I love watching this,what a lovely family. I’m 76 years old now,but I remember my mother who was born in Faremont, West Virginia. She told me about how they lived on a big farm and made everything from soap to butter and everything in between. A hard life it was but they also made there good times by playing instruments and singing out on the porch, she told me the neighbors who lived in the holler would get great enjoyment listening to them ,8 girls and 8 boys. Yes my granny was a very busy women.❤

Saw this poem on Appalachia. Thought you would enjoy. So very true.
“We Are Appalachia”: We're not Southern, we're Appalachian. We have big mountains, skinny valleys, and we perch our houses on one or in the other. We're strong. We adapt. We always have. If we can't work on these mountains, we'll just work under them. I know that equates with southern living. But we're not Southern, we're Appalachian.
We're not country, we're Appalachian. We don't have a lot of folks wearing cowboy hats. We're not cowboys. We may have dirty hands, dirty faces, dirty clothes, but clean hearts. We get our hands dirty planting corn, beans, peas, potatoes, not enough to sustain an income, just enough to sustain our family. We like to prove we can do that. Sustain us. You know skin a buck, run a trot line, us Appalachian people really can survive. And we're not country, we're Appalachian.
There's nothing wrong with southern folk, country folk, or city folk. We see their worth, each group of them, and appreciate what they do. But we're not them. Some of us have been amongst them, and learned from them, and loved them. Traveling into their worlds on the working backs of the people in our world. Just like everywhere else, that's what we want for our children. But it is often that we learn that nothing is better than what we had.
Hard work, big hearts, warm souls, level heads, wisdom, strength, perseverance, honesty, sincerity, and love. They send us to know better, to do better. We are our own. And to understand us is to love us. So just try to understand. We are Appalachian.

I am super excited for fall in northeast Tennessee after having lived the past 34 falls in richmond va. I am so excited to take long fall drives in these northeast Tennessee and western nc mountains up by roan mountain, tn and boone,nc or Burnsville nc areas to look at the beautiful fall colors.
Reminds me of days gone by. Someday my memories will bring me joy instead of tears.

At first I was confused, but then realized you have made a flash back video, starting May 1st with Matt’s 60th 😜 birthday 😆. Then into planting with flashes of how the beans looked at harvest time, summer rain, grape harvest, canning, Paul’s original creative tunes and all the beautiful sounds of summer 2023. Oh my, it went by way to fast this year with a lot going on with your family. I enjoyed it!

when the video started out and I saw the bare arch in the back ground I thought oh my what have they done, stripped off the Malabar spinach, then i realized this was a My Life series. Loved seeing the cabbage patch stew again, the canning, the creek and Paul playing the guitar. Keeping Granny in my prayers. that cabbage patch stew sure looks yummy, Cant remember if i wrote it down from the video you shared making it so Im off to rewatch that one.

It''s hard to believe that just within about 2 wks your garden went from still producing to being all done except for your squash & pumpkins. I loved watched every day to see what you & Matt were doing in your garden.

Loved everything about this video! It took me back to my Nanny's house. Her pressure canner was going all Summer. I still love to hear that "pst pst pst" sound they make.
I especially loved the creek sounds, the storm, & the evening crickets, cicadas, & frogs. Made me feel like a kid again. I could almost smell the GA red dirt when the rain hits it. Made me homesick.

Tipper, when you get the dreaded news that you have cancer, somehow God gives you the ability to be calm and not let it devastate you. Not that you're not sad and that there aren't hard days, but our Lord really does help you through that. I went for treatment every day and I look back now 6 years later and think, how did I do that. It was because God was with me, and I saw so many who were much worse than I, so I could take my thoughts off me and try to cheer them. My prayers are with Granny and you all. 'Cast your worries on Him, His yoke is easy and His burden light' Love to you all Tipper. ❤🙏

I need to let my mother watch this. She is 93. This video brings back memories of my grandmother, mom, and aunt canning vegetables from the garden. My mother's grandfather, Mr. Sane owned a 390 acre farm on the Conasauga River in Whitfield Co. Georgia. My grandfather had about 50 acres of mostly bottoms land on the river that he farmed (land he got from Mr. Sane). Memories of barns filled with hay, corncribs, and smokehouses are etched in my childhood memories. I bought my grandparents' house in 1999. The smokehouse is still there. God bless you all.

I really envy your weather. I loved that you shared the thunderstorm. It's crazy hot here with no rain for so long. It's the hottest week this week. We get up to 115° by Sunday. I miss the rain and cooler temperatures. ♡ The music was very nice.

Hearing the night sounds reminds me of being in my grandma and grandpa's frontroom,both windows wide open, smell of the Arkansas night air hearing the night music 🎵🎶!! I usually slept on a pallet on the floor or the couch. They had a full bed up in the front room that my parents slept in. Grandma always cooked such good food, even though it was simple and basic! Fresh garden stuff, and fresh milk with thick cream and butter! I thought it was fun to draw bucket fresh cold water from the well right outside the back door!! When I went to the barn with grandma while she milked, and fun to watch her squirt the milk in the cat's mouth, bull's eye sure shot!!

Happy Be-lated Birthday Matt! I sang to you Matt. Lol. The Cabbage Soup you made looked delicious, especially with the Cornbread. I love Homemade Soups and Stews. Throw anything in a Pot, add onions and Tomaters and it always comes out Delicious... Made me realize how unfed I was. Y'all got a good bounty out your garden this year. It'll be so good this winter. Won't be long till Fall will be here. I can see it in the trees and and feel the difference in the air. Keep preparing bc everything keeps going higher and won't be long till there won't be food to buy anymore. Yes, we can grow our food but unless we store back flour, cornmeal, sugar, coffee, cocoa, and such, there won't be any! God Bless y'all... 🙏❤
