Something i love about this situation is how Killian will react. Much like we are he will be pissed. Do you think Emma will tell him what he died for? And i know that he sacrificed himself for Emma and for everyone but still he will find out that instead of destroying the darkness all of it went into someone that he hates. I cant wait to see his reaction.
He only died for Emma not for her family. If he cared about them he wouldn't have put them in that situation to begin with. People have to stop believing that Hook redeemed himself he never did. The only thing that guy did his drag down Emma down his rotten path. Plus Hook saying that Rumple took his sacrifice away from him is a lie. The guy would have died anyway since he had been cut by Excalibur. Also his sacrifice wasn't him being a hero, it was him owning to his damn mistake and fixing it.

I guess, for the charmings, anyone who dies and prevent someone else from dying (even if it was their fault to begin with), that still makes them a hero. But like, the charmings are really hipocritical themselves, so whoever they called a hero, should probably not be taking that seriously. Being honest, there were no heroes in this show. There were good people and bad people. Being a good or simply dicent person doesn't make anyone a hero. Being bad doesn't make anyone a villain as well.

Regina, who loved Henry more than anything, knew that nothing could be done, except wish him the best, no matter how much it hurt her. In order to defeat Pan, Rumple redeemed himself and him and Regina made the most demanding safrices. Neal didn't respect that. He grow up in EF, he talked to Regina, he KNEW that was no way to go back to RW unless a dark curse. And what he did? Went to ressurect a man, who had already reached peace with himself and others, for his selfish reasons to see Henry again. If Regina, who literally raised Henry since he was a new born knew nothing could be done and accept that, why the man who only knew the boy a couple months couldn't do the same and wish him the best untill they meet again? No, he decided to bring back the most feared being of the land (who later on even put Henry's life in danger and Neal wasn't innocent to what darkness do to his father, so anything Rumple did after s4 is all Neal's fault), who had already become a free/better man and , because his wishes were more important than his father, Regina and the charming's sacrifices, that they made for their loved ones. (In this point I would even say him and Emma are very alike. The whole problem with Hook, that was the inicial point of discussion, was because Emma was to selfish to let him died in "good terms" and throw darkness at him. So let's say Dark Hook is Emma's fault, in my perception). And he only died so that Rumple could tell who Zelena was, why was Zelena a threat? Because she had the dark one's power. How did she get it? Neal. So no, he ain't no hero. The circunstance were he died was entirelly his fault. But again, I don't think he's a bad person, I actually like him very much, and his dead messed with me as much as with everybody else. But his is not a hero for correting his selfish mistakes, he is just being a regular dicent person (which is most of the cases of the so called "heros" in this show. I'm including the princesses and Emma in this statment as well). But the charmings like to glorify people they get along with (themselves, Neal, blue, Hook, even Regina when she started being "nice" to them, etc), so alright I guees.
I have ambivalent feelings about this. In actuality, it WOULD be challenging to live for centuries with nearly all powerful magic and then to just give it all up to live without the love of your life because of all your mistakes. It makes sense and I love evil Rumple too, but at the same time, it's a shame because I just wish that he could have done it honestly. A way that no one could come back and complain about

Of course Rumple would go back to being the Dark One again. As soon as he was totally set on trying to be a good person, the one person he cares about wants to just up and leave. This is pretty much the same as a sponsor leaving an addict alone right after they've resolved to be better. Granted it's not like Rumple did anything that actually mattered for the story outside of pulling excalibur. Rumple has the least amount of character interactions in the story, even his own grandson has shown little interest in him so why would he try to stay good when everyone he loves just up and goes?
I don't know why Emma's giving Rumple grief. Ever since she and Hook became dark ones they used and abused him. I'm not saying he's an angel but he definitely doesn't owe any allegiances
I HATE YOU RUMPLE!!!! and when you really think about it, there has been *a lot* of villains on this show, but almost all of them became good (regina, hook, ursula, maleficent, etc) or died (snow queen [well, became good, *then* died], cora, cruella, pan etc). rumple, however, has *never* changed and become truly *good* (he sacrificed himself so pan could die, but he only hated pan because of personal reasons and family "issues") since he first became the dark one, has lived hundreds of years, and he died like once after he killed pan, but he came back to life soon after. HE IS THE TRU VILLAIN OF THIS SHOW!!!! D:

