- In this episode I tackle the paperweight Frontera that's been parked outside the workshop for the last few months, I gave myself one week to get it back on the road which involved a lot of welding, brakes and many more MOT items!

Big admirer of your methods Ben, good on ya!
🤣🤣
That bloke in the TR6 said “Blimey! There’s a Frontera coming the other way. You don’t see many of those nowadays “
That moment, when you crack a beer on a Friday evening, after a long week at work and you’ve finally got the kids in bed, and then realise you’ve got a 80+ minute Tasty Classics video to enjoy…bliss! 🍻 🍻
Finally I have found a great car channel with brilliant content, where you don't get annoyed with the content creator being so annoying. There are that many car channels on TH-cam where the people running them are over the top annoying. Great channel 👏 👍
Excellent ❤ A sunny Friday evening, beer in the garden and Tasty Classics. Get in 💪
Reminds me of very happy times in the late '60's when I painted my £65 A35 with paint from dad's shed and made a floor pan from an old tea tray and tinkered about with the points, tappets, brakes and filled the dashpot with 3 in 1. Now just stirring my tea with my old screwdiver! Thanks,Ben.
Wasn't that bothered if i watched this episode or not. But im so glad i did. That old vauxhall came out really nice. It does look like it was someone's pride & joy for a long time. Just hope it goes to a good home. Another great save. Respect to you, sir.
Hey Ben - it’s an Isuzu!
Please could you add a playlist of all the great music you have as a soundtrack to some of these vids? Thanks Richard
Yet another fantastic video Ben. I can already preempt your professionalism way before I even start to watch you. How on earth did you learn so many skills I’ll never know. I can guarantee that you don’t ever try to be somebody you aren’t just for your videos and actually the person you portray is how you are everyday. You must be really proud of yourself when you watch yourself back in the knowledge that you make a lot of people happy who may not have the best of lives or who don’t have any family. You certainly give me something to look forward to and I get ridiculously excited as soon as I get notified you’ve created another video. I love being a patriot of yours it’s a wonderful feeling to just do a little bit to aid your growth. You’re gonna be huge make no mistake. Thank you for what you do.
This is such a great post!
My new friday ritual, food drink and some adult treats and a Tasty Classics video to chill out to 👍
The Frontera was built in Luton - that Isuzu 3.2 V6 was the engine they used for the Opel Calibra Super touring car (tuned up). Honda also sold the Frontera in the states as the Honda Passport
and isuzu sold it in america as the rodeo
My old frontera sport 2.0 was solid, because it had a galvanised chassis as standard
Lifted it 2inches and fitted 31" tyres, was a cracking offroader . Sold it and bought an Isuzu trooper 3.0 which I've heavily modified, had it 10 years and it runs like a dream..only does 20mpg though.....😂
came for the capri .. stayed for the excellent content and the laughter - cheers
@27:00 that combined drum/disc brake is cool...whoever came up with that concept did some lateral thinking ! 👍
This is much more than a car channel, Ben. A thoroughly enjoyable watch.
Before we all got posh with BMWs and Mercedes we all had Vauxhall and Ford cars,I love it and actually ahead of it’s time- everyone drives SUVs these days
Always liked these Fronteras, great to see this one saved and back on the road! Think you should put a picture of those brakes in the joke book tho, have people laughing for hours😂 Nice job Ben 👍
I think you have single handedly raised the Vauxhall Frontera profile up to a potentially cool modern classic choice .
Glad you saved it job well done
So glad this failed to sell on eBay and decided to get it up and running. I had one for 5 years and it was a beast.
If you pull the key fob apart and put some tin foil between the battery and the contact, it will solve your starting issue. It's a common fault.
There is a button on your dash, to the left of the wheel, has four wheels and a drive shaft on it. Press that with wheels straight ahead and you can engage low and high range 4WD.
I’ve been patiently waiting for the Friday video 🤣🤣🤣 can’t wait for a good spend of my night ! Love it Ben 👍👍
Ben absolutely loving the channel the button on the dashboard of the Frontera is not a diff lock that actually engages the four wheel drive hence why you couldn't shift the transfer lever it was still in two wheel drive keep up the great work 👍 Jaimie.
