I am so impressed with all the work you and your husband do together. I never fully appreciated all the work my Dad did for his garden. He took care of the garden and was always proud of it and my Mom loved freezing and canning the things he grew. Sadly, I didn't realize how much work they put into doing things for our family when they were living. My children and I miss them. Wish I could tell them how sorry I am for not realizing all the work they did for us at the time. Thanks for posting your videos and letting me finally realize how hard my parents worked.
I know how you feel. I helped my Dad, but not nearly as much as I should have. I can still picture him at the end of the day leaning against the handle of his shovel looking at the large garden.

Tipper you are so right about it being hard to give up your independence. When my Mother was about 84 she started showing signs of dementia. I think the hardest part for her was knowing she was going to have to depend d on others. After she passed at age 88 we found a little beaded book and I sat down on her bed and read it. She titled it the things I miss that I used to be able to do. She wrote...I miss being able to cook big meals for my family. I miss roller skating and swimming. I miss watching the tumble weeds back home. I miss sitting on the front porch and singing with my 8 children (she had already lost 2). I miss my Paw and Maw but I will be seeing them soon. This just went on and on and as I sat on her bed I cried as my heart broke all over again for her.
Betty, I understand everything you said about your mama. I have lost ALL my independence also. I am only 68 and have been in a wheel chair for a year now. I have no family or friends, well just a couple...my husband passed 8 years ago and I lost my precious son to suicide. I haven't been out of my house for 10 months. I laughed until I had tears coming out of my eyes, listening to Matt’s stories when he was a kid. That is exactly the kind of stuff my husband did. I’m sorry you got the cold from Matt but remember, that sugar is costly. 😂😂😂. We’re supposed to have cold weather here as well. I’ll be wearing myself out trying to keep all the new landscaping covered up! Granny always told me that if you wait here until Easter to put out plants, you’ll not have trouble with late freezes. She was a wise woman. 😊. Do you remember having to turn a knob on the tv to stop the lines from running down the screen? I got a good laugh about yelling at the person trying to fix the antenna. Fun times. 😂
"🎶Whistle me up a melody, whistle me back where I wanna be. Whistle me a tune that'll carry me to Tombstone Territory.🎶" I watched all the western as a child and young teenager, Maverick, Gunsmoke, Sugar foot, etc. I still love the old westerns. I enjoy listening to you and Matt talking. Sent a prayer that you feel better quick.
Matt is getting more comfortable in front of the camera. He’s a good husband to you Tipper, hold on to him, he’s a keeper. You’re a good wife to him, so he needs to hold on to you too. Y’all got a lot done today. I know your excited for this years garden. It will be a great garden!
Matt’s right about “where the red fern grows” is a good movie. My teacher in fourth grade read that book to us and I don’t think any of us kids had a dry eye. I’ve seen that movie a few times and cried every time. You guys are so funny. Lol.
Kim J Becker yes that was good movie, though I hate when animals are hurt or die, though it's not in the movie, only telling of a true story. Old yeller was one few years before that. They were both filmed just east of me at the Oklahoma/Arkansas State line, it's beautiful,i love it! I love the Ozarks and the Appalachian!!
I just love it that the two of you sit around chatting and being friends with each other after so many years of marriage. I love how you listen to each other. ❤
At the end here when you ask Matt if those two hawks are mated and he says “well, I didn’t ask em” omg I’m laughing so hard because I’ve had such a similar exchange with my husband 😂😂 whenever I see a plane flying I wonder where it’s going, what’s the nearest airport, etc. One time I asked it out loud when my husband and I saw one flying overhead. I said “wow… where is it going?” And my husband started laughing and said “I don’t know, did you want me to ask it?” 😂👏🏻👏🏻 love seeing those precious comedic moments between you two!
Do you ever cook fresh green beans with very little onion chopped up fine. When the beans are just about done, add fresh corn cut off the cob and cook all about ten minutes more with bacon grease, salt & pepper. Yummy!!