I don't think wish rumple was literally more "powerful", but he was more ruthless, becuz he never felt belle or bae's love nd they were never able to change him or anything. Wish rumple is basically rumple but without any love, so in a sense wish rumple will never hold back or try to be good which makes him much more dangerous.
He was more concerned with trying to keep the darkness at bay so he wouldn’t loose his happy ending, but he was willing to give it up to get rid of Wish Rumple

Emma statement is wrong though. Whether the Darkness was eradicated or moved into Rumple doesn't change Hook sacrifice. Hook would have died no matter what happened, even if Emma was the one being struck by Excalibur (in this case they would have both died). Hook sacrificed only helped to save Emma's family. He didn't even do it for them, he did it for Emma. The guy wasn't being heroic, he just did the right thing for the wrong reasons. Personally I prefer people who does the wrong thing for the right reasons.
Didn't this plan save Emma's life though? She was going to let the darkness destroy her. I don't know I just always feel like Rumple has a soft spot for her which is why season 4 really annoyed me. Season 5 has been cool though!
I agree, Rumple had a soft spot for her. But then Neal died, and then she threw herself into Hook and became the worst version of herself. Which, naturally led Rumple to develop a well deserve hatred for her.
Emma is always going to be the Savior. The curse doesn't need a savior to be woven into it in order for her to be the savior, she already is and will always be the Savior. The only time it matters if the curse was cast with a savior being needed is when they need someone who has the already power and potential to become a savior (product of the truest love) to break that specific curse, but it doesn't change who she is. Rumple only took advantage of what she is.
I don't know why this blew my mind. I should have seen this coming, but Rumple is just so brilliant. But I guess Emma should have just planned to move the darkness into Rumple from the beginning instead of kidnapping Zelena and having the drama with all the other "heroes" about murder and blah, blah, blah. They would have had a problem with Rumple being the Dark One again, but they would have taken it over Emma and Hook.

Hook died because he had been cut by Excalibur and would have died anyway. Also he didn't die a hero. He died because he owned up to his mistake and fixed it. Also from that two months experience they just had with Emma and Hook it is pretty obvious that if there is anyone who can handle that Darkness it is Rumple.

I love the line Rumple says “It’s the man I am.” That’s the whole point of the episode, being the person you really are. Hook is at his core a good person, and that persona shown through and he sacrificed himself to protect the people he loves, while Rumple is someone who would do anything to get his power and immortality back because, without that, he goes back to the man he was before he became the Dark One, which was the village coward, and he’d do absolutely anything to make sure he NEVER goes back to that. It’s bad that he basically made Hook’s sacrifice pointless, but it’s perfectly in line with his character, because honestly, after dying and coming back to life just to be the slave of Zelena and losing his son in the process, I don’t understand how people can’t understand why he wouldn’t revert, even though he did sacrifice himself in season 3, it was mostly for Bae and Belle, not for the good of everyone.

AMEN! TOTALLY AGREE. Along side Merlin, Rumple is the most powerful sorcerer in all the realms and has the most knowledge of magic. Now that he has ALL the Dark One's powers inside him, he is truly the most powerful sorcerer/magic user in all the realms and they will need that kind of massive god-like power to take on Hades and the Underworld.

I've always felt a bit conflicted about this scene tbh. This is Rumple at his best, but also at his worst. He's an amazing villain and the way he always thinks ahead, proving he's the smartest and the one most suited to be Dark One, is such a treat to watch. Then again, it's kind of infuriating how they always throw his character development out of the window. If they didn't have those few episodes in which 'Emma turned him into a hero' it would have been fine. Honestly, this show had no clue about what side they wanted Rumple to be on.

I love Robert Carlyle, he can always make Rumple work, but my god did this show completely fuck him over so many times. It just got lazy after a while.
It was explained that this was Rumple's struggle against the dagger's corruption. It exacerbates one's worst qualities, the fact that Rumple wasn't consistently a villain only shows how much of a good man he is at heart.
At least by the end of season 6 he became a hero and remained one till the very end of the show. He finally stopped going back to evil

I'm not a fan of Belle, but I feel soo bad for her that she gets reduced to a bargaining chip here. Emma doesn't even consider that Belle should know that Rumple betrayed her just because she deserves to know.