Friday, weekend, and this Nice
I had two.. Frontera A in carabbic blue and the B like this in polar sea blue I believe... Both 2.2 petrol... Both towed our caravans well... And were reliable and easy to maintain.. Nice work on the video.. Really enjoyed it
The old Corsa 'C' is so basic ,but such good fun to drive . The Fontara look almost classic in it's own right. Well done man.
I omitted to comment on the Capri...had to away at the end of vid....but, sincere nice one for that ,it really pulled together nicely, the new engine is a must for that....brilliant. [Where do cars go to the toilet??......in the Bath..vroom !!😂😂] 👍👍
In Australia it's a Holden Frontera, but it's still an Isuzu under the rebadging program operated by general motors.
The old frontera is a good old 90’s bus. Well done Ben.
love the music who is the artist?
You could do a resistance check on the a b s sensors to see if theres any readings?
That caliper you put on needs a washer on both sides of the banjo bolt.
Another fantastic video look forward to Friday night viewing
Nothing beats watching this ivideo enjoying some cold cans of IPA - Ben you truly are the Chesire Derek Bierey! The surname fits you as you certainly love your beer!
're the rear load sensing valve. I thought it was to sense the weight of rear passengers and any heavy load in the boot, and alter the rear brake pressure to suit...
Hi mate, sent you a message last week through your website about a bumper for the capri, sent some pics but nobody has got back to me yet😁
Brilliant episode Ben that box of goodies from Alan and his lad was nice love the videos mate
I love Vauxhall's i had a Carlton 18 TC in the colour gold, electric windows drove like a tank nice car.
Hi Ben, always look forward to your videos on a Friday night, and as a life long Vauxhall enthusiast I especially enjoyed this weeks episode. Why are Vauxhalls so overlooked as a modern classic, I love my 2.5 V6 GSi Vectra, keep up the good work mate, all the best, Neil
i like the 2 door frontera this is the first 4 door one i've seen .if it hadn't needed welding i might have taken a bus all that way down to buy it at close to 500 quid.
Would you ever consider an air blasting gun to remove surface rust from moving parts and the undercarriage?
Friday evening and a feel good video from Tasty classics. Thank you. 🤗
@ 40-42 was that fudgy from 6d diesels spying on your capri for parts for his own rebuild 🤣
Great vid ben,boy can you weld.clever man.love your vids ,my wife enjoys watching.grèat job ben.regards alan❤❤ n suzy
great to see the frontera back in action again, Id have been temped to spray underneath with the Schutz, just to finish that off.
I remember the Frontera coming onto the market. I liked its looks then, and still do - haven't seen one in the flesh for many years. Good job I don't live in the UK these days, or I'd have had it from you...
Good that it didn't turn out a Izuzu Fron'tear'a and it got back on the road. Nice to see one again. Enjoy the vino - hope it lasts the weekend.
These were called Holden Rodeo here in Australia. Really like all the videos so far.
I bought a Frontera Sport not long after they came out. It was a great thing and I sold it two years later for the same price I paid for it. Oh, and I replaced it with an Isuzu Trooper.
If it has electronic milage counter then keep hold of the trip rest button while you turn ignition on it will give you any code it has
That’s now one fine family bus put back on the road. Top work, Ben. 👍🏻
Yeah that is quite a nice car tbf very retro.
Well done Ben, another one rescued
Love these old buses. Over an hour long?? Yes please! ❤
Olpening music was a reminder of Radar Love by Golden Earring Ben. Sort of gets things off to a good start.
my mates neighbour worked for vauxhall,he knocked the door one dark night and chucked the keys to one of those at us,said right lads its a test car with any driver insurance and a full tank of fuel, enjoy your selves,i think we ploughed a few fields that night
The song from 1:04:17 is Sway Together by Hannah Juanita
I would imagine the wheel speed sensors could be pulled off and cleaned. It's possible to do that (pull them off, wipe them off, reassemble). It's likely it's not reading the tone-ring well enough to communicate to the ECU/ABS System.