We all grew up in the greatest time of tv 📺. We were the remote control, lol 😆. I really enjoy the talks you have with Matt. I remember working with my husband each year in the garden plantings. Keep warm and dry. Much love and prayers for you all. 🙏 ❤️
Matt is hilarious 😂. “Can’t keep her off of me”😆🤣. I love the nice cool days to get things done on the outside. It’s so sad when the cold snaps come and bite all the fruits; it got my blueberries last year. I love Where The Red Fern Grows and of course I cry. All the old shows are favorites. Thanks for taking us along😉
Y’all have tickled me to death. Listening to Matt brings back memories of my own feral boys😂. I just had to close my eyes and keep praying they’d live through their shenanigans 😂. Love you guys❤
Absolutely love to watch your TH-cam channel. Its like visiting with old friends. You are such a sweet couple! It's fun to here Matt tell his stories. You whole family is such a blessing to so many and God will bless you greatly. Well, rub with the Vicks vapor rub and feel better
Boy, you two got a lot done! I never heard of Tombstone Territory and I'm a good bit older than y'all. I watched Gunsmoke and Wagon Train. We got three channels, ABC NBC and CBS when I was growing up. I liked a western called The High Chapperal. I still like old comedies like Andy Griffith and Hazel and they were always funny and they didn't have to cuss and carry on to be funny either! I loved Matt's stories of his childhood escapades! I remember right after I saw Mary Poppins (the first one with Julie Andrews) I tried jumping off my Maw Maw's front porch, which was pretty high up off the ground, holding on to her good umbrella because I was positive I could fly just like Mary! 😂
I love sitting here with you all just listening to you two talk. Brings back so many good memories of myself growing up and been at my mom and dad's. They both worked hard. I wished I appreciated back then as much as I do now. Thanks for sharing with us.
As Always love seeing you Tipper & Matt work together, outside..Great to see you getting your gardens & new beds filled and potatoes planted. Love hearing the Stories of You & Matt youth. I had forgotten about renting VCR's... Love the old Westerns too. I have a lot of old VHS movies. And a VCR. I have no other TV. GOD SPEED ON FEELING BETTER. I'll bet that SUPPER MATT MADE should have worked wonders on healing you up. Great stories with Popsicles!! I Enjoy our Time Together SO VERY MUCH!!
The kids in our neighborhood spent several summers (between 1964-1967) playing the Big Valley. We took turns playing each of the characters, those were special days when I got to be Audrey. Thinking of video rentals, I got in trouble for not rewinding.....I learned what Be Kind and Rewind meant! We also spent hours pretending to be Mary Poppins in our basement, jumping off the landing at the top of the stairs, with our open umbrella's, hoping to fly. We hit the concrete basement floor every time, jumped back up and went back to the top of the stairs. Enjoyed hearing about yall's memories!
Love the old western shows also ! I sure miss watching them with my husband. He passed away Will be 5 years in May. Cherish each moment you have with each other. I found out the hard way tomorrow isn’t promised. I will see him and be reunited with him when Jesus comes to get me. He was my first last and forever love!
Growing up in the southwestern part of Virginia, our granny never would let us go outside bare footed until after the 10th of May cold spell(BlackBerry Winter!) The way things have have been going it will prolly be a 19th of April cold spell. Here in Western Kentucky our seasons are just about a month off this year. Keep vlogging we enjoy every episode!
It is so much fun being with you and talking with you on these videos, during your chat about the tv shows, my husband was telling you his name was Chester ,and you said it right after he did, and we laugh with you also.!! Great videos!!
Whenever I watch you and Matt working together in the garden, I think every time how you two are the Adam and Eve that God intended. You're a wonderful example of a godly marriage! 😊
Gosh it's fun watching y'all talk. Matt was a regular country kid growing up! 😂 So many good memories. All country kids knew how to make their own fun. Y'all work so hard it just makes the food taste so much better. Always enjoy listening to y'all talk. Hope you all get to feeling better. Stay safe and GOD bless
It would be nice to plant sweet potatoes in one of your hillside beds. You would have wonderful lovely vines to spill over the sides . Once you plant them there is no upkeep . You would just have to harvest in the fall . Sweet potatoes are great for winter storage and I also home can my sweet potatoes in a sugar syrup .Great at thanksgiving .
