    hey dude! that was a sickening runaway! Luckily it landed upside down and you could shut it off!! Can;t kill a nitro, not even from that! good work bro!..

      I had an Dyanmite .21XP in my hyper7 and had a runaway. It flipped over on its lid and it revved to the moon. B6 the time I got to it and shut it down it had lost all compression. I was really sad lol. Lil rubber hair bands FTW. Never run without them now.

    Great video! That engine pumps! It may not be an OS or Nova but we don't have many options like before. If you drop your idle just a bit more, that tune would be just about perfect.
    Tip: If you can get a Tekno TKR1111 tuning screw driver where you live, make it a priority to get one. It's the best in the market hands down and it also has a replaceable rubber end cap to shut off engines so you don't destroy your driver end. Be sure to pick up extra spare end rubber caps! They are cheap!

    • @TastyBRC
      @TastyBRC  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thank you! As you said, we have very few options left, at least for bashers.
      I wish i could drop the idle but the engine is kind of finicky, check out my sh28 review video you will see why...

    I have a Dynamite Big Red Mach 2 .28
    They are a 6-port as stock, BUT the
    SH .28 8P piston and sleeve fits DIRECTLY into the Big Red engine, and wakes it up a some.
    If you need to rebuild your Dynamite Big Red engine, put the SH .28 P8 piston and sleeve into it.
    It is SH part number TE2831C, and is available from A-Main Hobbies for $28.99 + $2.99 shipping. A great deal for an upgrade with a power boost.

    • @TastyBRC
      @TastyBRC  ปีที่แล้ว

      👍 Right, the 6 ports and 8 ports SH blocks are the same, also the 8p isvthe exact same engine as the lrp28 spec 3 (with a different cooling head). I bought a piston and sleeve kit from aimain 👍 to rebuild this engine as it came with very deep machining scratches in the sleeve from the factory! ... Alixprss quality

    • @davelowets
      @davelowets ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TastyBRC I just picked up 2 more of the piston/sleeve kits off A-Main the other day. For $28, they are a bargain. The only downside to them is that they dont include a rod, pin, or circlips with them.
      I did shop around and got an extra rod for $16.
      I've NEVER had an issue with a bad piston pin, as long as the engine hasn't thrown the rod, or ingested a bunch of dirt, I'll use them again.
      As far as the circlips go, they are SUPPOSED to be thrown away and replaced if they are removed from a piston, but if you remove them carefully and don't mangle them, I'd reuse them without worries. I've re-used them lots of times and never had one fail.

    Nice video!Here is currently no way to enjoy nitros outside because of the weather is actually worse…As soon as I heard this bigger nitros I feel the need to go drive may buggy..Can‘t wait to make the last tuning steps on the carb in order to burn some serious amount of nitro🤤 At the last attempt to make the last tuning on it,unfortunately the clutch has died,but it’s already replaced ,so all I need is some nice weather…It seems that even on 16% nitro my LRP produces with the re shimmed combustion camber a nice overall power development👌
    However your hobao in combination to the SH 28 seems to be a blast to play with around

    • @TastyBRC
      @TastyBRC  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I know what it is... wheather sucks here too, look at the spot, water everywhere, not good for bearings and a lot of cleaning work.. But im having a lot of fun, nitro revo video very soon 😁 16% is good for our engines, havent tried yet the new legal 16% fuel wich contains less nitro

      @@TastyBRC It makes a lot of work after playing in such weather to give the cars the proper mantainment ,the other thing is that I would probably getting a cold from..So I prefer to wait..lol
      I“m currently busy on the rebuild ok the k5.9 of my „new“ second hand Savage,I already wondering how it’s like to run them on 16%..
      By the way as I saw ,in my opinion an interesting engine, however it seems to me that it“s a to complex engine for a RTR car ,probably the main reason for all the complaints which you can find on the internet…This one hand“t for sure ever run properly because of all that I could find in the inner part of this..The carb had a really weird setting from the pre owner,waaaaaay too rich ,it was richer than the break in setting on the hsn and msn,but the funny part was that the lsn was untouched,so I guess the preowner was thinking that the midrange needle was the lowspeed needle or something like that..however the combustion chamber had a bunch of black burned oil residues and the upper part oft the piston was also fully black …The only point to now in which I can complain about this engine,was that the inner part of the crankcase wasn’t well finished by the factory..I had done my best to correct all the points that wasn’t manufactured well…The time will show if I done a good job or not..I will have to have patience till the day „x“ in which I „m able to fire it up….As you know a proper rebuild of a whole Savage (to disassemble and clean each part ) takes countless time…

      @@TastyBRC I do my best! I"ve fully sealed it like I"m used to do in all of my "Hobby grade" Nitro engines,so I"ll not encouter airleaks related issues on this K5.9 anymore..I"m pretty sure that this engine fully stock most probably have some serious airleaks related troubles on the region of the carb and on his backplate!
      However it will take some time till i"m done with the Savage XL projekt,it"s anyway crappie weather outside lol
      Today I"ve starting to work up the pipe and the manifold in order to get a touchless shiny look again :-) After this I will proced with the chassis ,just begging to be lucky in order that all screws come lose ..For some reason some guys love to applie way too much loctite on the screws..But hey,I"ve armed with a 100watt soldering iron XD

    • @TastyBRC
      @TastyBRC  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Im really sorry, I cant help, I never ran the stock carb, i installed a picco carb! From my experience, factory settings are ok to brake the engine in, the main problem is that these sh carbs are made of aluminum and they are not insulated so they will run inconsistent as the engine heats up

  • @davelowets
    @davelowets ปีที่แล้ว

    What was the reason for the runaway?
    If it ever happens again, tap your finger over the exhaust pipe if you ever have a runaway.... Shuts it down INSTANTLY, and you only have to hold your finger on there so quickly that it doesn't burn you. Best method for stopping a runaway engine... It's easy, FAST, and you don't need to find something to jam into the flywheel.

    • @TastyBRC
      @TastyBRC  ปีที่แล้ว

      I had the wrong reflex and it damaged my beautiful EDS tuning screwdriver ...
      The runaway was due to a faulty on/off switch.

    • @davelowets
      @davelowets ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TastyBRC Ah, I see... Yep, I've had issues with the switch on the receiver box before also... Dirt gets in there and they don't last forever. A failsafe doesn't help a whole lot when there's no power there to command the servo. A spring or a rubber band that will pull the carb closed if power is lost to the servos works, but with today's 2.4GHz radio systems, a runaway is getting to be rarer than they used to be.