ABS sounds like it could be a reluctor ring broken and rotating when moving giving a false reading. Basically gets rust between the CV joint and the ring making it snap so it can expand when spun quickly. Should be able to visually inspect. and see if you can push one round with a screwdriver and hammer. Good luck!!
Top tip for you with plastic bumpers. Teak oil with a microfibre cloth. Just wipe in one direction with a liberal bit of teak oil on the cloth. Lasts bloody ages, doesn't streak when rains. Be mindful not to get it on your paintwork directly. Got mine in b&m, was about £2 for 250ml. Better than back to black etc and 1/4 of the price. Love the videos
Sorry ignore last comment about air conditioning working 😂, only just managed to watch the video today, been busy fixing my own , car , motorcycle, and push bike lol , great video enjoyed it Ben 😊👍
If the ABS light goes out but comes on when you go over 30 mph, it usually points to a problem with reading speed from one or more of the wheels, ABS only works above 30-35 mph.
As regards to the ABS light, you really need tech 3 to diagnose what the problem is. Id hazard a guess that its either one of the ABS rings on the back or an actual ABS sensor???
I own 2 vauxhalls
1)is my trusted Astra 1.7 dti (isuzu engined ) van that iv owned for 14 years.
And 2 is my Calibra 2litre 16v which iv owned 7 years.
Owned my first Calibra in 1995
Before that i was a ford man , and owned Many Capri, Cortina, Escort
Ben, had to get in touch!
Unfortunately these vehicles had a big problem.
They burst into flames due to the fuel pipe running alongside the exhaust
Lovely motor though.
Loving the capri work
You can be overly rough in the work you do but you are comical too
Keep up the good work.
Getting to enjoy your stuff! But don't push it! 😂😂
Hey Ben,
Another great fun Tasty Classics video. Fantastic turn around of the Frontera it looks fabulous.
Looking forward to your next video. 🍷🍺🔧🔨🚘
Greetings from west Australia. Been here for 30 years miss a rusted cill and a seized calliper. Jus won’t rain ouf here. Great vid viewed with a few cans of IPA. Nice way to spend an evening.
they did make some tasty V6's in Ellesmere Port
Evening Ben , your content makes an old man very happy 😃 and also the music choices you play …… brilliant keep it coming young man , here’s to many more .
What was the music while you were driving about please?
Nice one, great watch and lovely to see the old Fronty surviving. I liked my 3.2 V6 and you made me want another one now! They were made in Luton, same as me.
I love my Vauxhall's, old and new. The reason i didnt buy it off ebay was 2 main factors. 1, i didn't have the money to buy it, 2, if i did have the cash to buy it, i wouldn't have the money to fix it up. I would have used it for my TH-cam hobby as the towbar would have been a great addition. Keep up the great work and look forward to the next project. P.S., if your thinking of donating free please consider me 😂😂.
Needs TECH 2 software to talk to it. I used on old laptop (Running XP) and cheap software from ebay. Worked on late 90's Vauxhalls nicely when I used it.
We had a similar ABS fault with an Isuzu Trooper. It was the module. The cost was more than the vehicle was worth. So it was scrapped
You can’t beat a bit of jet scratch action..☮️
Considering the state of the hubs I bet the ABS tone rings and sensors are mullered.
It's turned out really good it's good to see one in the Rd
Love it, I had an S reg 2.2dti frontera and I loved it mine was an ex Scottish police motor it white.
Lovely old skool classic as wud love to own it
I live for the day we get a 3 way Tasty Classics, Vice Grip Garage and Pole Barn Garage American/European road trip. Sod it, Throw Junkyard digs in there too and we have a party!
I have always loved the frontera's
I had the 2.0 sport with removeable hard top, bit of a gas guzzler but i loved it. Wish I kept it but had other cars.