@@justinehyre2975 We always hill up a big long row with lots of rich soil .We then cover the row with landscape cloth and pin it down . We then cut holes 12-14" apart and then proceed to plant our sweet potato slips and water them really well . Water a couple of times while they are developing a good root system , Rain will penetrate the landscape cloth . You pretty much then just watch them grow and harvest in the fall
My husband and I are close in age with 2 children your girls age. We grew up in rural part of Virginia and did not have access to cable or satellite tv until I was in college. We never had tvs in our bedrooms. Only in family room and mommy and daddy’s room so our tv watching was limited. We spent time outside. Not in front of tv. Funny, today, I can go to their house any day if the week and it’s on that Western channel. Best gift us girls ever got him!
Try your local highway department. When they clean ditches the soil is good and you only have to pick out the refuse. I used it one year to replenish around my horse barn. Thanks for all you and your family accomplish and film for us. Much love to you all.
The highway department used to keep the ditches clean out and the banks trimmed here but they don't any more. The town of Morganton composts leaves and tree trimmings and sells it cheap. They call it Morganite.
@@papaw5405 in Tulsa Oklahoma the county or whoever would take trees, limbs, etc from cleanup and grind into mulch. Anyone could have all you want free. And the stockyards would clean out the stalls, pens. And you could take a pickup, truck,or trailer to get some of the manure and they would load for you. Last I got any few years ago it was $5 pickup or trailer load.
Wow, that was a lot of work, but y’all sure have a nice lot of garden beds. It looks awesome❣️ I had to chuckle as you went down memory lane. My husband watches all the old westerns, too. It’s comforting to watch them. I’m a retired Baby Boomer and I grew up with all those shows. You’re so right that it’s much safer for kids to watch them. My grandkids like the old shows, too. It’s gotten to the point that there’s only two shows on regular TV that I watch anymore. Blue Bloods is the only drama I really like. This is why I like your channel. I love your videos and the values you and your family have. You’re so much like my family, it’s comforting. Thanks for everything you share❣️💞🌸
It's so nice to see spring touching your yard- we still have alot of snow here in Nova Scotia. I think that pretty purple flower that your aunt gave you is Lamium (spotted dead nettle) You'll like that it's deer resistant. I haven't tried it but it's edible (flowers and leaves) you can make a tea or finely chop it in mashed potatoes. Hope everyone's over their colds soon.
Heather Greenwood oh thank you for the information!! I thought the flower looked like dead nettle, and also known as henbit, but wasn't sure. My granddaughter,my daughter, and myself were just talking about that the last few days, and it's even good to eat, so healthy. I looked up recipes just yesterday to make a "pesto"with it.
Just love you guys. I lived in the Ozark mtns for 16 years in the 1980s and remember the red clay soil and 98 percent rock! You take me right back there. Such a lovely joyful family you are. Thank you for sharing your days with us.
I bet that felt good getting some planting done. It always does doesn't it. Love listening to you and Matt talk about all the things. Sorry you aren't feeling well. Prayers for you Tipper.
This video was so sweet. It reminded me of growing up way back in Missouri’s Ozarks. We were allowed to wander all over the hills and explore. I jumped out of a barn loft flapping Little Golden Books about Dumbo and Peter Pan. I guess I thought I would fly… I didn’t but there was hay below. We could barely ever get the tv to come in, nothing but “ snow” on the screen. I planted my potatoes in grow bags last year and they did great but I got 22 lbs of sweet potatoes out of a 25 gallon grow bag. You all are unique and I love that. Bless you all.
This has been one of my favorite videos. I love the way you to work together. I remember as a little girl the antanna was outside my bedroom window. Mama took the screen off. In the winter we could raise the window and tune in the tv. Wow now as l look back life and living was so simple then. Thanks for the memories. May God Bless y'all.
Thank you and Matt tipper I m a better man for knowing you the weather is gonna get cold again .i hope you get to feeling better tipper I am so glad to see you both everything is looking good hope yall have a great and safe week ahead .
