So happy with all of this new baby news!! As a nurse, I think this is extra wonderful news for Granny, I have seen it in the elderly many times- they feel a renewed sense of purpose and hope!! I love Granny's vim and vigor and feel like she is gonna be around for a long time and that is what I pray for her! I bet there are sparks flying off of the crochet hooks lol.❤
I usually decorate the tree alone. This year my daughters came over to help. Jokingly saying I’d rearrange them later 😂. They are right. But this year I’m not changing a thing!!! I also enjoy eggnog while decorating the tree!!

I'm still smiling about the babies. All my cousins have another cousin they grew up with. Mine was Greg. He was a week older. When not with another girl cousin, I was with Greg. We would fish and tromp around all the woods together either in a horse or on foot. Greg also was the one that showed me how to ride pigs..there is an art to it. Although I had to sit thru a paddling Greg got cause we rode the pigs. My uncle said he should have known better and I didn't know no difference. I cried for him. He got me back though. I had to hold the baby pigs for cutting. Thanks Greg! 😂😂❤ Congrats yall! I'm an aunt!!! Well Texas Aunt! ❤

tipper, i burst out laughing when you said it tastes like milk with paint thinner, both girls with child how life moves on ,i wonder if they may carry twins you know how twins tend to have multiple births,
That's funny Matt said they used to put a bag over the tree and just pull it out next year and it's already decorated. My ex mother in law has done the same thing for years 😂
Different brands from the store vary. A good 'starter Eggnog' if you can find it is the one Borden makes in a 1 Quart can. No strong spices or flavors. Very mild. Some of the store bought brands add flavorings like rum or whiskey -- non alcoholic, but still offensive to some. The Borden in the can is usually on the shelf with things like canned milk and baking items. It will keep a few months, since it is actually canned.

I had to pause and type this while its on my mind. I just have to say im learning so much about grace and kindness from Katie. What I've noticed, and what I love about Katie is that when someone says something, like when Matt said, "Im old." She made sure to say,"Or it's just a big task. " Her way of saying, "No, dad, it's not that you're old. That's not easy to do. " I just love that. What a kind soul, and what a way to go through life boosting others.
She will be a fantastic mom.

Well, this video was so special!!! Corie and Austins news is wonderful, if they treat that baby the way they treat sweet Olive it will be great! I am only a furbaby mom so I absolutely adore the way Olive is always around and included lol. Almost cried when you were speaking of Miss Cindy- I think Matt started to tear up, but don't tell him I said that, wouldn't want to ruin his manly reputation😂 Gonna be a Merry Christmas there!!

I didn't even know Miss Cindy, but there at the end I was about to cry because it looked like Matt was about to cry. BUT THEN- I saw the blooper! And I realized Matt was trying to keep from laughing. THEN, I did cry cause I laughed so hard I cried. Thanks for that wonderful video.

I used to also not like eggnog all my life until I tried good eggnog. Most of the stuff you buy in stores is really not good at all. A few years ago I discovered an organic one in my local grocery store (I think it may be fairly nationwide, Organic Valley) and it was definitely a cut above. I'm sure homemade is even better, quite delicious!

I never Cultivated a Taste for Eggnog but my Parents loved Eggnog and my Mother always made it Fresh at Christmas Time 🎅🎄🔥

She was a dear woman and mother and in law. Miss her dearly. She died in the mid eighties, but we always feel her presence. Still. Just as Miss Cindy is with you all. I’m so happy for Corie and Austin’s news. It’s wonderful that their baby and Katie’s baby will grow up together. My Great Grandson will be in March also. His name is Lucas. I’m so happy he’ll be here in 3 months and joins big brother’s Logan and Landon. Isn’t it wonderful, these feelings are so hard to explain. Y’all have a great week and stay as happy as you are. An easier way to make egg nog is to melt vanilla ice cream & drink it.
There will soon be a sixth generation of the family who have drunk from the jar you didn't pour the egg nog into. That's pretty special.

Matt I am just like you and your dad. My kids always made fun of me but my husband worked rotating shift and I worked nights with 2 kids 8 years apart and every one going different direction. Even used the black plastic trash bag and put it in attic. The crazy part we always had to go other family houses starting Xmas eve and day. I am now like Miss Cindy and no tree . Kids and Grandkids all go skiing somewhere. Colorado or Virginia depends who has snow.

You are so lucky that you kept your Raggedy Ann/Andy alarm clock. I am the youngest of 5 & I wasn’t a morning person, so all my siblings would wake up to this… Andy, Andy, please get up, it’s time to wake our friends… okay Ann, I’m awake, let’s shout it once again, We are here to wake you, so here we are to say, Please get up, brush your teeth, & have a happy day ( on repeat! lol ). The tree looks beautiful & I can’t stop laughing over the bloopers!
First of all, congratulations to the soon to be grandparents! Two babies!! What a happy Christmas for the entire family! I have our Christmas tree lit in the dark “barn room” where we watch TV & read. We call it the barn room because the walls came from an old WWII era wooden airplane hanger. The beams are ancient American Chestnut from a barn torn down and repurposed.Amazing axe cuts can be seen along the huge long hand hewn beams. My decorations, after 62 years of Christmases, are much like yours. Hand made, each with a special sentimental meaning & memory. I collected all the antique glass ornaments, heavy metal tinsel strands, & other lovelies from my grandmother’s home after she passed. I used a large wooden twig wreath & arranged them all around the circular wreath. Then when it looked just right, I used a glue gun to attach everything 🙏
your weepiness, gave me a lil tear too, both my parents are gone and now my former in-laws are gone as well. Christmas has been pretty low key for me for a number of years now, so really enjoy watching you and your family!

I love egg nog but i cant drink it like i could when i was a young girl. Growing up in Brooklyn, there was an ice cream store called Carvel. They sold egg nog ice cream year round. It was delicious! 😋😋

Those photo ornaments are so cute. My mom crocheted me some beautiful white snowflakes for my tree. They are due for a wash, starch, and iron though. 🫣 oh, I remember the deer horn topper from last year, lol. The trees always look bigger once you get them in the house I think. I just can not get over the raw eggs. Even in your recipe the egg whites are not cooked. They’re folded into the rest of the heated mixture. I just wouldn’t trust it, I’m the paranoid type I guess. Also, can’t stand to eat meat that has any pink in it at all. Sadly once I get something like that into my mind, I’ve never been able to overcome it. It’s the same thing with homemade ice cream😮
Antlers are okay, but you still need an angel or star topper to represent that special night .