No one see's this from Rumples point of view. He lost his son and even being good, Belle left him and he made sure he saved her. Then left with nothing Emma by chance gave him the opportunity of getting one of his loves back, POWER.

Carol Soto not anymore. Rumpelstiltskin has the power of EVERY DARK ONE THAT HAS EVER LIVED. That includes Nimue's powers, Dark One Hook's powers (that was taken from Merlin), and Dark Swan Emma's powers...So I wud say that he could demolish all three of them without much thought. Rumpelstiltskin as the Original standard Dark One was equal in raw power to Merlin. He was stated many times to have been the most powerful sorcerer in all the realms.
Merlin was actually stronger than the Dark Ones, he was just tricked by Nimue when he was trapped in the tree. But now, Rumple is stronger than them all. I actually wonder if he can use the Dark Curse without needing a heart now, or if the thing he loves most is his own heart, that'd be something.

This is the scene that destroyed Rumple's character in my eyes. What made Rumple interesting was that he was HUMAN. He did everything he did because he thought it was the right thing to do. He spent 300 years not being a hedonist, but hunting for Baelfire. Season 4 was a little iffy, but he did say that he was trying to secure himself a happy ending the only way he knew, which makes sense in a twisted sort of way.
But him intentionally embracing evil goes against everything the previous seasons(and the first half of this one) built up to. Plus, it makes his relationship with Belle just look ridiculous. Is that supposed to be our big bad? The guy chasing after his whiny wife all the time? Is OUAT a fantasy sitcom? "Woops, there they go down the portal again."
For me, it's the exact opposite. Rumplestilskin was never a good man. Was he human? Did he love his son? Does he love Belle, and, to an extent, Henry? The answer is yes, to all of those questions. But just as he loves them, he loves power. He loves being in control. He loves people owning him.As he said later to Belle: "I love this Dagger. And I also love you".He's never going to be hero. It's not the man he is.
Nicolas Barrera That's the baloney the writers came up with in season 4. He sacrificed his life for them in 3x11. He offered the dagger to August when he thought it was Bae, even planning to get rid of the magic. He described as a crutch, nothing more and nothing less.
I agree that he loves power, but not to THAT extent. Rumple wouldn't take the Darkness back once he got Belle and pulled Excalibur out of the stone because he proved to himself that he's not a coward, which is what the power always substituted for.
I've stopped taking this show seriously. It's probably all Henry's fanfiction, since he's the Author(the s5 finale simply has no other explanation).
I agree with Nicolas. The fact is Rumple was never a good man. Just because you are a coward doesn't mean you can't have a good heart. Problem is Rumple never really had a good heart. And sure Rumple did sacrifice his life, BUT that was never really the issue. The issue was his power, and he is yet to actually give that up for anyone. I mean he has said he would, but I've never seen him actually follow through.
And I am not sure how pulling the sword from the stone gave him a chance to be a dark one again.
Birdie Wolf He didn't give up the power early on simply because he didn't understand the need to. It was never about wanting more power and wanting to dominate etc. etc., magic was simply something that let him do whatever he wanted. He was a regular guy and any regular guy would love to chill out with ultimate power.
Besides, what was he going to do anyway? Go hang around with Neal in New York? He can only really lose the power if he dies, which is exactly what did happen - voluntarily - in 3x11.
Throughout seasons 1-3, Rumple's only issue was temptation, which is a character flaw, not evil. In seasons 4-5, it became active ambition without any real justification.
As for the sword in the stone, don't even bother to question it, they're just making it up as they go along.
DarthRushy I never said he was evil. I just don't believe he was a good person. He has really always done what he has to do in order to get what he wants even if that means hurting people. The only time I can really say the writers lost track of that was season 4a. When he was trying to rid himself of the dagger's influence. Not to mention he lied to Belle about the dagger. She offered it back to him twice, said she can keep it, then proceeded to lie. That was ridiculous.

So excluding the issue of the sword in the stone, when Emma came to him about the sword that was his first real temptation use magic again, and he took it. Right now, Rumple is just no longer hiding the dark part of himself.
I for one am interested to see how Rumple will fit in once he gets Belle out of the sleeping curse. He is more powerful than ever, and he is finally being honest with his wife. He is obviously not on the side of good, but I don't think he is on the side of evil either. I can see him sort of being a neutral force for both sides. Like he will throw his support at anything that benefits him.
And I think we will have to agree to disagree on what happened on 3x11. Because I don't believe him dying means he gave up magic/power. He gave up his life. If a drug addict gave up their life to save someone from a burning car, does not mean they gave up the drugs.