Hi Tipper and Matt. You are so organized. Here in Arkansas the temps are going down to low 30's and 20's. I retired here almost 2 years ago. Wow, what temperature swings. Thank you for tips and recipes. Can't wait for your next book.
Tipper, "It's what he told ya about trying to get sugar, can't keeper off of me!" I busted out laughing at that! I needed that good laugh. Had to go back and rewatch it so I could comment and get it right. Lol I truly enjoy watching yall from here in KY and can't wait to see your garden blossom this summer then watch ya cook it up.
Matt is a man of few words whose facial expressions say alot. He was eyeing that popsicle doubtfully, until it touched his tongue...then a look of INSTANT gratification. Had to watch those few seconds twice.🤣 I'm actually surprised how much I enjoy watching your garden come together. It reflects your love of the whole process. 😍
When my daughter was in 1st or 2nd grade (she's 24 now), we had to read a book together. She picked Where the Red Fern Grows. I knew from my youth what it and Old Yeller would do to me!! I tried at least 3 times to get to the end of the book!! It never happened, at least not reading it out loud to her! My now ex-wife had to finish it! I LOVE all of your video's. Even though I live in central NC, we live in the country and do, cook, grow, hunt and have the same issues that ya'll do. A lot of words ya'll use are the same we use. Thank you, Matt and your girls for all ya'll do!!
What did you guys think of The Waltons? I tear up when I see them now as it reminds me of my Grandparents and parents who are now gone. Yes, definitely safe family material. I remember crying over Where the Red Fern Grows. I think it was black and white but then we didn't have a color TV. Old Yeller really got to me!
We watch all the old westerns too, my wife bought me the complete set of Gunsmoke too. We love them, tales of Wells Fargo, wagon train, Rifleman all of them. That’s why I watch all your stuff, I swear we are family lol. Good to see folks with interest like ours.
My mother in law just said she was going to start driving again. Dad does the driving but when they go shopping, he's always says do you need that, you don't want that, she just wants to go shopping in peace. I need to tell her, have him drop you off and tell him to go for a coffee, you'll call him to pick you up when done. Thanks for another fun video, stay safe, and hope you feel better soon.
The plant with the variegated leaves and purple blooms, I think those are called spotted dead nettles. Well, the planting has started and won't be long till you can plant the more sensitive plants. I have baked many potatoes in a fire. Best way to do it. Great stories of the past. Love listening to your stories of the past as I can relate to most of them. Hope you get over your cold soon Tipper. Thanks for sharing!
Having the creep'n crudd as my grandmother use to say, Hope you all feel good soon. One year when I was young (24) I volunteered to plant potatoes in my mothers garden. I grew the most beautiful potato plant ever, so big and pretty and green. I used sprouted potatoes and when it came time to dig them up with my grandmothers spoon. They all were the size of a quarter just little ones millions of little ones. I was terribly heartbroken and felt guilty for all the people I felt I had let down. The soil was just too hard to let them grow any larger.
I can remember my parents bought a console TV back in the 60s. It had a stereo (record player) and a radio and my cousins and my sister and brother had all their friends over for a dance party in our living room. What a great memory! I had an older brother and sister and 3 older cousins. I was the "baby". Lol I learned a lot of things I probably shouldn't have known.
My husband and I watch your videos everyday together. It is by far our favorite channel! Where do y’all get the mushroom compost? We need some to add to our garden badly. Tipper, you have given me a gift with your channel that I appreciate so much! I am reminded of all my family that live on in my memory, since now at 72, I’m among the oldest ones left. Thank you so much.
I miss all the gardening with mom and dad. They both have passed away in the last 3 years. I so love watching you and Matt making the garden the sitting a spell to talk and rest a bit.
Hope you get to feeling much better soon Tipper. So good to get to share your life via videos. Matt you made up for Tippers low energy enjoyed this sooo very much,
Tipper, that purple, variegated plant your aunt gave you is called Spotted Dead Nettle, I believe. They're very nutritious in Vitamin C and such. They are also anti-inflammatory, among many other good things.
