I guess it's implicit in the mention of the $2.5 billion media rights deal with MLS, which via revenue sharing, goes to Inter Miami. Thus Apple 'paid' for Messi, since a good chunk of Inter Miami's spending money comes from Apple. What's not mentioned is that Apple is also directly paying Messi by giving him royalties for MLS season pass and the documentary they're releasing on him.

I hope Apple doesn't do this for two reasons, one it will be expensive in terms of season subscriptions as they will want exclusive rights or something similar to that.Second, they will force ecosystem thing to everyone by not giving good experience for everyone outside the ecosystem.
Existing streaming services are already expensive (35€ and more per month). It can't get much more expensive than that. Amazon has fairly reasonable prices for football matches and if Apple benefits from the devices they sell they will likely subsidize the subscription price to be lower than existing streaming services (sky/dazn/etc.)

Apple has to offer their product either at the same price as the competition whilst offering a better experience or offer it cheaper to gain customers. Apple TV+ for example is cheaper than Disney+ and Netflix.

In the US its like a tournament instead of a competition. Also that teams can't relegate and make promotion is bad to establish a base line of quality and growth. They need to get rid of that system and play in a league with 20 teams that all play twice to each other. I don't know if thats doable with the distance to travel. I also believe that the Canadian teams should play in the Canadian competition that way they would help the rest of their country to make it more competitive.

Even if you would manage to get the majority of all great players in KSA, people would still prefer watching the Serie A, Premier League, Bundesliga or La Liga. It's about performing in those leagues along with the champions league. People are not getting hooked on the KSA league or MLS.......they have tried that so many times before going back to the 70's even.

Hey isn’t it how sports streaming is anyway. This is exactly how sports is streamed in India. It’s especially seen in IPL where digital rights are sold separately. Maybe in Europe it does not work this way but Disney (through its subsidiary in India) already does this for EPL.

I´m glad Messi is going to MLS. I just wish it were to almost any other club. Inter-Miami has proven to be one of the worst run clubs in MLS, with an extremely fickle fan base (like all Miami sports teams). Also, so far Josef has not been an upgrade on Higuain (even though he was very hot and cold while in MLS). Josef just hasn't been the same since he first got injured and Atlanta were smart to saddle Miami with his big salary, while bringing in Giakoumakis from Celtic in his place.
Apple Inc. focused on the right thing: delivering superior quality products. Athletic Interest, in my opinion, is doing the same with YT videos. Extremely engaging, top-quality. I have already told my friends about this channel on numerous occasions. Keep up the top work guys 👏
Honestly, there is nothing groundbreaking about this. It's the oldest trick in the MLS book. You get some superstar in and then expect everyone to watch the games, but they won't. Seeing Messi play for Barcelona or PSG is a bit of a different thing then seeing him play for Miami. Once you leave Europe, people won't watch you anymore so Apple would have been smarter investing in European football and bring that to the rest of the world in an affordable way. That's a much more appealing package than putting all your chips on one old superstar retiring in a league nobody really is interested in. A very American way of thinking about a game which is not American at all. And if you want to watch it on the big screen, you still need a tv....so Apple is not even covering the full spectrum of their own plans, which is very un apple. Seems like instead of innovating they just want a piece of the broadcast revenue pie. That is like one of the least interesting things they ever came up with. I would have rather seen them launch a line of TV's with integrated console as well and superior sound which would blow the competition away. Then Apple TV would really come alive, now they're just doing it half half. People watching Apple TV on their Samsung TV is not exactly the integrated proposition Apple is known for. Tim Cook is great at streamlining things and optimizing....but as far as looking ahead and see what the next thing is gonna be.....not so much.
It's almost the same as South Africa's DStv, a monthly subscription with different plans that gives you tv shows, movies, reality tv, live Sports and most importantly all Premier League Matches with some La Liga and Serie A like as an African i was shocked to know most English people can't even legally watch their teams, made me appreciate how easy it is here in Africa. DStv deal is uniquely different, the Premier League needs the African Market, DStv offers that and unlike Bien and BT sports it's only available in Africa so there is no competition between other Companies. i really wished they bought Man UTD, iTrafford would be have been the envy of many..

I´m glad Messi is going to MLS. I just wish it were to almost any other club. Inter-Miami has proven to be one of the worst run clubs in MLS, with an extremely fickle fan base (like all Miami sports teams). Also, so far Josef has not been an upgrade on Higuain (even though he was very hot and cold while in MLS). Josef just hasn't been the same since he first got injured and Atlanta were smart to saddle Miami with his big salary, while bringing in Giakoumakis from Celtic in his place.

Honestly, there is nothing groundbreaking about this. It's the oldest trick in the MLS book. You get some superstar in and then expect everyone to watch the games, but they won't. Seeing Messi play for Barcelona or PSG is a bit of a different thing then seeing him play for Miami. Once you leave Europe, people won't watch you anymore so Apple would have been smarter investing in European football and bring that to the rest of the world in an affordable way. That's a much more appealing package than putting all your chips on one old superstar retiring in a league nobody really is interested in. A very American way of thinking about a game which is not American at all. And if you want to watch it on the big screen, you still need a tv....so Apple is not even covering the full spectrum of their own plans, which is very un apple. Seems like instead of innovating they just want a piece of the broadcast revenue pie. That is like one of the least interesting things they ever came up with. I would have rather seen them launch a line of TV's with integrated console as well and superior sound which would blow the competition away. Then Apple TV would really come alive, now they're just doing it half half. People watching Apple TV on their Samsung TV is not exactly the integrated proposition Apple is known for. Tim Cook is great at streamlining things and optimizing....but as far as looking ahead and see what the next thing is gonna be.....not so much.
It's almost the same as South Africa's DStv, a monthly subscription with different plans that gives you tv shows, movies, reality tv, live Sports and most importantly all Premier League Matches with some La Liga and Serie A like as an African i was shocked to know most English people can't even legally watch their teams, made me appreciate how easy it is here in Africa. DStv deal is uniquely different, the Premier League needs the African Market, DStv offers that and unlike Bien and BT sports it's only available in Africa so there is no competition between other Companies.

The title of this video is very misleading. I'm highly disappointed that athletic interest will use its subscribers as a click bait just to get views... Not a single mention of Apple paying for Messi was mentioned in the video. It's really disappointing... Tbh!!
With the vision Pro coming out next year, i wouldn't be shocked if Apple try to create a new way of watching football compared to the traditional sit in front of a tv.