Nice work, the Frontera looks nice. This car is so much cheaper than your Discovery 😂. I think you have to sell the Frontera, so you can’t compare it any more with the Discovery 😉
Brought back memories of the late 80s when I bought one brand new on the Caribbean island of Anguilla.
It was the ISUZU AMIGO and was a convertible...an amazing little car! Later Isuzu did a deal with Vauxhall to supply these and badged it the Frontera. Great video...hope someone buys it. ❤
Great content Ben, you should really wear something with long arms when welding!
I look forward to Friday evenings as I know I’m going to be entertained by your videos Ben. It was good to mix it up a bit with the drive and stop offs. I think you’re going to have fun with all that wine and a book of dad jokes….enjoy 😂😂
Hi , since you’re handy with your multimeter, you can test the resistance of each abs sensor looking for around 1k or thereabouts. If this doesn’t isolate the culpruit it may be a corroded dirty or broken reluctor ring which isn’t being read properly by a wheel sensor. You can also check the output of each on an oscilloscope on a vehicle of that age as the sensors will be self-inducing and give you a good signal if they’re working properly. Hope this helps. Enjoying your adventures.
I do love a Frontera. I had one many years ago.
i had a few frontys, the 3.2 are proper guzzlers. I preferred the 2.2 with the bull bar and steps, really made.it.look better. Great video as always 👍
Nice work, by god that must have been a hell of a party you were throwing over the weekend.!!! 🍾🍾🍾
Always look forward to your vids ……. Keep it up 🎉
this is actually an interesting surprise, not the normal, i like it , id be interested in the analytics
Weekend is saved again, great car and video, another car saved😎🔥
Joint project developed by GM, Isuzu and Honda, the Frontera came as the Vauxhall Frontera, Isuzu Amigo, Holden Frontera or Honda Passport. Honda V6 petrol or Isuzu diesel, GM assembled.
Great song 👍🏻
Hey Ben, subscribed a few weeks ago, loving your work, looking forward to more Capri stuff as I love old 70's and 80's Fords. Pls do a Mk3 Cortina because they rock....I mean rot.
Good to see it back on the road. Whenever I see 90s cars like that, makes me wish I'd kept my 1999 Mk IV Golf. Had that until I traded it in back in 2012, most likely cubed by now :-(
I had a Frontera from work in the mi 90’s for a while great car to drive it was a diesel one though but fun anyway, great channel Ben loving the content and I’m looking forward to more old car shenanigans. Cheers
Another one rescue nice one.
I was a steel worker always got iron splashing when using oxycuting torch the works keep up great vlog 👍
Good Evening Ben. I am really Glad i waited for this Excellent Production, of You giving this Beautiful Classic Vauxhall Frontera 3.2 V6. I really Enjoyed seeing your Fabrication, Welding, taking her out for a Well Earnt Road Trip. I really did like the footage of you visiting the Wine Merchants and the Gorgeous Record Shop. This is what i really Love about your Channel Ben. Giving her a very Good and Thorough Wash and Hose down. She looks Incredible as she Shines in the Summer Sun. She is Absolutely the Perfect Summer Road Trip Companion for You Ben. What a very Kind and Thoughtful Gentleman to send that Beautiful Gift of Goodies. I really Loved seeing the Panhard Key Ring. The Brand new Endescope should very Interesting, looking at all sorts ehh Ben. Thank you very much Ben. Have a Fantastic Weekend, Enjoy a few glasses of that Top Class Wine. Cheers. Jonathan.
Wasn't expecting a video on the Frontera but I loved it! A wild card thrown in there!! ❤ Great watch and I'm glad you've made something usable out of it. Keep um coming Ben 😁
Hello from Florida. We know about auto a/c. It's life and sweaty death here. First get a new cabin air filter (if equiped). Less Legionaires disease.
Outside air setting can flush the Vesuvious heat from a freshly parked vehicle after starting off but only for a minute or so. I always drop the front windows about halfway for a city block or two. Then set to recirculate. (the circley arrow label)
You want to re-cool what you've already spent fuel cooling...not hot outside air...might as well leave the window down. 🙂It was 100 here last week, all week.
Love the show sir.