Such a wholesome family. You have changed my life in many ways. I love your videos and your gardens are beautiful. The South is my favourite place in the US. The most welcoming people. I’m from Canada and during our many trips the Southern hospitality is matched by no one. I haven’t been to the Carolinas so Tennessee is my favourite state so far. On one trip we were invited to Louisiana by a couple we met. Hugs all around. You and your family are so loving. You make my day.
We've had some kinda head colds and the week before I come down with a 24 hr stomach flu. I cannot remember being sick for many years, hoping nothing unleashed on us? Just never know, what I do know is Trust the Lord with our whole heart ❤️ Thanks for sharing all your garden love 💕
I can't help it. Im listening to you two talking. Totally enjoying it. But I'm laughing because I'm also watching your chickens in the background running around. They're so fun to watch. 🤣🤣
I enjoyed listening to the 2 of you tonight, and it took me back, especially Matt’s sharing memories of his boyhood adventures. Behind our house when I was a child there was an old field, and someone had tied an old long length of rope to a high branch of a big wide oak tree. It wasn’t the jump rope or clothesline type rope I was familiar with but thick, coarse tannish rope bristling with fibers sticking out. Big boys would climb the tree and holding the rope would swing on it and holler like Tarzan. One day, I was 7 or so I decided I was going to climb the tree and swing on that rope, so I did. I had no idea that you needed arm strength to maintain a hold, or that my hands were too small to grip it but once I jumped with the rope down I went sliding down and landing with rope burns on both hands and wrists, if memory serves. Oh the mercurochrome (sp?) stung when my mother dressed my hands and arms after washing them, and I believe I had gotten a splinter from it too. 😂 I enjoy watching the old western tv shows as well, I got into the habit a few years ago. I didn’t care for such things as a child, though we all liked Bonanza back then. But now I really do like to watch them from time to time. My favorites are Gunsmoke, The Rifleman, Rawhide, and Wagon Train. Up here in Massachusetts we’re supposed to get a nor’easter starting Monday late in the day. I would dearly love for the winter to be over. Thank you for a most enjoyable video.
I've been watching your videos for a while now, I am in my thirties and love learning about how people grew up. I am visually impaired, and love how you described things in your videos.
Y'all aremaking me smile with all those Western remembrances. My mother finally relented and we got a TV in 1957. I remember a show called boots and saddles. Actually I remember the name of the show more than the show, LOL. I don't really remember that many other shows other than westerns because, we weren't allowed to watch more than one show on a school night, if we had our schoolwork completed. My mother did not want a television in the house because then people didn't want to visit, they just wanted to sit and watch television. I believe she had a very valid point.
I love your videos but especially your Sunday posts with Matt. My weekend isn't complete until I watch Tipper and Matt discuss gardening, eating, and life. I can't start the week without it!
Was a fun visit with you both. Your garden is going to be beautiful when it warms up. I enjoyed y’all reminiscing about the tv, movies and antennas 😂 so many folks were climbing on the roof back in the day. Matt reminds me of my brother shooting stuff, oh boy the glass, our Dad wasn’t too pleased either. . . and we did it all with no protective gear 🫣Glad you both are feeling better, definitely being in the fresh air and a hearty meal will be what your body needs to kick the cold out. Potatoes in the wood stove 👍🏼Blessings to you both 🤗I agree Tipper, independence hard to give up, keep doing so you can keep doing.

Everything is greening up so pretty there! I love the splash of bright colors of the budding trees in the spring in NC. The splashes of shades of orange, yellow and green white and purple. Very pretty
I love these working popsicle visits. Very relaxing. Nice spending time with you fine folks. My boyfriend shot our old tv in the front yard. That tv used to flip & flip so we were fed up with it. But there's lots of glass to clean up. Crazy memories. Good to hear you both laugh. I just love your whole family. 😄🥰🤪
Watching y'all talk about old TV shows and only a few channels and especially about some of the dangerous things Matt did as a child brought memories flooding back. I am 75 and will be 76 next month. I remember the old days with good Westerns and shows and the entire family would sit together and watch it together. I have almost completely given up watching any of the "regular" huge number of TV channels and spend just a couple of hours some nights watching channels like yours. Some of the kids I grew up with say that in today's world we would have gotten in REAL trouble for the things we did. We made our own gunpowder from scratch and made our own rockets and fireworks with it when we were in our early teens. We were careful and didn't really get hurt bad, but could have, but the one lesson we all learned was that some risk is just a part of life. How do kids get to know that any more? PS -- Your channel and your daughter's channel are two of my favorites. I really enjoyed Katie's tour of her jewelry workshop! Just to see someone actually MAKING things these days is heartwarming.
