I really enjoyed it, l am 70yrs old, and still learning from the great pickers, and old dogs can learn new tricks, from you young wippersnappers, lol, man you are one of the greats because you were open to learning from those who are better, instead like so many pickers are intimidated, you are like Tommy Emmanuel ferocious,, and fearless,, thank you,, Sincerely William Wisham!!!

Years ago I remember Eric Clapton making very similar comments. Get a good tone out of an acoustic guitar with your fingers first before you touch an electric guitar with a million effects pedals. You cannot get the tone and feel from an effects pedal. It is very impressive that a player of Joe's calibre takes time to share his guitar wisdom.

Thanks for this. Suggestion for a future Saturday video: I’d love a bit of a tutorial on using a looper pedal. I know you were part of an advertisement for one a few years ago. I’d like to know what you think it’s good for, AND what do you think it’s bad for, and any technical suggestions or musical suggestions you might have for using a looper pedal. I know that’s kind of broad but I trust you’ll figure it out :-).

I'm finding a like the thicker plectrums these days, both acoustic and electric. One trick I've recently picked up is to use the rounded edge for a warmer strike across the string(s), and the more pointed end for better definition and clarity of note(s).
Thank you for sharing your thoughts and insights 🙏

Tone! Hey Joe. Another great video. I’ve been working steady on my scales and trying to play them with my fingers ala Mark Knoffler. Hand strength is definitely improving since his style when playing three notes on a string almost exclusively is done with hammer ons or pull offs. I’ve also been working on my finger roll drills and incorporating it into Freight Train as you suggested in your beginner Udemy course. Just having so much fun. I can’t believe how much my playing has improved thanks so much. Cheers!

TONE! -Wow, thanks Joe for another great video. -Good news: Hopefully soon (as Texas, USA is still ‘Out of Stock’) I will be the proud owner of a brand new Maton “The Joe Robinson Signature Model” guitar from Australia; According to said Texas dealer, Maton guitars from Australia are expected to be back ‘In Stock’ in November. Yay!!! Anyway, I can’t wait to start playing my new (large-bodied) Maton (JR Signature) guitar - instead of my current (small-bodied) Guild (M-20e) guitar - before I begin your Advanced Fingerstyle Course on udemy. Anyway, I need to be able to ‘easily’ play the upper fretboard when my capo is, eg, on the 4th or 5th fret.