Yes she is different, but I don't like it. When Neal died, a part of her died as well. She threw herself into Hook's arms and became dependent of him. She completely lost herself, became selfish and an hypocrite, became just like her parents and believes to be better than others.
Doesn't take time to understand the pain of others, use them as tools to further her own goals and completely ignores her son.

Emma was always like her parents. Way back when Neal was still alive. And Neal was also exactly like that. Judging other less than how good he thought himself to be. He ressurected Rumple just because he thought his reasons to use the dark one were more important than honor his sacrifice. Emma was never a ultimate fogiving person and Neal was never better than the charmings.
Emma changed by all the things she went through. Stop putting her pain and experiences resumed in relationship stuff.
Being with Neal or any men at all is NOT what makes Emma, Emma. Being better or worse is consequence of all her relations and experiences together.
Neal is not more important good either bad influence in her personallity than Henry, Regina, Snow even Hook.
And being in love with someone doesn't make you worse either. Emma has every right to be in a relationship without people assigning her action or personallity to the men she's with. Also love someone doesn't make you depend of them, Emma is not depent of anyone.

Well, I suppose once Belle rejected him, he had nothing to live for. Being a hero didn't really do anything for him except pull out Excalibur. No happy ending for him, his son's still dead and Belle had pretty much left him.
Honestly, I think Belle coming back wasn't in Rumple's plan. He knew either Hook or Emma was going to use Excalibur to destroy the darkness, and he knew no one was going to be taken down into the Underworld, so he knew he was going to survive all along. What would come after that? The same plan as before and removing himself from the Dagger's control so he can leave Storybrooke? And then what? Somehow find Belle?

I wouldn't say it necessarily pushed him, but it did put him in a compromising position. It's Rumple's responsibility to choose to remain good, not Belle's, and that includes staying good even when bad things happen, like being dumped.

No he did not. He took advantage of the situation. But whether or not he took his Power back wouldn't have changed anything.
Hook was about to send them all to the Underworld.
And whether or not he chose to own up to his mistake (which is different from being a hero. Hook never was a hero.) He would have still died. Whether it was Emma or Hook who was stabbed, whether or not the Darkness was destroyed or transferred back to Rumple, Hook would still have died. Hook became a Dark One after being cut by Excalibur. Onxe the Darkness was gone, his injury would reipen and kill him anyway.
Rumole didn't even betrayed Belle. She had already left him, meaning tha he didn't owe her anything when he chose to retake the Darkness.
Therefore Rumple double crossed no one.

I kind of agree with you, unfortunately. My absolute favorite character in this show is Rumple from seasons 1 through 3. I go back to those seasons a lot now because I miss the character he used to be. He was developing beautifully, and then the show ruined it for me.
The truth is, I didn't want Rumple to turn completely good. I always thought his dark side was what made him so awesome. But the thing is, Rumple from the first couple seasons was bad with a purpose. Always. He was dark and complex and although I do believe that yes, he did like the power and control, he typically used that power and control for sympathetic reasons. *Spoilers* I mean, the whole reason he had Regina cast the curse was so that he could go look for his son. And to me, one of the most powerful scenes in the first season, or even in the show, is when he tries to beat Belle's father to death with a cane over his heartbreak and misery. He was a twisted man no one could really trust, but I felt something for him because his intentions made him human.
I have a couple of problems with where the show has taken him. One: His demeanor. What I loved so much about Mr. Gold in season one was that Robert Carlyle knew how to walk the line. Rumplestiltskin from the Enchanted Forest was flamboyant and over the top (amazing performance by the way) but what really impressed me was how he brought that to Mr. Gold's persona without making them too much alike or too different. Mr. Gold, despite his more human appearance, smiled a lot and had an impish, mischievous spark in his eyes that always reminded me who he really was underneath the mask. Recently, I don't see as much of that anymore. The earlier version of him was entertaining and witty and mysterious, while the more recent version of him comes off to me as just kind of a jerk who keeps stabbing everyone in the back for no good reason.
Two: his relationship with Belle. I could go on and on about it, but for the sake of being concise, let's just say the dynamic between them that I loved so much in the beginning has been pretty much shattered. And oh, the drama. I knew there would be challenges, but the farther along we went the more I started to think that they simply didn't belong together. And it's essentially because Belle could never accept him as he was. Her love was conditional from the start, and he had to behave if it was going to work. He knew this and therefore lied to her constantly, which led to the downfall of their relationship. As a result, I've begun to feel that what Rumple really needed all along was instead someone who would inspire goodness in him, but also have the strength and the will to stand by him through everything, including his darkest moments. Instead what we have now has turned into a tedious, toxic mess.
And frankly, I don't know exactly where they went wrong or why... I can only justify all this by reasoning that Baelfire's death triggered something in Rumple and he changed as a result. The problem is, I REALLY don't like the change. I always knew that Rumple would never truly be a good guy. That's not who he was. But honestly... I wish that if they'd planned to flip his switch that they'd done it with a greater purpose and made it a little less predictable. I don't even know what that might be but... what I do know is that the Rumple I loved is gone. And I'm not sure they'll be able to mend that.
Thing is, he was not "completely good" in season 3. He stopped hurting the heroes to take down a common enemy. Thats not the same as actually changing