Usually I eat my dinner watching you. But tonight, you inspired me to do the dishes before dinner. I had no idea you could eat violets. Violet Jelly sounds like a wonderful gift. Gonna look that up. Another good video. THX!
Matt had me rofl with his puked up cottage cheese comment, I love those coconut pops too! I love y’all’s popsicle chats. This is my favorite season with all the new growth sprouting all around!
We laughed out loud when you were talking about adjusting the tv antenna. What memories. Someone had to hike a mile up the hill to adjust my dad’s and mom’s antenna. When I started dating my sweetheart he had the privilege of going up the hill to adjust the antenna. I’m surprised he didn’t break and run while he had the chance. 😂
I am so impressed with all the work you and your husband do together. I never fully appreciated all the work my Dad did for his garden. Thank Joyce!! I know you miss them terribly! I'm sure they enjoyed the work as much as we do 😀
I know how you feel. I helped my Dad, but not nearly as much as I should have. I can still picture him at the end of the day leaning against the handle of his shovel looking at the large garden.

Thank you Sue 😀
I watched it as a grown woman with my older brother that I found. He was shocked that I had not seen it, very good show 😭.
I'm glad you got some planting done. One of my favorite things is just watching you and Matt just chatting together. It makes me smile.
So glad you enjoy it Margaret 😀
I just love it that the two of you sit around chatting and being friends with each other after so many years of marriage. I love how you listen to each other. ❤
Isn't that the way its supposed to be?
At the end here when you ask Matt if those two hawks are mated and he says “well, I didn’t ask em” omg I’m laughing so hard because I’ve had such a similar exchange with my husband 😂😂 whenever I see a plane flying I wonder where it’s going, what’s the nearest airport, etc. One time I asked it out loud when my husband and I saw one flying overhead. I said “wow… where is it going?” And my husband started laughing and said “I don’t know, did you want me to ask it?” 😂👏🏻👏🏻 love seeing those precious comedic moments between you two!
😀
You could always say, "To an airport."
@@judithburke1539 haha thank you, I'm gonna whip that one out next time it happens!
Do you ever cook fresh green beans with very little onion chopped up fine. When the beans are just about done, add fresh corn cut off the cob and cook all about ten minutes more with bacon grease, salt & pepper. Yummy!!
I haven't but that sounds so good 😊
We all grew up in the greatest time of tv 📺. We were the remote control, lol 😆. I really enjoy the talks you have with Matt. I remember working with my husband each year in the garden plantings. Keep warm and dry. Much love and prayers for you all. 🙏 ❤️
Thank you Sandy 😀
Love how you both work together and then enjoy a treat afterwards.
Thank you Robbie Lynn! I hope you have blueberries this year 😀
Y’all have tickled me to death. Listening to Matt brings back memories of my own feral boys😂. I just had to close my eyes and keep praying they’d live through their shenanigans 😂. Love you guys❤
Where the lilies bloom is a must see. It’s about Mt. People.❤
Absolutely love to watch your TH-cam channel. Its like visiting with old friends. You are such a sweet couple! It's fun to here Matt tell his stories. You whole family is such a blessing to so many and God will bless you greatly. Well, rub with the Vicks vapor rub and feel better
Thank you so much!!
You two are such a joy to watch and listen to! You can just tell you have a wonderful relationship!
The great part about it is, your daughters would do anything like that for y'all they could. Y'all raised some very loving and blessed young ladies.
Thank you 😀 I hope you have a great week!
Where the Red Fern Grows, is one of my favorite movies! Never watch it that I don’t cry like a baby!!
Thank you Julie! I'm so sorry you lost him.
