    My engine mounts are nylon (A.K.A. two zip ties hold each engine mount together)

    Thanks Mike, went with the stiffer Poly mounts for my NB. I have a spirited driving style and looking for about 250hp out of my new engine.

    I like the IL. If you're changing'em on a 90-93, just take out the headers when you do it.

    Love the blackbird fabworx. Best IMO.

      They make good stuff over there. I don't think any of us would fault any Miata owner for using their parts. We obviously prefer our stuff, but there's some bias involved.

    An engine is a subset of motor. Any mechanical device that converts energy into rotational motion is a motor. An engine is a motor that converts heat or thermal energy into rotation. All engines are motors but not all motors are engines.

      The old timers will always argue motors are electric engines run on fuel, I however could care less 🤣

    What do you think of hybrid setups?
    I have an Innovative Poly on the driver-side and a Mazdaspeed stiff rubber on the passenger side.
    Would you consider offering hybrid kits on the FM site?

    I put the IL motorsports mounts in my nb last summer and they are great.

      We think they are a great upgrade from stock without going full poly. :)

    Thanks a bunch. I was already going to do the upgraded rubber but this sealed it for me.

    I've seen that it's possible to use jaguar XJ Series 1,2,3 engine mounts along with some fender washers as shims. Apparently they are much stiffer than stock, cheaper too and since were used on heavy Jag engines with up to 300hp are a good option for boost. Has this avenue ever been explored by yourselves?

    • @FlyinMiataVideo
      @FlyinMiataVideo  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      We've not experimented with those. Why use washers as shims on a part from another car, when you can use a properly fitting part engineered specifically for the Miata?

    if you want to know the NVH of the innovative mount, i can't tell you. however i did sit in an NB that had the 60a ones installed with the engine idling and everything you touched, the dash, the sill etc basically felt how your phone does when it vibrates. not to say it was unpleasant or harsh, but it will feel like your car has turned into a giant vibrator. fine for a track car, probably not your daily unless you have as high tolerance for that kind of stuff

    • @FlyinMiataVideo
      @FlyinMiataVideo  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      No arguments here: Poly mounts will find new rattles and might make some of the old ones a bit more apparent.
      That said, the poly mounts do tend to chill out a bit after a few hundred miles. The NB we did our initial testing with actually ended up feeling surprisingly smooth with them in. We were pleasantly surprised.

    How best to get an idea of what “a little bit more NVH” Poly mounts produce?

    • @FlyinMiataVideo
      @FlyinMiataVideo  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Find someone local and have them give you a ride in their car. NVH is going to be subjective, with different people having different tolerances, so the only way to truly know is to experience it.

    Is there a recommended engine mount for the FM Stage 1 turbo kit? Would a new stock version engine mount stand up to the increased HP?

    Bro, i have 2017 Miata ND bought from Japan which is used car. damage was left front wing and wheel. now the problem is there is a huge vibration in the car. bonnet is also vibrating, fuel cap also vibrates a lot. i am guessing the engine mounts. what are your thoughts? there is no engine fault codes shown in the dash.

    • @FlyinMiataVideo
      @FlyinMiataVideo  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      If the vibration happens only at road speed, I'd be looking at tires, wheels, and drivetrain components. If the vibration happens when the vehicle is on but not moving, I'd focus on the engine.

    I have a '99 5-speed with about 40K miles on it, and have troubles shifting into first gear (especially when the car is cold). Could deteriorating motor mounts help explain that? As far as I'm aware they are OEM.

    • @FlyinMiataVideo
      @FlyinMiataVideo  ปีที่แล้ว

      There are a few things that could be contributing to that issue. Check your fluids (clutch and transmission) to make sure they are topped off and clean. Next you may want to invest in a shifter rebuild kit. The plastic components in the stock shifter wear out over time, and refreshing them with new parts will make a the shifter feel much more precise. Motor mounts could contribute, but temperature wouldn't really be a factor there. Feel free to reach out to our customer support team directly through phone or email if you have more questions!