Quite the contrary. You see, Grant Douglas Ward was ready to stick to his terms of a deal and never pinned the blame on someone else and took full responsibility for what he did. Rumple, on the other hand, didn't do any of these things. So don't compare a villain with an anti hero.
there are differences, but there are similarities. I meant the comparison in the way that they are the constant "bad guy" in their respective shows and obviously both have issues. They both have one person they love and have tried to change, but gone back to their own ways. I do see what you mean by the anti-hero thing though...

Grant Ward never, and I mean NEVER, had a clear showing of what love is and chose to be what he thought was a better person and it all got blown up in his face. Rumple, on the other hand, had an idea of what love is thanks to Belle, but he chose his power over her, and that is something Grant Ward would never do if he found someone who didn't want him dead.

When Emma was threatening rumple she really reminded me of the snow queen. With her facial expressions and with the way she always kind of whispered while talking.
It was such an amazing scene! Jen and Robert did a fantastic job. I'm really mad rumple did what he did but I'm happy Adam and Eddie did it because the show needed for this to happen.
Would have been really cool to see Rumple use some of that "combined power of every dark one" for something truly massive/scary. It should have given him to power to resurrect the dead, or something.

I have such complicated feelings about Rumple. On one hand I want him to be good because I care about him and Belle and he'll never truly be happy as The Dark One (and if he continues down this path he'll surely die). One the other hand, he shines most when he's being villainous. I noticed in 5A I was completely bored with "hero" Rumple and didn't enjoy his scenes. So he's more fun to watch like this, but I want him to be redeemed... lmao, it's a catch-22.

Seriously, I was fully expecting Rumple to jump in front of the sword when Emma was about to kill Hook. I was like okay, this would be a really good ending to his story but man, when this scene happened, I was sooo happy because Robert Carlyle is just too perfect as Rumplestilskin, especially when he's the Dark One. He's so good at being evil and his character is just too damn smart and compelling. He's a villain. He's THE villain. Really hope he ends up being the villain for the final arc. Maybe him and Peter Pan? Still need to finish season 5 and 6 and 7 but man, this show is way better than I expected. I can see why it ran for 7 seasons now

I have to give Rumple credit. He easily could have hurt Emma here, and bad, especially after she went off about Hook, but all he did was stop her. I don't think he ever liked hurting her or Henry. Probably because at first he knew she had to break the curse, then because of Bae.

@@soixsantes Not me. His motives made more sense than the rest of them. He wanted power because he was tired of being pushed around. He created the curse to find his son. Those are better than Regina blaming a 10 year old for telling a secret to her mother and carrying a grudge for who knows how long. That's certainly enough reason to tear a loving family completely apart. She wanted to blame someone it should have been Cora. And Regina conveniently never mentioned that to anyone, or expressed any regret over Cora killing Snow's mom. That was pure selfishness
What really, really bugged me about her was her attitude of "You have to forgive me for everything but I get to hold on to my grudges as long as I want." At least Snow expressed regret for what she did. Not only did Regina never do that but she flat out says she regrets none of her choices in Neverland.