Thankyou!
I love when you and Matt just seat and talk.
I just fixed smoked sausage, new potatoes and fresh green beans with cornbread. So good. Hope everyone gets better soon.
That sounds so good 😀 Thank you 😀
Sounds so yummy. I miss eating that at mom & dad's. They are both dead now. My son & grandson don't like them so I don't cook them.
Thank you Tim 😀
I really enjoy watching you guys conversing on your bench and eating your Popsicles!
I just love your fast forward, you two are just working working working
It is so much fun being with you and talking with you on these videos, during your chat about the tv shows, my husband was telling you his name was Chester ,and you said it right after he did, and we laugh with you also.!! Great videos!!
😀
Where the Red Fern Grows is the first movie I rented.
A bit late but thank God! Watching other videos is like being punched in my brain. Thanks to you and Matt.....and family!
Whenever I watch you and Matt working together in the garden, I think every time how you two are the Adam and Eve that God intended. You're a wonderful example of a godly marriage! 😊
You are so kind-thank you 😀
Gosh it's fun watching y'all talk.
I hope to plant some white ones Connie-great idea 😀
I can my sweet potatoes in a light syrup there easy and delicious.
My brother has been trying to grow sweet potatoes for a few years now with no success.
Is there a secret??
@@justinehyre2975 We always hill up a big long row with lots of rich soil .We then cover the row with landscape cloth and pin it down . We then cut holes 12-14" apart and then proceed to plant our sweet potato slips and water them really well . Water a couple of times while they are developing a good root system , Rain will penetrate the landscape cloth . You pretty much then just watch them grow and harvest in the fall
@@justinehyre2975 you have to plant slips and not seed potatoes like other potatoes.
My husband and I are
close in age with 2 children your girls age.
Great tip! Thank you 😀
The highway department used to keep the ditches clean out and the banks trimmed here but they don't any more.
It looks awesome❣️
I had to chuckle as you went down memory lane.
Thank you Vickie 😀
Well after watching this video I watched.. Where the red fern grows and like Matt said I bawled. So touching
If you all had boys, I bet they would have been just like Matt. Love listening to your stories.
Matt's stories make me hurt. I have a back ache and laughing at his rappelling story is just painful. Love listening to ya'll talk.
I love a peony better than a rose.
Matt cracks me up.
“ I just love it when a plan comes together” A -team
This makes me homesick for something I never had. Looks like a good life.
Hey fellow Bluenoser! I too mentioned 2 her that plant. Then I thought I'd scroll down 2 c who else tld her and saw you!
Thank you Heather 😀
Just love you guys. I lived in the Ozark mtns for 16 years in the 1980s and remember the red clay soil and 98 percent rock! You take me right back there. Such a lovely joyful family you are. Thank you for sharing your days with us.
I bet that felt good getting some planting done. It always does doesn't it. Love listening to you and Matt talk about all the things. Sorry you aren't feeling well. Prayers for you Tipper.
Thank you Linda 😀
I like watching "The Life and Times of Wyatt Earp", as well as Tombstone Territory .
Thank you Anna 😀
Tipper, "It's what he told ya about trying to get sugar, can't keeper off of me!" I busted out laughing at that! I needed that good laugh. Had to go back and rewatch it so I could comment and get it right. Lol
I truly enjoy watching yall from here in KY and can't wait to see your garden blossom this summer then watch ya cook it up.
Glad you enjoyed it 😀
Matt is a man of few words whose facial expressions say alot. He was eyeing that popsicle doubtfully, until it touched his tongue...then a look of INSTANT gratification. Had to watch those few seconds twice.🤣 I'm actually surprised how much I enjoy watching your garden come together. It reflects your love of the whole process. 😍
😀 Thank you!
I always enjoy these chats and the popsicles! That rappelling story cracked me up!
I so love when you and the hubby sit and just talk with stories and food ❤ Don't get me wrong, I love ALL videos but partial to these 😊 Be Safe ❤️
Tipper Matt is just sharing with you because he loves you so much, but i hope you feel better soon😊
😀
You two are such a great couple!! Thank you for sharing your life with us!!
