@@monopolizedopamine unless I could cheaply and easily disable or override it, it would definitely be a hard pass for me. Living in the south, I would much rather have a 20 year old Honda or Toyota with lower miles that had lived it's whole life down here.
Wife got a hybrid Fusion Titanium 2019 it had super low miles on it, sat on the dealer lot over 3 months. Soon as we got it home within 2 days the aux battery went out and it had to be jumped. Took it back to the dealer we bought it from they replaced the aux battery but said the main battery was ok. 2 weeks later the main battery went out also. I went and got the bigger battery from the dealer it was the same price as the smaller battery from the parts store and had a longer warranty. No problems since then! Great tips as usual Alex!!

Benz tech here previous gen cla(117) gla(156) super important to do both they have issues when the aux battery and the main battery are going bad the car would shut down during auto stop and not turn back on due to the battery not having enough juice to turn back on usually u would only get a message on the dash for the aux battery and the main is just starting to go out
This is why any newer mopar vehicle isn’t worth buying unless you got the money to spend on maintenance or the knowledge of doing your own work. I work at a CDJR and it breaks me seeing the charge after having both replaced at a stealership
I really hate that start/ stop& unnecessary battery costs. You can't win either way . Auxiliary battery.... how about a rear wiper.... more useful than start/ stop
So genuine question, my vehicle has the start stop feature thing but i always just turn it off before i drive anywhere, could i possibly run into these problems even if i dont use it?
I unfortunately have a 2008 malibu with the 2.4 ecotech engine which I've replaced the alternator, starter, battery AND the ECM, yet I still get a battery light on the dash. Short of removing the shething for the wiring loome to check it for any bad spots, where might my problem be?
Not to step in for Alex, but just some tips. Gotta verify your alternator is actually good, either on the car or bench test. Bad ones make it to the store a lot, esp rebuilt ones. If it is charging, is it on the high end or low end. Low end at idle might trigger the light. Also, peep at the balancer/crank pulley. Sometimes the rubber that holds the outer & inner ring together will deteriorate, which will allow the belt to slip & the alternator won't really spin fast enough
@tmsz28 I ordered the alternator from Amazon and it was tested and passed. The other thing that happened is that a parts store employee told me to connect a cable from the alternator to the negative post which initially fried my ecm and caused the alternator to smoke. I'm just trying to see if I'm going to have yo spend thousands of dollars to resolve the issue of the alternator not charging my system.
Maaaannn, Alex they can keep all this extra💩! Start/stop, soft closing doors, auto parking, lane assist, auto trunk open and close, hybrids...its all going to fail and be damn expensive to fix! I don't want anything newer than 2012!
Wellll thaaank yoouu ! I didn’twont know that , now I definitely wont buy those types of car . 😂 what a way to get ripped off from the car manufacturer haha
It saves a little gas and they use stronger starters since the cars start much more often but like with anything, more options means more potential problems. Not that you care about my opinion lol
That's y I do not care for that stop start system it's like we all have been doing without the stop start system it's unnecessary to even have that function now
Forget that. Glad i own the older Cars like Toyota and Chevrolet simple, plan, practical qnd easy to work on and most importantly battery in the front of engine compartment. Not alot of technology in my cars lol so easy to work on. These companies putting to much technology in vehicles so u have to take back to dealership so they can bleed more money 💰 out ya. Not me cuz 😅 my 2001 Toyota Camry 4 cylinder has 305,679 miles on it and still running strong its built like a tank with no Lights on Dash Board simple maintenance only oil changes and tire rotations. People buy you a Japanese made vehicle. Toyota, Honda, Subaru, Madza u can't go wrong speaking from Experience 😂.
Most stupid idea!! The ONLY good thing about the Start/Stop system is that you can shut it off every time you get in your car. Make it a habit like fasting a seatbelt.
This is if Bob Ross was a mechanic.

This makes me love my old toyota even more.
Same here 00 4Runner 300k miles runs like new no check engine light
Start/Stop systems are probably the single most useless and unnecessary development of the modern era. A dealbreaker for any car I MIGHT want.

It's halfassing the idea of a hybrid.

This is one of the reasons I've never bought anything newer than 2015.
My newest vehicle is 20 years old. I repair and rebuild. None of tgis nonsense for me

2017 Jeep Cherokee Limited V6. Has the STUPID start stop feature. Auxiliary battery is indeed in the trunk.
They sell a bypass on eBay

Yup. Just like the Bulbs, Brakes, Wiper blades and many others things that should be replaced in pairs.
I really hate that start/ stop& unnecessary battery costs. You can't win either way . Auxiliary battery.... how about a rear wiper.... more useful than start/ stop
Thank you Explaining that 😊 very appreciated
These newer gasoline vehicles need 2 batteries? That is scam deeper than most could ever comprehend.
Yeah my old ladies Chevy Cruze both batteries buried in the trunk. Lol
In the dodge avenger the battery is under the front bumper on the driver side.
So genuine question, my vehicle has the start stop feature thing but i always just turn it off before i drive anywhere, could i possibly run into these problems even if i dont use it?
I purchased the bypass to the start/stop system. What does Alex say about that?
😮 This is good to know 😊

As a car owner, i can start and stop the car manually. Oh, also, it only needs one battery
Why do I need an auxiliary battery?
Maaaannn, Alex they can keep all this extra💩! Start/stop, soft closing doors, auto parking, lane assist, auto trunk open and close, hybrids...its all going to fail and be damn expensive to fix! I don't want anything newer than 2012!

Alex, what's your thoughts auto stop/start systems in modern cars?
Great question. I will come back to see the answer or the video
