I would have liked to share a good experience, like in most of my videos! this kind of thing happens but it was very surprising from a company with Novarossi heritage
Can you feel the scratches with your fingernail? I believe they messed up on the finished size of the brass liner before chrome..... Everyone needs to disassemble a Nova engine before running....I think this is a bigger quality control problem that you might think.....
I totally agree, i check every single engine i buy, most of the time everything is ok but not this time 😅 this company really have a quality control problem or their quality standards are very low... And no, i cant feel the scratches, they are not very deep but still sucks imo
@@TastyBRC I've always used and trusted only one manufacturer for racing, that's OPS...People mistakenly think they shut down..... OPS have always eaten Novarossi and Picco for breakfast in every way including power, but Novarossi and Picco are the ones on the shelf at the local hobby shop...hence their popularity.
I imagine how difficult it must be to revive this company, I could have settled for an engine with less competition details but not with quality defects...
The engine might run ok for most guys, but it is clearly lacking the quality and details of the competition. Like you say at the price point you expect the best! This kind of workmanship and service would be expected on a budget engine.
I couldn't have said it better, but as far as the quality is concerned, I seem to be an isolated case, so much the better for those who bought these engines. I hope for them that they will never have to deal with after-sales service!!!

I have the B3R just run in on EBIS one of the first here in New Zealand haven't taken apart yet.I am hoping to run it club day this Sunday. On EBIS was very tight will finish run in Sunday. There's going to be other B5R engines there for the first time we are all keen to see how they run speed wise and fuel run time?. I am always a bit nervous getting first of something like this I personally think will be all okay. Hopefully your engine runs good I look forward to your next video.
Hope your engine is going to run good, my experience with nova engines was sad but that doesn't mean that all their engines are poorly made. Most people are happy wtih their nova. I would really appreciate if you let me know how your b3 and that b5 are runing 👍thanks for the comment
The crankshaft of the VSB02 doesn’t have balance weight either and is a great engine. I think the piston is lightweight and the crankshaft does not need the extra weight. So they can achieve higher RPM
The VSB02 is a great motor! balance weights are are not necessary for an engine to run well but a high end feature. For the money, IMO, you can get a better engine than a B5R with or without balance weights, I would choose the vsb02 without hesitation over the b5R!!!
Have you tried the hobbyking track star engines ? Everybody is amazed at what you get for 70 Bucks It is basically an alpha dragon without some of the extra machining They have plenty of power

I have a question out of all the engine Wich one in your opinion best to run for a savage ? Thanks have a good one till the next one 👍👌✌️🛠️💯 savage nation 💪
In my humble opinion the best pullstart engine ever made is the Picco rebel XL, i made a couple videos of cars with this engine and a review video too. Compared to my other pullstart engines (LRP 28, 32, hpi 4.6, force 32, hobao 28, 30..Novarossi 28) this one has the highest quality standards, based on a race engine (same block and materials as the picco p3tt) the rebel xl is great and my favorite pullstart engine!!! not the most powerful but a bit more powerful than the stock .28 though
Hi Tasty B race report first 3 race's flame outs engine carb setting high speed about flush. Idle gap more than 1/2mm. 3rd needle about flush. We had to wind the low speed needle right in bit by bit as way to rich. The other club members with Nova are running OS plugs so I put a old P3 in and 4th race got 2nd place next race 3rd.And finals placed 3rd. First place went to a Nova B5R. We are all very happy and other club members have more new engines on the way. Run time B5R getting 7 1/2 min. I am getting 8 1/2 min with B3R Picco 2099 pipe. Engine temp at end of race 96 degrees. Having paint in the cooling head I think makes little difference. Our track is tight hard and fast love the engine VERY happy will get another and recommend our feed back has been sent to our supply to the factory about plugs and appear to be listening very carefully. Last thing it's overwhelming starting a new business in time in i hope there will more stuff like clutches, bells etc.
I really appreciate your post. even if my experience with Nova was bad, the return of this company remains a big event in the world of Nitro, it would be a shame if they screwed up. How do you find the B3R compared to the B5R?