Thank you 😀
What did you guys think of The Waltons? I tear up when I see them now as it reminds me of my Grandparents and parents who are now gone. Yes, definitely safe family material. I remember crying over Where the Red Fern Grows. I think it was black and white but then we didn't have a color TV. Old Yeller really got to me!
Love the Waltons 😀
Your property is beautiful. Looks so organized and ready for the coming season. Happy gardening, Tipper. ✌️♥️
Thank you 😀
We watch all the old westerns too, my wife bought me the complete set of Gunsmoke too.
Your hard workers, but don’t you love it. Seeing and enjoying the fruits of your labor. Yummy vegetables.
😀 we do! Thank you 😀
Having the creep'n crudd as my grandmother use to say, Hope you all feel good soon.
Thank you 😀 Sorry they were little potatoes-I've had many experiences of gardening like that over the years 😀
@@CelebratingAppalachia Thank you for the kind words. It helps. Live and Learn I guess.
Where The Red Fern Grows makes me bawl as does Old Yeller
I can remember my parents bought a console TV back in the 60s. It had a stereo (record player) and a radio and my cousins and my sister and brother had all their friends over for a dance party in our living room. What a great memory! I had an older brother and sister and 3 older cousins. I was the "baby". Lol I learned a lot of things I probably shouldn't have known.
Dad and I used to watch Gunsmoke and Andy Griffith together a lot.
Thank you Linda! So glad you enjoy our videos 😀 My local feed store has it: Wayne's Feed Store 😀
Thank you so much!
Hope you feel better soon 😀
Tell Matt I watch Tombstone about every day for the past year. I never seen it when I was a kid either.
Love that!
Glad to know about surprise lilies. Didn’t realize they had green first.
So glad you enjoyed it 😀 Thank you for sharing your favorites and your rope experience 😀
I've been watching your videos for a while now, I am in my thirties and love learning about how people grew up. I am visually impaired, and love how you described things in your videos.
So glad you have been enjoying our videos! Thank you for watching 😊
I love old yeller and the yearling. Sgt York.where the red fern grows. Love those old movies.
I loved where the red fern grows too
Thank you Linda 😀
Y'all aremaking me smile with all those Western remembrances. My mother finally relented and we got a TV in 1957. I remember a show called boots and saddles. Actually I remember the name of the show more than the show, LOL. I don't really remember that many other shows other than westerns because, we weren't allowed to watch more than one show on a school night, if we had our schoolwork completed. My mother did not want a television in the house because then people didn't want to visit, they just wanted to sit and watch television. I believe she had a very valid point.
It sure is nice to hear and see you both reflect on the day and anticipate what's upcoming and reminisce from the past. Thanks again for sharing.❤
Don't forget High Chaparral. One of my favorites.
That's a good one 😀
Hawks being scared of crows is why it;s a good idea to have some black chickens mixed with your flock they can't tell the difference
I love your videos but especially your Sunday posts with Matt. My weekend isn't complete until I watch Tipper and Matt discuss gardening, eating, and life. I can't start the week without it!
Thank you Henry 😀
U Guys r so Impressive with working together, enjoying the Weather and speaking with us All the way through. I know the Harvest is going to be Bountiful and oh so Delicious. Thank u both for sharing it Ways of Living with us and Enjoying what God has done for us.
❤❤❤love when the new growth starts showing. I call it "the green fuzz". Very exciting.
😂
Everything is greening up so pretty there! I love the splash of bright colors of the budding trees in the spring in NC. The splashes of shades of orange, yellow and green white and purple. Very pretty
I love these working popsicle visits. Very relaxing. Nice spending time with you fine folks. My boyfriend shot our old tv in the front yard. That tv used to flip & flip so we were fed up with it. But there's lots of glass to clean up. Crazy memories. Good to hear you both laugh. I just love your whole family. 😄🥰🤪
The one violet plant with the variegated leaves reminds me of a jelly fish🥰
Thank you Tom! We appreciate you 😀
Usually I eat my dinner watching you.
Of the older good, clean TV shows, Little House on the Prairie is my favorite.
😀