Rumple was my favourite character before. i know the actor is great as a villain but after the third season there was no reason to make him bad again, he already found his son and reconciled with him before he died and he married Belle. But after that they just ruined, not respecting the character' s evolution.

This scene could have been so much better what should have happened is that when Hook summoned all the previous dark ones the Rumplestiltskin dark one should have been summoned as well and then merges or possessed his other self, his actions would make a lot more sense and not feel like a cop out or character assassination

Let me explain. When he helps hades later on, there’s no joy in it for him. If you’re paying attention you can see regret on his face during multiple occasions
Then when hook calls rumple out on having underminded his sacrifice his only response is “acknowledged”. He doesn’t make an excuse, he doesn’t make a threat, he doesn’t taunt and laugh, he doesn’t respond in anyway like he would’ve in earlier seasons. He simply acklwedges the captain’s point
Sure he became a much bigger problem in season six but most of what he did was indirect, and whatever wasn’t was mostly done for family related reasons. The worst thing he did was give the evil queen that underworld water and it was quite clear that using it was never her plan. David and snow were gonna turn themselves in, to do otherwise would be completely out of character.
Turning him into a hero may not have been as permanent a solution as advertised but the impact remained in his soul.

Rumplestiltskin is the Dark One now, not her.
Supposedly it's a side affect of being the Dark One. Most Dark One's are dead in order for there to be a successor, so they never encountered this problem, but because Emma use to be one, the dagger is calling to her. It's probably calling her back to tempt her into taking it for herself, even tho Emma doesn't want it anymore. Rumple will probably figure out a way to stop that, he can't have her always knowing where his dagger is now can he?!

Does no one realize that this whole season, AND ESPECIALLY THIS SCENE, is just bad, lazy, last minute writing. I mean they made it a point that Rumpel was now a hero. They were like, eh fuck it throw it in the garbage. He didn't have to be a hero or a villain. Just keep him Rumpel. A universally neutral character. This whole season was a cluster fuck. Something i love about this situation is how Killian will react. Much like we are he will be pissed. Do you think Emma will tell him what he died for? And i know that he sacrificed himself for Emma and for everyone but still he will find out that instead of destroying the darkness all of it went into someone that he hates. I cant wait to see his reaction.
He only died for Emma not for her family. If he cared about them he wouldn't have put them in that situation to begin with.
People have to stop believing that Hook redeemed himself he never did. The only thing that guy did his drag down Emma down his rotten path.
Plus Hook saying that Rumple took his sacrifice away from him is a lie.
The guy would have died anyway since he had been cut by Excalibur. Also his sacrifice wasn't him being a hero, it was him owning to his damn mistake and fixing it.
@@SchultzDorinda. I mean, Neal also died only correting his mistakes and people called him a hero. I guess, for the charmings, anyone who dies and prevent someone else from dying (even if it was their fault to begin with), that still makes them a hero.
But like, the charmings are really hipocritical themselves, so whoever they called a hero, should probably not be taking that seriously.
Being honest, there were no heroes in this show. There were good people and bad people. Being a good or simply dicent person doesn't make anyone a hero. Being bad doesn't make anyone a villain as well.

Not being careful is not the mistake I was talking about.
The curse was out, there was no way to travel between worlds. Regina, who loved Henry more than anything, knew that nothing could be done, except wish him the best, no matter how much it hurt her. In order to defeat Pan, Rumple redeemed himself and him and Regina made the most demanding safrices.
Neal didn't respect that. He grow up in EF, he talked to Regina, he KNEW that was no way to go back to RW unless a dark curse. And what he did? Went to ressurect a man, who had already reached peace with himself and others, for his selfish reasons to see Henry again. If Regina, who literally raised Henry since he was a new born knew nothing could be done and accept that, why the man who only knew the boy a couple months couldn't do the same and wish him the best untill they meet again? No, he decided to bring back the most feared being of the land (who later on even put Henry's life in danger and Neal wasn't innocent to what darkness do to his father, so anything Rumple did after s4 is all Neal's fault), who had already become a free/better man and , because his wishes were more important than his father, Regina and the charming's sacrifices, that they made for their loved ones. (In this point I would even say him and Emma are very alike. The whole problem with Hook, that was the inicial point of discussion, was because Emma was to selfish to let him died in "good terms" and throw darkness at him. So let's say Dark Hook is Emma's fault, in my perception).
And he only died so that Rumple could tell who Zelena was, why was Zelena a threat? Because she had the dark one's power. How did she get it? Neal.
So no, he ain't no hero. The circunstance were he died was entirelly his fault.
But again, I don't think he's a bad person, I actually like him very much, and his dead messed with me as much as with everybody else. But his is not a hero for correting his selfish mistakes, he is just being a regular dicent person (which is most of the cases of the so called "heros" in this show. I'm including the princesses and Emma in this statment as well).
But the charmings like to glorify people they get along with (themselves, Neal, blue, Hook, even Regina when she started being "nice" to them, etc), so alright I guees.