I had to richen the hsn about 30 minutes lean the low idle gap is about .5mm mid speed is flush with the notch toward the fuel nipple since making adjustments to the hsn and leaning the low more with a fresh plug I haven’t had a flameout took a full gallon of fuel through it before it really took to a good tune but as of now I’m very pleased with it
I tried a p3 plug but it didn’t seem to seat properly it was really weird what I experienced after being told it would be compatible I noticed the button head on these novas are very soft and the threads are very delicate other than that I haven’t had any complaints with mine
The retailer in New Zealand has inflated the price. Some distributors are making there own "Value" It's would be around 200 dollars cheaper to buy from Australia and pay freight
Im not surprised that prices are going up with all the hype about this company. But there are better choices IMO, at least here in Europe, i can buy a Ultimate (made by OS), a Picco, Ielasi for cheaper than the Nova, a Reds scuderia Gen 2 or Spower B7TT (OS) for an extra 20$, i know that most of those engines are much more expensive in US, dont about Australia??
@Tasty B Australia is better for average wage conversion and not much tax from Asia. A o.s is mid 500 ausd in New Zealand is closer to 800nzd what's about 670ausd in Australia the nova was 300 So we get a bad deal here.
Try the REDS engines which are made in Italy and are something more than the Novarossi and perhaps even the Picco p3. I'm Italian and I must say that despite all these years that the Novarossi engine has been used by people in Italy these problems have not arisen. But I inform you of one thing that since they had temporarily closed the factory due to a change of ownership and because it was also bankrupt (i.e. from 2020-2021 and reopened in 2022) many things have changed when they returned such as: the logo/emblem, the projects the manufacture and coloring of the engines, the management of the factory, the use of non-inferior materials, the employees who work there have changed, the machine tools for the construction and therefore the processing of these engines have also changed. And that's why you found all those scratches inside the cylinder and on the piston skirt because the new machine tools that are of the latest generation and are numerically controlled that they have in the factory release and make those scratches on the finished piece, and it's a serious thing that they should put back in order it may be that the employees didn't notice it and that the machines make these scratches.
Reds engines look awsome and i think that the quality control is perfect, they are expensive engines but you get what you pay for! The new "Nova" company is as you said completely new and different, I can only judge them on the single engine that I bought, maybe it was a problem on this one and only engine but I am very disappointed with the handling of this problem, I would have hoped that they return a new double checked engine instead of sending the same damaged parts back to me. You may be right, their machines are making these scratches and they are unable to do better..
wow that's cheap...the cooling head looks very soft. feels like they tried to hide the cost cuttings with flashy colours and engravings. the scratches in the sleeve really did it for me, even my bottom of the barrel small block force engines don't come scratches that's unacceptable regardless of price point. but fingers crossed they'll learn from this and improve, let's see
Let's say that this kind of problem can happen with the first batch 🙄, but they said there was no problem with that scratched sleeve and piston and that's a shame.
Damn that is crazy I can’t believe they sent you that crap again just trying to make money of a old name!! An I’m with you bro love picco always the best motor in so many ways!!!
Absolutely Piccos are such great engines plus affordables!! Owning several piccos, I have become very picky about the quality of the motors that I buy, especially when I pay more for them than a PICCO🤨 Same here, i cant belive that they sent me the same piston and sleeve again, at first I thought it was an error, an oversight.. but you saw their response to my message
Yeah I hear you it’s a shame big hopes but let down is not expected twice, in Australia 🇦🇺 it’s so expensive considering our dollar is less than USA or your dollar 💵 I think they need to be more serious about it this is not a cheap hobby 👍 appreciate you an your work you do for the hobby mate, an yes I have 4 picco an love them over any other motor just good quality 👍 cheers Tony
This is totally ridiculous!!! Pretending to manufacturer quality racing engines. That you got it like this back from Nova says it al. "piston and sleeve are fine, feel free to run it" 😂 so they don't even want to give you a quality flawless engine. It's € 380,- !!! I would deffinitely expect more then this for that money. I only pay € 55,- more for a FX engine. The quality difference is night and day.! I totally agree, there are many engines with better quality for less money. Your SPower looks really good 👌 I wonder how much a crank expands when it's heated. If a crank is this tight think the bearings wear out pretty quickly. This is sertainly not as it should be!!! That does look like rust on that crank. What a shame!!! Brand new engine 👎 You would assume that if you send something to the manufacturer and get it back, everything is in top condition. Guess not with Nova. What a joke!!! 👎👎👎
They claim that they are "obssesed by quality", I would never have imagined receiving a new engine in this condition, but even less that they send it back to me in the same condition after having checked it, knowing that the customer is unhappy and has reason to be, they don't care about the opinion of a single customer .. their sales must have been very good lately. Yes Kings the Spower is looking awsome!! at 199 i should have bought 3 of them 😆I think we will never see such a good deal again. But i you have 379.9 euros to spend you have a wide choice of excellent engines. Think you are right, when such a tight crank expands, that may put a lot of stress on the bearings. Anyways, it wont make your life easier as disassembling it will require quite some effort and seems to be risky for the bearings imo. Still not all those cranks are looking so thight from what ive seen in other videos.
