Always enjoyed flying on the 707's and DC-8's. Will never forget our first trip on a 747. Freshen up in the morning with the literal steaming washcloth. Sure miss the incredible service and quality of the meals on the rails and contrails of the past. The more 'advanced' we become, the further behind we truly are-----
Now you are seated next to a smelly pervert who has fidgety feet, or worse, hands, and when you reach into the pouch in your seat you find a half-eaten cheese sandwich.
Then: only the wealthy could afford to fly. Today: we sit in a recliner watching movies on a personal HD display while jetting thru the stratosphere at 500 miles per hour…and complain endlessly about it.
Very good video... it's too bad airlines around the world can't or won't offer such service with 4 and 5 star chefs like then. Now you have to worry about belligerent and combative passengers who have no respect for the crew and fellow passengers. Some flights require armed sky marshals.
Actually there are airlines that still offer such service (up until the pandemic…). You couldn’t afford it back then, and you can’t afford it now. Why people think they are entitled to luxury service without paying for it is beyond me.
...not if you're flying First Class-(!) It's not that much different from traveling "third class", or "steerage" on the passenger liners- EXCEPT your travel time is a HECK of a lot LESS.
If you want "luxury travel", you can still get it. But you're going to need to fly first class-and you're still paying less in constant dollars than these people did. Don't expect Lobster Thermador and champagne when you're paying the same amount it would cost to take a damn bus.
Hey, a least it was acknowledged in a appropriate manner. More to the point, had no idea Germany were so advanced moving freight and mail across oceans in the Thirties, to South America, etc, and catapulted off ships in the middle of the Atlantic! And the 1931 Junkers was a beast and beautiful in design! I loved this documentary. ❤

Foreign object damage: 1 sheep.
No mention of the evil ones...it must suck to lose a war.
You can say that twice - Vietnam surely taught the US a lesson or two in this context. But seems they like it that way...Iraq, Afghanistan...