I have ambivalent feelings about this. In actuality, it WOULD be challenging to live for centuries with nearly all powerful magic and then to just give it all up to live without the love of your life because of all your mistakes. It makes sense and I love evil Rumple too, but at the same time, it's a shame because I just wish that he could have done it honestly. A way that no one could come back and complain about

Of course Rumple would go back to being the Dark One again. As soon as he was totally set on trying to be a good person, the one person he cares about wants to just up and leave. This is pretty much the same as a sponsor leaving an addict alone right after they've resolved to be better. Granted it's not like Rumple did anything that actually mattered for the story outside of pulling excalibur. Rumple has the least amount of character interactions in the story, even his own grandson has shown little interest in him so why would he try to stay good when everyone he loves just up and goes?

I HATE YOU RUMPLE!!!! and when you really think about it, there has been *a lot* of villains on this show, but almost all of them became good (regina, hook, ursula, maleficent, etc) or died (snow queen [well, became good, *then* died], cora, cruella, pan etc). rumple, however, has *never* changed and become truly *good* (he sacrificed himself so pan could die, but he only hated pan because of personal reasons and family "issues") since he first became the dark one, has lived hundreds of years, and he died like once after he killed pan, but he came back to life soon after. Rumple wouldn't even had to siphon the darkness if it wasn't for Hook loosing his shit and brining all of the dark ones into Storybrooke, threwing his anger on the wrong people just cause Emma turned him! he was trying to sent all of them to the underworld, it wasn't like he wanted to destroy the darkness at first, he only changed his mind in the last moments and when Rumple gave the sword to Emma, he also thought Hook is gonna use the darkness and everyone would bite the dust, he didn't know Hook is gonna change his mind! beside none of it would even happen if Emma hadn't pissed off Hook in the first place, knowing he has potential for the darkside even more than human Rumple! they create a mess by stupidity which gives Rumple see a way to reunite with his drugs(power) and he takes it! the mess is already has been created because of Emma and Hook and doesn't matter if they ended it by sacrificing, or made it worse! still they begin all of this and still say someone else is the villain!😂😂😂

I don't think wish rumple was literally more "powerful", but he was more ruthless, becuz he never felt belle or bae's love nd they were never able to change him or anything. Wish rumple is basically rumple but without any love, so in a sense wish rumple will never hold back or try to be good which makes him much more dangerous.
He was more concerned with trying to keep the darkness at bay so he wouldn’t loose his happy ending, but he was willing to give it up to get rid of Wish Rumple

Whether the Darkness was eradicated or moved into Rumple doesn't change Hook sacrifice.
Hook would have died no matter what happened, even if Emma was the one being struck by Excalibur (in this case they would have both died). Hook sacrificed only helped to save Emma's family. He didn't even do it for them, he did it for Emma.
The guy wasn't being heroic, he just did the right thing for the wrong reasons.
Personally I prefer people who does the wrong thing for the right reasons.

I agree, Rumple had a soft spot for her. But then Neal died, and then she threw herself into Hook and became the worst version of herself. Which, naturally led Rumple to develop a well deserve hatred for her.

No. It's Hook's curse, and there was no savior built into it, no true love's kiss to break it.
I believe she is. She has her original magic.
Emma is always going to be the Savior. The curse doesn't need a savior to be woven into it in order for her to be the savior, she already is and will always be the Savior. The only time it matters if the curse was cast with a savior being needed is when they need someone who has the already power and potential to become a savior (product of the truest love) to break that specific curse, but it doesn't change who she is. Rumple only took advantage of what she is.