Thank you! and my apologies for the music 🙏, I had to add music because there is an annoying back noise, maybe you will notice it, sounds of crickets!! (the food of my son's lizard) 😅😅, I'm used to it I so didn't pay attention while recording but realized it while I was editing so i tried to drown out this annoying noise
🤔maybe.. from what i saw it looks more like low quality machining. Nova claimed that they fixed some issues on the second batch and I may try the new T6 Nova we will see..
Problems on the first batches sometimes occur, they could have rectified the situation by sending me a good motor but wanting to save a few dollars they kicked themselves in the nuts
Comparing the B3R with B5R race conditions performance wise. Both engines run with same fuel 25% same P3 plugs. B5R Nova pipe types ?.B3R 2099 pipe. Coming out of the corner to main straight if I am a bit slow in tight and the other racer has more speed I can catch him top speed much the same. The other racers think I am more dialed in with carb setings if I give it heaps 8 1/2 min . One 7 min race i forgot to refuel before I started the next one run out after 4min that's about 9min?. This is something the other guys are trying to get past 7 1/2 min they like the power but need more runtime. I love the confidence power when I need it and long run time. My clutch is the same as I use with all my other race engines B3R is the best of my 6 engines.New Zealand Champs 🏆 on this weekend up north I'm not going but will get feedback as a lot of Novas racing.
I really appreciate your updating. Congratulations on you race results! So B5R has more power coming out of the corner !? so more torque than the B3R. I saw Modelix's b3 and b5r videos on facebook and the guy also said that the b5 has a bit more overall power.
Thanks for sharing your experience. Looks like corners were cut in the manufacturing process. I'll stick with os and fx for my race engines.
I would have liked to share a good experience, like in most of my videos! this kind of thing happens but it was very surprising from a company with Novarossi heritage

Wow thats just freaking ridiculously!!! They should be ashamed of the quality
Well what the worst about this story, they consider that there is no problem with their parts😮💨
Wow, that's messed up, should be a lot better for that price, subscribed new friend
Thank you, same here 👊
wow that's cheap...the cooling head looks very soft. feels like they tried to hide the cost cuttings with flashy colours and engravings. the scratches in the sleeve really did it for me, even my bottom of the barrel small block force engines don't come scratches that's unacceptable regardless of price point. but fingers crossed they'll learn from this and improve, let's see
Let's say that this kind of problem can happen with the first batch 🙄, but they said there was no problem with that scratched sleeve and piston and that's a shame.
Your SPower looks really good 👌
I wonder how much a crank expands when it's heated. If a crank is this tight think the bearings wear out pretty quickly. This is sertainly not as it should be!!! That does look like rust on that crank. What a shame!!! Brand new engine 👎
You would assume that if you send something to the manufacturer and get it back, everything is in top condition.
Mate loose the music/noises in the background. Makes it difficult to understand your comments
You are not the first one to complain about the music, i messed up😅.. sorry
If tight thats good
Yeah sometimes 🤔
I like your video well done but please don’t use this music again lol it’s so distracting I can’t hear what you’re saying 😢
Thank you! and my apologies for the music 🙏, I had to add music because there is an annoying back noise, maybe you will notice it, sounds of crickets!! (the food of my son's lizard) 😅😅, I'm used to it I so didn't pay attention while recording but realized it while I was editing so i tried to drown out this annoying noise
@@TastyBRC Haha fair enough dude
Even my cheap sh engines dont have scratches! Thats crap on the novas part.
SH, Force.. even my 60$ trackstar engine is looking better 😑
❤🎉😮😊👍❤💋🍎
its a ripoff my opinion😑
Maybe i was the 1 in a 1000 unlucky guy, dont think all novas arre looking this bad but the way they handled this issue is a shame
The scratches on the sleeve look like a “honing” process. Look it up, they do it do help trap oils to lube the piston.
🤔maybe.. from what i saw it looks more like low quality machining. Nova claimed that they fixed some issues on the second batch and I may try the new T6 Nova we will see..
Not a great start for them that is for sure
Problems on the first batches sometimes occur, they could have rectified the situation by sending me a good motor but wanting to save a few dollars they kicked themselves in the nuts
Not good at all 😬
I have rarely seen worse 😮💨
@@TastyBRC yeah me ether, I wouldn’t run it
I would be sending it back and getting a refund on that one
