Yes, I too discovered Keith from the SD PU shootout, but let's forget about that. Like any musician, he takes the work and opportunities that he can regardless of what PU's are loaded in his personal axe. What I love about this tune in particular is that regardless of how technical his playing may be, it still grooves. To me that's what separates Keith from any other shredder.
I'm totally blown away. Much love from Cincinnati Ohio. But I dont see government lines I see people as a whole on a planet. I just wanted you to know where the next million views came from. ME
I feel like you and I have the same taste in drumming. I tend to like when the drums don't play to the guitar, but Keith isn't a drummer, and this is a very guitar-centric project (intentionally so). I respect it and can still really get into it, even if I hear parts where I would have written the drums differently. (This is coming from someone who's admittedly not a drummer, but programs drums for most of his music).
yeah, he's probably using a 7 string tuned a half step down. His other version of this song (which sounds better, at least the guitar tone does) is tuned a half step up from a drop A tuning; Drop A#.
This is the original version of the song done on The Arrival. When he redid it on Retrospecial, he added them. You can also tell the difference in tone between the two tracks. This track obviously has active pickups and the track on Retrospecial obviously has passives.
+terence cunningham apparently there have been a couple versions played in different tunings, but the best sound i've come up with so far is in Drop A# (7 string drop A tuned 1/2 step up).
("Less straightforward" is an horrible way to say it, sorry ; the drum part is actually really cool. Do not pay attention, I'm just in the middle of a Gartska personal fad. Great work.)
The main riff is one of the best riffs I've heard.
YES, I remember searching this when I heard it in a S. Duncan pickups comparison by Merrow... Badass
same
+Andrei Neacsu Awesome profile pic mate, Ne Obliviscaris is great!

A true guitar master

you just gotta love the opening XD
The arrival, to a video 11 years after it was published...
I think this song is in drop A# which is kind off a funny tuning for a seven string because the higher six strings are tuned to F standard.
alot of sykth influence. is this sykth?
Sometimes I feel like this tune is needed
When i heard the 16-bit intro . . i knew shit was gonna go down :P
thumbs up for the minute of awsome breakdown
degu da tha ne degu da tha ne is all thats going through my head right now
Any idea what tuning this is? it's like it may be standard.....all notes dropped 5 1/2 steps...lowest being Bb?
yeah, he's probably using a 7 string tuned a half step down. His other version of this song (which sounds better, at least the guitar tone does) is tuned a half step up from a drop A tuning; Drop A#.
sigmartheczar Really? Never heard of tuning a lower registered guitar up LOL. There is another version??

Wow. First time I've ever heard this and........ well whoever this is poops rainbow sherbet flavored talent..... mmmmmm.
I wish his new stuff was like this
@Zatyx I'm praying to God that it'll never get a thumbs down... What am I saying; I'm gonna pray to Keith Merrow, since he's better than God.
This is the original version of the song done on The Arrival. When he redid it on Retrospecial, he added them. You can also tell the difference in tone between the two tracks. This track obviously has active pickups and the track on Retrospecial obviously has passives.
I am here because I was watching Ola's Chinese V-Log

+terence cunningham apparently there have been a couple versions played in different tunings, but the best sound i've come up with so far is in Drop A# (7 string drop A tuned 1/2 step up).

There's a click at 0:00
I wish I could hear Matt Garstka's take on this. Some kind of less straightforward drumming at least. Love it as it is, nevertheless.
("Less straightforward" is an horrible way to say it, sorry ; the drum part is actually really cool. Do not pay attention, I'm just in the middle of a Gartska personal fad. Great work.)
who is here after hearing Ola play this?
You're probably meant to focus more on the guitar work than the drums though
